cha cha slide.......2007-05-07
i love this cd and so does my daughter its a great work out cd
Just what I expected.......2007-02-17
I ordered this CD for my daycare kids and my own kid's party times. They love it, thanks!
Great for parties.......2007-01-05
I used this at my kids' Halloween party and it was a hit.
What Comes After The Cha-Cha Slide?.......2006-11-01
I purchased this CD because I wanted a copy of "The Cha-Cha Slide." I listened to a preview of each of the additional cuts prior to ordering the CD, so I knew exactly what I was getting. If you love "The Cha-Cha Slide," you'll love the first two cuts on this CD. But unfortunately, that's all that this CD has to offer. For me, it was still worth buying.
Great Dance Steps.......2006-07-22
I work in a child care facility and my staff were looking for the words and music for the cha cha slide. They were teaching the children so they could perform it at their preschool graduation. Well let me tell you it was a hit and the parents even joined in.
Ever since that night, the other preschool classrooms wanted to have some fun too and I let the other classrooms listen and dance. My only concern is that I don't get to use it too much because it is always on loan. I wish I had more copies! Thank you for helping my staff keep their children learning fun ways to listen, exercise, share and socialize with others.

For five decades, nuance has been the name of Ronald Isley's game. There it is, flowing in a warm, sexed-up cascade through "That Lady," and there it is again, reeking of need, longing, and romance on "For the Love of You." So why he allowed this long-awaited follow-up to "Body Kiss," the 2003 disc that proved the Isleys have still got it, to be titled so cheesily is anybody's guess. But in the end it doesn't matter. At 65, Mr. Biggs' legendary voice is amazingly well preserved, and even when he's tackling a song that could get him kicked out of church--the baldly libidinous "Show Me" or the downright lecherous "Give It to You," say--he works it with such genuine emotion that even those for whom baby makin' is a long lost pursuit will want to croon woozily, wistfully along. It wouldn't be a 2006 disc, of course, if there weren't a long list of collaborators to name-check, but here the all-star assemblage actually adds up to something. R. Kelly doesn't make "Blast Off" blast off so much as sail, and between Jermaine Dupri and Tim and Bob (the team behind Bobby Valentino), velvet-vibed sparks fly off of every track. Should a 2007 baby boom hit the record books, you know who to blame. --Tammy La Gorce

Isley Bros. Never Cease To Amaze Me With This Album.......2007-06-07
The Isley Brothers have earned the right to have a fan like me prepare to buy their album upon hearing about an eventual release, and this album is no exception. Since the rest of the folks have gone into detail, I'll simply say that as a music lover, it's worth the buy.
sorry to be so mean but.......2007-01-21
when you think of the great music the Isley Brothers once made and then you listen to this junk, all you can say is "Oh my God,has it come to this".Laughable inane lyrics, boring guitar playing and not much else. And Ronald Isley has the nerve to thank God for making this kind of drivel.
Baby Makin Music. Are you kidding me? This cd should have been called Throwing Up Music.
99% R. Kelly-free.......2006-10-16
Since I'm 25, it's obvious that I wasn't around when Ronald and Ernie Isley were in their heyday, but I did listen to enough of their older material to get into their vibe. I also enjoyed their newer stuff except for Body Kiss; as other reviewers have mentioned, the problem with that album was too much Mr. Biggs (not too much Ron Isley; too much Mr. Biggs) and TOO MUCH R. KELLY. Well, now that Ron is once again becoming a family man because of the child that he and his granddaughter -- I mean, wife are expecting, maybe that opened his eyes into realizing that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Thus, we have the excellent Baby Makin' Music. However, I didn't really know what to expect from the album because when I heard the lead single "Just Came Here to Chill" on Music Choice (a "radio" station on Time Warner Cable), it was incorrectly titled as "Baby Makin' Music". Also, this time around R. Kelly is only involved with one song, "Blast Off", and while that song is fine, there are even better tracks like "Gotta Be With You" and the aptly titled "Beautiful".
As another reviewer mentioned, most of the songs really aren't baby makin' music as the album title suggests, but when it IS done, it's done very well (see "Show Me" and "Give It to You"). But "You Helped Me Write This Song" is pretty damn good, as is "Heaven Hooked Us Up" (even though the title sounds a little corny). My favorite song is probably the aforementioned "Just Came Here to Chill", though.
While a couple uptempo songs might sound like Mr. Biggs is still itching to come out ("Pretty Woman" and "Forever Mackin'"), they don't disturb the flow of the album. And Ernie's guitar playing is back in great presence, too, all the more making Baby Makin' Music an album to add to your Isley Brothers collection.

BABY MAKIN MUSIC.......2006-09-26
LOVE THIS CD. I NEVER GET TIRED OF ANY OF THE SONGS.LOVE IT!!!!!
Perfection.......2006-09-13
I've been a fan of the Isley Brothers since the early seventies, rediscovering them, after many years, with Body Kiss, then finding Mission to please - more perfection. This cd has the seamless sound of Mission to please, updating it to the present perfectly. It's such a treat to be able to listen to a 'sound' that wrapped itself around you so beautifully in the seventies, doing it even better (if that's possible) in the mid noughties. Thankyou Ron and Ernie.

Album Details
Digitally Remastered Double Anthology of the Pop and Soundtrack Composer from the 50's and 60's. Perhaps his Best Counterpart of Today Would Be John Williams. A Film Maker Could Always Rely on Mancini to Deliver a Composition that Hit the Mark for a Film and Conveyed Exactly What was Required and More. He also Filled the Role of an American Mantovani, Recording 'muzak' Versions of Popular Hits. He was Handsome, Personable, but Most of All, Well Respected for his Craft.
Customer Reviews:
not enough Galway.......2003-10-02
There are only four songs with James Galway. The way this recording is presented is misleading and buyers should be aware that this is NOT a joint effort between these two great artists.. I was totally disappointed. I think Henry Mancini is wonderful but was expecting to hear a collaboration. So if you're looking for flute music this isn't it. However it's a great collecton of Henry Mancini's work.
Too Good to Last.......2000-03-03
I heard this on PBS. Galway and Mancini may be two of the most talented musicians of our century. Galway for his complete mastery of the flute and Mancini for his ability to arrange , produce and in this instance direct the orchestra while Galway performs. They do several duets of a comical nature as well. This is important because it is one of Mancini's last efforts prior to his unfortunate passing.

Goes down smooth.......2007-05-08
The songs that weren't released on this album are just as good as, if not better than, the ones that were! There's not a bad song on it. Also, a good mix of styles. Mr. Brown has done it!
One of Dem CD's!!!.......2007-03-20
Sleepy Brown is known for his unmistakable crooning on various Dungeon Family projects making the songs that much more enjoyable. With 2 releases under his belt already; The timeless Vinyl Room, and the group release Society Of Soul - BrainChild, he finally gets a major label release that is long overdue. Sleepy gave us a small sample of what was to come on Big Boi's Purple Ribbon album (Me And My Baby & My Cadillac also featured on this album). Sleepy pumps his heart and soul into this album as every song is a standout. I remember playing this cd so much when it came out that I had to sit it down for a while. Now that it's spring time I can break it back out and pick up right where I left off. You can play the album straight through because the production is on point and Sleepy's smooth soulful voice never bothers you. My favorite songs are Get 2 It, Dress Up, Margarita, I'm Soul, Me & My Baby, Till Your Legs Start Shaking. It's a tie for best song between Sunday Morning and One Of Dem Nights which are both masterpieces in their own right. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better they add the classic I Can't Wait ft. Outkast (from the Barbershop 2 soundtrack) that was only released on that soundtrack previously (which wasn't that good by the way). A great addition to the cd and even more reason to pick up this album. Sleepy Brown released one of the best albums of 06 with this one and since you probably already slept on it, don't keep hitting that snooze button. 5 stars.
Sleepy Brown - Mr. Brown.......2007-01-06
Sleep Brown's (A.K.A. "Patrick Sleepy" Brown) debut solo album is "Mr. Brown" (2006) a short twelve track release featuring guest appearances from Outkast, Pharell Williams and Joi. Atlanta's Sleepy Brown is one third of the production duo Organized Noize which helped produce excellent music for artists like Outkast, Goodie Mobb, Ludacris and TLC. My introduction to Sleepy Brown the singer came on Outkast's album "Speakerboxxx/ The Love Below" on the outstanding single "The Way You Move". Sleepy Brown has music in his blood being the son of Jimmy Brown (lead vocalist/saxophonist) of the 1970's Band "Brick". Sleepy is signed to long time friend and music affiliate Big Boi's Purple Ribbon Records.
Mr. Brown gets thing started on a good note singing soulfully on the smooth opener "I'm Soul". Sleepy then teams up with Big Boi and Pharell for the album's first single the Neptunes produced "Margarita" a feel good laid back ode to the ladies and good times. Sleepy's appreciation of the ladies continues on decent ballad's like "Get To It" & "Dress Up". The soulful singer provides another standout with "One Of Dem Nights". Sleepy shines again on "Me, My Baby & My Cadillac" taking his audience through a dope cruise. "Dance With Me" will have the ladies doing just that. Sleepy then flips the script some with the experimental "Underwater Love" . Sleepy keeps the dedications to making love going on cut's like the second single "Till (Your Legs Start Shaking)" & "Sunday Morning". I am not feeling Sleepy's collab with Joi on "Oh Ho Hum". The album's closer is "I Can't Wait" an old collaboration between Outkast and Sleepy previously release on the "Barbershop 2: Back in Business", Sleepy steals the show with some smooth vocals. I would have liked Sleepy to include "The Way You Move" - on this release - as that is classic song. On the whole "Mr. Brown" is a solid release. Sleepy Brown keeps his music positive, feel good and smooth. 3.5.

Nice.......2006-12-14
All the songs on the CD have a common theme of gettin freaky, but the sound is pretty unique. After the repetitive opener "I'm Soul," the album really takes off. Get 2 It, One of Dem Nights, Me My Baby & My Cadillac, Dance With Me, Sunday Morning and the hit Margarita are awesome tracks. Oh Ho Hum is interesting because it almost sounds like reggae. The rest of the tracks aren't that bad either. Hopefully before long Sleepy can be known for more than just being "the third member of Outkast."
Hey Sleepy, Wake Up!.......2006-10-31
The cover of this album is very eye catching. It is a visual homage to the legendary Isaac Hayes album "Hot Buttered Soul" with big 70's style bubble writing for the title. Nice tribute to a soul legend but we all know Sleepy couldn't carry Ike's jock. The opening sounds on this album define the underlying problem throughout this album. Annoying click track electronic drums. He should try listening to the artist he bit his cover from-live drums, horns and strings. Real baby makin' music is warm, natural and organic. Not cold and technical and made by machines. But enough griping about that. Sleepy is a decently talented singer and his instincts navigate him through this patchy but decent collection of songs. Most of it has already been released on various compilation albums and movie soundtracks as far back as '04 which gives it a disjointed vibe that messes with the flow big time. "Margarita" is the big hit with Pharell and exec. producer Big Boi. Nice club song/ear candy and probably the most uptempo track on this rather slow collection of drowsy tunes. I like track 3, "Get 2 It" which has a nice piano bounce to it and some nice crooning from Mr. Brown ( doing most of his own background singing as well) and his dad Jimmy Brown from funk band Brick on horns and Chanz Parkman doing keyboard duties. Another favorite is "Me, My Baby and My Cadillac", a cool 70's style song that recalls William DeVaughn's classic "Be Thankful For What You Got". "Underwater Love" and "Till(Your Legs Start Shaking) are both smoothed out tracks that stand out as well. My biggest complaint besides the drum sound is the lack of variety in tempo. All the songs are kind of slow and Sleepy sounds a bit, well, sleepy. Next time out he should down some energy drinks and get a live drummer(?uestlove from The Roots would be a good choice) and head to Miami and beg Betty Wright to produce him. His heart's in the right place, but musically it's his Soul that's missing.

Serv On is back after a year and a half off since his ok debut. Of the 4 Serv albums I have (I don't have "Take A Sip") this is my 2nd favorite one. Although it is on No Limit so you get a ton of guests on here (only 5 solos out of 20 songs) but he does good where he get's his chance. As usual with Serv, you get some good deep songs, some about hustlin' and gangsta life and a few dirty ones as well. It has 1 classic, 9 good songs, 6 ok songs, and 4 that I skip, so it could have been a good 14-16 song 4.5 star album but oh well. Production is pretty good (as ususal by Beats by the Pound Crew). Carlos Stephens does 6 songs, KLC (4 songs), Craig B (3 songs), O'Dell and Mo B Dick (2 songs each), and Mark in the Dark, Ke'noe and Sons of Funk each do 1 song. A must have album for Serv and down south rap fans.

Customer Reviews:
Jean Knight's first and only Stax album--full of soul!!!.......2007-05-29
Jean Knight's album, "Mr. Big Stuff" came out in 1971. The hit single of the same name came out in that year, as well. The main track is full of soul. From what I learned, the single of this song was one of the biggest selling hits ever to be released by Stax Records. There are some other great songs on this album, as well. "You City Slicker" is another great one; the lyrics for it are very similar to the main song. The same thing applies to "You Think You're Hot Stuff," which is the last song on the album (one of the bonus tracks). This latter song (which was a follow-up sequel to Mr. Big Stuff) was also released as a single later on in 1971, but as sequels go, this one was not as successful as the main song, and was in the low ranks on the music charts. The rest of the other bonus tracks are somewhat okay, but not worth listening to very much. Another song that I like on this album is "Why I Keep Living These Memories". This song has somewhat of a sad sound and lyric to it, where Jean sings about a woman who must face the reality that the man she loves won't come back to her and she has to deal with the memories of the relationship as well as the situation. Here is a bit of trivia for you folks (that may not have known this): "Why I Keep Living These Memories" was released as the flip side to Mr. Big Stuff. After the smash single of Mr. Big Stuff was released, Jean released several more singles (including the sequel, "You Think You're Hot Stuff"), but could not seem to match the success of the main song. Even though this album and single of the same name are the only Stax titles that she had released with the label, it is still quite a joy to listen to, as well as a lot of fun. Mr. Big Stuff, in my opinion, will always be Jean's signature song that will never tire out.
Good Disc.......2000-04-01
Jean Knight sounds Good on this set&the Band is Cooking. She was More than just a Hit or what not.She has Soul in her Pipes.
a very solid album.......2000-03-27
God forbid that I should disagree with a critic, but the review above is all wet! While it's true that there are several songs that sound similar to Mr. Big Stuff, how many John Fogerty songs sound similar? If you've found a classic sound and groove, what's wrong with exploring it?
For my money, it's the musicianship and production that keep me coming back to this album. The rhythm section is as good as any I've ever heard, with a simple funkyness that keeps your foot tapping. If you like 60s soul/R&B, give this album a chance; you'll find it to be a pleasure that you'll want to repeat time after time.
Big Stuff indeed. We know who we think we are........2000-03-18
We love this song, and what better way to enjoy it than with an album including 11 slightly different versions of it. That sounds insulting; people will never buy it! But you should buy it anyway.

THE ULTIMATE MALE SINGER OF THE CENTURY~BRAVO JACKIE!!!.......2006-06-10
Jackie Wilson just may have been the greatest singer and performer over the past fifty years...Elvis was crazy about him and he inspired many greats such as Michael Jackson and Al Green but nobody ever quite had the tremendous power and the glorious tones that made up the magnificent voice of Jackie Wilson!!! Grab this priceless gem of a box set while it is around because greatness like this will never happen again and this is the Ultimate Jackie collection to have and each disc is a magical musical listening experience that has to be heard to be believed. Early hits produced and written by Barry Gordy were the building blocks of Motown but "Lonely Teardrops" clearly shows that as many greats as Motown produced none came close to Jackie and it is sad that Jackie was never signed to Motown because in a way he started it!!! Thankfully after Gordy, great records and many classic recordings such as "A Woman, A Lover, A Friend", "Doggin' Around", "Night", "(You Were Made For) All My Love", "Baby Workout", "No Pity (In The Naked City)", "Whispers (Gittin' Louder)", "Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher", "I Get The Sweetest Feeling", "Just Call My Name", and others continued and it is a long and totally awesome list filled with lots of variety...listen to the definitive version of "For Once In My Life" then be blown away by the beauty of "Danny Boy" then experience the brilliant pathos of "Even When You Cry with Count Basie and know true musical once-in-a-lifetime genius. To the end Jackie Wilson made classics that are timeless in their appeal for those who love and appreciate the finest in vocal artists...a true classic legend and this is the collection of his classics to savor and enjoy for years to come...Bravo Jackie and we love and miss you!!!
Jackie Wilson Was One Of A Kind.......2005-07-28
Jackie Wilson was one of the most amazing vocalists I have ever heard. His voice was truly a gift from God. I only gave these recordings 3 stars because I don't like most of the 3rd cd as much as the 1rst two cds. The third cd contains his later material. I like his earlier work better. Although the 3rd cd does contain the best version of "Danny Boy" I have ever heard. Jackie could do almost anything with his voice. He occasionally sounded like Elvis, as he does on the song "Reet Petite". At other times he sounds like an opera singer, like on the songs "Night" and "My Empty Arms". This boxed set also contains my favorite version of the standard "Stormy Weather". There was simply no one like him. If I had lived in the 1950s, this is the one performer I would loved to have seen live. If I were rating this boxed set on vocals alone I would give it 5 stars. I would always give Jackie 5 stars for vocals. Young people who think that stars of today such as Britney Spears, Shania Twain, Janet Jackson, ect. can sing should listen to this boxed set. This was a real singer with true talent. This set is worth getting for the vocals alone. Especially if you have never heard these vocals before.
