He is my favorite male artist. I have had the true pleasure of hearing him sing in person and I cant stop praising the voice God gave him. What's even better is that Joe takes his voice and uses it in a positive way and we NEED that. I know he will share his voice, skills and heart with us again. I anticipate the arrival of the next bomb he drops b/c Puttin It Down was just that. He provides sexy tune for lovers, yet still having his Playa's fun without offending anyone is something our music is missing and I'm glad to know some1 has taken the time to think of women b/4 dropping lyrics. Joe please hurry and give us some more. We are waiting!!!!

Man you have to listen to what this cat is saying. I remember when I bought it, I thought I had wasted my money, but oh no, I just had to listen to it one more time and now I'm wondering why he didnt come back for atleast 1 more album. Joe is you still out there, Man come back and make that funk 1mogin. Rude Boys, 1mogin!

J. Little Puts It Down.......2004-07-18

This CD is a straight playa's CD. First of all I want to thank my man Tyler from the west coast for the info on J. Little because living here in St. Louis at that time back in '94, we didn't here people like J. Little who may not have been in the mainstream category. Also, at that time the artists in that camp like The Rude Boys & Levert was on the decline and Gerald Levert had not hit his prime as of yet as a soloist. Overall, this CD is a can't miss from start to finish. The first song "Puttin' It Down" reminds me how cool things used to be back in those days with a mello beat and J. Little giving you some smooth vocals with the Rude Boys doing the background vocal and then Break 'em off is a smooth slow jam. Some other tracks that caught me by eye is "The Hump Is On", "The Way We Used To Roll", & "I'm A Playa". Gerald Levert once shows his diverse skills as a producer on this CD and does a wonderful job. My favorite slang from this CD is "Servin' Swipe". So, for all you playa's, g's, & hustla's, I advise you to order this CD. You won't be disappointed.

J. Little Made Little Hype.......2003-10-09

Urban singer J. Little had smokin' soulsters Gerald LeVert, Rude Boys (Joe Little, and Buddy Banks), and Marc Gordon contributing everything from vocals to sequencing and keyboard programming on his debut album, Puttin' It Down. Though, this would be the first and last album J. Little would release, his last performance on an album was in 1998 on Romey-Rome's Slick Sly & Wick. The lead single "The Hump Is On" failed to chart on the pop charts, but hit a shockingly high No. 92 on the R&B charts; the second released single was "Me & You," which failed to make any hype. LeVert and Edwin Nicholas arrange and produce the tracks "Break You Off" and "Me & You" and the Rude Boys contribute to the albums opener "Puttin' It Down."

Plenty of Good Stuff Here!.......2002-02-27

This CD was recorded in July 1995 in Hollywood California and is somewhat unique today in that it is a pure analog recording. All tracks, with the possible exception of 3, were recorded direct to two track for that live club feeling. All tracks feature Ry Cooder on guitar and most feature Jim Keltner on drums.

The disc itself has a laidback soulful feel which seems typical for slide master Ry Cooder. The standout tracks are J.B. Lenoir's "Down In Mississippi" and Terry's own "Blues No More" both slow, smooth, soulful and performed with a lot of feeling. On the downside, the CD would get along just fine without "Money In Your Pocket" which sounds an awful lot like the old "Put The Lime In The Coconut". Over all, with the exception of "Money", this is a fine CD with a lot to offer the listener.

Until five years ago, I wasn't much of a Blues fan, but after listening to Terry Evans' album, 'Blues for Thought,' I become a fan of him and Blues. That album caused me to start looking for anything with Terry Evans. 'Puttin' It Down' was the second album I purchased and found it to be as enjoyable as 'Blues for Thought.' In the car, I sing along and if at home, I start moving/dancing, while Terry Evans sings. Now I own 'Come to the River' and am waiting for ... to send me 'Mississippi Magic.' I think all of his music just makes you happy.
