Unknown R&B star provides great slow jams.......2006-12-03

Most people don't know the name Melvin Riley, but you know his group Ready For The World who were resppnsible for the quiet storm staples Love You Down & Tonight and the classic party jam Oh Shelia. After the group broke up Melvin Riley became a MCA solo artist charting with "Whose Is It" in summer 1994 and "What Makes a Man (Wanna Cheat on His Woman)". Six years later this disc apperared and it features some good slow jams in particular Baby Get Yours (oringally recored by London Jones in 1994) and the Jamie Foxx featured Scream & Shout. It's a shame Riley never blew up like a solo artist because he had the chops.

He a underated star.......2005-06-12

Melvin riley picks up were he left off from his hit 80s group ready for the world.He has a very nice voice that is not deep. The cd came out in 2000 and got little air play. I think because he released the wrong videos and singles such as "you complete me" which I saw on blastro.com and ballin 200o was a single.Thats why it gets 7 stars. Besides those 2 songs the rest are really good.Jamie foxx is on this cd, he should of released that song. The songs sound like a updated ready for the world bump and grind type joints. He has a lot of smooth songs. My favorite is dont
forget bout us- Its a beautiful songs. They used the strings and other instruments nicely. IT complements of voice.
get this if you like bump and grind mucsic such as r kelly, and of couse if your a ready for the world fan.

Great slept on artist.......2004-05-27

This was an awsome album compared to most that came out at the time. Too bad there wasn't much promotion, radio play or videos. Check this CD out, you wont be disappointed. This guy was the lead singer of one of the best groups to come out in the 80's READY FOR THE WORLD

Definately one for the Bedroom!!.......2001-01-05

I accidently came across this album five months ago. My first impression after listening to tracks 1 - 4 was 'wow!!' I then brought it home and continued to listen to tracks 5 - 13 and thought 'hmmm'. Melvin has the voice, the production, but fails by making some very similiar sounding tracks. Don't get me wrong the production of the tracks is good especially, 'My good Thang', 'Why Your friends Hatin'', Scream, Shout (featuring Jamie Foxx), and 'Knees up Heads Down'. But, as usual the only up-tempo track on the album, 'Ballin'2000' is the weak link. However, despite the fact that some tracks sound similiar I would definately recommend this album for late night r'n'b music fans.
