About the Artist
The Affiliados were introduced to each other back in 1996. They started by mixing individual styles together in the studio soon to find out they invented a style of their very own.Combining old Salsa and Rumba music with MPC's and bass drops resulted in an explosive combination that with the right lyrical talent could be dangerous. Being that the production was mixed with two cultures why not mix the lyrics with two languages, and that they did, but the difference was these boys all had been ripping flows with a bilingual style years before they met.Successful at improving their skills, they began to spread the love amongst the hip hop fans and as independent artist they performed in cities like N.Y.C., Orlando, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Melbourne, and of course their hometown Ft. Lauderdale and Miami.Being independent artist made it very hard for them to get radio play. These guys did whatever they could to get air time from radio promotions to boxing promotions.For people like D.J. Laz and Felix Sama, of Power 96F.M. to people like Don King, the world's biggest boxing promoter. Doing exclusive pieces for people in the industry was light work. They have been asked to do V.I.P. after parties for Deborah King, Puerto Rican Parade in Ft. Lauderdale, play roles in the upcomingmovie Shottas featuring Wyclef Jean, and the list keeps going.They have also done Television commercials. They recently ranon the “Obey Your Thirst” Sprite campaign and are the only M.C.'s to have done the advertisement in both English and Spanish. Don V.A., Mr. Lahh, Choko, and Nitty Spaniard are the individuals that make up the Affiliados, but what truly captures the essence of this group is the love these talented men have for each other. For years these guys have been doing it just for the love of their two cultures, Spanish and Hip Hop. Now is the time for the hard work to be Recognized.
