The New Danger [Explicit Lyrics]
Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
More than a mere rap album, Mos Def's long-awaited The New Danger combines hip-hop, blues, soul, and rock in an 18-track package that seeks to transcend convention. In that sense, it shares a similar spirit with Andre 3000's The Love Below or Common's Electric Circus, with mixed results. Mos's reputation has been built on the strength of his lyrical charisma, and songs like "Close Edge," "Grown Man Business," and "Sunshine" show that his skills haven't faded just because he's Emmy-nominated. He's already proven that he can cut more than just street heat--best evinced on the soulful, poetic "Umi Says," a surprise hit from his previous release, 1999's Black on Both Sides. Yet, the rock- and blues-inspired songs here, while by no means poor, are acquired tastes, given their tendency to noodle--they simply can't compare with Mos's cutting verbal displays. The album's length and sometimes clunky sequencing can make for challenging listening, especially when so many of his more experimental cuts come early on. New fans might find the album's eclecticism intriguing, although older fans will likely be a bit perplexed. --Oliver Wang

After hearing "Black On Both Sides" my thought on this album was what happened to Mos. It was as if he threw this album together with left over tracks that didn't quite make it.
One of the most under rated albums ever........2007-06-03
To be honest when I first bought this CD when it came out I was disappointed. It stayed collecting dust for about 2 years until I really gave it a chance. Since then it has become one of my favorite albums. The musicians are excellent drawing from Bad Brains, Living Color and Funkadelic. Many people are disappointed with "The Rape Over" but, well, its the truth. Everyone I recommend this too ends up loving this one.
It Really Isn't A Bad Album.......2007-04-21
Everywhere I turn there's people spitting on this album. It's NOT Black on Both Sides, but it doesn't suck. Let me put it this way; if you enjoyed Common's Electric Circus, then you'll like this. And I for one loved Electric Circus. This is different and set apart from the norm. I recommend it to give your ears a break from monotony. Get it.
Mos Def - The New Danger.......2007-03-23
A creative, expansive and soulful contribution from one of the few genuine artists at work in US Hip-Hop. Mos takes his blues and soul influences and runs with them, showing off his versatility to great effect. The rapping's not bad, either.
A New Danger.......2007-01-02
The title of this album is right on poin. It is defintley a New Danger, it is nothing what you think it is going to be,when i first coped this lp in 04, i was hoping for another Black on Both Sides, but when i first herd it, i admit, it was little strange for my ears, but as i keept playing i relized it is trully a New Danger, so real hip hop heads embrace yourself and be ready for danger.

JD KIMBLE was a true Metal God........2006-05-28
John (JD) was like a brother to me, and I still cry everytime his name is mentioned. he was one of the absolute best song writers the world has ever seen. His vocals were astounding live, I met him after he had parted ways with Omen. he was then in a band called Hammer Dammage, and syberia. (Based in the san fernando valley). I weep when i remember back to a show we had at a small club called Stage West, there were about 200 people in the crowd. and the show went on with out a hitch, JD sounded amazing as did the rest of the band. Later that night i found out that he had lost over 2 pints of blood before and during the show (From colon cancer). That in essence summs up JD Kimble to me. A true legend, He had set aside his own pain and fears to put on a great show. for the few faithful fans and his fellow bandmates. this was in the mid 1990s.
My sister still drives his yellow van that he used to tour with Omen. he also gave us some of his costumes from Omen and some lps. that since his death i can't even bring myself to open the box's for the pain i would surely feel.
John Your missed more than words could ever say.
your friend Pat.
"The day the music died"
If you like Metal do yourself a favor and buy some of the early omen cd's, I guarantee you wont be disappointed.
OUTSTANDING!!.......2003-10-11
This and the first CD (Battle Cry) are both just about perfect recordings. There isn't a bad song on either one. I just don't see how someone that likes Maiden or any other classic metal wouldn't own and love this CD. The guitarist has reformed Omen, but unfortunately they will never be able to sound this good again as the vocalist on the first three Omen CDs (JD Kimball) passed away on October, 3 2003. He was one of the best singers in metal ever.
An amazing album - musically excellent.......2002-12-31
I bought this album on the basis of its cover art and song titles alone - and it quickly became one of my favorite albums of all time. All tracks are intense, with a heavy rhythm. Particularly enjoyable are the bombastic title cut, the clenched-toothedly optimistic "March On," and the intriguing "Don't Fear The Knight." Also worthy of note are "Termination," an homage to a certain Schwarzenegger film, and the catchy but deeply disturbing "Ruby Eyes (Of The Serpent)," {which includes the line: 'Cut out the hearts of the Children/Watch their lifeblood slowly fade away/Drain off every ounce of Power and lead/Every one of them Astray...'.} Dark but impressive, with an almost Carmina Burana-like grandeur in the instrumental track 'Premonition.' A worthy addition to any music collection!
00march on metal warriors.......2001-03-01
by far the best omen release.each track has so much power true animal metal.from the title track to make me your king just total power i played the album till it sounded like pop korn a most fan if you are into the 80s metal
