Thank you Aesop.......2007-02-01
Many debate whether Aesop was better with his earlier releases or his latter ones, but one thing remains true...he is a genius. There is not another emcee with the vocabulary of Aesop Rock and we might not see another for a long time. Before I start with the everything good on the album, I must mention that the only downside was the length. I was left desiring more. Now, I started listening to Aesop during the Float days and grew accustomed to the beats by Blockhead with the earthy sounds. With that said, Bazooka Tooth was a difficult listen for me at first, but after a couple months with it, I craved the new sound of Aesop. I feel that Fast Cars is a bit of a mix between old and new Aesop sounds. The beats are a little less jagged than Bazooka Tooth, but far more electronic than Appleseed, Float, Labor Days & Music for Earthworms. Lyrically, he is still the same Ace Rock that we knew before. I doubt that his creativity will ever dwindle as each album is another work of art...good art. Is this his best work? Decide for yourself.
Aes hits it out of the park on this one.......2006-05-25
Sometimes Aesop Rock can come accross a little too cryptic or monotonous if he's not careful with his MO. But every song on this EP is the Aes Rizzle formula at its best. Cryptic on the surface but not too hard to understand after sinking your teeth in a bit.. and even if you could care less what he's talking about his flow has never been better. This is no Karaoke-able flow here. He's flowin over these beats with some mad skill and flaire... complex but still ear candy. If you love Aesop this wont let you down, if you havn't heard much of his stuff this is a great introduction.
Oh yeah forgot to mention that the beats are mindblowingly good as well.
NOW we're getting back in the swing of things..........2006-04-28
Bazooka Tooth was...worrying. The production was fun, although it got boring after a little while, but the lyrics were meaningless. The only really good songs on the album were Cook It Up (Hilarious song. PLEASE don't take it seriously.) and 11:35. Otherwise, the album was a shift away from Aesop's usual lyrical genius. For a year and a half, I was terrified that Aesop was going down the tubes like so many other hip-hop artists. When I listened to this EP, I breathed a sigh of relief. Holy Smokes is a song in which Aesop describes his religious history and convictions, and it is very well-written. Winners Take all is an excellent commentary on the military (backed up by a DOPE Rob Sonic beat, I might add). Food, Clothes, Medicine is a great song about social standards. Number Nine and Zodiaccupuncture don't have great lyrics, but the production makes up for it. Fast Cars and Rickety Rackety aren't great. Overall, this album is a redemption for Aesop Rock, and I'm interested to see his next full-length. Whenever it comes out.
Good S*** Yo.......2006-01-02
The Reason i gave it 4 stars is because there should of been

Aesop gets better and better.......2005-09-13
I've been a fan of Aesop rock for years. He kills it in shows, and his albums continually are more progressive than the last one. This album is more like Bazooka Tooth than any of his other EPs or LPs. The songs are lyrical bliss, each and every one of them is good. My favorites being Holy smokes and Zodiaccupunture.
Buy this album. The 80-page lyric booklet is worth it alone, but the cd is amazing as well. Aesop rock continues to push hip-hip forward, can't wait til his next release or the next time i see him live.
