AMAZING! She is so much better live!.......2006-12-02
This CD rocks! This is Sarah Brightman on her Harem World Tour, and this performance was recorded at her stop in Las Vegas. The first two tracks, "Kama Surta" and "Harem Overture" debut from her newest album, entitled HAREM. The two tracks are connected, but in the actual Harem Tour, the full piece "Harem" is sung. If you go to www.youtube.com and type in "Harem Tour" in the Search Bar, you can see live videos. I would prefer that the album has placed "Harem" instead of these other two tracks. The third track, "It's A Beautiful Day", is from Madame Butterfly, written by Puccini. This version is Brightman's twist, which some more pop and some English. It's pretty cool. The fourth track on the album, "Dust in the Wind" is from EDEN, an amazing album. Track 5 is, "Who Wants to Live Forever", and it seems as though Brightman never creates a tour without putting this piece in it. It's a beautiful tribute to Queen's rendition. Track Six is "Anytime, Anywhere", also from EDEN. I'm not really into the Foreign Language - English songs, but this works very well, especially because she ends the song with the classical foreign language. The seventh track is Brightman's rendition of Dvorak's "Song to the Moon", or "La Luna". The track is beautiful! The eighth track is Puccini's "Nessun Dorma", and Sarah masters this beautifully! There is no other soprano I know that can sing this piece one octave up and can hold the ending note for ever!!! Track 9 is "The War is Over", which is followed by "Free", both from HAREM. Track 11 is "A Whiter Shade of Pale", from LA LUNA. It's beautiful to listen to. Sarah's version is very gentle, but has a lot of energy in the chorus. The twelfth track on this album is "Twisted Every Way", followed by an instrumental version of "The Phantom of the Opera" Theme. The next track is "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", which is extended at the end, in which you hear some men cry out "WE LOVE YOU SARAH!", and she responds cutely with an, "I love you, too." The audience laughs! Track 14 is "Time to Say Goodbye", the duet that made Andrea Bocelli famous, and skyrocketed as the number one single sold in German history! The last live track on the album is "A Question of Honour", from "Fly", which is awesome! The last track on the album is a bonus track, which I don't really prefer. However, the whole album is simply amazing. I much prefer Sarah when she is live. She has a more magical quality! If you love Sarah Brightman, then you will love this album.
ALSO RECOMMENDED : Since there is so much Sarah Brightman to choose from, I also recommend EDEN, TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, LA LUNA, CLASSICS, and DIVA.

Inspiring, Beautiful and The Sweetest Voice!.......2005-08-21
What an album, absolutly beautiful!
We, the fans of this great artist finelly have in our hands a live album, and it's amazing:
-The voice is totaly live, she sang about 24 complete songs in the show, but the album only contains 15.
-Snow In The Sahara is a lovely song.
If you have the chase of get this alubum, don't doubt and get it; It wond disapoint you!
astounding performance.......2005-06-07
an impeccable concert experience that successfully elevates the album to majestic heights. I had long been a fan of Dead Can Dance and the unparalleled work of Lisa Gerrard. When Sarah Brightman ventured into these Middle Eastern sounds on the Harem disc, I thought it was too derivative of the Dead Can Dance sounds (there is even a sample used on one of SB's songs that had previously been used within DCD).
However, experiencing this epic and intensely mystical concert compelled me to realize the individual and unique glory of Sarah Brightman. Also, this concert is so phenomenally entertaining at many levels that I couldn't help but fall absolutely in love with the special magic of Sarah Brightman. Obviously, the expansive Middle Eastern milieu can accommodate more than one angelic vocalist!
I now consider Lisa Gerrard and Sarah Brightman to be geniuses who both warrant goddess status in the pantheon of lyrical greats. To see either one of them perform live is surely one of the most powerful and memorable sensory experiences one could ever have!
Great, of course.......2005-03-18
Sarah's voice and style are terrific, as usual. However, I have to say that her version of Anggun's "Snow on the Sahara" is fairly bland, especially compared to the original Anggun version. Sarah has the chops but lacks soul on this great song. Everything els here is very nice.

Customer Reviews:
Henry Paul Band- Anytime.......2005-02-20
I was introduced to Henry Paul Band through my college radio station at Western Carolina University. Back in 81, "Keeping Our Love Alive" was being played quite often. I didn't know the Henry Paul bio at that time or his impressive Outlaws history. All I knew was I liked that song and wanted to hear more. After years of only finding a worn out album in a used bin, I am now happy to own the CD.
Another reviewer stated it correct when he said that this is not quite the same as the country-rock style of the Outlaws, but the voice is a dead give away. Later in his career, Henry went on to front Blackhawk, and that voice drew me to those tunes as well.
Living Without Your Love, Anytime, and even the remade over 1 billion times, Brown Eyed Girl, are choice tracks.
I would say take the chance if you like the voice, because it definitely makes an impact on the tunes. Henry had a hand in the songwriting on all of the tunes except BYG. It makes for good music.
Song credits list Bill Champlin, Richard Paige and Tom Kelly as background vocalists. That is an "A" team if there ever was one. I would have love to have been in the studio watching those sessions happen. Add to that the fact that contributing co-song writers include Jim Peterick, Don Barnes and Jeff Carlisi, the CD has a strong supporting cast.
Leave it to Wounded Bird to make this CD available.
The Best From the Henry Paul Band.......2003-09-05
I've been a long time fan of the Henry Paul Band, and in my opinion, this CD is their best effort. It seems to me they hit the perfect combination of Pop and Southern Rock on this release. While not as country influenced at "Grey Ghost" nor as Southern-rockish as "Feel The Heat", this CD combines all the elements of what had gone before in the Henry Paul Band and it works perfectly. My personal favorites are "Hollywood Paradise" and "766-2623(ROMANCE)". These are hard driving rockers. The CD also contains a few nice uptempo love songs, "Living Without Your Love" and "Keeping Our Love Alive". "Anytime" is a bit slower, and it is also good. This is a GREAT CD.
The Former Outlaw Does Great On His Own.......2003-07-02
ANYTIME is a great solo album from former Outlaws guitarist Henry Paul. It feature a mix of Allmans/Skynyrd Southern rock with the AOR of bands like Axe and Sammy Hagar. There are many great songs here, so get it if you can.

What's happened to Debbie?.......2005-04-15
I am not a staunch Gibson fan like most of the drooling 5-star reviews here. But I loved her in the 80's and think her to be a talented singer-songwriter who puts modern pop moppets to shame. I thought it was awesome when she broke into Broadway and made a steady career of it.
Then I heard 'Colored Lights'.
I ask, Debbie!(sorry, DEBORAH), what has happened to you??
Like others here, I applaud her choice to include lesser-known songs. But in doing so, it really behoves her to SELL them as great songs, not rework them for her own interpretation. I felt like I was listening not to the pure-toned, crystal voice of our favourite teen idol, but someone doing a bad impersonation of her. There is hardly a single line she sings which isn't punctured by bad ennunciation, poor phrasing or a lack of respect for the intent of the composers.
There were no gravelly growls(meant to sound sexy, no doubt, but too overdone to succeed), breathy sighs, uneven tone, lacklustre dynamics, excessive scooping, wavery pitch and lack of top range in the Debbie Gibson I remember. But her voice on this album is such a mere shadow of its youthful self that she resorts to these irritating vocal bandaids to get through the song. Any track that had a 'big finish' invariably caused her to run out of steam long before she got there. A belter, Deb is not.
(and I know what I'm talking about, I'm a trained singer myself. If Deborah has a singing teacher, he/she should be shot).
This album was a huge disappointment for me. I love Broadway, but Deb fails terribly to give these songs the great renditions they deserve.
I should add, I have never had the fortune to see Deb sing live, so for all I know, maybe she COULD have done these songs justice had she avoided the pop slant. But this album shows neither the songs nor any talent she still has to advantage at all.
Listen to some Idina Menzel if you want a pop-feel voice that can also out-Belt them all.
A Taste of Broadway.......2004-10-13
I've been a fan of her since God only knows. I know she's not just talented but she is very passionate of (her) music. Knowing that she moved herself into broadways, it's rather of a challenge for me to listen to the songs especially when I'm too familiar with her pop genre. But after a while, I'm used to it coz Debbie is still Debbie to me. She's not afraid of re-arranging the original song to her style, at least she knows what she's doing and again she's proven it. My most favourite track is "Colored Lights", it's light, cheerful, somewhat witty and, in a way, brings up my imagination of seeing her (and the casts) on stage performing the song. All in all, Debbie still has a class and style for us to share.
OUCH!.......2004-08-23
Deborah Gibson is a talented rock star. With a good musical director, she has proved herself to be a wonderful musical theatre performer. This album, however, is a very uneasy marriage of the two genres. She sings every showtune on the album as if it's a pop tune with horrendous bubble gum arrangements. I have seen Miss Gibson in two musicals and have heard her sing showtunes live on other occasions- she knows how to sing showtunes. On this album, however, she's trying to pander to her pop audience and in the process, she created an album that fails as a pop album and as a showtune album. I can only hope that Miss Gibson finds a better musical director the next time she decides to record showtunes.
(Deborah Gibson ) AT HER BEST!!!!.......2004-04-23
Deborah really sing's her heart out on this cd
and it is a must for all of Deborah's Fan's.
Please take the time out and listen to some clip's
of some of the song's from the album. Thank's.
Love You Deborah!!!!
You are the Best!!!!
Deborah delivers deliciously.......2004-02-13
After more than 15 years in the business, Deborah Gibson has learned many lessons and fulfilled many dreams. After 2001's horrifyingly misguided "M.Y.O.B.," she returns to the adult contemporary sound that landed her two number one hits on the Billboard charts, and turns that up a couple of notches. By selecting 13 showtunes from varying Broadway musicals, Gibson satisfies immensely, and delivers a unique compilation worthy of at least one full listen.
"Colored Lights" is not meant to be a showcase of hit tunes; many of the songs on this opus aren't radio hits. Instead, Gibson puts together a delicious smorgasbord of rhythmic melodies and heartfelt ballads that complement her voice (that, strangely enough, hasn't seemed to change that much after more than a decade in the industry).
What is also important to consider in one's evaluation of "Colored Lights" is that, while comparison with the original works/performers is inevitable, we should also take the time to consider that Gibson's pop sensibilities will always shine through. Perhaps it is for that reason, that Gibson has had the best of both pop stardom and Broadway success, that she gives new dimension to these melodies.
The standouts on this collection include "I'd Rather Leave While I'm in Love," which radio would do well to pick up, as the soothing melody and heartfelt delivery will find AC audiences easily; "On My Own," off "Les Miserables," where Gibson as Eponine sounds both heartbroken yet hopeful; the playful title track, from "The Rink," which features some of the most whimsical lyrics I've heard off Broadway thus far; "Raise the Roof," which is truly enjoyable in its pseudo-Latino reincarnation in Gibson's hands (yes, it does beg for a house remix; Gibson's gay audience will see to its success), and "Anytime (I Am There)," which is heartbreaking in its stark delivery, and is easily one of my top five Gibson tracks of all time.
Admittedly, Gibson can't overcome comparisons to the definitive versions of some of the songs. Let's face it: Debbie ain't no Barbra. Her versions of "I'm the Greatest Star" and "Who Are You Now?," while stellar on their own, just fall flat when compare to Streisand's. "Let Me Entertain You," off "Gypsy," ironically, isn't very entertaining, and "Blame It On The Summer Night" drags on.
All in all, "Colored Lights" puts together a collection of songs that are quite distinct and classy, and is easily one of the more worthy albums in Ms. Gibson's discography. She would do well to continue producing albums along this line instead of trying to fight the Britney's and Christina's, because those fads fade, and only the classics remain. Trust in "Colored Lights" to earn a well-deserved place in that section of your record collection.

The six years that fell between Neal Casal's now-deleted 1995 debut, Fade Away Diamond Time, and the appearance of Anytime Tomorrow in the U.S. suggests laziness or an exceedingly slow muse. That's hardly the case. This New Jersey-bred singer-songwriter has seen a total of seven albums released in Europe since the mid-'90s while being mostly ignored by American labels. Casal's groove-wise Neil Young/Tom Petty-style rock carries his sweet, rich vocals through songs that dig deeper than the melancholy a less inspired artist might begin and end with. Indeed, his visions range from the romantic escape of "Oceanview" and "No One Above You" to much bleaker scenarios of betrayal, dislocation, and crime: in "Fell on Hard Times," "Eddy and Diamonds," and "Camarillo," the geography of home is a curse. Casal has shared stages with the likes of Ryan Adams, and Anytime Tomorrow begs to be discovered by listeners hungering for another artist with a glowingly personal take on country-rock-whatever sources. --Rickey Wright
Customer Reviews:
A GREAT Album!!.......2002-01-27
Neal Casal is a talented songwriter and musician from New Jersey (although he grew up in various US locations) who has put out six of the best rock n' roll albums recorded in the past ten years. Unfortunately, for stateside listeners reluctant to send check's to Casal's PO Box in NJ for cds (or order them from the Glitterhouse web site), most of his excellent output is not being heard outside of Germany. And that's too bad, because all of his cds are very much worth hearing and 'Anytime Tomorrow', while not as good as his sensational debut (a peerless, must own cd), is no exception.
On 'Anytime Tomorrow', Casal is backed by many of the same musicians who performed on his previous albums including organist, pianist John Ginty and pedal steel guitarist Greg Leisz. The music on this disc ranges in style from West Coast rock (think Jackson Browne or the Eagles) to the alt-country/Americana genre (think Gram Parsons or early Jayhawks) and focuses on themes of heartbreak, disappointment, and love. The writing is honest and literate and the playing is first rate. Casal's voice is smooth and the tunes are moving, lyrical, and vary from plaintive ("No One Above You", "Time Down the Wind") to driving ("Eddy & Diamonds", "Raining Straight Down", "Camarillo"). There's not a weak song on this disc and very few cds can be recommended as highly as this one. Do yourself a favor, and check it out (of course, you will want all the other Casal discs once you hear this one). Very Highly Recommended.

Country Music for non-Country Music Fans.......2007-05-16
This album is fantastic! I picked it up after hearing it on a listening station at Music Millennium. Elisabeth's voice is not overly twangly like the pop-country I've stumbled upon scanning the radio dial. More importantly, her songwriting is interesting and feels real - it clearly has not been churned out of the Nashville country music song-o-matic. Her backing band, the Countrypolitans, make listening to this record a real treat. This group of musicians know their history and their instruments. They are as adept at 40's/50's era country as they are teetering on the edge of rock. This disc has been in heavy rotation since picking it up 2 months ago. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

**3/4. Decent 1964 session.......2005-05-29
German producer Horst Lippman, who will be familiar to fans of the exquisite "American Folk Blues Festival" DVDs, produced this November 1, 1964 session behind the Iron Curtain in East Germany.
Bassist/guitarist Willie Dixon, pianist Sunnyland Slim, and Howlin' Wolf's legendary guitarist Hubert Sumlin are backed by blues drummer par excellence Clifton James on most of these twelve tracks, and while a few slow songs never really get off the ground, there is some good material here worthy of attention.
This is Hubert Sumlins first time singing on record. He performs the lead vocals on two songs, and provides two instrumentals as well...acoustic ones, no less, displaying once again his prowess on the guitar.
The title track is a run-of-the mill, partly spoken slow blues by Willie Dixon, who fares a little better on the acoustic "Big Legged Woman". But the best performances are those by Sunnyland Slim...not highly original, perhaps, but sturdy and rather enjoyable.
Casual blues fans who are taken in by the praise being heaped upon this decent but unremarkable and not particularly accessible studio album will be disappointed...the least of Muddy Waters' or Howlin' Wolf's Chess singles can easily compare to the best song here.
But seasoned blues fans will certainly find something to like. Sunnyland Slim's performances are generally the best, but Hubert Sumlin's solo rendition of the Lightnin' Hopkins-pastiche "I Love" is very charming, as is Willie Dixon's take on his own "My Babe".
This is not an instant classic, though...most of the live recordings from the mid-60s blues festivals are head and shoulders above this occationally-good-but-never-truly-great set.
Essential.......2003-03-14
If you buy one record combing the talents of the vastly neglected Sunnyland Slim, the prodigous Willie Dixon and Howlin' Wolf's back-up man, Hubert Sumlin, this would be it. Stripped down blues with a feeling. More real soul than a crate of SRV CDs. Dah real thing.
Sumlin's amazing talking blues..........1999-09-18
Sumlin's amazing talking blues. Sunnyland's valuable blue piano. Great CD. Buy it!!
Legend of blues..........1999-09-02
This is a historical recording in a blues festival. Artists named in this CD are not only the blues masters but also the artists who did not release many records as a primary artist. Great blues after great blues. Awesome CD.
Masterful Blues From Some Blues Masters.......1998-10-23
This LP was cut in East Germany while the gang was over in Europe for the American Folk Blues Festival in 1964. The musician names on this CD ought to give you a clue as to how great it is. This is some awesome blues. Check out the amazing power on the Sumlin cuts "I Love" and "Hubert's Blues"...unbelievable stuff.
