"DINO" is by far the better album here, released in 1972. "The Small Exception of Me" "I Can Give You What You Want Now" and "I Don't Know What I'm Doing" are just beautifully sung. Kris Kristofferson also penned two strong songs "Just The other Side Of Nowhere" & "Kiss The World Goodbye". I had the "DINO" LP & it never sounded better. "You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" was brand new for me. I only liked five songs off this LP, but they are keepers!! The title ballad is a cover of a gold record by Gladys Knight. By far, the best song is "Free To Carry On". Wow, now that's a pretty song. The album (which was released in late 1973 & his last LP until 1978's "Once in a While") ends with another upbeat Dean Martin/Jimmy Bowden classic "Get on With Your Livin'". You won't be disappointed with these two mature albums. I'm Lovin' it!

These two albums were late in Dino's career, and as a result often overlooked. The hits were in the past, but this album has some really nice modern country arrangements. "What's Yesterday" is unique and a bit mysterious. "Party Dolls & Wine" has a hard beat to it that's infectious. For me the best cut is "Kiss The World Goodbye" by Kristofferson -- somehow it sums up what Dean might have been thinking at the end of his life. There are very fine versions of "Free To Carry On", "You're The Best Thing To Happen To Me", and great updates to "I'm Confessing", "Baby Won't You Please Come Home", "I Don't Know Why", and "Gimmie A Little Kiss". I grew to hate "Tie A Yellow Ribbon", but Dean's light version is rather pleasant. This is a definite Dino album to get if you like pop country.

With the exception of Tie A Yellow Ribbon ....this is one of the best in the two fer series. My favorite song is Free To Carry On.

If you think that musicals are only outsize, outlandish spectacles hatched on Broadway, The It Girl deftly shows that there are other options. This small show was created in 2001 at the York Theater--located in a church's basement, it's as close as you get to a barn in New York City. Loosely based on the 1927 Clara Bow vehicle It, the show gleefully runs through all the 1920s classic situations and characters: chases, flappers, mistaken identities, a boat cruise, a department-store heir, and fake French accents—it's all there. You can almost hear the ghost of P.G. Wodehouse, librettist for the Gershwins' Jazz Age classics, cheering. The It Girl breezes through thanks to its cast's game can-do energy and the strength of Paul McKibbins and B.T. McNicholl's perky tunes, which deploy nice melodic resources and make the most of a six-piece band. There's enough knowing pastiche here to keep the saccharine at bay, but the creative team also shows genuine resource and love for musicals as a genre. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

I took my daughter to see a production of this at a theatre in Hopewell where I sometime perform. We really enjoyed the show, and my daughter asked me to buy her a copy if the CD. I can't stop listening to this show. Great score...great orchestrations and great performances. I'm going to buy myself a copy too.

Maybe I'm biased, because I'm friends with the composer... but I was not when I first saw this musical, and I fell in love with it. A truly toe-tapping score, and adorably witty lyrics. It's a charming gem of a show, and I recommend it to any music lover.

The characters are fun, the story is marvelously scandalous (in a family oriented way), and the performances are top-drawer!

Like another reviewer, was lucky enough to see this show at the York Theatre in Manhattan. A wonderful musical score and clever lyrics made this show an absolute delight. A must-have CD.

This show has a STELLAR cast! The cast is relatively small, only consisting of three men and four women. The music is original and REALLY clever (and based in the 1920s...GREAT TIME)! I listen to this cast album MORE than any other (and I have A LOT of cast albums)! Some of the MOST appealing tracks are "A Perfect Plan," "Coney Island" and "Step Into Their Shoes"! This would be A GREAT show for small theatres or small companies of actors! You'll be glad you bought this cast album after you take the time to listen to it all the way through at least once. You'll find a few songs you like and listen to those OVER and OVER. Two weeks later you'll find a few more songs you like and do the same! ... This is an A+ show!

My family loved this show. Our eight year old son kept singing the songs and humming the tunes. He even wanted to listen to it at bedtime. Very catchy lyrics with tunes that keep your feet tapping. The show is full of songs that continually creep into your mind during the day. I often found myself humming a tune or two over and over. Highly recommend.

Although I gave it a four star I am somewhat disappointed in the fact that this album is not complete. The original version which was released sometime in the 70's was a 2 album set.
This album has most of the good selections on it but it's missing a few like "May The Lord Bless You Real Good, Touch Me with Charles Fold, just to name a few. If someone has the original "2 album" set, please put it back on the market, FAST!

        This album was recorded amd mixed in 1977. It was never released on vinyl or tape due to the fact that the record company was phased out and sold. It has been digitally remastered and is available now, for the first time, on CD. It includes two of Weatherly's biggest hits as a songwriter. "You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" was a number one record for Gladys Knight & The Pips, both R&B and pop, and was a number one record for Ray Price on the country charts. "Love Finds Its Own Way" was another pop and R&B hit for Gladys Knight & The Pips. also, "All That Keeps Me Going" was released as a single by Weatherly and was a Top 30 country hit.

        Jim Weatherly is best known for his Top 10 compositions for Gladys Knight ("Neither One of Us", "Midnight Train to Georgia", "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me") and his own Top 20 Hit "The Need to Be". The prolific writer has had about a dozen albums out on numerous labels.
        This collection entitled "Dancing Moon" may be his finest so far. His relaxed, warm sounding voice makes these 10 songs sound like old friends after the first listen. Jim produced and wrote all of the songs. They are all beautifully arranged and orchestrated. The stand out songs for me were the title song "Dancing Moon", the haunting "No Blues For Susie" and one of the most beautiful ballads ever written "You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me".
        Please do yourself a favor and discover a true tunesmith...Jim Weatherly. You will not be disappointed.
