Toledo takes you on a ride!.......2006-03-17
I'm not sure if it's because I have seen The Toledo Show or what, but I find it difficult to stop listening to him. He is truly unique and takes you on an emotional roller coaster. There aren't words to accurately describe how incredibly talented this man is. Beyond a worthwhile purchase!

A great acid jazz album.......2002-09-06
My discovery of this album was completely serendipitous. I just happened to see Toledo's show at a club in Cleveland and I purchased his CD that night because the show was so good.
Toledo's unique, rough voice really makes the album. It fits perfectly with the dark, moody feel and the stories of the seedier side of urban life. 1940's drum kit, stand-up bass, guitar and saxophone feature prominently on the album. The music and Toledo's voice come together extremely well and make this a great acid jazz album.

The only remarkable artistic thing that happened to me in 96-97 in Los Angeles was seeing Toledo live for the first time. While the CD can't capture the visual excitement of his live show, it's still a good effort. And he is NOT a pale (or dark)imitation of Tom Waits.
