Very Satisfied With This Music CD........2006-08-20

This is an excellent music cd by Daniel who is an excellent male vocalist. All the more I can add is this is the way alot of todays music should be made like with very clear lyrics and excellent music background. No screaming and hollering singing like alot of cd's today. Sorry to say but I believe the recording business companies have lost sight of what real fine music is like today!!! Many performing artists in the music field could learn much from this man's fine performing on cd's
that he has put out for sale to the public.

I purchased this CD from Ireland nearly a year ago.For all of you folks who were teenagers in the 1950's, this is a MUST recording to have for your collection. Done as all of Daniel's music with a great easy listening voice,,It will bring back many memories of a era long past.Elvis..Ricky Nelson..Richy Vallens and more. Daniel does not try to imitate these singers but he does a fantastic job on them.
I had to pay a lot more than this price listed but it was worth every penny.

good CD, looking for God Made Love.......2000-02-25

Hi, I enjoyed this CD by Mr. McDaniels, but I was looking and trying feverishly to find his recording of a song intitled "God Made Love". He did this back in the early 70's. If you can find this recording on a cassette, or CD, even a vinal, I would be interested in obtaining a copy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. e-mail me and let me know what you find out.

All in all a nice collection of tracks from the
British Invasion era, but it's kind of skimpy
when compared to the 8-track version of the same
album. Perhaps Capitol Records can renew their
agreements with Polydor and Ember Records, or
the parent companies if they are subsidiaries,
so we can get the 8-track version of this album
on CD. Anyways, Bus Stop is a well-known Hollies
tune that was penned by Graham Gouldman, who also
was responsible for a few tracks by The Yardbirds
that are fairly well known (For Your Love and
Heart Full of Soul). Ferry Cross The Mersey was
a pretty big hit for Gerry And The Pacemakers, and
is another pop tune. Gimme Some Lovin has been
used a lot on TV, movies and commercials. This
is one of Steve Winwood's groups in the 1960s.
Traffic and Blind Faith are two others, and it's
basically a good soulful tune that can be sung
too. I'm Telling You Now by Freddie & The Dreamers
is another pop hit that might seem familiar to
some people. Do Wah Diddy Diddy, Hippy Hippy
Shake, He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother and
Georgy Girl are familiar pop tunes that have
been used for commercial uses over the year,
so many should be familiar with these hits.
The other four tracks I'm not very familiar
with, but this album runs a little over 30
minutes altogether, and I would recommend
purchasing it if you love music from the
original British Invasion era of rock music.
This contains a lot of pop music on this
album, however, unlike the manufactured
pop music of some of today's artists, this
pop music is quality pop music, not artificial
synthesizer manufactured crass commercialized
junk that seems to infest the airwaves these
days. In those days, pop music was actually
worthy of listening to. The lyrics are
thoughtful and the melodies are enticing
enough to buy it.

If you don't have any Swinging Blue Jeans CD, this CD is not for you. Why? because it has only 12 songs. There are other collections with 25 or 30 tracks. But if you are a Swinging Blue Jeans fan and completist this item is an essential one because it included Angie, Think Of Me and One Of These Days, three lost b-sides. To be straight, Angie and One of These Days had appeared earlier on bootlegs, but officially they were unreleased until this release. Although the other songs are very known for collectors, it's still a good selection for to listen to in wide stereo. Buy it. Ah...and it's cheap...

One of several Liverpool pop groups to achieve international success in the sixties, the Swinging blue jeans were actually formed in 1958, when (acknowledging their hero, Gene Vincent), they called themselves the Bluegenes. They were already regular performers at the Cavern club when the Beatles made their debut in 1961 at that now-famous venue - indeed, the Beatles occupied the guest spot on their show. Later, the Bluegenes became regulars at other Liverpool venues as well as the Cavern. In 1963, they changed their name following a sponsorship deal with a jeans company. After that, things happened quickly, with appearances in Hamburg and their recording contract with a label within the EMI group.

A minor hit in the summer, It's too late now, was followed by the song for which they are best remembered, Hippy hippy shake, which entered the UK charts in December 1963. They recorded this song after hearing the Beatles play it in one of their guest spots at the Cavern club. It made number two in the UK charts and charted in many other countries including the USA. The American rockers, the Georgia Satellites, revived the song in the eighties.

In the spring of 1964, a cover of Good golly Miss Molly (the Little Richard classic) just failed to make the UK top ten, but they were much more successful with You're no good, which made the UK top three in the summer. This song started out as a minor American hit by R+B singer Betty Everett (best remembered for It's in his kiss - the shoop shoop song) but became an American number one hit for Linda Ronstadt in the seventies.

The group had only one more UK hit - it came in 1966, with a cover of Don't make me over (Dionne Warwick) but it failed to reach the top thirty. The group recorded it in 1964 and wanted it to be the follow-up to You're no good but the record label wanted a different song at the time. Maybe it would have been a big hit if it had been released earlier.

While the group played great music, they didn't write their own songs and this may explain their brief run in the charts. Nevertheless, they continued performing for many years afterwards (at least into the nineties - they may even be active still), albeit with line-up changes.

If you enjoy British pop music of the sixties, particularly the Merseybeat groups such as Gerry and the Pacemakers, you will enjoy the music of the Swinging blue jeans.
