About the Artist
Coming from a musical family, Barbie Pocase knows a thing or two about singing. Born and raised in the Sonoran desert of Tucson Arizona, the peppy 25-year-old has been singing all her life, and says singing "is her life". Born the second of three children, Barbie really has a heart for people. Her focus in music is to minister to the hurting and show the way to Jesus, the answer. "I try to take the experiences that the Lord has allowed me to endure and relate them to people on their level. I want to stop trying to bring people to Jesus and bring Jesus to people, not only in song, but in everyday life by the way that I live." And live it she does. Along with her husband and two children, Barbie tries to be active in the community. They drive neighborhood kids to Christian skate night and church every week, as well as helping people move and helping families that God brings into their lives. On the music level, she has been seriously singing, writing songs and poetry for about the past twelve years now. In high school, she sang in whatever class that would allow her to. She was a member of the school choir as a senior, and was chosen to be a part of the advanced ensemble with a solo. She also won a poety contest as a sophomore. "I had no intention on entering the contest, my teacher asked me to enter at the last minute and I threw in a poem I had written for a class assignment, I even left it untitled, and won first place." Barbie tried to get as close to anything to do with music as she could. She became an intern at KVOI/KGMS radio stations and soon became a part of a Friday night hip-hop music show. She also began volunteering for concerts and had the privilege to meet and work with numerous musical artists such as Jon Gibson, Jon Secada, David Huff, Scott Blackwell, The Newsboys, D C Talk, and Michael W. Smith to name a few. Barbie went on to being hired on at KGMS, after returning a few years later, as an on-air personality where she continues to work today. On her leisure time, Barbie likes to ride motorcycles, work on automobiles, rollerblade, and help people.
