While its companion disc Suit offers Nelly at his most mature and refined, Sweat takes direct aim at the "Hot in Herre" crowd. Why not? "Hot in Herre" has reached karaoke proportions. Nelly wastes little time here in reminding everyone just how great he is on "Na-Nana-Na," where he recites an inventory of his accomplishments over a smattering of found sounds and drum breaks. The Neptunes-hemmed "Flap Your Wings" may reestablish him as the king of club rap, with its infectious "drop down and get your eagle on, girl" chant that comes with an accompanying dance. "Tilt Ya Head Back," featuring a subpar Christina Aguilera, and the dubby "River Don't Runnn" are both confounding yet genetically engineered for radio airplay. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Who else would have the nerve to re-jig the instantly recognizable John Tesh "NBA on NBC" theme ("Heart of a Champion") into a hip-hop club track? --Dalton Higgins

A "Hybrid Theory" original!.......2007-07-25

Famously blending Big Band, Blues, and Rock, 9 of the 13 tracks feature David Clayton-Thomas at his best, which is really the only BST most of us are interested in. If you've ever heard "Spinning Wheel" on the radio and liked it, you're in for a real treat - it's what you hoped for. I'm only sorry there isn't more!

Buy the 1st two albums.......2006-08-06

I love the bands early hits from the first two albums: Child is father to the Man (1st album) and Blood Sweat and Tears (2nd album). All the tracks on this compilation are from the first 5 albums, however, I think only the really good hits are really from the 1st two albums, and like another reviewer said, THESE ARE NOT THE FULL LENGTH SONGS! The CD is only flippin' 48 minutes for crying out loud! They could of at least put the real versions on it to fill it up, or put on more songs. I don't understand compilations like this. So if your looking where to start collecting from this jazz/rock/psychedelic/blues based band, start with the first two albums, you'll be a heck of a lot happier.

The best sounding release of this classic greatest hits comp.......2006-08-03

This is an excellent sounding reissue of a classic LP and this CD is worth buying for either diehards or the casual fans: The original LP is all mono using the 45 versions, and while there were very early CDs that used the LP master, but the stereo collector community complained so Columbia remastered the disc to use the stereo LP versions to please the stereo oriented collectors in a hurry. In 1999, the Greatest Hits LP was reissued again on CD, this time using the 45 versions in stereo that came from the promo 45 stereo single masters and this release became the first time the 45 versions ended up available in stereo for wide release. So collectors, audiophiles and casual fans should buy this CD. If you want a greatest hits collection with the LP versions, buy the "What Goes Up?" 2 CD set or track down one of the 1980s CDs of this compilation that use the LP versions.

Beautiful, Beautiful Music! Great Remastering Job too!.......2005-08-20

To think that this cd basically landed on my lap as an accidental gift the details of which I'll spare you all; otherwise, I'd never have had the opportunity to listen to BS&T!

I don't have the whole albums but judging this particular cd on its own merits, I'd say that this is definitely a keeper! The remastering was very well done and the sound quality is very, very good. I liked this so much that I chose the first track to be the opening track for my wedding reception cd that I compiled 3 years ago.

Although the tracks are arrangements of other people's work unlike Chicago which uses its own material, I'm not too bothered about that so long as the arrangements are either better than the original or put a whole new artistic twist on them. Both cases are true here in this great compilation album.

With the resurgence of Michael Buble and the swing time music these days, maybe it's time B,S & T got some more airtime as well? No dud tracks here at all and I'm glad that fortune smiled on me a few years back and dropped this cd on my lap.

Wanna get one cd that's representative of the band? You can't go wrong with this! It's made me so very happy for some time now.

Greatest Hits, but not the Greatest Cuts from the Albums.......2005-07-01

BS&T was one of the finest jazz/rock bands. Personally, I like them better than Chicago (although I am quite fond of them as well).

The selections on this CD are fine if you want only the Top 40 versions rather than the definitive album versions. "Spinning Wheel" for example, fades out just as the end instrumentals start to get interesting.

Although this is a good choice for those seeking an inexpensive introduction to the group, I would recommend the albums. Virtually all of the tracks on the albums (especially "The Child is Father to the Man" and the self-titled "Blood, Sweat & Tears") are excellent and the mastering is (in my opinion) much better.

Barely out of high school when signed as the first act for Powered By Ramen's new Decaydance imprint, guitarist Ryan Ross and drummer Spencer Smith of Panic! at the Disco had previously cut their musical teeth in a local Las Vegas Blink 182 cover band. It's that familiar, contempo-punk-pop sensibility, bolstered by the amped-up emo-core ambitions of singer Brendan Urie (typified by the snarky gem "The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage") that dominates the opening tracks of the album. It's a shrewd hook, one the band steadily expands -- sonically and lyrically -- thereafter. The nervous energy of "London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines" is set off by sonic embroidery that's sounds as intriguing as the vocoder shtick of "Nails For Breakfast..." does dated. Yet "Camisado" quickly shakes up Supertramp's prog-pomp with a double-shot of modern punk-pop smarts, an alchemy the band and producer Mint Squire performs with similarly inventive, genre-blurring ambition (complete with a quasi-Grand Guignol "Intermission" nearly worthy of Queen) on "Lying is the Most Fun..." and such standouts as "But Its Better If You Do" and the arch delight "Build God, Then We'll Talk." I love this CD. I remember not liking them because of some sort of misconception I had about them. I think I am not alone in completely missing out because of a widespread false perception of them and their music.

They are really wonderful musicians and performers and songwriters and this CD is so unique. It draws on a lot of varied musical influences and manages to sound new and interesting. Even within the CD there is a startling variety of sound. Dance music, a piano piece, cabaret-rock.

I can't wait for their next CD and I hope they're making music together for a long time.

Intelligent, humourous and self-aware - popular music at it's best........2007-06-23

This has to be one of my favourite albums of recent years.

These guys have taken a lot of unfair criticism for their style but they are very smart about what they do - they know what is popular while still retaining their own distinct sound.

I love that synthesizers are making a come back. The synthesis of rock and electronica is done perfectly - I just wish they had kept their demos for the album too. They are more fun than the album versions are are more electronically influenced.

Perhaps I'm biased because I am primarily a fan of electronic music, but I really do think these guys have created the perfect blend. They don't overdo the electronic elements so people who are not too keen on that kind of sound won't have to hear it for long.

Again, brilliant album. We can only hope the sophomore effort exceeds their debut.

A Feaver you can't sweat out.......2007-06-15

"Let's get these teen hearts beating faster, faster!" Those are the chorus lines for one of Panic! at the Disco' s songs. They have gotten America's teens wanting more, quicker than most people thought possible.

Sounding really similar to the hit band Fall Out Boy, Panic! has become almost as famous. Even Pete Wentz, Fall Out Boy's bass player, didn't think they would make it big time, but Panic! exceeded expectations and made it far in the world of music.

Their first big hit, "I write sins not trageties" got everybody wanting more out of this new band. Another of their hits is "Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off".

Panic! has taken rock and made it darker and more emotional. Stories of love, dissapointment and death mixed in, to make one magnificent album.

The only thing that was dissapointing about this CD is that it only has thirteen songs and they're all just over three minutes long. That isn't a lot for the eighteen dollars paid for it.

There are only four people responsible for Panic!'s success. Those four people are Brendon Urie, Ryan Ross, Brent Wilson and Spencer Smith. These four talented musicians make up the muical phenomenon known as Panic! at the disco.

The more I listen to A Feaver You Can't Sweat Out, the more I love it. I always hear something new that I haven't heard before.

All in all, this album is extremly amazing musical experience that anybody will enjoy. "Will you dance to this beat and hold a lover close?"

I consider Panic! at the Disco my ultimate guilty pleasure. My friends would slam me for listening to these guys, but when I go home at night, and I pop this CD in, I don't care because it is fun to listen to. It's a lot better than a lot of other mainstream music out there these days.

An album I can't figure out.......2007-05-06

I'm not sure if it would be fair to classify Panic! At the Disco as an emo band because there seems to be more influences in their music; for example, an abundance of dominating keyboards here and there. Anyway, after hearing some talk about these high school buddies-turned-rock stars, I decided to see what their album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out had to offer.

This is another one of those albums that took a while to really get to the masses, considering it came out in 2005. But what the album has to offer is a whole lot of confusion AND comparison. For one thing, guitarist Ryan Ross wrote all the songs on the album, and when I looked at the lyrics I scratched my head as to what in God's name he's talking about. I mean, I even ask that when looking at the otherwise listenable singles "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" and "But It's Better If You Do".

Another thing is, well, sorry, but it's hard not to compare Panic to Fall Out Boy. Basically, reviewer Kathryn Jago took the words right out of my mouth, but I'll still throw in my two cents. First off, frontman Brendon Urie is a good vocalist and all, but he sounds a little too much like Patrick Stump. Second, you can sort of tell that Panic is signed to FOB bassist Pete Wentz's label because this album also is mostly made up of songs that not only have way-too-long titles, but the titles are never actually said in ANY of the songs. (That's not necessarily a bad thing, but considering how the album is structured, it doesn't exactly HELP matters either.) And while I understand that the techno interlude "Intermission" is just that, it's still pretty pointless.

Panic! At the Disco would be a lot better if they had more individuality, and if Ryan wrote much better material. At this point, if someone asked me for a short opinion on A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, I'd say, "Don't sweat it."

A cult band with immortal creative breadth!.......2006-12-05

Many times you must feel the impression that the music produced by everlasting bands will stand forever, due it doesn't' t age a bit and as the good wine improves throughout the times.

Blood sweat and tears was one these bands anointed by that special ability to conquer your spirit and mood. Music that simply mocks about the small hands of the time and the conventionalism of the fashion.

What else may I add? . Acquire this album due it's part of the vertiginous sixties.

Just so absolutely fine.......2006-08-10

For me this was a real rediscovery, because I wasn't really listening to B, S & T back then, although I certainly recognised their major hit "Spinning Wheel", which is included in this absolutely wonderful album.
Starting of with French composer Eric Satie's "Gymnopédies", first introduced very much as written from the composers hand, but then `twisted' in a nice and imaginary way, with some great writing for horns, and I guess this is the key point to this album; they take other peoples compositions and turn them into their own, in a very personal and imaginary way. I would actually go so far as to say that they beat the originals, but of course this is a matter of taste.
To me there is no doubt; this is their finest moment, the most inspiring and soulful outlet of them all. This is also the first album with singer David Clayton-Thomas and what a singer. I think this is a great album the way through and what an eye-opener it must have been, completely new and fresh, and the best thing is; it still sounds fresh. The only little thing that I can criticize is the second last track called Blues-part 2. Is has a great and very interesting organ intro, which builds up to a climax where horns finally enter, but then right away cuts into a drum/bass groove, which is a bit of an anticlimax, and the rest of this song is virtually different ideas spliced together, contra a homogeneous composition. (this is one out of three compositions of their own hand, the other two being "Spinning Wheel" and "Sometimes in Winter"). But that cannot take anything away from this album as a whole, which is just full of great songs arranged in such an irresistible way. Check this out!!!

Another end-of-the-sixties classic.......2006-07-09

A person listening to this album for the first time might wonder if it was mispackaged - as it starts off with a minute or so of a flute-based version of "Variations on a Theme..." with no indication of the rich and thick sound to unfold in in about 90 seconds, then - bam! - you're there.

BS&T as a group shares some of the same elements as another end-of-the sixties classic album, Chicago Transit Authority, by having a large number of band members, with a horn section and bluesy, jazzy rich sound. However, the sum of the parts produces a different outcome for each band.

There some covers on this album ("Smiling Phases", "God Bless The Child", "And When I Die", "You've Made Me So Very Happy") and I believe they surpass the originals in every case.

I like "More and More" a lot, so the extra track of it is indeed a bonus. However, the expanded "Smiling Phases" is no match for the shorter version, though it's still interesting on its own.

This album is the second from the band, after kicking out founder Al Kooper and replacing him with David Clayton-Thomas who has a deeper richer sound.

It's an indispensible representation of the end of the sixties, but you also have to get the first BS&T album, "Child Is Father To The Man", which has a different slant and is no less impressive.

A slight comedown from the debut but still very good.......2006-07-07

This album marked a transition for the horn infused rock band as the members gave the sack to founding member Al Kooper and with that took the band's sound away from the more bluesy tone of CHILD IS FATHER OF THE MAN and replaced that with a jazz feel. Clearly this was the correct move commercially as Kooper's replacement, raspy full-throated David Clayton-Thomas, led the charge to the pop charts landing them 3 solid hits from the album in "Spinning Wheel", Brenda Holloway cover "You've Made Me So Very Happy" and Laura Nyro's "And When I Die".

HIGHLIGHTS:
The opener from the band is "Variations on a Theme", a feather light adaptation of the 1st movement of Erik Satie's pastoral "Trois Gymnopedies" giving way to the phase-shifting blustery charging brass of the 2nd movement and nicely preparing you for the cover of Traffic's "Smiling Phases". Another reviewer rightly pegged "And When I Die" as the finest moment here and they're correct as the band incorporates elements of country, jazz, blues, and a touch of showtunes into a seamless whole that's more than the sum of its parts. Every transition feels natural. "Spinning Wheel" is a psych-tinged jazz-rock classic, playfully spinning children's tune "Have You Ever Seen a Lassie?" into its coda even as the carousel slowly breaks down into the denouement. Great stuff.

LOWS:
"Smiling Phases" is great in the neat, compact version heard as track 2. The live cut is a different story as the band attempts to show you their "chops" and instead careens wildly to and fro, losing all track of the melody in the process. This band was at its best when its jazziness was an inflection rather than attempts at improvisation and the bloat there only proves this is the case. Sprawl is also the problem with "Blues, Pt. 2" which only recovers about halfway through when vocalist Clayton-Thomas enters the picture but by then it's too late. Had this not been a letdown, the reprise of "Variations" might prove a masterstroke but it feels a bit anticlimactic to me in this context.

BOTTOM LINE:
Still better than your average rock album. Worth owning and definitely one of their better efforts but I'd pick up CHILD IS FATHER TO THE MAN (ASIN B00004XSVL) first as it holds together better as a complete album and is an underrated treasure of the 60s.

A Must for Keith Sweat fans.......2007-02-20

This album is a must-have for Keith Sweat fans! Unless you've bought his other albums when they were originally released, there's no reason to buy any of his other albums if you have this one. Just about all of his popular tracks are on this album, aside from a few of his obscure hits. "Make It Last Forever" is a favorite for anyone that enjoys slow jams from the old school days, and "I Want Her" should bring back memories of the late '80's high school dances. This album also has "A Right And A Wrong Way" and "How Deep Is Your Love", which were a couple of his really popular slow jams. No Keith Sweat fan should be without this one in his/her collection, and the album contains enough tracks to keep the CD going for more than just a short drive.

New Jack Swing Loathrio At His Best.......2006-12-29

Keith Sweat is one of the premeire R&B soul singers in the game. Although Mr. Sweat hasn't released a CD of new material in four years, I'm really anxious to see what he could do with the writing skills of Ne-Yo, Sean Garret, Johnta Austin and the production of The Underdogs. The Best of Keith Sweat: Make You Sweat compiles most of the tracks that made R&B crooner Keith Sweat one of the most popular and influential of the '90s new jack swingers. Along with Teddy Riley, Tony! Toni! Toné!, and Bell Biv Devoe, Sweat defined the forward-looking but history-mindful new jack sound that combined old-school aesthetics with hip-hop rhythms. Culled from all five of his consecutive number one R&B albums, the tracks here include such ubiquitous radio hits as "I Want Her" and "Make You Sweat" along with stellar singles including "Nobody" and solid album cuts like "My Body.

HALL OF FAME.......2006-11-07

This superb collection will show you why Keith Sweat should be a ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Hall of Fame Songwriter and should be a Grammy-winning record producer, but he's not. Even with over 13 million albums sold (including LSG and Silk's debut). He has worked with a variety of producers from Alton "Wookie" Stewart to Bobby Wooten to Hall of Famer Teddy Riley to Lionel Job (Joe Public) and the one constant is his success, hit after hit, year after year the hits keep on coming. His style never changed. It never needed to. He knows what his fans expect and he knows how to give it to them in spades. This man may be the most underrated soul singer of all time outside of Jackie Wilson. I can say that because Al Green, Teddy Pendergrass, Curtis Mayfield, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Ronald Isley, even El Debarge, Brian McKnight, R. Kelly, and Babyface they all get the props they deserve, but when will Keith Sweat be known as the Hall Of Fame Soul Artist that he is? Maybe when he surpasses 15 million CD's sold. Which won't be that long.

This isn't what I had hoped for........2006-08-12

I bought this c.d. because I like the song "Nobody" and it was the only good song on here. I read other reviews about how good this c.d. is and it is actually a waste but that is okay. There is only about 2 songs on there worth listening to so if you plan to buy it, I suggest you listen to the samples first. -heather-

great first album .......2007-06-13

How they could kick Al Kooper out of this band after creating there debut god only knows.

Blood, Sweat & Tears was the total brainchild of Al Kooper. He made one classic LP with them, then left/was pushed out, they hire a singer and BOOM, they explode commercially. Talk about irony. Unlike many, though, I don't put down the Clayton-Thomas version of the band. In fact, I think that the self-titled LP was a classic of a sort. The material (all covers, right?) was well-chosen, the arrangements were tight and imaginative, the production was incredible, and Clayton-Thomas did a great job. It only lasted one album, but it was a great album.

But this is the real McCoy. A groundbreaking stunner. Had it not been for Kooper's vision, that second BS&T album could never have happened. This was the child that was father to the man. Though it has escaped grandiose status for almost 40 years, it is a stone cold classic.

B.S.& T. is Only Good with Al Kooper.......2006-11-06

This is an exceptional album.....not your typical Blood, Sweat and Tears commercialized garbage that was created after this album. This was their first album, raw and orginal, not over-produced or watered down for a top 40 audience. It is, in fact, the band driven and led by the great rock and blues musician, Al Kooper. When B. S. & T. "lost" Al Kooper, they lost everything.....fortunately, we can find what they lost in this album.

The Masterpiece.......2006-07-23

This album doesn't have any of Blood Sweat and Tears hits. However, it is the band's best album, at least from a conceptual sense. Even though every song is completely different from the last, it somehow feels like a smooth transition to go from one song to the next. This album also represents the original lineup of Blood Sweat and Tears, including the creator keyboardist (and on this album, vocalist), Al Kooper. Kooper had actually formed this band because of creative issues with Danny Kalb, the leader of another great band, the Blues Project. Kooper's experience in the Blues Project can be seen on this album, as there is still a great deal of blues infused into even the classical and r&b numbers. Some notable tracks that I especially enjoyed on this album include "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know," "Overture," and the haunting but beautiful, "World Without Love."

Al Kooper COULD Be President of General Motors..........2006-05-23

Considering the shape they're in today, it could be a big improvement.

This was, of course, a huge sleeper in its day. Unlike the later Clayton-Thomas BST album, this one produced no "Top Ten" played hits. However, as a concept album it was great, and as one which paved the way for white-boy blues, it was something really new.

We loved them more than they'd ever know...and hey, look closely at the album cover. Take it from me - this was WAY before Photoshop.

The two singles "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" and "Things That Make You Go Hmmmm...." certainly do the trick. They are powerful dance-pop tracks with a serious hip-hop trunk deep enough to support (almost) the rest of the album, which is a bit of a motivational cool-down. The singles will pack the dance floor, and although the rest of the tracks won't clear it entirely, this album does prove to be unbalanced in the get-up-on-your-feet department. --Beth Bessmer

this CD blends hip-hop, dance and rock sounds. It's good music. It comes from the age of Prince and MC Hammmer, and it's really too bad that they didn't continue to make music. Things that make you go Hmmm, and Gonna Make you Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) are great club songs. It seems that their style of music was merely a passing fad, and why they died off after this album. All of the songs are good. Collaborations by Freedom Williams and other members show that they're very talented artists. It's original, edgy and as good today as it was then.

My god, it's hard to believe that sixteen years ago I was jamming out to these tracks at my local roller skating rink. What a trip, I still remember every lyric! Some great memories associated with these songs! Take a trip down memory lane with this album.

Everybody dance now! Hot dance album to this day! .......2006-06-15

C+C Music Factory had a hot dance album when it came out in 1990! Most of those songs from that album I still love to this day. Freedom Williams' raps rock hard on all the numbers. And while they apologized to Martha Wash in later years for not crediting her in the songs, she sounds dynamite on the ones she sang on here! David Cole and Robet Clivilles' music playing on the album with their rapid paced keyboard playing and rhythms are just superb on all the tracks. Gonna Make You Sweat, Things that Make You Go Hmmm, Here We Go (which is kind of similar to Sweat), Just A Touch of Love, and that long ambient 9-minute
song in the middle are strong standouts. Keep in mind that dance music was hugely popular in late 1990 and early 1991 and this really represented that time well before everybody shifted to slower, calmer songs. They performed in later years at some clubs worldwide, but not with the relentless peak of back then.

A watershed release that is a real classic gem for all times!.......2006-05-27

The closing months of the 1980s and the early 1990s I think were among the greatest watershed years in the history of techno-dance music. Wildly popular in Chicago at the time, I have fond memories of these songs when I was seven and/or eight years old when these were new. Now at the ripe old age of 23, I still love these songs from this era. "Gonna Make You Sweat" captures among the most glorious of this phenomenal era in music history.

C+C Music Factory have sadly been somewhat tainted with accusations of the singer in the music videos of their hit singles featuring the women singers actually lipsinching as the actual singer who sang that piercing vocal of "EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!!!!" at the beginning of the title track was none other than Marsha Wash!

Yikes!!!.......2007-07-02

This disc started off very rough, Keith vocals were horrible on "I Want Her", I had to do a double take to make sure that it was actually Keith Singing, but he they manage to get somewhat better as the disc goes on. I guess his voice had to warm up? Charlie Wilson sounds fantastic on "Let's Chill" This CD brings back a lot of memories, classic Keith, but honestly, The studio version of his greatest hits is a better buy.

A mixed bag........2007-06-15

Keith has finally returned to the scene with a new label, new management and a new record. Was it worth the wait? Well, let's just say he's headed in the right direction after some misses albums.
The songs on "Hotel" are fairly good and very well-produced.
He brings back the magic of some of the most memorable music recorded in R&B history to this new live CD.
He has always been a producer's artist, so he needs direction in the studio to get a solid performance with his vocals. That's here, but there is no great single that makes her shine and really gets him back out there.
He sounds enthusiastic, but has too much help in the background, which sometimes drowns out his vocals.
Keith needs a pop hit to get back on top. Let's hope the next album delivers a hit.

Breakbeat Jazz and Spoken Word.......2006-09-09

People have been wondering how to combine estranged cousins Jazz and Hip-Hop. Here you have it: a jazz-influenced guru of rap, looped jazzy breaks from one of the best beat makers of the day.

Ra's voice flows through each piece like an expert jazz trumpeter; his timing is immaculate, his vocabulary superb, and his tone smoother Cannonball Adderly. THIS is how rap is done.

Or how some fine hip-hop is done.

This CD spawned two hip-hop classics: Know the Ledge and Don't Sweat the Technique. Listening to Know the Ledge will keep you honest, because Rakim is no lightweight compared to modern legends like Nas and Eminem. You have to respect the flow.

Other points of interest is Teach the Children, What's Going on, and the the opener, What's on Your Mind.

Perhaps clueless jazzers looking to update their medium shouldn't just take a hip-hop beat and noodle aimlessly and call it art. The compositional possibilities shown on this album, along with the amazing lyricism exhibits what jazz and hip-hop could procreate.

Eric B and Rakim at their Best.......2006-08-15

The choice of an acoustic bass, drums, and saxaphone as the groove and harmony for this record was an excellent choice. The song starts with a jazz harmony executed in a dance/soul rhythm. For "opponents" of this song's lyrics "it might take years." The lightning fast tempo yet subtle and relaxed phrasing Eric B brings to the song when he raps complements his sonic lyrical insights and the hard grooving feel of the record.

P.S. I am not sure, but in the video for this song, I think that might be Wyclef Jean playing the acoustic bass.

The Epitome of the Word CLASSIC.......2006-08-11

The word classic gets thrown around a lot in reviews, especially for Rappers and MCs who by no means come close in comparison! Don't Sweat the Technique is a CLASSIC!!! Masta Killas No Said Date is NOT. If you want REAL HIP HOP MUSIC, what better LP is there to give you the blueprint of it. From Lyrics to Beats this was incredible.

Rakim is the greatest rapper of all time and his 4 albums with eric b are classic. buy those albums if u want to know who true heads praise as a god of hip hop or where modern rappers always bite lines from. casualties of war was dope, i just saw the review on allmusic that was wrong. rakim spits about bein a soldier in vietnam and makes it so vivid and realistic, truly mind blowing. buy this.

Keith Sweat's second strongest album.......2006-12-29

Keith Sweat returned with a veganance with his 1996 self titled album. The album along with New Edition's Home Again showed that New Jack Swing artists could easily adjust to the changing sound of nineties. The singles from the album Twisted, Nobody,Just A Touch and Come With Me were all top notch and can still fill a dance floor. Some of the stronger songs on the CD that could have been singles were Yumi and Chocolate Girl. If you don't have this album you need to add it to your collection.

OLD MEMORIES ALBUM.......2006-09-08

I don't think there is an album out there that brings back old memories for me like this one. I turn on the first song and I swear it's '96 again and I'm back in Knoxville TN with my family. Nothin but classics.

This album brings me back to a party where i met this pussycat and she winked at me and i came over and said "Hey baby, you got me all twisted like a big ol glazed donut".
She said "well then how bout unloadin some of that sweet stuff on me".
Well Keith Sweat was playin in the background and that made me run to my room and put on my big pimp suit with my jumbo feather pimp hat.
I strutted my slick self back in the room and said "Keith Sweat thinks he's mr. big well get a load of this!!!!!!!".
She dropped her jaw and i swept her off her feet.
You know the rest playas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, Keith Sweat's self titled album is chock full of booty shakin and butt naked jams that are so good that this mutha works better than an overdose of viagra!!!!!!!!
"Nobody" is slow and slinky and gets the ladies all hot and bothered and ready for action.
"Twisted" automatically makes the ladies rip off their clothes and go stark raving mad screaming "give me some!!!!!!!".
I tell ya every song on here is a bonafide slow jam butter meltin lace poppin groove fest.
So click on that purchase button and get ready for a night of hot lovin' that will leave you cooked to a golden crisp!!!!!!
I call this album "Coma Love sandwich!!!!"

I think his one of the best in the music,and his greatest undoing was not changing his style late in the 90s inrespective of that no one is better and I reccomend to all fellows pls listen to 'Get Up on it' that was really Da bomb for me I love those b/4 this but cannot really explain why this really drives me crazy

This is an excellent album recorded prior to the lead singer leaving the group. This album is true BS&T and the only recording of the Rolling Stones song "Sympathy for the Devil" covered by BS&T on any album or CD. Great tunes and memories.

I have fond memories of this album from when I was a teenager. I had read the reviews on Amazon that complained of a lousy remastering job, but thought "how bad could it be?". Well... it's bad. It's really bad. The sound is really flat and dull. Now I wish I had purchased the mobile fidelity version for 4 times the price of this piece of crap.

I still think the music is great though. The arrangements and musicianship is top notch.

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.......2004-01-06

While the recording quality of this c.d. is nothing to write
home about, I don't think it sounds anywhere near as bad as
previous reviewers have made it out to be. The volume is lower
than most of my c.d.s, but the brass is bright, voices clear,
and bass acceptable. Also, being that this is the only form this
c.d. is available in right now, I can't see the wisdom in going
without this great music all together! It is well worth the
price. I don't think this was their best release,but it is very
good. If you are familiar with this band, there is nothing else
I can say that you don't already know. If not,they play great
brass rock with good vocals. Average song writing, and a lot
of this release is covers from other bands. However they are
done well,and the originals contained on it are very good.
I'd like to give more, but unfortunately they left out most of the information
with it, only a list of songs. Very annoying!
If you like this band, I would like to recommend that you check
out the band OSIBISA.

Thankfully I found out that none less than the highly esteemed Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab is remastering this neglected classic on their hybrid SACD format. Thank God, I've got sympathy for the devil, but not a horrific sounding reissue.

I logged on hoping that Sony had finally gotten around to reissuing this... no such luck. _Blood Sweat & Tears 3_ is the last of the four major BST albums not to not receive a decent remastering job, and ironically, it's the one that most needed it. Sony's mega-cheapo "Collector Series" reissues were an embarassment when they came out, and are even less excusable today, boasting horrific sound, shrunken cover art, and no liner notes or booklet of any sort. _There's a Riot Going On_ by Sly Stone and _Having a Party with Southside Johnny_ are two other classics that continue to suffer this fate. Wake up, guys!
