For his second Broadway musical (and first time out writing a full show directly for the stage), Elton John certainly set his sights high by turning to one of the grandest of all operas as a source. His continued collaboration with lyricist Tim Rice has produced a work far closer to the agreeable pop style and formula of the team's Disney musical, The Lion King, than to the majesty and tragic passion of Verdi's opera. But the compelling tale of conflicting loyalties and star-crossed lovers--retooled in part by acclaimed playwright David Henry Hwang--inspires some of John's signature melodic felicity, as in "Elaborate Lives" and "Every Story Is a Love Story." And the original cast recording marks a dramatic leap forward from 1999's dreary mishmash studio concept album, thanks to the heat generated by Heather Headley and Rent star Adam Pascal as the forbidden lovers. Sherie René Scott can turn on a dime from a parodic stance ("My Strongest Suit") to sad resignation ("I Know the Truth"), while the three get to blend in the ensemble "A Step Too Far"--a pop counterpart to the intensity of operatic ensemble. The score touches on reggae and gospel, and on all-out rock balladry (where it's fun to hear Pascal clearly imitating John's characteristic vocal inflections), but it's most touching in the more reflective moments given to Headley's dignified Nubian princess. --Thomas May

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!!.......2007-06-22

As soon as I saw the Touring group, I had to get this CD! The vocal performances required by these songs is just mind boggling! I love this story, I love the music and I love the lyrics!! It is the most exciting show I have ever seen up to this point for the sheer fact of the vocal performances. Sure, other productions such as Cats, Miss Saigon and 42nd Street have been entertaining and extremely enjoyable in their own right, but this one excited me! I highly recommend this CD and if you ever get the chance to see the show, DO IT!! You won't regret it!

(The only thing missing on the disc- and it's missing on any musical soundtrack- is the overture at the beginning and end of the production- those were awsome to hear also)

5 out of 5 stars An Impresive & Catchy Pop Musical .......2007-05-29

Aida, is an incredible musical. It consits of several catchy, belty, soulful songs that you find your self singing along to oftenly. The singing on the CD is fair and several impressive notes are belted out(i.e. the last note of "Dance Of The Robe). Heather Headly (Aida) has extremley soulful and beautiful voice, her songs "The Past Is A Lonley Land" and "Easy As Life" have come to be some of my favorites. Adam Pascal (Radames) has the capacity to hit high notes perfectly and clearly but at the same time he has a sharp tone to his voice that sometimes makes him hard to listen to, he sounds nice in "Fortune Favors The Brave" but his hard tone in "Enchantment Passing Through," makes me dislike the song. Sherie Rene Scott (Amneris) also has the capicity to belt high notes extremley well, but at times can sound like a little girl. Her song "My Strongest Suit," is probably the catchiest song on the album, but is extremley super-ficial and lacks meaning. She sounds mediocre in "Every Story Is A Love Story," but delivers a beautiful and heartbreaking performance in "I Know The Truth." All and all the three stars have good voices and this is an incredibly catchy and wonderful CD. This is what I consider to be the best broadway soundtrack around. The songs are definetly pop influenced (which some people may love or hate) and are better then the songs in "The Lion King" (Elton John wrote the music for that show as well). I highly reccomend this CD who loves pop-broadway and loves to sing along to soundtracks.

This is just a high quality product. The music is upbeat and entertaining and the story is immortal. I never get tired of listening to this cd!!

The Aida soundtrack is amazing, especially after seeing the show! The quality of the recording is wonderful and the songs are powerful. The lyrics are really poignant. I absolutely love it. The cd has been in my cd player for weeks and I find myself singing the songs all the time. I would recommend this soundtrack to any romantic!

It's hard to believe that UB40 have been around since the early 1980s, but the proof is right here in the 18 tracks on this album. While most famous for their cover songs, UB40 have written a good portion of original material that's excellent. But songs like "Red Red Wine" and a previously unreleased version of the Doors' "Light My Fire" will attract the majority of listeners to this collection. Following in the footsteps of greats like Bob Marley and Burning Spear, this band from Birmingham, England (led by the two sons of folkie Ian Campbell, have helped keep the flame of roots reggae alive with their easy sound. They've even made over rock standards into their reggae template, including Sonny & Cher's "I Got You Babe" (with guest Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders). In their own little way, UB40 have been gnawing away at musical barriers for the last 20 years, and this is an ideal summary of their achievements. --Chris Nickson

This item was bought for a friend and she said it was really good and was very pleased with it

2 out of 5 stars Not what it seems.......2006-11-11

This CD does not have the songs that are listed on this site. "Here I Am" and "The Things You Do" aren't on this CD. Beware, the "Red, Red Wine" version is cut short also. Don't buy it unless your really know what it is you're getting.

5 out of 5 stars You will love UB40 again!.......2006-11-05

Fine selection althought ALL UB40 music is great. This CD is a mix of almost all albums from this great band. You will noticed how they mastered their style ( Labor of love II is a good example) Good driving music you will not be bored when you are stucked in traffic anymore with this selection .I love UB40 since "Rat In The Kitchen". Go for it buy it and dont forget to thank UB40 for 20 something years of great music! Love from Minneapolis, Minnesota USA

4 out of 5 stars Decent Collection.......2006-09-07

Overall I was satisfied, as most of their hits and well known songs are included, but I have to agree with the upset reviewer who complained that some songs were cut short.

"Red Red Wine" was chopped nearly in half, and "Give Me Your Cup" was also either a shortened version, or not the version I was looking for.

5 out of 5 stars Great UB40 value with added sound quality .......2006-06-30

UB40 have been a constant within the music scene for almost 3 decades by now. The first 15 years they were constant hit makers with consistent album sales. It seems that after that period, all of a sudden their time as a big selling artist was up as if the public had had enough.

This CD covers that period in a thorough manner. Another version, a double Best of Vol. 1 & 2 CD from the UK does have a more thorough selection of their songs. This one has, however, the main hit songs. With the exception of the remake of Light My Fire, there is not a single song on this collection that is not classic UB40. One could go on and on about which other songs should have been included but then it would have been just as difficult choosing songs being left out instead.

Their music has aged very well and many songs are becoming standard classics, even ones that were standards in other versions. In short, if you like casually UB40, this is the set to buy.

The sound has been re-vamped which can be heard very well on some tracks. Compared to the UK Best of Vol. 1 & 2 version, the bass on Here I Am, which is prominent in the mix, is much more vibrant and the whole sound staging has audibly more depth then on the US version, whilst on Kingston Town the synthesizers are clearer and the slight echo in the singing channel more natural, giving the song more of its special aura. These songs and other newer tracks have an added edge on the US version over the Best of Vol. 1&2 which is in a way analogous to the difference of a brand new LP verses a worn one.

On older tracks the difference is more audible, since the recording technology during the later period is more similar to what is used today. 1 in 10 has a significantly lower and more muddled sound and their first single, Food For Thought, is so vastly different sonic wise it is as if a blanket has been put over the speakers on the Best of Vol. 1&2 version (incidentally, the Left-Right channelling is reverse on the Food For Thought mixes).

To summarize, this is an immaculate collection of the hits of UB40. Sure, I would have like a few extra tracks but keeping to a single CD, this collection is very close to perfect.

U2's second decade often seemed as preoccupied with the band's burgeoning superstardom--and how to confront/confound it--as it did with creating music. The band managed only four albums during the era (only half of its '80s output), projects whose gestations seemed perennially plagued by turmoil as much as mercurial creative instincts. But as this anthology chronicles, U2 ultimately managed a considerable feat: producing a memorable, lasting body of work in a decade where one of pop music's chief attributes was its disposability. The disc mixes hits like "Mysterious Ways" and "One" with seductive soundtrack cuts (the title track to Wim Wenders's Until the End of the World, Batman Forever's "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me"), new mixes of "Discotheque," "Staring at the Sun," and "Numb," and a pair of strong new tracks, the Orbit mix of "Electrical Storm" and "The Hands that Built America," the title track from Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York. --Jerry McCulley

4 out of 5 stars Hmm.......2007-08-02

I wish they had asked me what were the best songs of this era, as about half of these would not have made the cut. Nonetheless, it's a good cut of the songs that I do feel were the best, and it's got a worthy place in the fanatic's collection.

4 out of 5 stars Not the perfect choice of music.......2007-03-26

Cd 1 is the best of 1990-2000, well I dissagree. "All that you can't leave behind" is under representated, it is one of the best of the band and had many hits but this compilation has only two tracks ?
What about "Elevation", "Kite" or "Walk on" ?
As I said for the other double cd "best of 1980-1990", you have most of the hits but you do not have the best songs. Some great songs are missing simply because they didn't have been played on radio, so don't try to find them on this double cd. The title "greatest hits" would be closer to reality than "The best of"

The bonus cd will me you feel in a discotheque ! Some interesting remixed version like "Mysterious Ways", "If God will send his angels" or "Even better than the real thing". The bonus cd is for die hard fans !

1 out of 5 stars Unlistenable.......2007-02-21

The worst music I think I've ever heard. It's like having your fingernails pulled off and squeezing lemon juice on it. I'd rather be shot in the groin by Dick Cheney than have to ever listen to this again. People that like this must have rode the short-bus when they were young. There's a reason the song says "I still haven't found what I'm looking for", it's because the music sucks.. bad.

5 out of 5 stars U bet..........2007-02-13

THE BEST!!!! My husband & I are so fanatic of this multi-awarded band. Way back when we were still dating, their songs hold a special place in our hearts. Gosh, all their songs are pure & natural. Buying the best of 1990-2000 was the best thing we did that day. We popped it in the CD of our car & we just loved listening to their songs while on the road. I think our 18 month old son will like them too....

Denzel Washington stars as a black football coach hired over a white coach at a recently racially integrated Virginia high school in the early 1970s. Director Boaz Yakin (A Price Above Rubies, Fresh) has a baby boomer's heart in mind with a stylistic array of early 1970s sounds supported by Trevor Rabin's orchestral score (one seven-minute excerpt, "Titans Spirit," finishes things off here). Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band's "Express Yourself" is, perhaps, the greatest surprise, while oddball favorites such as Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky," Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye," and Eric Burdon and War's "Spill the Wine" match up with country star Buck Owens's "Act Naturally." Covers include a fiery version of Sly Stone's "I Want to Take You Higher" and Leon Russell's laid-back barrelhouse-piano take on the doomsday anthem "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall." Cat Stevens's "Peace Train" rolls into the station in its original version. Creedence Clearwater Revival (who appear with "Up Around the Bend") are outswamped by the Hollies' imitation of their sound with "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)." --Rob O'Connor

This is an album and movie filled with great music. It is pretty expensive though, while it is a good album don't pay much more than $10 used for it. I remember watching this movie with a middle school cross country team when it first came out. This is a great album with classic rock and motown combined.

I saw where others have said that a song was missing...but I also noticed "Fire and Rain" By James Taylor is not on it either? What's up with that? I'm gonna have to watch again to see if anything else is missing. What a great great soundtrack...and I LOVED this movie!

2 out of 5 stars The best song in the movie is missing from this soundtrack!.......2006-04-22

Somebody from Florida asked about the missing song. It's "Them Changes" by Buddy Miles, one of the all-time great funk-rock artists of the 60's. He played with Hendrix, Pickett, Ruby and the Romantics, etc. "Them Changes" is the best song in the movie, and it's missing from this soundtrack! How could they exclude it?!!! Without "Them Changes," this soundtrack is a 2 (same tired old songs we've heard a 1000 times). With "Them Changes," this soundtrack would have been a 5. Here's my advice: forget this soundtrack and order the CD "Them Changes" by Buddy Miles.

Some 70 years after being written, Joseph Moncure March's 1928 Jazz-Age poem, The Wild Party, proved it still knew how to inspire: a pair of musicals dedicated to the sultry tale of excess were produced virtually concurrently. Too bad good parties, like good jokes, are often hard to recount. While the Tony-nominated, star-studded, and short-lived Wild Party by Michael John LaChiusa embraced the dark side of the Prohibition-era fête, this off-Broadway production by Andrew Lippa tries too hard to have a good time. March's poem is a seething, seedy work filled with internal struggle, but on this disc we never sense that underbelly. It's not until Taye Diggs, as Black, sings the touching "Poor Child" that we sense any tenderness at all in this morality play. For lighthearted good times, Julia Murney as Queenie and Brian d'Arcy James as her abusive lover Burrs do the job. On the fun, upbeat numbers ("What a Party," "Raise the Roof") this cast shines. But, despite its fascinating premise--a life-changing, epic event in the lives of a bunch of Prohibition-era misfits--this musical somehow still suffers from shallowness. --Jason Verlinde

5 out of 5 stars Amazing. Show-Stopping.......2007-07-10

I'm an admitted musical-theatre geek. But I like knowing about the "underground" shows.. the ones that never QUITE made it. This came to me from a friend who was running a basement theatre at a college, and I forgot his mentioning it for close to a year. When it finally came back to me, I bought it.. and was AH-MAZED. There are simply not words for this music, and the talent brought the show is phenomenal. I strongly recommend taking a chance on this one.. if you sing, there's something for every range; if you dance, there's TONS of great, high-energy dance numbers; and if you love theatre, this is as good as it gets.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2006-11-22

I bought this album because I am a fan of Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs, and may I just say that it blew me away! Some of the songs are so beautiful, with amazing harmonies. Others have you wanting to jump up and celebrate like the characters. My favorite songs include: Look at me Now, Poor Child (really beautiful), Life of the Party, Let Me Drown and How Did We Come to This?. If you are considering purchasing this I uge you do so, you won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars NEEDS to be in any Broadway lover's collection..........2006-10-06

I was hesitant to buy this album because I was told it was a bit raunchy and not well done. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it sooner.

Lippa's "The Wild Party" has quickly risen to my top five favorite shows. The score is outstanding (who CARES if it doesn't consistently fit the time period), the lyrics are entertaining, and the cast...oh, the cast. I admit I bought it for the Idina Menzel factor, but after listening through it, Idina takes a backseat to the outstanding vocal performance of Julia Murney.

Julia Murney, as others have said, is a POWERHOUSE. Not just in the heavy-hitting songs like "Raise the Roof", but in every song she sings. It's dumbfounding. Since then I've seen her perform live, and I must say that the woman is a superb actress- you can tell even by her singing.

It is unfortunate that this show released the same year as LaChuisa's "The Wild Party" on Broadway, but that doesn't mean it's lower caliber by any scale. In fact, I prefer this show. The reviewer who compared Sondheim to Lachuisa and Larson to Lippa was on the right track. Though I would suggest that if you like "Chicago" or "Wicked" at all, you'll probably like this version. It is a lot more fun and the songs are top-notch.

All I can say is BUY THIS ALBUM. I can't imagine anyone regretting it.

2 out of 5 stars An easy way to tell which version of this show you'll prefer:.......2006-08-03

As you may be aware, there are two musical versions of WILD PARTY: this one, written by Andrew Lippa, which premiered off-Broadway, and another version written by Michael John LaChiusa which premiered on Broadway.

Much debate rages in theatre circles about which version is better. In the interest of helping you, the consumer, make an informed decision about which one would better suit you, I have a simple multiple choice quiz you can take. Answer honestly, then scroll to the bottom to tabulate your results (NO PEEKING!).

1.) I think musical theatre is primarily _______.
A) entertainment
B) art

2.) I think RENT and WICKED are bright, shining pinnacles of musical theatre.
A) True
B) False

3.) In a musical, my biggest requirement for songs is:
A) that they be pretty, hummable and toe-tapping.
B) that they be vital to plot and character development.

4.) I think a musical's score should accurately reflect the time period in which it is set.
A) False
B) True

5.) Speaking broadly, I think Stephen Sondheim is _______ while Jonathan Larson is ______.
A) overrated / genius
B) genius / overrated

6.) In a musical, I think the score should:
A) wash over the audience and be easily digestable.
B) require its audience to listen carefully.

Pencils down!

If you scored three or more A's, you will be happier with the Lippa version of this show, as it is a typical book musical in the modernist vein, with an emphasis on musical numbers that function like set-pieces rather than plot points.

If you scored three or more B's, you will be happier with the LaChiusa version of the show, as its score is more stylistically appropriate for the time period. It also develops its characters through music rather than through the script, with an ironic post-modern approach to the subject matter that doesn't attempt to dispell the moral ambiguity of its characters.

5 out of 5 stars DEFINITELY worth your money.......2006-05-30

I am a musical theatre addict and am always on the lookout for exciting, little known shows. And let me tell you, musical theatre fan or not, this music is infectious. The music is so upbeat and the singers so powerful that you will want to listen to this CD on repeat. I rarely buy CDs anymore... in fact, this is the first CD I've bought in about 3 years. I was not disappointed. The Wild Party music is addictive and it amazes me that this show was never on broadway, based on the music alone and the apparent talent of the cast.

Don't be misled. The name of the film may be Duets, but the soundtrack only features three actual duets. The film centers around wacky characters at a karaoke bar, and the soundtrack follows suit, featuring actors singing! Gwyneth Paltrow joins Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds for a cover of "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" and Huey Lewis for a go at Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin'." "Try a Little Tenderness" is run through by Paul Giamatti and Arnold McCuller. Paltrow has a sweet whine in her voice, but it's no match for the husky drawl of Kim Carnes for "Bette Davis Eyes." Huey Lewis is no Joe Cocker with "Feelin' Alright," but it's a valiant rendition. On the other hand, Arnold McCuller's soulful reading of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" recasts the song as a spiritual. Duets is a perfect album for parties where "singing" "Copacabana" is a prerequisite. --Rob O'Connor

This is worth listening to. Everyone has heard Gwen and Mr. Lewis belt out this song on the radio, "I love it when we're crusin' together" THIS is where that song is from. It wasn't a big box office movie but it WAS a great one. If you take the time to watch it, you will recignize a lot of familiar faces! Great Great Great Great Great Movie! Buy it!!!

Four really good tracks on this CD; however, the rest are rough to get through. Paltrow has lovely voice...
Since the movie storyline involved kareoke singers; the track supports this genre.

Composer Clint Mansell made his impact as a soundtrack composer known with his production of the Pi soundtrack. On that disc, the former vocalist for UK group Pop Will Eat Itself melded an abstract 20th-century classical sensibility to electronica with great (and eerie) results. On Requiem for a Dream--the follow-up film from Pi director Darren Aronofsky--Mansell repeats his magic. Here, teamed with the Kronos Quartet--one of the world's foremost (and most progressive) string quartets--Mansell fuses big-beat, ambient, and driving chamber music. The result is a mesmerizing aural complement to an already mesmerizing film. Dark, unpredictable, and thoroughly engrossing. --Jason Verlinde

This movie was really a complete mind blowing experience. It should be the poster movie of why not to do herion. Showing what addiction to anything can do and what it will bring you to. Somewhat a love story and very sad for all the characters involed.

3 out of 5 stars Not the orchestral version used in the "Two Towers" trailer.......2006-05-14

Ok, so don't bash this review. I've never seen the movie, and based on its depressing themes, doubt that I ever will. And I'm not a big fan of this CD either.

I bought this CD ONLY because I heard this thrilling soundtrack for a Ronaldinho soccer video that I had downloaded off the Internet, which some people thought was the Overture from Requiem for a Dream.

Unfortunately, as the Amazon website for this movie soundtrack CD does not have song samples from the CD, I had to actually BUY the CD to see if it contained that soundtrack. The closest track to the song that I was looking for was "Lux Aeternum". The rest of this CD, those tracks that did not repeat the main theme from the movie, I found pretty disappointing.

So I did a vigorous search through the Internet, and finally discovered that the track that I had heard was an orchestral remix of "Lux Aeternum", done especially for the first movie trailer for "The Two Towers". A Google search turned up a post on Aintitcool.com by someone with the screenname of Fatboy Roberts who described how two MP3 versions of this orchestral re-mix came into being.

As far as I can tell, this gorgeous bit of music does not exist in a commercially released form. It is certainly not one of the tracks on the "Requiem for a Dream: Remixed" CD. And so although I would actually like to BUY this music, I was able to find it only on Internet file sharing networks.

Use various combination of keywords such as "Lux Aeternum, "Requiem Overture", "Two Towers", "orchestral remix", "Fatboy Roberts" when searching for this piece.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Soundtrack.......2006-04-04

Clint Mansell & The Krono's Quartet managed to put together a wonderful soundtrack for the film. It works very well on the screen, and is enjoyable to listen to without the movie playing. I definitely recommend this piece!

4 out of 5 stars I'm reviewing this from a slightly different perspective..........2005-12-14

First let me say I have not listened to a ton of original movie scores. So...I'm not sure if every score is as fragmented, short, and abundant in tracks as this one. The pieces of music on this disc, though extremely short, work to PERFECTION on the screen. However, put together in a compilation like this are not as enjoyable for me. The main reason for this is the fragmented nature of the compliation I described earlier. There is no real transition or continuation between most of the tracks on this disc. But do not misunderstand, the music on this soundtrack is phenomenal. (Signature and best track is definitely 'Lux Aeterna.')

I say I am reviewing this album from a slightly different prespective because I listened to 'Requiem for a Dream: Remixed' before this soundtrack. In comparison to the remixed soundtrack, this soundtrack seems extremely sparse and leaves you wanting a little more in the way of longer tracks, more layering, and an overall cohesiveness to the soundtrack.

Conclusion: If you listen to this soundtrack and think how great all these potential samples could be used to create something more, I would suggest picking up Requiem for a Dream: Remixed. However, if your really not into 'remixes' then THIS album should definately suffice and be worth the purchase price.

The latest Jerry Bruckheimer production focuses on five twenty-something women working their way through life at a fashionable bar in New York City. Four new LeAnn Rimes tracks highlight this collection. Though all from the pen of veteran songwriter Diane Warren, the tracks vary in style from diva pop ("Fight the Moonlight") to sentimental musings ("Please Remember"). It's only a matter of time before Rimes leaves country music completely behind for the sleek modern world of mainstream pop. The remaining songs are a hodgepodge of different eras. EMF's "Unbelievable" and Snap's "The Power" hark back to the early 1990s, while Don Henley and INXS deliver the dancebeat kick of the '80s. The firing fiddle of the Charlie Daniels Band's 1979 hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" seems out of context here. But then, this bar must have one odd jukebox to begin with. --Rob O'Connor

The magical triad behind Rushmore's spunky, starry-eyed soundtrack--music supervisor Randall Poster, composer Mark Mothersbaugh, and director Wes Anderson--leaps forward a decade from that beloved soundtrack's '60s gems, in the process adopting a more pensive feel for The Royal Tenenbaums' musical backdrop. It may lack the euphoric sing-along feel of, say, Creation's "Makin' Time," but the rock and folk tracks here perfectly match the film's crumbling characters and their dilapidated relationships. The Ramones' "Judy Is a Punk" is a burst of nostalgic rebellion but surely causes a sad twinge in light of Joey Ramone's untimely death in 2001; gloom-folker Nick Drake's "Fly" and Elliott Smith's excellently depressing "Needle in the Hay"--which is used to chilling effect during a wrist-slashing scene--further deepen the dark thread running through Tenenbaums. But those who prefer the sunny disposition of Rushmore will be thrilled by the calming concoctions of Mothersbaugh, who heralds the coming of a new scene with graceful woodwind/string parts ("Scrapping and Yelling") and playful sitar pieces ("Pagoda's Theme"). Throw in the Clash's squalling "Police & Thieves" and the Velvet Underground's petal-soft "Stephanie Says" and you've got another winning soundtrack from the film biz's most in-tune music lovers. Tenenbaum or not, you can go home again. --Kristy Martin

4 out of 5 stars Help trying to figure out the title of a song.......2006-04-17

Hey, maybe you guys can help me, does anyone know the title of the song playing on a radio while owen wilson is getting high (or preparing to do so) with his friends and his dad and brother step in and tell him they want to help him. I really love that song and i have no idea what the title is

4 out of 5 stars omitted song.......2006-02-01

For anyone interested, one song which was omitted from the soundtract which has not been mentioned is:

Emitt Rhodes - Lullabye

A beautiful track played in the scence where Royal is lying in his bed sucking down a shake and reading a book when Chas say "lights out old man" and switchs off the light. One of my fav songs in the movie along side the rolling stones - she smiled sweetly. sadly both songs were omitted but still a beautiful soundtrack.

4 out of 5 stars Where's Van Morrison?!.......2005-03-16

This is a near-perfect collection of 60's and 70's pop and folk. The sad but hopeful vibe of the songs fits the movie's tone perfectly and you can't really agrue with songs like "Stephanie Says." it's also nice to hear the two Nico cuts since Nico's solo work really doesn't get the acclaim it deserves these days. My problem with this album is that it favors symphonic songs from the film instead of pop songs also used in it such as "Ruby Tuesday" and Van Morrison's "Everyone." I'm really bummed about the exclusion of "Everyone" because i thought it closed the movie so well. They should have released the score and the soundtrack separately so all these great songs could be included.

1 out of 5 stars The Royal Tenenbaums Soundtrack.......2005-03-14

The Collector's Edition Soundtrack leaves out two great Rolling Stones' tunes She Smiled Sweetly & Ruby Tuesday. Also left to the winds is John Lennon's Look at Me, the Clash's Rock the Kazbah. The First Edition leaves a few tunes off too but it is a far better Soundtrack. Puckstar

I do not know what it is about AMERICAN BAND. It is like FORD or CHEVY vs BMW or TOYOTA. Something is missing....its get bored after all. Not to mention from the start, it does not have that exciting refreshing kick to it. UK bands and Scandinavian bands some how GETS IT.

5 out of 5 stars Astro creep's grooviest metal.......2007-02-07

Im usually into white zombie not that interested in rob zombie albums I don't hate em but im usually into the old white zombie stuff alot more. the first song has the perfect speed guitar riff groove ELECTRIC HEAD and SUPER CHARGER HEAVEN. REAL SOLUTION # 9 has the slow heavy guitar riffs and rob sings in a very low voice which is hard to hear what he's saying but very good you would have to read the lyrics to understand and the last one was my most favorite MORE HUMAN THAN HUMAN. 5/5 STARS

4 out of 5 stars A heavy experience.......2006-11-17

This album is great from beginning to end. A classic heavy-metal album, from Electric Head to Blood, Milk and Sky, this is a ride that will fire you up and stir the demons from within. One of my most listened to CD's, still a favourite, even today.

5 out of 5 stars "I remember her saying, I'm already dead...".......2006-01-31

Boy, if the only "metal" you kiddies have been exposed to is that whiny HIM junk, I pity you.

THIS is a REAL industrial-metal album. If that's what you want, this is one you're gonna want.

The pounding, heart-pumping drive of "Supercharger Heaven". (DEVILMAN, DEVILMAN!)
The riff-driven "Creature Of The Wheel".
The ominous-sounding opener, "Electric Head: The Agony (Pt. 1)".
The hit, "More Human Than Human".
And so many more.

Also, the fun, B-movie horror theme (artwork, samples, lyrics) that has come to be associated with Rob Zombie's work is clearly present, and it's campy and really adds to the album.

This is a loud, proud 90's staple. Check it out if you wanna scare all the Yellowcard fans.

4 out of 5 stars and you don't already own this because.....?.......2006-01-12

Unlike Rob zombie's sole stuff white zombie is more gritty, has more guitar work going on and doesn't have as much of an industrial influence to it, but it's still there so don't worry. A lot of the songs are an adrenaline rush and will have up and doing something energenic. One thing about white zombie that I like but don't like about other bands is the use of soundbytes because it adds to the music and doesn't distract from it. So if you like Rob Zombie or metal then buy this cd you won't regret it.
