5 out of 5 stars More than just a "classic".......2007-05-26

Paid in full is more than a classic. It was a masterpiece that is among the greatest records ever made in rap history. I'd say it was the perfect blend of catchy beats and rhymes that flowed like water. My favorite song of all time is My Melody especially when Rakim dropped "I'll take 7 mc's....." (u know the rest). I Ain't No Joke, Move The Crowd, I Know You Got Soul, and Paid in Full were also hot. This is one you gotta have in the collection cause it was one for the ages.

5 out of 5 stars A Pinnacle in Hip-Hop.......2007-04-03

1987's Paid In Full instantly upon its release set the height of the brass ring that every contender needed to aim for (and usually missed by a yard) in order to make a definitive rap album. By today's standards, the beats may be a little old-school and the master-of-the-microphone lyrics a bit out of date but the musicianship, style, and class are not to be ignored. As I said about Follow The Leader, it's refreshing in this day and age to be able to listen to a phenomenal rap album without hearing about bitches and the like. A landmark in rap and music in general. I own the 2005 reissue which has 3 bonus remixes and stellar sound.

5 out of 5 stars This one's for real........2007-02-12

Wow. I love this album. I am filing this one under Quality. This album is raw and experimental. The rhymes on here are ingenious and consistently creative. Paid in Full and I Know You Got Soul have to be two of my favorite songs ever. I don't want to be one of those old school whiners who complains how everything these days is crap and this is when it was done right, but upon listening to this I have to say that, wow, this is how it's done. And let me tell you, "the beat is fresh". Eric B. and Rakim were opening some innovative doors with this one. I have more to say but I got to get back to listening. Peace.

5 out of 5 stars It's THAT "Paid in Full".......2007-01-06

I should't really have much to say about "Paid in Full" that hasn't been said by all the other reviewers. Along with Run-DMC's earliest albums, this is one of the records that would go on to revolutionize hip hop and the music industry at large. This allowed rap music to make the shift from single-driven rap albums to entire LPs, and from looping party music to intelligent, musical, and original products. And even though "Paid in Full" is one of the blueprints of hip hop music and sounds a little dated (this is from 20 years ago, after all!) it's amazing to hear how completely relevant it is. I can't even begin to think of how many times I've heard the bassline from the title track sampled. This is without a doubt the most sampled album in hip hop history, I think I've heard each of the ten tracks sampled at one time or another. But besides its influence, this album is still a joy to listen to. Rakim's monotone flow delivers punchlines up the wazoo and perfected the style of bragadacio rap. This album would earn him the title of one of the greatest rappers of all time, a title that he would hold for the rest of his life. Rakim's lyrics still sound ten times as fresh as 90% of today's rappers, and Eric B's bass and sample heavy grooves are still enough to make my head bob every time. James Brown was a favorite sampling subject, and he also introduced heavy horn instrumentation and vocal samples along with his hard drumbeats in many of the songs. Every song here is a classic and that's more than can be said of almost any other piece of music. "Paid in Full" is one of a select few rap albums that was completely revolutionary and is a must have for any hip hop collection.

The album begins with "I Ain't No Joke," a song where Rakim represents the duo and boasts of their talent as musicians, over a catchy saxophone-laced beat. The entertaining instrumental "Eric B Is on the Cut" follows, preceding the heavy and infamous "My Melody." The thumping drums and bass on this track are excellent, as are Rakim's legendary rap verses. "I Know You Got Soul" is upbeat and lyrically inventive. "Move the Crowd" is a product of excellent sampling of funky horn instrumentation and another great job by Rakim. The previously mentioned title cut is probably the most well-known instrumental on the album, having the phenomenal, oft-used bassline and fun lyrics. "As the Rhyme Goes On" follows, containing so many simple yet classic lines ("I'm the R, the A to the K-I-M / If I wasn't, then why would I say I am?"). "Chinese Arithmetic" is the most musically inventive, using an Asian instrumental along with the hard snare. The phenomenal "Eric B Is President" will forever be considered a masterpiece, and the closing instrumental "Extended Beat" is a nice touch.

"Paid in Full" is every bit the masterpiece that its legend would suggest, both musically and lyrically. It sounds like a cliche, but it is true that if it were not for "Paid in Full," hip hop would not sound quite the way it does today. I highly recommend that any fan of hip hop shell out ten bucks to own one of the most respected pieces of hip hop music ever. This is legendary for a reason, and is plain fun to listen to besides.

5 out of 5 stars (Rating: 10 out of 10) So This Is What People Were Bumping Back In Eighty-Six.......2006-10-08

"My favourite rappers used to say 'check-check out My Melody'" -50 Cent from The Game's "Hate It Or Love It" (sorry for quoting him on this review).

Hearing rappers between 1993 and today, a lot of them quote Rakim or said that he was their influence. But after watching the "I Ain't No Joke" on BET one day, I immediately went and bought this album. Rakim's rhymes were a good distance ahead of their time. Listening to the long track "My Melody" would perfectly describe how his wordplay was. And what I like about this album is everything is so basic, no gimmics or anything compared to other albums I've heard. Another one of my favorites is the well known "Paid In Full" (I'd be here all day naming the artists that bit this song) as Rakim starts off the song "Thinking of a master plan/it ain't nothing but sweat inside my hand..."(and you know the rest...).

But Rakim isn't the only person who was involved in this classic. DJ Eric B. contibutes just as much as Rakim does. His cuts are outstanding. "Eric B. Is On The Cut" as well as the creative "Chineese Arithmetic" are dope as hell. Production is 80's flavor, so thats good. It might be odd for some people to think 10 tracks makes the album kind of short, but many albums from the 80's were about the same length.

This album is a classic to name. I'm pretty sure people were playing this album like crazy back in the day. Me and this album are roughly the same age, and having discover this here I see where many artists got their style from. If you're a new hip hop head, this is another one of those albums that belongs in your starter kit. Each album that this group made together is dope (I personally like "Follow The Leader" better than this one) and recommend that you check out all of them.

5 out of 5 stars Sweet, and syrupy; just the way it should be........2006-10-12

Chamillionaire and Paul Wall are two of the few emcees I like in the mainstream scene. It's not because they have anything truly provocative to say, but simply because they present their rap with so much flair and style, that it's impossible to overlook them. Chamillionaire has gone a more lyrical route, while Paul Wall is continuing the subject matter that the Screwed Up Click made famous in the underground in the mid-nineties. On this release, it's easy to tell both men were brought up listening to Screw's music, much like the rest of the Houston scene, and they use the perfect mix of harmonizing flows about 'Lacs and grills, over trippy, and hypnotic beats.

While it's true that Paul nor Chamillionaire are profound lyricists, dropping GZA knowledge on this release, they are both damn good rappers, able to flip sweet punchlines galore. Clever metaphores abound throughout this album, while Chamillionaire sings the hooks in each song. I know Cham gets some flack for singing the hooks in his songs, and has even be labeled "50 Cent Jr." by some people because of it, but for the Chamillionaire detractors, face it; Chamillionaire has a slick voice, and is one of the few rappers who SHOULD handle his own hooks(the only other I can think of is Cee-Lo, and, well, he's made a career out of crooning now).

The Swishahouse crew handle production duties, and as one would expect, that's a good thing. It's hard to get an album sounding this authentic to the Houston sound Screw crafted over a decade ago, but 4 years ago, Swishahouse brought it; and they're still bringing the tight production today. These aren't songs to 'get crunk' to; these are songs to chill to. This is an ideal album to listen to whether you're taking a late night drive, or simply chilling out in your home with your headphones on. Calm, cool, and downright dope, the production on this album matches the charismatic duo perfectly.

If you're a fan of the H-Town sound, then this is perfect for you. Even if you're not, it's still incredibly difficult not to love this release. If you can find it, pick it up. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Still N Luv Wit My $$$.......2006-02-12

I had just moved back to Houston from Seattle when this LP dropped and was in heavy radio-rotation around H-Town. Being away from the South for so long actually made me come back with a greater appreciation for Southern hip hop and the H-Town sound.

This probably isn't the album 4 you if you're looking for a Nas' "Illmatic," Jay-Z "Reasonable Doubt" or Wu-Tang "36 Chambers" type of album -- lyrical masterpieces.

That's not to hate on Paul and Cham b/c they got somethin' 2 say.

This is definitely an album you can ride 2 ... N Luv With My Money is still one of my favorites.

It's really too bad Paul and Cham fell out after this album though I'm not sure I'd even want them to try to top this LP if they got right again.

Fun, fun, fun hip hop album. Recommended for those who like to chill, have a good time and ride to some highly entertaining hiphop music.

4 out of 5 stars Worthwhile.......2006-02-08

I enjoyed this CD quite a bit. The production is pretty good, while both rappers do show some nice lyricism throughout the CD. In my opinion does a better job than Paul Wall, but that's just me. Either way, this CD is worth buying.

1 out of 5 stars weak !.......2006-01-05

anybody who likes chamillionare is trippin'. his flows are weak and his lyrics are weaker. come on "bullet proof vest on my chest so i won't get shot by cupid". is he still in kindergarten cause his flows sound like he's on a playground. paul wall is ok but he should stick to his day job makin' grillz. chamillionare needs to take his iced chain and melt it into a pacifier cause he's still an infant in da game.

5 out of 5 stars The Only Good Album With Paul Wall.......2005-11-06

Ladies and Gentleman....... Koopa is the King..... This album I have owned for a number of years and is still my favorite Chamillionaire album ever... This is such a good album even Paul Wall was good... In case you dont already know this album unlike Controversy Sells was approved by Chamillion and Paul Wall... This is not a garbage thrown together album like Controversy Sells and if you have never heard a Chamillion album this should definetly be your first and if you have never heard a Paul Wall album then you should only buy this one cause all the others with exceptions for The Color Changin Click albums is Boo-Boo... I knew it 5 years ago I still know it today when the Sound Of Revenge drops the sky is the limit for the Color Changin Reptile... Dyke Jones Phoney

5 out of 5 stars Bow Down to the Greatest HipHop Album of alltime................2007-05-09

This is one and only truly classic album by Eric B and Rakim that stands the test of time. Impeccable rhyming at its finest. Rakim's delivery was just unbelievable back in 86. No one had rapped like that up to that point. The music by Run DMC, LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys was loud and rock influenced. Eric B's deep (Dennis Edwards) baseline on the song Paid in Full was a changing of guard. Ra's slowed down flow was next level. Fav's are the entire album. Nuff Said.

5 out of 5 stars "No tricks in '86, it's time to build"!.......2005-08-17

This here is the definitive, ultimate editon of Eric B & Rakim's masterpiece debut album. Loaded with remixes, re-mastered for superior sound quality and an enhanced video for viewing on your PC. this is "CLASSIC" material all true Hip-Hop fans must own!

5 out of 5 stars The greatest lyricist of all time? You make the call.......2005-06-03

When I ask myself questions like - Who's the best emcee on the planet? Who's flow is completely state-of-the-art? Which emcee has the most mic presence? Who's flow is so potent, that it makes your jaw drop in awe? Well, only two names come to mind, and those are KRS-One and Rakim. These two guys are arguably the most influential rappers in the golden age, influencing countless acts to following. Rakim's flow is absolute butter. His rhymes are so alluring, and addictive, that he will keep ALL of your attention on him. If you're looking for a first time purchase by this devastatingly affecting duo, look no further, "Paid In Full" reaches the vertex of their career (and arguably every rap album that came out in 1987). Rakim isn't all this duo has to offer. The just-as-influential DJ/producer, Eric B. possesses more skill on the turntables than any album that came out in 1987 (check out "Chinese Arithmetic"), and still sounds pretty fresh by today's standards (amazingly). That influence is very apparent on the second disc of this fantastic collection. All the remixes are tight as can be. And although Eric B. didn't remix all the tracks, his influence is felt by the number of musicians that did do the mixing.

It's almost impossible to describe how brilliant Rakim rhymes. I'm better off just quoting some of his flows (although that doesn't do much justice for him either, but I'll try). Here's some from "I Ain't No Joke" - "Write a rhyme in graffiti in / Every show you see me in / Deep concentration cuz I'm no comedian". Here's another, "But whatever you do, don't miss one / There'll be another rough rhyme after this one / Before you know it, you're following and fiending / Waiting for the punch-line, to get the meaning". Here's one from my favorite track, "My Melody" - "The rhyme is rugged, at the same time sharp / I can swing off anything, even a string of a harp". Here's one from their most well known "Paid In Full" - "Thinkin' of a master plan / Cuz it ain't nothin' but sweat inside my hand / So I dig into my pocket, all my money is spent / So I dig deeper but still comin' up with lint / So I start my mission, leave my residence / Thinkin', how could I get some dead presidents?". Here's one from "I Know You Got Soul" - "I start to think, and then I sink / Into the paper like I was ink / When I'm writing, I'm trapped in between the lines / I escape when I finish the rhyme". OK, one more from "Eric B. Is President" - "I came in the door, I said it before / I never let the mic magnetize me no more / But it's biting me, fighting me, inviting me to rhyme / I can't hold it back, I'm looking for the line / Taking off my coat, clearing my throat / My rhyme will be kickin' it until I hit my very last note". I can go on and on and on quoting my favorite lyrics and rhymes from Rakim, but I think I would hit the maximum word usage.

I'm not sure how much more I can tell you. Besides the fact that this is probably my favorite old-school rap album (and by far my favorite from 1987). I just wish I would've discovered it before last year. If you end up buying it, you will think the same. I personally guarantee it.

4 out of 5 stars Tight Soundtrack, average mixtape.......2006-11-05

Like many reviewers said already, the soundtrack is better then the mixtape. All in all you get 26 songs, 16 new ones and 10 older ones. Fot disc 1, the soundtrack, you get some real nice old school hip-hop songs, the only problem is the world's most annoying (not famous) DJ Brucie B yelling over every song. Of these 10 songs, 1 is a classic, 1 I skip, 2 are ok, the rest are good. For the 16 song mixtape, you get 7 good songs, 3 I skip, and the other 6 are ok. Production on here isn't as good as I expected from the line of producers on here. Kanye West, Zukhan, KLC, Megahertz, Shim & E Bass, Liz & PLX, Heatmakerz, Pro & Boggs, Black Key, DJ Kick Ass, MAJ all do 1 song, King James does 2, and Just Blaze does 3.

4 out of 5 stars Can you stop the roc????????.......2005-05-20

well before i go on i dont actually own this album BUT ive listened to sampels (courtsy of amazon) and what ive heard sounds quite impressive.
The R.O.C: I am a HUGH fan of the roc kanye west, memphis bleek (even though his album M.A.D.E was a weak attempted ive heard 543 is ment to be a great comeback), beanie sigel, young gunz and of course jay-z. poeple like to critisise the roc but i wouldnt be to sure, the roc is slowly taking over (even though of reports its a "death of a dynasty"). The roc have so much potential with knock out artists that havent relised an album yet! (rell & n.o.r.e-ed). The main reason i think this album is so brilliant is Kanye West. He is slowly takeing over the rap game (G.O.O.D music signing Common is a fantastic idea, i hear BE is a hip/hop classic) and he will continue to shine with his new album "Late Registration". The R.O.C is faultless though with "mistake" artists like: Peddi Peddi A.K.A Peddi Crakk, Foxy Brown (a newlly signed person to the R.O.C), State Propety's awful attempts to be gangstar, Jewelz Santanas and of cource DJ Clue who goes for quantity over quality! Anyway now to the album:
Why not 5 Stars??? because of the following reasons:
1. That alful track with Master P (He uses the term "Master" loosly and who "No Limit" records made Snoop Dogg look desperate for a record deal!)
2. The awful comentry by DJ Clue or whoever it is! Why does he wreck classic Hip/Hop (Paid In Full-Eric.B and Ramkin)!!!!!!
Another reason wrong with the R.O.C (as much as i love them!) is sometimes they try a little to hard even though Hova's at a point were he can do just about anything at the moment. Songs like Champions which is a great song streachs the limits a little bit (BUT GREAT PRODUCTION BY KANYE WEST!).
In conclusion i would pick this album up if your a fan of the R.O.C (i will hope to get this album if i get the money and theres not to many more things i wan Law and Order SVU anyone???). Hope you enjoy the review and take into acount what i have said and STOP HATTING THE R.O.C!

ok i cant believe i wasted money on this cd...twista's flow and kanye's production are the only bright spots on the whole cd...twista's one verse lights up everybody else like a ...christmas tree..i thought that the ROC was steadily takin over the game but after hearing this im having second thoughts half these cats lyrics arent worthy of getting their name on a post-it let alone a contract and M.O.P. made a big mistake signin with the ROC,their style is on the other side of the spectrum compared to what Rocafella is known for.Im glad Twista's contract is just a appearance deal and not a full album contract,I'd hate to see someone with so much overlooked talent be ruined before he gets his chance

This album is by far the best album ever released, especially the chopped and screwed version. The beats are tight and the flow is incredible. These guys rhyme about everything. Paul Wall is the best white rapper out there next to Eminem. This album along with all the other SwishaHouse CD"s are a must have for the ultimate rap fan collection.

5 out of 5 stars Real Classics.......2006-04-04

Unlike a lot of Screw compilations, which are usually nothing more than throwawy tracks... this collection collects a large majority of the H-Town tracks that defined the original Screw subculture. Mixed by the Swishahouse, back in the good old days whenRon C and Mike Watts chopped it up together.

If you are new to slowed music and want to hear what it is about without searching out the true underground, than this is a great start. The mixes are slow and sloppy - just like they used to be. Don't expect great quality - and be aware that sometimes the records will even skip. These are raw mixes - and most people who consider themselves Screw Heads would have it no other way.

Worth it for 'Braids and Fades' alone!

This debut album, basically a collection of early singles ("Eric B. Is President," "I Know You Got Soul," the title track), is the motherlode of late-'80s New York rap--assured, serious, and hugely influential. Rakim, a rapper's rapper, is the Chow Yun-Fat of hip-hop: cool as steel, absolutely calm, absolutely deadly. His verbal wit and rhythmic gift go hand-in-hand. He flows like a waterfall, playing around the beat, leaping from one ingenious phrase to another, letting the words do all the work. And Eric B.? He comes up with some straightforward but effective backing tracks (he favors James Brown grooves), scratches on a couple of block-rocking instrumentals, and makes room for the master to do his thing. --Douglas Wolk

Nuff Said.

5 out of 5 stars Rakim is still nice .......2006-11-14

Well what can I say about Rakim that most of the people have not already written about. I first saw him in concert in 1986 at the Capital Center in DC and was amazed at how his flow was. No one had ever heard anything like it the place ws going crazy. Paid In Full is considered a Classic Hip Hop album by many Hip Hop fans including me. It is my favorite album of all time for a lot of reasons. For one it still sounds good today how many albums that come out now will sound good in 20 years none. Rakim can still rock a Mic as people saw at the Hip Hop Honors this year. I just hope Rakim's new album that is coming out sounds good as people are ready for this to drop.

5 out of 5 stars Say Goodbye To The Days Of Yes Y'allin' {5 Stars}.......2006-07-28

I grabbed a few copies of this when I was 11 and it's still as dope now as it was then. Wow, I can't believe that joint dropped 19 years ago.

A lot of people don't seem to understand what made Rakim such a special emcee. Think about most rap records and singles that came out before this album (before '87). Most of the joints being released were either basic party raps, showcase joints where emcees were biggin' up their DJ, or break beats for b-boys to get busy to. Many refer to this as the days of "yes y'allin". Well, after Paid In Full dropped, all that changed and the days of yes y'allin' were all but over and done with. Rakim made a lot of rappers go back to the lab and rethink their approach to the game. Want some examples? Just to name a few, check out Kool Moe Dee's first album and his Funke Funke Wisdom album. There's a distinct difference in his flow. Check out Run DMC.....the rhymes on their self titled debut are way different than the rhymes on the Down With The King LP. Kurtis Blow all but vanished because his flow wasn't up to par anymore. Even KRS One (who also debuted in '87 with his group Boogie Down Productions) became more lyrical on BDP's 2nd LP. There are a lot of things that changed when Rakim "came in the door...." (pun intended). He was one of the first to raise the bar and for that he will ALWAYS get love from and be respected by the true heads. If Rakim doesn't step on the scene, who knows, we might still be kickin' party raps to basic drum loops and guitar riffs. You may have never heard from cats like Nas, Canibus, Chino XL, Eminem, or any other seriously lyrical cats. He brought the LYRICS to the forefront when it was all about beats and partying. Now do you see why Rakim is so important? Sure, a lot of people do it now, so it may not seem like such a groundbreaking step nowadays, but being one of the first is something that you simply cannot take away from Rakim Allah. There's a reason why he's one of the most frequently quoted (or bitten depending on your view) rappers ever.

Flaws on the album are nil. Good luck finding any. The sound is a bit dated, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Anyone giving this 1 star doesn't know hip hop music when they hear it.

Paid In Full is one of those rare landmark hip hop albums. There aren't very many landmark albums in rap, so that's actually saying a whole lot. Some will tell you this isn't the best they've ever heard, but it's important to rap/hip hop culture for so many other immeasurable and intangible reasons outside of being the "best you've ever heard". If this album isn't in your collection, then I question how solid your foundation in this genre is. Go get it and quit kidding yourself. This is more than a collector's piece, this album should be a, if not THE, cornerstone in your hip hop collection. I have three copies in each format (LP, Cassette, and CD) just to ensure that this album stays with me until I'm gone. This is one of the albums I'm going to play for my grandkids when they start to get into rap music. It's THAT good. I highly recommend this one.

Standout Tracks: My Melody, Paid In Full, I Ain't No Joke, Move The Crowd, I Know You Got Soul, Extended Beat, and Eric B. Is President (My Favorite)

4 out of 5 stars The most important album in hiphop history.......2006-03-22

but definetely not the best, now before you reach for the not helpful button please just read the rest of the review. This is certainly the most important album in hiphop, on a technical level Rakim is probably the most skilled mc of all time (though not my personal favourite) and this being his & Erik B's debut it completely revolutionised hiphop. Pretty much every rapper that came after Rakim was compared to him, flow wasn't even considered important before he arrived, he became the benchmark for everyone else, and when Nas arrived he was claimed as the "New Rakim". If like me you grew up in the 90's you will instantly recognise many of rakim's lyrics have been recycled (or stolen depending on how you view it), by modern rappers, his influence was clearly huge and if I were old enough to appreciate this in 1987, I probably would have given it 5 stars.

Paid In Full is an exeptional album, there are a few reasons why I don't consider it the best of all time though. It is basically a collection of early singles and as such doesn't really form a cohesive album, in fact I also own Let The Rhythm Hit Em & Don't Sweat The Technique and I consider them both better whole albums than this. The reason this is generally considered the best is because it came first, and was the greater influence on the hiphop world, but it is not as polished as their later albums. There are two timeless classics on here, Paid In Full & I Know You Got Soul, these still more than stand up today. In fact every other song Rakim raps on are all at least good, but three tracks are just extended beats with scratching by Erik B. I don't know if they were impressive at the time, but they didn't hold my attention so there are in my opinion only 7 tracks worth listening to, though all are great. The production is unquestionably dated, I always think it helps with old albums to have been there at the time to really appreciate it, nostalgia is always good when listening to an album. If this was the lyrical benchmark of a hiphop album, then The Chronic was undoubtedly the production benchmark, and sadly much of what came before that now sounds dated production wise. I'm definetely able to overlook that though as I look for great lyricism more than beats, and this is one of the finest examples.

Every hiphop listener should own this album, no collection is complete without it. Seven tracks of Paid In Full are superb it's just the extended beats & instrumental tracks that break it up, I really think they should have been called Rakim & Erik B (if it didn't sound completely wrong), as Rakim is clearly the far more important member of the duo. Anyone who want's to know who was the greatest influence on their favourite 90's rappers owes it to them to pick this up. Probably the most important hiphop album ever, the lyrics are timeless even if the beats are not.

      Customer Reviews:

      5 out of 5 stars FIRE!!!!!.......2005-11-04

After listening to it non-stop since I got it last week, my verdict is this. It is clear that this sincere, gifted girl loves JESUS and is not ashamed of it. Yet, at the same time she comes CORRECT with a tight R&B style that could easily get played with all those hits on secular radio...And yes I appreciate the way she sings about RELATIONSHIPS (gasp!), because she is teaching these cats out here that you can sing beautiful songs about marriage and relationships and so forth and yet you don't have to get FREAKY to do it! ("If you want a freak boy that ain't me/If you want a one-night stand boy that ain't me" - now how many times do we get to hear that message on the radio??!!)
So, needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend this CD. First off, the vocals are beautiful - she has such a pretty tone which is a notch above most that you hear today, she is truly GIFTED vocally and I always appreciate being able to hear some pipes on an album. Also, the songs are real, talking about some of the things people are REALLY going through, ya heard? And the message is Christ - take a listen to No 2, 3 (I LOVE this one - creative), and the last ones ("He can fix it" - powerful!).
Now, the only complaint I have is some of the skits were a little predictable, if you don't like skits on CDs those might annoy you. But please, that does not by any means take away from the blessing that is wrapped up in these songs! Every single one of them is like, a hand-wrapped gift from God to so many in the hip-hop generation, showing how it's supposed to be DONE!

5 out of 5 stars The hottest new female artist yet............2005-11-01

I loved the life in stereo cd but this cd takes it up a notch. I agree with everything the previous reviewer said. He summed it up quite well. On this Cd, she is living the Christ like lifestyle. It is more life situations than Jesus talk on every song. I can especially relate because I see so many gospel artists that have Jesus on every song but their life doesn't reflect what they sing. Shei holds on barres about her lifestyle and you can tell who she represents on everysong eventhough Jesus's name may not be mentioned. Whether she is telling you about how God spared her life, or how to reconsile your marriage
or how to difuse a bad situation or how to respect your self as a lady. Shei is doing pure ministry in its rawest form. Then she summs it all up after the last song with an invitation to accept Jesus. Mannn. That's Hot...... SHei keep doin' your thing girl, you are setting a new standard. Even if you just love good R&B this CD is a must have....

5 out of 5 stars Not your average Christian album, but it's a must-buy!.......2005-10-28

On Shei Atkins' first CD "Life In Stereo," there were about certain songs that were good enough to keep rewinding over and over again, though overall it's a good album. This time around on "The Lita Mae Show," every track will have you rewinding. And this CD is different from other Christian album simply because the focal point of the album is moreso about relationships than it is talking about Jesus, which was the format of her last album.

By relationships I mean situations where your friends encourage you to reconcile their marriage("Call Me,") , leaving that other man or woman to go back to your spouse("I'm Going Home"), dropping that man that's clearly not trying to be about you("Sudden Change"), resisting to temptation to smack that woman who's going around town talking about your man("Lose My Cool"), and my favorite, not trusting the gossip when people say they saw your man/woman with someone else("Try Again Part 3").

She also gives shout-outs to all children who have big dreams("One Day") and the men who are working hard to support and love their women and families("Ladies to the Fellas"), which as a man I really appreciate. She tells the story about how God spared her life on "I Got Shot." But don't worry, she does have songs dedicated to Jesus. There's the upbeat "No One," and the slow tracks "He Can Fix It" and "He's There."

This CD is also different because it layed out like a talk show, hence the title. Think of a cleaner version of Jerry Springer done as a musical. For example, "Lose My Cool" starts off with some girl coming on stage who shamelessly talks about someone's man and taunts her, saying "Yeah I talked about your man, and what?!? What you gonna do about it?" and then it cuts to "Lose My Cool." So it's really a creative album, and the skits are too funny!

Overall it's a very well produced album, the tracks are hot, the skits are too funny, and there's definitely a godly message about relationships. But even if you're not into Christian music, this is a high quality CD that anyone can enjoy.
