Huston's finest, Chamillionaire, along with the 'Color Changin Click' boys, come out from their underground mix-tape days and step up into the major leagues, with King Koopa's(chamillonaire) debut record 'Sound of Revenge'.
Chamillionaire gets all the people in the clubs to come out on the floor, with the big bangers like 'ridin' and 'turn it up', he gives million dollar beats but with some meaningful lyrics, this guy isen't about how many b*tchs he can get in one night, he's about showing the people that rap means more than thugs with baggy pants and not everyone who has big chains and tall tees are criminals. But don't think that because this guys diffrent, it dosent make him bad. All of his tracks give some great thumps and some of the most ground breaking chain of ryhmes I've ever heard. He's got all of the dirty south's top tier names, he's got southern legend Scarface, the king of underground Krayzie Bone, with Lil Flip, B Bun, Killer Mike, Lil Wayne, even his brother Rasaq.
Basically, it comes to this, Sound of Revenge is one of the best albums out on market, he's giving the people what they want, and its good. Real good.(Sophmore album 'Ultimate Victory' comes out July 6)

What Was He Tryna Prove?.......2006-11-03
Lets get one thing straight. Before this album, Chamillionaire wasnt singin, he was snappin. When Lil Flip dropped with the freestyling mixtapes, a Paul Wall and Chamillionaire mixtape with freestyles was the next best thing. You could count 50 punchlines in every song. Now he sounds like 50 cent long lost brother. he even look like him now. The album straight because he jumped on real topics, but he aint a real topic artist. Why is everybody from Texas switchin up tryna prove that they hard or something. its just entertainment. U could probably try Devin the Dude in the streets and get yo head blown smooth off... but he dont say that on every song.

The Absolute Sound has been a premiere audiophile rag for decades. If you are one, you already know them. If not, then there is only a small chance their magazine will be useful to you. They have another publication for home theatre, "Perfect Vision" which has far broader appeal these days. SACD is the format for this disk. Many of them are pressed in "hybrid" for use on conventional CD players. SACD is a significant improvement on the CD, which initially promised "perfect sound forever".
Telarc is a particularly high quality label that supports SACD. They have a fine list of recordings that extends far beyond these chestnuts.
To appreciate this improvement you need to have a SACD player. So the best use of this disk is to bring it with you to different audio stores to audition their equipment. Over time it functions as a reference disk, or benchmark, as you compare different sound systems.
Because it has only bleeding hunks of well known classical music, it has little other value unless you are interested in classical music but have little experience of it. In that case it may serve as a sampler to lead you to buy complete recordings of these selections. But again you need the SACD player, which you may already have if you are a jazz or rock audiophile. Otherwise, pass it by.

Album Description
"A remarkable recording." - REPERTOIRE
The nature of Alexander's Feast is perhaps better summed up by its other title, The Power of Music. It is a celebratory ode for St. Cecilia's Day, written by Dryden in 1697 for the traditional celebration of the patron saint of music and set in celebratory style by Handel in 1736. At its first performance that year, he incorporated two delightful concertos, one for harp and one for organ, and these are included on this recording. Winner of the Deutschen Schallplattenkritic prize.
Customer Reviews:
Spirited performance of charming work.......2007-03-10
This performance of Alexander's Feast is, in my opinion, exactly right for the work; beautiful, clear voices singing the solos with good diction, a lovely balance in the small chorus, and superb playing of appropriate instruments for the piece and for the period. The notes on the flyer are also excellent, presenting the background and intention of the work.
Alexander's Feast - English version.......2006-02-26
This recording is a very complete version of Alexander's Feast, following the composer's practice of inserting other pieces to create a performance of appropriate length. Excellent soloists, orchestra, and chorus. A high quality recording.
One of Handel's great works.......2005-11-19
I just attended a live performance of Alexander's Feast and I saw many people who probably never heard anything else than Messiah, suddenly finding out that there is more to Handel than Hallelujah chorus. This music is exciting and original, you may know several arias like "War he said is toil and trouble" or "Revenge!" but it is great as a complete work. It was written for St. Cecilia's Day celebration, then re-written several times, but it remains as a beautiful example of Handel's mastery in choral composition and writing showcase arias. The soloists are great, especially Ian Partridge, and the chorus is outstanding. This is a wonderful performance of one of Handel's great works.
Handel's Great "Feast" in an Impeccable Rendition.......2005-08-22
"Alexander's Feast," Handel's 1736 setting of Dryden's ode in honor of St. Cecilia's Day (patron saint of music) is a masterpiece and a delight, but its odd length - too long for a mixed program, too short for a full evening - gave Handel trouble and apparently still presents a problem: this is at present the only recording of this inspired work in the catalogue, though some good ones have come and gone. Fortunately, this reissue of the Sixteen's 1990 version is first-rate, in fact the best I ever recall hearing, with chorus, orchestra, soloists and conductor all in top form. Furthermore, music director Harry Christophers has wisely chosen to include the two concerti - one for harp, the other for organ - that Handel inserted in his original performances. Not only do they lengthen the piece to a satisfactory 115', they serve a satisfactory dramatic purpose by representing respectively the power of music in its pagan form - the bard Timotheus's lyre represented by the harp - and Christian - Cecilia's (apocryphal) organ. Both receive sparkling interpretations here.
If you enjoy such Handel works as "L'Allegro..." and "Acis and Galatea," you will certainly enjoy "Alexander's Feast," which finds the composer in peak form, responding with eagerness to the high quality of the English verse before him. And it's hard to imagine a better way to get to know it than this wonderful performance.

You can judge a book by its cover. .......2006-11-04
I origonally came across Love Is the Greatest Revenge on clearance at Half Priced Books. I'd never heard of the band but I liked the cover and loved the message and the title, so I decided to wing it. I love the album, especially because it's different from anything I've heard. There are only a few songs that I could do without (promise ring and waiting room) which is really good for for someone as hard to please as I am. I highly recomend it!
There is a reason everyone is giving them 5 stars.......2006-06-22
When I purchased my Dell computer recently, I noticed a pre-loaded program on it called, "Instant Party". This was pretty cool. It had about 100 songs or more loaded incorporated with a visual effect as the songs play.
As I kept listening there were 3 songs in particular that I just kept going back to. After further investigation, I found that the same artist was responsible for the 3 songs I liked. The artist, "Tremolo". The songs, "Can You Feel It Now?", "Baby Blue", and "You Were Born For This"
I went to amazon.com and purchased the CD. I was amazed that they supposedly contribute 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this CD to charity work. It was apparent to me that this band has a greater purpose. I was amazed. And when you factor in that the music is actually really good, then you have a winner. This music is as fresh as it gets. I predict in a couple of months this band will take off to superstardom.
I will give you some of my personal thoughts on each song in the order that I came to like it.
"Can You Feel It Now?"
The first song and the hook song for me as far as being even remotely interested in this band. FRESH, energetic, unique.
"You Were Born For This"
Clearly the BEST song on this album. I rank it second only because "Can You Feel It Now?" was the first song to get me. Another upbeat song. At times, listening to the backup vocals in the background reminds me of the theme song to the television show "Friends", but beyond that, clearly the #1 on this CD.
"Baby Blue"
Is this song about an orphan? Very sad lyrics, although it has a driving beat and a very catchy tune. I can't get this song out of my head. And for now, that's not a bad thing.
"Evil Twin"
Very clever and comical song in my mind. Cool Tune. Nice backbeat. Resembles a Lenny Kravitz type song. "He's my next of kin, opposite of Zen, meet my evil twin".. funny.
"Promise Ring"
Warm, eerie at times, nice drum sound selection to match this song. After the first set of versus, during the break, I wish the strings would have gone right back down to their first note following the incline. "Hello you, Hello me".. catchy tune.
"I Believe (Love is the Greatest Revenge)"
"I believe in you I do I do I do believe in you even if you're not around, you're still in my life" - That's the catch to this song. Nice song, mellow, moderate tempo.
"New Eyes for a New World"
It took me a while to like this song, only because the very beginning sounds SO MUCH like U2.. and I've never been a U2 fan. After a few listens, and mentally blocking the U2 sound, I like it. Good drumming. I would encourage all of the U2 haters not to listen to this song first. Come back to it after you've been hooked on the rest of the CD.
AND IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER..
"Waiting Room"
Up tempo. Cool tune. It needs something else to me. Has potential.
"Room 139"
Isn't this a No Doubt song? The beginning sounds like something I've heard from No Doubt. Then it goes into this funky 80's sounding song. I almost want to sing "Come on Eileen" to it.
"Down to Beautiful"
Nice. I haven't found anything too special about this song yet. I'm going to give it some more listens.
"We are the New Black"
"This is a public service announcement". Kind of strange, but this is one of those songs that I am sure I will love in another week or so. Lots of potential.
"Wait Up for Me"
Somber, resolved song that belongs at the end, and I don't mean that in a negative way. I believe song placement is very important on a CD and this is a great song to end the CD with.. right before you go back to song number 1 again. Leaves you with a good feeling.
Overall, I found this CD very enjoyable. I have yet to discover it in full as I kept listening to the same 3 songs over and over and have just recently started listening to the other songs on the CD. I didn't hear any curse words and I don't believe there are any. I would highly recommend this CD. You had better start listening to them now, so you can claim that you have been a fan all along when they get big.
Such a Happy Peppy Catchy Album.......2006-06-21
Looking for a Pop Rock Album that will make you sing along and be happy all summer? This is the album you need. The songs remind me of U2 at times. Some of the songs affect me the same way as the best songs by Paul McCartney, wonderful melodies that I can't help but sing along with. The lyrics are positive, clean, amusing, and upbeat. I highly recommend this album to anyone who loves good pop music. This is mainstream Rock at its best. I can't wait to tell others 20 years from now that I got hooked on the DEBUT album.
Excellent.......2006-05-29
I really liked this CD. Great songs, haunting singer that also rocks. Deep messages in the songs. Excellent lyrics. Loved it. Singer has such emotion and passion in his singing.
Even Grandmas love the music!.......2005-11-16
Not only did a grandma but a grandpa love this music. It made Christmas shopping easier this year with lots of copies bought for friends and family. Also appreciate the idea of 50% of royalties donated to change the world. We challenge all grandparents to unite in buying this CD and showing we are not to old to enjoy good music.

Amazon.com essential recording
Bryn Terfel has it all. His rich, deep baritone voice is capable of navigating the rapids and doing the vocal leaps and cartwheels that Handel routinely demands of his singers, even the ones with big, deep voices that usually move more slowly. He is Welsh, and in his mastery of words--clarity of projection and precise emotional expression--he calls to mind another great Welsh performer, Richard Burton. This recital, accompanied by Sir Charles Mackerras with skill and sensitivity, runs the whole gamut of Handel's vocal styles, from military bluster (powerfully present in the first aria, "Arm, arm, ye brave") to humble piety (in the second selection, "Vouchsafe, O Lord"). There is erotic awe in "Where'er you walk," comic grotesquerie in "O ruddier than the cherry," and pure splendor in "The trumpet shall sound." A marvelous recital. --Joe McLellan
Customer Reviews:
Great fun and a tour de force for Bryn Terfel.......2005-09-18
Bryn Terfel's flexible, powerful, and velvety (give me a better adjective for this) voice is well suited to navigating the variety of bombastic and melodramatic arias characterizing Handel's various offerings. These are well punctuated by more tender passages which the composer was equally adept at producing. All in all a most satisfying recording that I seem never to tire of hearing.
Outstanding variety of Baritone Repertoire.......2004-02-19
Bryn Terfel offers an engaging sound, and a very historically accurate performance of the works, other than the arias that were originally written for counter tenors. For all Baritones and Basses, and those studying and teaching the repertoire, this is a must have CD, as it employs an outstanding combination of the finest arias and the most often performed.
"I rage, I rage, I melt, I burn!".......2003-11-06
This CD showcases popular Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel raging, melting, and burning his way through a wonderful variety of Handel arias (although I would have left out the 'Messiah' selections and gone for a few of Handel's 2,000 or so less-recorded songs).
According to Gerald Abraham in "Handel, a Symposium" the heroes that Terfel chose to bring to life in this recording generally had high soprano voices. Tenors and baritones were relegated to subordinate parts, and basses to those of tyrants or sages: "... in modern revivals of Handel's operas it is generally fatal to give [the castrato] parts to tenors or baritones to sing an octave lower."
In the first selection, Terfel takes on the role of Simon, brother of Judas Maccabaeus, which was originally a bass role. Critic Abraham could not object to this, although he might have a problem with the transposition of the arias for Demetrius ("Berenice, Queen of Egypt"), Caesar ("Julius Caesar in Egypt"), and Xerxes ("Xerxes"). If you are a purist, this CD might not be for you, but you'll miss out on some grand singing.
I'm especially fond of Terfel's handling of the slow, reflective arias "Verdi prati, selve amene" from 'Alcina,' and "Ombra mai fu" from 'Xerxes' (often called "Handel's Largo" despite the composer's "larghetto" marking). Here, the singer shuns lachrymose emoting. It is the purity of his tone and choice of dynamics that touch the heart.
"O ruddier than the cherry" from "Acis and Galatea" is robustly sung by the love-sick Polyphemus/Terfel. In spite of the buoyant central rhythm, every word is clearly enunciated. The preceding, accompanied recitative "I rage, I rage, I melt, I burn!" is a masterful, shimmering growl of emotion.
Along with Xerxes's plane tree and Polyphemus's cherries, Terfel returns to an arboreal subject in "Where'er you walk" from Semele. His command of musical and textual nuance is impressive in this tenderly sung aria. The ornamentation by Sir Charles Mackerras enhances rather than detracts from this beautiful love song.
Another highlight of this CD is Terfel's interpretation of "Revenge, revenge, Timotheus cries" from "Alexander's Feast." He snarls through the trumpets with frenzied, dead-on ornamentation. However there are a few unusual hesitations, such as a slight pause between 'Timotheus' and 'cries,' and at first hearing, I didn't care for them. Now they make textual sense to me. His hissing snakes and sparkling eyes are flawlessly emphasized. Each melisma is rhythmically unique and perfectly inflected.
The last three selections from Handel's "Messiah" are unfortunately rather ordinary. "Why do the nations" has a strange repeat, and Terfel seems to be singing it up into his mask which makes it sound two-dimensional. There is also a little too much flattening or 'whitening' of the melismas, plus an occasional unattractive growl. I much prefer Samuel Ramey's deep, seamless coloratura in these three bass arias.
Perhaps Handel's "Messiah" is one of those works that truly separates the bass-baritones from the basses.
Other than the above complaint, Bryn Terfel pays grand homage to the dramatic tension, the text, and the musicality of Handel's arias.
Gran trabajo Bryn!.......2003-10-05
LISTEN TO TERFEL.......2002-02-03
Since leading roles for bass-baritones in the operas of Handel are very, very rare, it is quite doubtful that we'll soon be seeing operatic super-star BRYN TERFEL in any international theatre performing what he says is a great love of his. This is truly a pity since it is more than a little uncommon to see and hear acting as fine as Terfel's coupled with a voice as rich and expressive as his.
Just a few nights ago, I was watching a television concert from Europe in which Anne Sofie von Otter sang 'Carmen' to Terfel's 'Escamillo' in selections from Bizet's opera. The old war horse 'The Toreador Song' has never sounded this fresh and exciting. Terfel can do what few others in his profession know how to do: he gets into the words as well as the music; he actually plays the character and presents what the composer and librettist might only have dreamed about.
Handel's operas, all of them so difficult in their coloratura passages, are seldom actually acted. One might as well just hear a concert version. But Terfel, as proven in this recording, acts as well as sings. My favorites include arias from JULIUS CAESAR and ALCINA, but every band on this CD is a winner.
Gorgeously conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, the recording includes arias from the famous oratorios as well as from the operas: JUDAS MACCABAEUS and ALEXANDER'S FEAST are especially beautifully performed. And if you are used to a pallid, rumbling, muffled bass in your annual production of MESSIAH, listen to Terfel. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Customer Reviews:
A Purcell Sampler, or a Greatest Hits disk, if you prefer........2006-02-05
This is a compilation disk of Greatest Hits, as it were, of Henry Purcell recorded by various artists from 1953 (the Alfred Deller track) through the 1970s through 1994. The point of the disk was part of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the much to early death of this great composer and one of the great geniuses of music that England or Britain has ever produced. I have always been a devotee of his music and absolutely adore the way he set English. It is absolutely unique to him and so full of wonderful effects that create a greater whole than the music or words alone.
1995 was a year when we got to revel in everything Purcell. I was able to see a very delightful staging of "The Indian Queene" in London at the Barbican. It had narration, dancing, the singing, and wonderful playing. At the other portion of the concert, I enjoyed a performance of "Come, Ye Sons of Art" and other works by Hogwood et al. I was hoping to hear Kirkby, and she was billed. However, she was ill. Catherine Bott did a fine job as did John Bowman (both on this disk). Another counter-tenor I was so impressed with was Robin Blaze. I haven't heard much of him since, but he was terrific that night.
There are selections from his works for stage such as "King Arthur", "The Fairy Queen", Did and Aneas, and more. The disk also provides a selection of instrumental works, some sacred selections, and all the works are a delight. The track of "Come, Ye Sons of Art" is from 1953 and recorded by Alfred Deller. If you love the movement of historically informed performance, you do owe some debt to Deller. He was an early reviver of the counter-tenor voice and trying to create a style of performance that might be more appropriate and true to the music of earlier times. He helped bring about new interest in madricals, and other early music forms.
That Emma Kirkby sings on the disk is, of course, a delight for me. I have been captivated by her singing since I first heard her live in December 1980. We also get to delight in the singing of soprano Catherine Bott and counter-tenor John Bowman. All are led by the great Christopher Hogwood (except for the Deller track, obviously).

Amazon could you please post my review please? (I am asking nicely).......2006-12-02
Just got back from the winter ball, and - , Im in for some rap bashing. You wanna know how - the music was? Well, thank god I had Suffocation in my walkman. I actually had to go in the bathroom and headbang to calm down after hearing that -. Next time DJ, play variety, you stupid - of -. I can stand rap for a little, but give it up. Not everyone else wants to hear - rap like this for three whole - hours.
Now to this POS. Chamillionare is slow, stupid, moronic, idiotic, reatard, and a complete stupid one hit wonder that you already know got in the record deal by - his - producer's -. This is how it went out.
[censored by your "friends" at amazon. Have a nice day).
Sound of Revenge? Okay, if you think you can get revenge on your teachers, or you parents, keep dreaming, idiot. The only anger you have is when your "girls" won't get off of you when your trying to -off to your - - magazine.
Lasting impressions? Yeah, the dance was a letdown. As a matter of fact, I actuallyt put on my headphones AT THE DANCE FLOOR. Sure, I looked like an idiot, but at least they can listen to their mindless - while I dance in synch with the music while the girls and guys strangly are in tune with "Julie's Been Working For The - Squad".
Goin' Hard in 2005.......2006-04-07
This is tha best album to come out in the entire year of 2005. My favorite tracks are; Ridin' (feat. Krayzie Bone), Southern Takeover (feat. Killer Mike & Pastor Troy), & Void In My Life. But Cham still went hard on the whole album. The tracks were fresh and the features were unexpected. He really gave his rivals, (Mike Jones & Paul Wall of The SwishaHouse) a listen of how hard he can go in the booth. Chamillionaire really is King Koopa, the Mixtape Messiah. This definitley was The Sound Of Revenge. CHAMILLITARY MAN!!!
Changing Tha Game.......2006-02-25

BEST S&C EVER.......2006-08-23
this is by far the best S&C i've ever heard. i love the S&C version of "Void in My Life",the deep bass literaly moved my speakers 3 feet from the wall.
i was suprised.......2006-07-03
before this album i had heard paul wall's S&C cd which basically was really sloppy in work. I could i actually say it was anoying to hear the people's champ in the S&C cd. But as soon as i saw it was OG Ron C(and not Micheal 500 watts). I had faith this would be a dope cd to listen to. It raised my standards in screwed in chopped music back to when Dj screw was alive. I actually enjoyed The sounds of revenge (S&C) in opposed to that i usually enjoy the regular cd better. OG Ron C does a great job. Other Dj should learn from him.
Overall great cd if you are into screwed and chopped.
Chooped Up & Not Slopped Up (R.I.P. DJ Screw).......2006-04-11
O.G. Ron C did a good job Screwin' & Choopin'. He really gave the rest of tha U.S. a taste of Texas (Tha Lone Star State). Tha best time to listen to any screwed & chopped music [SwishaHouse, Chamillitary, D.S.R.(Dirty South Rydaz)] is you are throwed (drunk) off that syrup. This was a good thing that O.G. Ron C did, Choppin' Boyz Up & Not Sloppin' Boyz Up. CHAMILLITARY MAN!!!
