D12 World [Explicit Lyrics]

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
You can say this about D12: few rap groups do a better job of straddling the line between the humorous and offensive, silly and sadistic. So when Eminem kick starts D12's sophomore effort by spewing vulgar rhymes to the tune of the adolescent "Name Game" on "Git Up," it's not entirely unexpected. But can D12 ever be considered anything other than an Eminem science project gone awry? "My Band," a pure novelty track (and this album's "Purple Pills"), addresses this question. Rather than lament the fact that nobody cares about the rest of the Em's crew, group members Proof, Kuniva, Swift, and Bizarre celebrate their obscurity while Shady himself croons a painfully catchy off-kilter hook. In fact, most of the crew's punch lines and hooks tend to be overshadowed by Him. Plus, Eminem produces a sizable chunk of the tracks, which is not necessarily a good thing considering his rhyme skills trump his beat-making skills considerably. With the exception of Mr. Proof's banging production on "Good Die Young" and Bizarre's creepy shock rap come-ons on "U R the One," D12's world sounds too much like an Eminem side project. Beat contributions by Kanye West (title cut) and Dr. Dre ("American Psycho 2") bolster the overall product, but not to the level of an Eminem solo album. --Dalton Higgins

4 out of 5 stars Alright, Devils Night Is Better .......2007-02-23

This is a good CD. Devils night is better though.

4 out of 5 stars Solid Album.......2006-08-08

I thought this was a pretty solid album overall. I agree that it does sound like the quintessential eminem-laced lp, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Of course there are the standard novelty tracks like My Band, but there are also some more developed cuts such as "keep talkin'" and "good die young." The latter track in specific is a very mature piece. The verse spit by Kuniva alone is nothing short of a masterpiece and proves, once again, that he is a highly underrated emcee. In the end, the album was a bit lacking in the instrumental department. I think some live instruments would have done a better job highlighting the nice flow that D12 has.

4 out of 5 stars Better Than I Originally Thought.......2006-08-03

at first when I bought this I thought, wow these guys made something not worth listening to. after a few listens, some songs really grew on me, and now I listen to some cuts on a regular basis and as a whole this is a good album, far from garbage like I originally thought.

first off, the single "my band" is d12's original style. if you don't like it then it's probably because everyone knows it or you don't like that kind of music, in which case you shouldn't be listening to rap in the first place. "40 oz" is the next single, and that song is FIRE from everyone. proof even outshines eminem on the last verse.

the rest of the songs range from decent to good. the song "bugz 97" is a skit with bugz freestyling, and it's a hot verse. bugz could have been on proof's level if he wasn't shot (r.i.p.).

overall a good album, eminem's production is really nice. the only thing that disappointed me was the kanye west track "d12 world" which wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

4/5 stars, r.i.p. proof.

4 out of 5 stars 3.5 Really.......2006-06-26

There debut was actually great and fun to listen to and this album is okay at best. Don't get me wrong there are a lot of great songs on here like "Keep Talking","How Come","40 Oz." and "American Psycho II. The rest are average but this is my opinion and should not make any difference because if you are a fan then this might be just as good as Devils Night for you but D12 World was a disappointed release for me. It is worth having in your collection if you are a fan of rap if not then stay away.

3 out of 5 stars A World With Some Dark Spots (3.5 stars).......2006-06-21

Eminem's group Dirty Dozen aka D12 (Eminem, Bizarre, Proof, Swifty, Kuniva, Kon Artis aka Mr. Porter) has had many joy times and many sad times throughout their career. With their most recent album D12 World, they were out again to show that they wern't just a sideshow to Eminem.

The album starts off on a strong point, with the songs "Git Up" and "Loyality". "40oz" would be another strong song, as it seems like their loud and club type songs would be their most sucessful. The Group also keeps their normal style of rapping on subjects that many people are used to such as "B***h" and "Get My Gun". "How Come" would be their second single, and I as of many people have an idea that it's dedicated to an old frined Royce The 5'9".

There are many parts of this album that the group falls flat when trying to impress an entire audience. "My Band" might have been aimed to impress listeners MTV wise, but fails miserably (seeing that was the first single). Bizarre would get his cut on a solo "Just Like U" with his perverted rhymes...shouldn't be suprising comming from him. "Leave Dat Boy Alone" is suffered by the singing of Eminem with a southern accent which sounds pathetic. The bonus song "Keep Talkin" just sounds completely terrible.

Two touching songs are towards the end of the album. "Bugz '97" is a rhyme that has late D12 member Bugz rhyming (possibly something they found digging in the crates), as the next track "Good Die Young" would be a song dedicated to him. The song hits even harder today because of the recent murder of member Proof who says "It ain't never late in the game, Satan remains/ with a grudge to see slugs break through my frame/ My heart aches with the pain, the light limits breath/ We gotta have fun now, there's only minutes left...," Damn...

Overall It's a decent sophomore album that D12 has made. It suffers some low points as well as it collects some high points. I recommend this to D12 fans, becuase they'll love it more than normal Eminem fans. It's glad to see that all members (including Bugz) were involved in this project. If you enjoyed this, I recommend that you search for D12 very frist album The Underground EP.

Rest In Peace Proof and Bugz

I got this CD because I like Eminem. He did a good job with this group... I like this CD a lot.

2 out of 5 stars Below Standard, Poor Performance.......2005-02-02

Can this be the same D-12 that packed in witty rhymes in a non-serious demeaner? Well, I guess this really does prove they are only a side-show. Eminem has different production, so the group will have different production. Eminem went more serious, now the group is more serious.

Besides that, Shady himself (or what is left of what he use to be) is basically a no-show. In any track Eminem's in, it's usually the strongest, and that is the case here; However, that doesn't mean he was great. That means the CD itself is misconfusion, contradiction, and a side-show for Eminem's next CD ("Encore", which was better then this, but not that great overall, as well).

D-12 is the commercials to the Eminem Show, everyone's just waiting to get in between them. That's the case here.

5 out of 5 stars Another Success for EminEm & D12.......2004-09-21

It's really good album especialy the "Git Up, My Band, How Come", I just keep listing to them all the day, Make sure to buy the album with the bonus DVD it's contains "My Band & 40 oz." Videos.

5 out of 5 stars THIS ALBUM IS AWESOME!!! ANOTHER GREAT D12 ALBUM!!!!!.......2004-07-30

Everytime I listen to this album, it sounds better and better! At first, I was not all into it. Now, after listening to it, on several occasions, I have really adapted to it.

The five best songs on the album are:

How Come
Keep Talkin
40 oz.
D-12 World
Just Like U
(This List Is In No Particular Order!!!)

I encourage everyone to go out and buy this album, pronto!!! Also, if you do not have the group's first album, Devil's Night, you should acquire it to!

4 out of 5 stars Devils Night is Better By Far.......2004-06-20

Well this cd in my opnion was good but Devils Night was better. How u ask with songs that have no sense to be made like 40 oz,My Band,D12 World,Every Skit,That old,old song Keep Talkin' and another old,old song 6 In The Morning (these songs were featured on The Invasion Part 2 & 3 Hosted by DJ Green Lantern).Without these tracks which i think were not good excpet Keep Talkin',6 In The Morning but the fact of these songs being old makes some of this CD a bunch of fillers. My band was probably the worst single this year released the only thing that was good was the video was funny and Bizarres verse was funny.Besides that the single sucked.Thats the bad part of D12 World. The good part is there are allot of good other tracks like (Loyalty,Git Up,Just Like U,Good Die Young,American Physco 2,Get My Gun). These were some good songs but Eminem switched up his style and its all weird in this CD.But listen to *Welcome 2 D-Block* on *Kiss of Death* he is back to his old self or *Warrior Part 2* on *The Hunger For More*.Anyway this CD was about 4 they didnt live up to the Hype or to Devils Night. They said they were gonna be more mature and make serious songs ala (My Band,40 ox,D12 World,Every Skit) they didnt become higher on a mature level they fell down a natch. But overall the CD wasnt that bad.But it could've been better if they took out those tracks and added new tracks and new skits.

3 out of 5 stars editing is overboard.......2007-01-15

this is a good cd.. d12 is funny and can be serious. there good, especially with eminem. the bad thing about this cd is the editing is too edited! its like buying a cd with like 15 skips per average song. but if ur the kinda person who likes not having any bad words at all pretty much. then git it.

best songs. how come,my band,40 oz, dude

1 out of 5 stars edited verzoin sux.......2005-06-18

the edited verzoin sucks they edited to much they cant say words like m 16 and pistole thats just stupid and they when they bleep a word out they skip it .Irecomend the unedited verzoin its a whole lot better dont waste your money on this one

5 out of 5 stars D12 World.......2005-04-09

D12 World

The group I'm doing a report on is called d12. The cd they made is called D12 world, its their newest cd. D12 does rap music and pop. The D12 world cd was released on April 27, 2004 and the price when it came out was $18.98.
My favorite rap's are 1.Git up 2. Loyalty 6.My band 8.6 in the morning 9.How come 10. Leave sat boy alone 11.git my gun 15.D12-world 16.40 oz and 18.American psycho II . Think the fans that listen to their new cd d12 world won't be disappointed. They will be very happy that they made this cd.
The cd that D12 made hasn't changed in style. There is 21 tracks on the cd. This cd doesn't compare to their other cd because the other cd, devils night doesn't have as many as good raps as on D12 world.
After I listened to a couple of raps, I couldn't stop listening to the rap and then I listened to the whole cd and it was better then listening to one rap. The type of person who would like this cd would be a kind of person who likes rap, Eminem, and d12.
The type of person that wouldn't like this cd would be the type of person who likes country and into rock and who doesn't like gansters. The artists have been well-known to everyone that likes rap their really popular than anyone else in rap except for Eminem (also in D12). The other cd they have made was called Devils night.

5 out of 5 stars Buy this cd.......2005-01-26

Just bought this thing and hell it rocks, its a must buy for any eminem / d12 fan. Instead of rating all the songs and that take my word buy it. Editing, fairly good job, little bit overboard but who really cares. BUY!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars good.......2004-08-18

this is a good cd they have 3 hits so far on the cd My Band, 40 oz, and How Come. I think the next one will be Git up.

2 out of 5 stars The Morning After.......2004-06-04

Seeming like a million years ago, this substandard sophomore album by Eminem's tag alongs, leaves us wishing for Devil's night. I was very suprised by that first album. It was creative but not searching, violent and crude and sick and new. D 12 World meets none of these requirements. Most of the songs are like, eh. Most of them are like, "big deal". I was bored by the time my band came on and it isn't even that good of a song. Poor your forty out was decent, but I kept waiting for lil' John to come on the track. Steal this album if you get a chance because if you buy it D 12 will owe you.

5 out of 5 stars Overview.......2004-05-04

1. Git Up - (5/5) I really enjoyed this song. It has a good tempo and pretty good lyrics. Good first track, it introduces the style of the CD.

2. Loyalty - (3/5) Decent. Has a nice techo sound in the background that fits in well. Manages to keep you listening to it though.

3. Just Like U - (4/5) Brings us back to the Eminem we're used to. The rest of the group keeps the song dirty though ;).

4. I'll Be Damned - (2/5) Has a nice old school feel to it. Lyrics could have been better, and the chorus could have flowed better.

5/6. Dude (Skit)/My Band - (5/5) We all know this song by now. It has a tendency to make people laugh when they hear it, plus the end is funny. I still love it.

7. U R The One - (4/5) I like this song alot. The chorus flows alot better than some of the other songs, and the beat is catchy.

8. 6 In The Morning - (1/5) One of the worst songs on the CD. The beat doesn't change at all between the chorus and verses.

9. How Come - (4/5) Good beat, better lyrics. I like the message in the song too. Flows VERY well, one of their best songs on the CD.

10. Leave Dat Boy Alone - (3/5) Kind of a stupid song, but that's the D12 style we've all grown accustomed to.

11. Get My Gun - (5/5) Funny as hell. Great fast song, great beat, funny and good lyrics. The chorus is great. Excellent representation of traditional D12.

12/13. Bizzare/Bitch - (5/5) One of my favorites by D12 ever. Great job by Eminem on the sped rap. The chorus is funny as well (Wonder who'd have guessed?).

14. Steves Coffee House - (-10/5) ....What the hell was the damn point of this....Don't listen to it.

15. D12 World - (2/5) Not what I expected for a title track. Repetitive beat, boring lyrics. Not very good at all.

16. 40 oz. - (10/5) Hands down the greatest song I've ever heard by D12. Slightly repetitive, but still great overall. The lyrics are top notch.

17. Commercial Break - (1/5) They aren't good at skits, they should leave their skills to music.

18. American Psycho 2 - (4/5) I love the rock guitar with the rap beat. It plays well. It has a good beat and Cypress Hill does the chorus well.

19. Bugz 97 - (1/5) Skit...

20. Good Die Young - (4/5) The chorus doesn't mix at all, the voices clash. The beat for the song is good though, so I left it at a 4.

21. Keep Talkin' - (5/5) Funny diss to Ja Rule. I'm glad they made this. The song could totally suck but it would still deserve a 5 for who it's written towards.

22. Barbershop - (5/5) Definately one of the strangest songs on the CD. Nice tune, good beat, strange lyrics. Great song overall.

23. Slow Your Roll - (4/5) Nice extra track, not the better of the two extras, but good in itself.

5 out of 5 stars D12 World.......2004-04-30

Awesome cd, but the song "My Band" has been getting played like every 30 mins. or so and it is already getting annoying. All and all I would buy the cd again, it is well worth it because the song "My Band" is actually one of the weakest songs on the cd. So go with what ya feel but if ya like D12 this is a must have cd.

5 out of 5 stars Dont listen to haters.......2004-06-12

Yo dogg, Esham and Natas are tight in their own way butthere lyrics are weak and rarely rhyme and there beats are a little short of a bad techno gay club. Esham had his time but he played himself out when he went to ICP camp with that wack CD talking about all the stuff he was talking about and claiming all those years on his albums was just a joke. Yo, I must admit as a hip hop fan and a Michigan native I do have many of Esham and Natas old albums but they are not nearly at the talent level of D-12 I'm not gonna say they are wack cuz I don't hate. Besides Esham got his head stopped by D-12 at the Warped Tour. And I'm not hatin you know cause thats the truth. Peace

5 out of 5 stars Please don't listen to the Hater above........2004-06-12

Yo D-12 is hot, D-12 brought into the rap game that other rappers didnt have the balls to. Take it from a true hip hop fan. This CD is hot. I like the first album better but that does'nt mean this CD isnt good. It's definitely worth the money and the time. Don't listen to haters like those above that don't have any other reason not to like this album other than their jealousy. You can not like this album but please my people don't hate on their talent. Holla!

5 out of 5 stars buy this !!!!! there is nothing better.......2004-05-14

If you like "my band", you will surely enjoy the rest of the songs on "d12 world" they are much better than "my ban". "40 oz" is going into the good direction. But my favourites are "get my gun" and "Bitch". Two very, very, very good songs. Maybe the best songs Eminem ever sang.
If you are a fan of Eminem, you will also enjoy listening to "How come", a true Eminem story about Kim.
Fans of Bizarre will like "Bitch" as well and "Just like U", because those are the two songs Bizarre is the best in. His lyrics are just amazing.
And even fans of Cypress Hill will be satisfied because there is a very good song with B-real, "american psycho II".

So there are just two words left for me to say: BUY IT !!!!!

1 out of 5 stars do NOT buy any d12.......2004-05-09

d12 are mainstream what rap is NOT about, there lyrics are COMPLETELY wack, and the beats are just as bad. just listen to "40 oz." that song absolutely cracks me up....not because it is a funny song - the song has the worst lyrics ever none of them make sense AT ALL and the beat is pathetic, but the reason it cracks me up is because d12 cop what all the great rappers rap about. N.W.A, Eazy-E, DJ Quik, 8 Ball, etc, they all have there 40 Oz/8 Ball song, and now d12 think there so good so do the same, they probably dont even drink at all but think that since the ORIGINAL groups did it to success then they can. They make 40 oz bottles sound like a disgrace and that no one should ever drink. They copy esham and his group natas with the topics they rap about, but d12's lyrics fall WAY below natas and esham.

The bottom line is - DONT BUY THIS TRASH
