About the Artist
Raised in Compton, Calif. Mickey has always had an ear to the street. Disbelief strikes those who listen to his music when they hear that he played and sang all vocals on the track that they're listening to. His musical style has been compared to Prince, or a young Teddy Riley. "I admire both of those guys" admits Mickey, who has developed a sound that is captivating audiences across all musical genres. Like Prince, his music is liked across the whole musical spectrum. In response to that he says, "I'm not big on classifications so I don't classify my music, but people in general seem to really feel it". His smooth, silky voice accompanied with production value that another of Compton's finest have been noted for, is making waves throughout the industry. "Hip-hop, R&B, funk.....stuff to make the feet step, or the head bob, that's what I like, that's what my friends like, that's what I put out. So far, everyone else has liked" The future of music is about to change and Mickey will be a part of that.

Can't wait to get it!.......2007-07-17
My 12yr old introduced me to WT via her love of Anime and similar sites. Very similar to Enya, Enigma and Evanescence, yet vocals and instrumentals VASTLY more mesmirizing and worthy! So much so I bought 2. One for each of us! Looking forward to it! Her's is a surprise.
Amazing!!.......2007-07-16
This is Within Temptation at their best! Every part of this cd has feeling to it. I'f your a fan of bands like evanescence I recommend Within Temptation..and really this band holds their own. GREAT CD!! GET IT!!
Worth the money .......2007-07-04
I looked everywhere for this CD. Trust me, you can't find it. That said it's one of the best CD's I have bought in the past few years. The vocalist is compelling, and the overall sound is great. They're a lot like Nightwish soundwise, but the lyrics are much better in my opinion. Worth the money any day.
I shouldn't have spoken so soon........2007-06-06
I've heard only a few songs from Within Temptation and had avoided them for years after. They didn't gain much attention from me because I wasn't impressed by what I heard (I was expecting a bombastic first impression). I was wrong to do so because I took a listen to them again not too long ago by watching the video for "Memories" and I became highly interested in them. I downloaded "Jillian" and after hearing an awesome intro, I was enraptured completely. I ordered this cd without hearing the rest of the tracks. I rarely do such a thing. "Pale" and "Memories" are gems.
This album has a high range of hauntingly imaginative atmosphere that few bands, Leaves' Eyes in particular, can produce. While having a solid theme to this album, W.T. put various emotions and atmospheres into each song. This is a good trait because it keeps us interested for a long time and usually has the listener repeating the tracks. Why didn't I see this sooner? I am always eager to hear different bands and different material.
This will go into my ever growing music collection.
I recommend Leaves' Eyes because, they too, are able to grow on to the listener, while keeping them in a prolonged trance. I regret the fact that I have avoided this band. Might I also mention that Sharon actually does have a wonderful voice. I have another lady to grace my tons of Anneke Van Giersbergen, Liv Kristine, and Cristina Scabbia vocal contributions.
Wonderful Music.......2007-05-07
For those who are drawn towards any music like Enigma, Enya, or Evanescence, this cd has alot of great tracks. I recommend it to anyone who has such taste in music.

Just a lot of fun.......2007-07-29
Like one other reviewer, I'm at least 40, and while I know this is really music created by and for the younger generation, I love this CD. It rocks and the bass shakes my car like crazy! And it's refreshing the the lyrics are something I'm not ashamed for my kids to listen to. For me, it's a pleasant change from some of the other me-too music out there today. I think the guitar work is hard-driving, the vocals are innovative and while subtle, some of these songs have good solid Christian messages. I'd have to say my favorite song is "Love U to Death", or maybe "Never Let You Go", but I love the whole CD. If you want to find a band and a CD that will rock you and make you feel good to boot, go buy this one! You won't be sorry!
Family Force 5 -- A Force to be Reckoned with..........2007-06-26
Family Force 5 delivers an onslaught from the first second to the very end. It's a wall of sound from start to finish that is some of the most fun you're likely to ever hear (unless they ever release an equally good sophomore album, etc).
This is the perfect crank-it-up, piss off your neighbors, head-banging kind of music. And it's great to scream along to.
What I've Been Looking For!.......2007-05-11
This cd is exactly what I have been looking for. Nice crunchy guitars, upbeat, and clean vocals. I just picked it up today, and I couldn't help but put my window down and turn the stereo up. I'm pushing 40, and this cd made me feel like I was in high school again. Great, great fun disc.

Family Force 5 is one of the best bands out there! their music is super catchy and you'll wanna sing it all day long... I DO! Before I had heard FF5 I didnt really like the loud upbeat music, but these guys were just so good I couldnt help but wanna hear them again and again! so I bought the CD. Trust me if you are fun, crazy, and loud you will LOVE this CD!!!

Usually when you read that an album is "inspired by" a motion picture or TV show, you can be certain that the one thing those artists were inspired by was a big fat check, and consequently those records generally do not sound very good. But the debut collaboration between no-longer-underground hip-hop artists Dangermouse and MF Doom, allegedly inspired by the Cartoon Network's late-night stoner-centric animation series Adult Swim, is far better than it has any right being. Doom has one of the best flows around, and he's at least as smart as your favorite dictionary-digger. Danger Mouse's obscure samples are excellent, but this is just a fun record that's not trying to be more, or less. Character voices get worked in, and these are pretty cool, especially Shakey's send-up of the fake answering machine cliché. There're also guest appearances by Ghostface Killah, Cee-Lo, and Talib Kweli. When it comes to rappers hanging with cartoon characters, Mouse and the Mask is more fun than a Shaq attack and a Gorillaz record combined. --Mike McGonigal
Album Description
Two of this generation's most respected hip-hop artists, Danger Mouse and MF Doom have come together for this album, inspired by Adult Swim, Cartoon Network's popular late-night animation network. Doom, with his near obsession with masked identities and superhero personas, and Mouse, with his murky, ethereal soundscapes that cloud men's minds like Mandrake, are the perfect partners for the project, and each has inspired the other to the finest work of their careers. "The Mouse & The Mask" contains character voices and skits from Adult Swim's most popular original shows, including "Aqua Teen Hunger Force", "Sealab 2021", and "Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law", along with guest appearances by Cee-Lo, Talib Kweli, and Ghostface Killah.

Should've been spectacular, got good instead.......2007-06-13
After gaining worldwide notoriety with the ceased and desisted Grey Album, Danger Mouse replaced Dan The Automator as producer for the highly publicized Gorillaz sophomore LP Demon Days. As such, he is currently one of underground hip-hop's hottest beat-makers and this will assuredly continue in light of this MF Doom collaboration. Last year, the Madlib assisted Madvillain saw Doom hitting more lists than not so it's safe to assume The Mouse & The Mask is pretty much destined for success. However, with almost every character from the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim receiving prime breakdown and interlude time, Danger Doom is the basic antithesis of the b-movie horror vibe Madvillainy enjoyed, which probably benefited from a more universal appeal as your enjoyment of this DM and MF release will be greatly affected by your attitude towards the likes of Harvey Birdman and Space Ghost.
[adult swim]'s Commercialization (Rating: 8 out of 10- -4 stars).......2006-12-04
[adult swim] was being viewed by many people who enjoyed humorous cartoons on the Cartoon Network Channel. I might have been watching that channel since the age of 5 (it used to come on locally here in Atlanta up until about '94). [adult swim] has been responsible for bringing us humous PG 13 cartoons such as "Aqua Teen Hunger Force", "Sealab 2120", and more. I believe they felt the need to cash in on the music industry by allowing MF Doom and Danger Mouse to drop an album under the name Danger Doom. And truthfully, I believed that people bought this album, just becasue of the [adult swim] logo on it.
The Danger Doom album "The Mouse And The Mask" was good to listen to. Most of MF Doom's rhymes are good to listen to (a better move over that "Madvillany" album if you ask me). His flow was consistant throughout this album. Danger Doom's production is good too. This was the first time I hear his production, and it was very impressive.
What I like most about this album is the cameos by the cartoon characters themselves. Master Shake appears on a few tracks leaving voice mail messages cussing out Danger Mouse for not letting him rhyme. Meatwad and Brak spits a few rhymes on this album. There are more cartoon cameos throughout this album too.
Guest appearances are few. Ghostface Killah appears on "The Mask" which is good. Cee-Lo sings the hook to "Benzi Box". And my favorite track is "Old School" with Talib Kweli, is perfect.
The problem I have with this album is the length. The album clocks in at about 37 minutes, making it seem kind of short. Also the songs are short in length too, averaging about 2 and a half minutes, not hearing enough Doom.
Other than that, this album is recommended to fans of [adult swim] who haven't purchased this album, or fans of both MF Doom and Danger Mouse. There are no filler tracks here. Just head nodding music. Enjoy.

Hip-Hop at its best.......2006-11-26
This is a OK album considering its one of the first Danger Mouse+M.F. Doom callabo's(other's were November has Come-Gorillaz)If you ask me some of the tracks will leave you wanting more from the duo and some of the beats annoy you(Basket case, benzie box) other than that the samples are ill danger's beats are one of the sickest, and doom's rhymes are ill(always have bee)if you're gonna cop it its worth your monbey!
Fantastic Beats.......2006-11-04
I was a little skeptical when I purchased this album, not being all that fond of the only track I had heard MF Doom rap on, "November Has Come" by Gorillaz, but I gave it a chance.
Danger Mouse really shines on this album, making every track completely fresh and funky. MF Doom even grew on me, though, among my favorites would have to be Old School, with Talib Kweli, and Benzi Box, with Cee-Lo. However, the whole album is spectacular really. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the bleeping of profanity. I feel that the content on the album is more adult oriented, as is the subject matter from which it took its inspiration, and as such, I feel that the bleeping was unnecessary.
Great album, though, Doom, Danger, and all the others really took me by surprise, and it ended up that this album was far better than expected.
A little disappointed.......2006-09-28
This is my first album from either artist and I have to say, that I was expecting a little more. Adult Swim really, really pushed this album so I bought it. MF Doom is very good at what he does. His rhymes are off the hook and Danger Mouse kicks butt with making beats. The clips from the Adult Swim crew are pretty funny. But, with the exception of a handful of songs, the album lacks that "I wanna listen to it over and over again" feel. I like the album, but maybe I was expecting too much from it.

John Williams' lovely and moving score for the sixth Star Wars film brings thirty years of collaborating on George Lucas' beyond-popular intergalactic franchise to a close. (Is this really the end of Star Wars? Can't Lucas and Williams work together on a prequel to these prequels? Let us hope so, and that Jar Jar Binks is nowhere near it.) As this music accompanies the most exciting Star Wars film in many a moon, the soundtrack itself is more fun, more evil, more nasty and bumpy. Many of the heroic, anthemic themes woven throughout Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith will necessarily be familiar to any fan of the series, from the "Imperial March" to the main theme. It's remarkable how stirring the latter can be, no matter how many times you've heard it, and even for those who do not have all their money invested in S.W. memorabilia. There is a lot of new music here, and the lush, extensive range of both Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra is on display, most notably in the menacing, percolating "General Grievous" and the rousing "New Hope" end theme. --Mike McGonigal

Star Wars: A Musical Journey (2005) (V).......2007-06-21
product: Star Wars: A Musical Journey (2005) (V), included as bonus disc in Episode III soundtrack.
The bonus dvd with this soundtrack was the reason I purchased. I enjoy film soundtracks, and science fiction, but this dvd was a real highlight for me. I got the soundtrack cd out of the local library. The cd was missing from the case, but I found this wonderful dvd instead that I went out to purchase later.
With optional segments of dialog from Ian McDiarmid, this film is a stunning visual and musical overview of the full epic story of episodes I-VI of Star Wars. For those of us who felt that eps. IV-VI fell short of our expectations, this film presents them well as parts of the whole story. The Musical Journey also stands as a summary of the entire SW opus for someone who is not familiar with the Star Wars characters and plot. Highly recommended.

Not one of his bests, but very close.......2007-05-21
The Episode III soundtrack is very good. Not great, but very, very good. You can tell that Williams is getting old, but he still manages to weave together a very memorable score.
My favorite tracks are "Battle of the Heroes," "Anakin's Betrayal," Palpatine's teachings, "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan," and the "Immolation Scene."
The others are very good as well, but these are especially nice. "Battle of the Heroes" is Dual of the Fates for Revenge of the Sith. "Anakin's Betrayal" is a very sad track that is, in my opinion, one of William's most powerful pieces. "Palpatine's Teachings" is really, really neat. It's very dark and moody, a perfect piece for the evil emperor. The only weird thing is the end. "Anakin vs. Obi-Wan" is the action piece that plays during the battles of Anakin and Obi-Wan, and Yoda and the Emperor. Finally, "The Immolation Scene" is another sad piece, even more so than "Anakin's Betrayal."
Although I really like this CD, there are some things that are missing (as usual). First, the whole sequence where the droids are looking for Obi-Wan after he was shot. You see Obi-Wan in his ship with Senator Organa on the Hologram (or whatever it is), and Obi-Wan says that his clones turned on him. That was some pretty awesome music that OF COURSE was left out of the CD. Then there was Dual of the Fates in the movie, but completely absent from the CD. And probably the most annoying was that whole piece of music before Obi-Wan and Anakin fight. It was so touching and sad and I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY LEFT IT OUT! Absolutely amazing. Also, did anyone notice that some little bits were cut out? For example, in Anakin vs. Obi Wan, they cut out about a second or two of choir. What?! What the heck is with that? It's when Anakin is running on the long thing and jumps on the droid on the lava. Also, there was some pretty cool drumming when you see Yoda and the Emperor fighting, and you can see the whole stadium (the big room). There's also drumming in "Enter Lord Vader" that is muted in the soundtrack.
Oh well...if I'm going to collect movie scores, I'm going to have to get used to the fact that in almost all cases there's not going to be every bit of music. I've experienced this in both Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park I (there was very little left out on this score), and almost everything else. At the moment, I'm just waiting for the 22nd, for the Pirates of the Caribbean 3 soundtrack. It's gonna be amazing.
See Yu
John Williams' finest work.......2007-04-20
There is little more I can say that hasn't already been said about the soundtrack to Episode 3, especially what Amazon contributor Dan Mohr wrote in his review of the soundtrack on 2/2/2006. His review captured almost all the thoughts, feelings, and emotions I had when I first listened to the soundtrack, and was, IMO, the best review of John Williams' greatest masterpiece.
Having said that, I will say that few soundtracks have ever so perfectly captured the underlying emotional currents of their respective movie; in the case of ROTS, the contemporaneous tragedies of Anakin's fall to the Dark Side, the extermination of the Jedi, and the rise of the oppressive Empire. The listener is confronted with the depth and totality of the evil that has beset the entire galaxy to a degree that the film could not reach in only 2 hours.
Bravo, Dan Mohr, and BRAVO John Williams!
A Great Conclusion to the Prequel Trilogy.......2007-04-07
This is a great work of art. I rank it 4th among Star Wars soundtracks after A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and The Phantom Menace. I had a hard deciding which I thought was better, The Phantom Meance or Revenge of the Sith, but I decided that The Phantom Menace lays the foundation for so much that is in this soundtrack and is thus the more masterful work. But that doesn't mean that this score still isn't great. Every piece is a thrill to listen to and pace never lets up. "Battle of the Hereos" is an amazing piece and the rendition of the "Funeral Theme" from Episoded I captures the film's tragety magnificently. Also I do not think John Williams could have portrayed the Jedi's extinction more perfectly than he did in "Anakin's Betrayal". This is without a doubt the best score of 2005 and one of the best of the decade.
Williams is slumming it.......2007-04-01
Williams's score for Revenge of the Sith is almost entirely overbearing, lacking any emotional subtlety. The music is overcomplicated and even a bit confusing, especially in the tracks that correspond to action sequences in the movie. His overuse of choral tracks and vocals is too bombastic and irritating to be listened to without the explosions and laser blasts of the soundtrack to soften them. (Yes, this music is actually softened by the sounds of warfare.) Worst of all, much of the music has simply been lifted from earlier scores. At times his self-imitation was so blatant that I actually wondered whether the editor who had complied this score had made a mistake and I was listening to The Empire Strikes Back or A New Hope. Also suffers from not including the entire score, in some cases cutting out musical segues in obvious and awkward ways.

A TRUE FIVE STAR ALBUM IN A BEWILDERING SEA OF THE UNDESERVING.......2007-07-07
I know it's not going to happen but I think that a one to ten star rating system would make it far easier to rate an album more accurately. The reason I bring this up on this particular review is because I know that from time to time I too am guilty of giving a five star rating to an album that perhaps doesn't quite deserve it. However, this is not one of those times; this IS a five star album.
This album is first-rate in all respects, from Sharon's beautiful vocal performance and the guitars - which were all recorded in Holland, to the drumming - which was recorded in Belgium, to the full orchestra and choir - which were recorded in Russia, with each recording location being chosen for its individual capacity to contribute to this recording. It is obvious that no corners were cut in the production of this album, and it is clearly evident upon first listen, this album sounds magnificent. This album starts off brilliantly, has some even higher points along the way, and then ends even more brightly than it began. This is a very impressive and rewarding album, and has become one of my favorites. And for me this is very high praise to be sure, primarily because a band with a female singer will just about never make it to an album that I would rate as one of my favorites. However, this is certainly nothing against female singers, I just prefer the sound of a singer like Brian Johnson, Dio or Bruce Dickinson. (That doesn't make me gay does it?) And because of this preference if I had a single critical thing to say about this album it would be that at times Sharon's voice does get a bit on the high side. Conversely though, I am sure there are many that will enjoy this facet of her voice, and over and above any sound preference one might have, her vocals are always appropriate to the music. Furthermore, and far more worthy of mention is the fact that Sharon has an absolutely gorgeous voice, which easily rates as one of the best female Rock/Metal voices ever, not to mention she's pretty damn easy on the eyes. (Did I mention that I'm not gay? - Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Now, as is natural I suppose, I also feel compelled to compare this album to their previous album, 2001's 'Mother Earth', which some say it is better. However, I would like to make it known that I actually own both albums, and have for quite some time now. Consequently I have no reservations in telling you that in my opinion, with all things carefully considered, this album is without question a better offering. But by only a small margin though, as 'Mother Earth' is also a fantastic album, and a fantastical album I might add, that in comparison I would rate 4.5 stars. I won't get into the differences here, because the differences are substantial, and it would take a bit of explaining. Just trust me when I say buy this album first, and if you like it (and you will like it) then buy 'Mother Earth'. But just be prepared to hear something much more imaginary and grandiose. FYI, I also own WT's latest album, 2007's 'The Heart Of Everything', another exceptional album which I would also rate 4.5 stars. And believe me, I am not indiscriminately doling out praise or being liberal or charitable, these albums have earned their ratings. I think three rock solid albums in a row is an amazing accomplishment, and damn near unheard of, but believe or not WT has done it, as there is no filler to be found on any of these albums! And this amazing accomplishment certainly did not happen by accident, as Sharon said in an interview; "we do feel a lot of artistic pressure to write beautiful music" - "we are very critical of our music, a great deal of our ideas and songs are thrown away, and that's why it always takes us so long to write a new album". This is true, WT has only been releasing a new album once every three years. Which granted is a long time between offerings, but this should only be seen as something admirable, and deserving of praise, as releasing an outstanding album every three years is without question a whole lot better than releasing a marginal album every year.
In conclusion, this album, 'The Silent Force' is one of those albums that I just can't recommend more highly. Buy it now! I honestly don't see how anything but delight could be found. (Did I mention that I'm not gay?) :-)
A Deal at Twice the Price.......2007-04-13
This CD was worth every penny: soulful, operatic, and yet still grounded in fire-and-fury, balls-out rock. "Stand My Ground" is a beautiful testimony to strenth and individuality, "Aquarius" gains points for the mythology reference, and "Angels" simply stunning. If you need a reason to by the CD, listen to "Angels."
Exellent! Within Temptation's best album........2006-11-16
If you liked Evanescence's album "Fallen", then you will probably like this album. Good rock beats combined with soaring, operatic vocals to make a musical experience that I never get tired of listening to.
My first WT cd.......2006-07-07
Being a huge fan of gothic metal bands such as Elis, Midnattsol, Leaves' Eyes and of course Nightwish, I have always wanted to check out Within Temptation but their cds aren't available in the states at regular prices. Thankfully I received a copy of the band's most recent album "Silent Force" from a friend. I immediately took to the music right away. It definitely goes without saying that Sharon Den Adel has a gorgeous voice. I personally thought her delicate vocals were eerily reminiscent of both Sarah Brightman as well as Liv Kristine of Leaves' Eyes/formerly of Theatre of Tragedy. The music in general is an epic proportion of metal laced with sumptuous goth melodies which often veered off into opera territory at times. I loved all the songs on the cd. All of the songs had a nice balance between the heavy metal guitar riffs and delicate goth melodies.
boring.......2005-08-26
After their great success with "Mother Earth," it seems that Within Temptation is struggling to find a niche in the music world. I loved "Mother Earth" and its fusion of musical genres. I eagerly anticipated the group's next CD. I was disappointed in this newest release. There are no songs that leave any lasting impression to speak of, and the songs tend to sound boring and repetitive after the first 3 cuts. For those of you who loved "Mother Earth," don't bother buying "Silent Force."

Still Worth 5 Stars.......2007-02-13
How can you not give this five stars? This is great guitar orientated rock even though Andy Parker's cymbals sound awful. I have never tired of playing this album for over thirty years and it is still one of my favourites. There are five classic songs that the band still perform live. "Let it Roll" and "Shoot Shoot" are great heavy rock standards and "Mother Mary" and "This Kid's" are two of the many highlights on the "Strangers" live album. Add to this the wonderful "Out in the Street" and you can forgive the dated production. The whole thing comes packaged up in another magic cover by Hipgnosis for less than a fiver (English pounds folks!) What joy!
Vaudeville carries on..........2007-01-29
UFO had reinvented themselves on their third studio album 'Phenomenon' but they were not quite a great band yet. What they needed to do was to utterly lay to waste their dopey space rock origins and dive bomb into the early metal years. On 'Force It', released in June 1975, the band created the first of their many stellar hard rock albums. With Michael Schenker fighting a language barrier that isolated him from his English bandmates you would think that album #2 would slip in quality but in fact 'Force It' leaves it in the dust. The songs are amazing and the classics are true classics, just as "Doctor, Doctor" and "Rock Bottom" are. The record kicks off with "Let It Roll", an absolute loud and obnoxious monster which begins with Michael's trademark sustained tone and launched into riffs galore!. "Shoot Shoot" is probably my alltime favorite UFO song, good boy meets bad woman and pays the price, the song is a masterful, commercial hard rock song! Even the ballads are outstanding including "Out in the Street" which includes another amazing lead break from Mr. Schenker plus a great emotional vocal from Phil Mogg. The lyrical quality of many of these songs is also a huge step above what the band had accomplished thus far. "Love Lost Love" is much is the same vein as "Shoot" with great guitar melody and chorus, "Mother Mary" (a riff monster in the tradition of Sabbath) and "This Kid's", the album closer and set favorite (like about half the songs here) are intense with their crunch and strut. Quiet times "High Flyer" and "Between the Walls" take nothing away from the sonic brilliance of this amazing record. Easily my favorite UFO disc and probably the most unsung great album in the history of seventies heavy metal. By the way, love how the remastered version put a t-shirt on the girl, my version has the faded picture where she is obviously nude. All in good taste and fun!
A must have for the real Rock Collector........2007-01-08
Ufo has had many ups and downs. And in a way it has made them who they are now. Like a great wine they just keep getting better with age. Released in 1975 "Force It" had the bands lineup with Phil Mogg - Vocals, Andy Parker - Drums, Pete Way - Bass, Michael Schenker - Guitars, and Chick Churchill - Guest on Keyboard.
1. Let It Rock
2. Shoot Shoot
3. High Flyer
4. Love Lost Love
5. Out In The Street
6. Mother Mary
7. Too Much Of Nothing
8. Dance Your Life Away
9. This Kid's (Including Between The Walls.)
You can't go wrong with a CD by UFO if you are into this style of hard rock.
Good hard rock album.......2007-01-03
This is a really good album to listen to , it has a mix between hard rock tunes with good vocal melodies. The song that blew my mind is Mother Mary it sounds very modern . Just try and buy this album!!!!
Rubba dub dub, two half naked people in a tub.........2006-05-11
When I first bought this on vinyl some twenty years ago, I was not too impressed with it. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I loved ' Phenomenon ' so much and was disappointed that it didn't sound more like that album. Maybe it's because most of the songs didn't catch on at first listen. Maybe it was the song titles, which I don't think rank amongst their best. Whatever the case was, I remember not liking it that much and foolishly traded it away. Some twenty years later, I bought this on CD and now realize how wrong I first was about this album.
Yeah, the songs are not as immediately likable as the tunes from ' Phenomenon ' and the high points aren't as high, but taken on it's own terms, this is a great album. Tunes that didn't catch my ear at first, like the two opening hard rockers, ' Let It Roll ' and 'Shoot Shoot ', I now absolutely love and tunes that I liked the first time around, such as the ballad ' High Flyer ' and the crunchy hard rocker ' Mother Mary ' , I like even more now. This is certainly a more aggressive and heavier album than it's predecessor, but it's also more diverse in terms of material. Keyboards, courtesy of Ten Years After keyboardist Chick Churchill, make their first appearance on a UFO album and definitely add, as opposed to subtract, from the overall sound. The keyboards are at their most effective on the album's closing track, ' This Kid's (including ' Between The Walls '), particularly during the last two and a half minutes. At the moment, this is my favorite song on the album. It fades out with some mournful sounding church (or ' Churchill '!) organ, leaving me wanting more, which is a nice way to end on album.
Catchy guitar riffs, singalongable vocal melodies AND guitar solos are in abundance throughout the album, even on what I think are some of the album's weaker cuts such as ' Dance Your Life Away ' and ' Love Lost Love '. Oh yes, and I almost forgot to mention Pete Way's ' Too Much Of Nothing ', which has a very early Alice Cooper-like bass and drum section in the middle. Oh yes..again..I like Andy Parker's very solid drumming on ' Shoot Shoot '. See, there is a bunch to like on ' Force It '! You should buy it!

amazing album.......2007-07-23
this is an amazing album both musically and in guitar virtuosity. i love the idea of shred in a classical foundation, and malmsteen knows how to pull it off beautifully!
Shredding for Shredding Sake.......2007-05-05
When this record came out I am proud to say I already knew two things. 1. Who Yngwie Malmsteen was. 2. How to pronounce his name - at least I think I knew that - all because of the mid 80's radio show "Metal Shop". Rising Force is one of those albums that I am glad I am reviewing 20 + years later than right after I bought it. Mainly because my opinion has changed very little. This was killer back then and it remains so to this day. I never cared much for the two tracks with vocals but the instrumentals are phenomenal. This record is everything that was good about 80's metal - it is a fine example of the self-indulgence guitar style of the era but with remarkable musicianship.
This set a standard.......2007-03-17
There was not a guitar player on the face of the GLOBE that didn't sit up and take notice when this was released 20+ years ago . No other guitar player is this fast and this clean . His use of baroque chord structures had never been done before . If you think you are a good guitar player , try this . The only weak spot is the pedestrian ( even by heavy metal standards ) lyrics . This is a landmark release .
OK, but not Malmsteen's best shredding.......2007-02-13
I would consider myself a casual fan of Yngwie, and guitar shredders rarely make it into my CD collection at all. Rising Force contains some quality playing and interesting song structures, but I feel that it is artistically dated at this point. Yngwie became a much better player in later years, and seeing him in the G3 DVD was mind-blowing. Going from that to Rising Force made it easy to see his improvement. The album is a classic for guitarists, but the guitar work is clearly not up to par with Malmsteen's more recent material (which is really a good thing when you think about it). Also, the production seems rather mediocre and muffled, making the potentially exciting songs sound dead. Basically, if you're a big Yngwie fan, you'll want it, but if you just want to hear some amazing playing, go for his stuff at G3 instead.
The one that blew down the doors for neoclassical metal!.......2007-01-31
If you're a guitar nut, you should own this, PERIOD. It's the album that opened the door for a flood of characters like Vinnie Moore, Jason Becker, and a host of others.
Nonetheless, I'd like to point out a difference between a "door opener" and an "influence." Many reviews here credit Yngwie as a major influence on guys like Satch, Vai, Gilbert, V. Moore, Macalpine, Petrucci, Becker, Friedman, etc... and from that list, I can give you relative youngsters like Becker and Friedman, but c'mon folks: everybody else on that list had already been honing their chops for years: their influences were the same as Yngwie's: Paganini, Mozart, Bach, etc... what Yngwie did for them is OPEN THE DOOR, and in some cases like Vai and Satch, their sound is more reminiscent of Van Halen than anything else, anyway: I'm not really certain YJM had much influence on them at all.
So... yes: this is the apotheosis of neo-classical shred guitar. Not only should you own it for posterity's sake, but also because "Black Star", "Far Beyond the Sun", and "Icarus Dream Suite op. 4" are all right up there with any neo-classical recordings ever made: at least one of them should be on your regular guitar-oriented playlist from here on out.

An excellent piece of work.......2007-06-27
Truly one of their best works, with the early crew of Uli Roth leading the FORCE.
Pleasant beats........2007-06-04
The album has very good tunes. The Riot of your time has a very enjoyable blend of guitar sounds. Overal it is one of my favourite Scorpions albums from their earlier years.
Great album........2007-02-23
This is a great scorpions album. It ranks up there with Fly to the Rainbow and In Trance (my two favorite scorp albums.) I think it's better than Virgin Killer but I know others may disagree. Definitely a must if you like old scorps.
4.25 Beat Rainbow and Matched Van Halen the Same Year.......2005-12-24
As good as Rainbow's Long Live Rock 'N' Roll and Ac/Dc's Powerage were, it was this album and the first Van Halen that really got me excited back in 1977.In fact, this album comes close to reaching the heights of a Classic album like Judas Priest's Sin After Sin.
Although that says alot for this album, I must make clear from the start that this isn't overall the Monster album (in the good way) that Virgin Killer was, or the even better Tokyo Tapes and Lovedrive would be. However, that's very nitpicky, as all of the albums mentioned are well worth getting. It's like arguing over whether to buy UFO's Phenomenon or Force It first.
It's interesting to note how both Ac/Dc and Scorpions are classified as Hard Rock, yet the difference between the two is quite marked. Ac/Dc's mega-amped blooze-Zeppelin Rcok sounds only peripherally related to Scorpions. The difference is mostly in the quintessentially German, Diminished and Harmonic Minor-scale noodlings of Ulrich Roth and Rudolf Schenker. But it must also be pointed out that Klaus Meine's singing is on a very different level from Bon Scott's; Scott was more of a conversational screecher, whilst Klaus can pretty much do it all in the Rock Vocal department. He's simply more flexible and operatic (again, in the good way).
Just the song Sails of Charon is worth the measly amount of money you'd pay for this online. We'll Burn the Sky is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard; it truly a moving piece. Almost all of the other songs are very good...I have decided to not pick around at any particular song (or part of song) which I don't like.
Just take it from me: if you're into UFO, Michael Schenker Group, Yngwie Malmsteen, and ESPECIALLY if you're into the way below standard Scorpions material from the '80's, GET THIS ONE!
Scorpions most overlooked effort.........2005-08-26
.. in my opion atleast. Think about this for a moment, "Taken By Force" is sandwiched between two landmark albums which makes it hard for it to get any credability. "Virgin Killer" is considered by many fans the definative 70's Scorps album while "LoveDrive" is very important historically in the Scorps career in which they embarked on the MTV route.
I will admit this upfront, even though i am a fan, i never liked any of their 80's MTV material too much. It was not that i thought it was bad, it's not, the 80's stuff is quite good actually, but it really never appealed to me the way the 70's material did because it was just too generic and commerical sounding for my taste; simplified riffs and generic stupid lyrics about loving/missing/wanting to be with your "woman" and "rocking out", almost every other song they wrote was about that. The lesson is that greed is a destructive force, it has the ability to completey ruin great bands (look at Metallica), for the Scorpions it meant abandoning creativity and artistic integrity for the almighty dollar, the damage has been done and can not be repaired, now you can hear "Rock You Like A Hurricane" at almost every sporting event around the country.
This album was actauly the swan song for the meaningful and artistic Scorpions, it was the last album with Uli Jon Roth, who i feel was the creative nucleus of the Scorps of the old days. The songs are all pretty diverse; basic hard rock, metal, pyschadelic and beautiful ballads all inhabit this dark, moody work of art. It might throw some for a loop if they are only used to the 80's Scorpions.

Arriving out of Atlanta like high school sophomores who stole mom's car to hit spring break in Daytona Beach, the 3 brothers and 2 others of Family Force 5 deliver their debut, Business Up Front/Party In The Back. Without a doubt the focus here is on the "party", as most of the record is devoted to getting down, chasing girls ("Drama Queen" sounds like it was written by a 14 year old who just got dumped), and driving around with the radio blasting. Not that there's anything wrong with these things, but the band comes off more like Limp Bizkit's smart-ass little brother than a bunch of kids on a tear.
No one would accuse FF5 of over-thinking their music and lyrics--when your album title is a.k.a. a mullet, intellectualism probably isn't your highest priority. Overall, the album seems genetically engineered to appeal to as wide an audience as possible, piled high with 80's synths, rap/rock riffs and shout-along refrains, and name-checking everything from break dancing to Speak & Spells. In the end, trying this hard causes the FF5 to wear out their welcome. It's only when the band drops the catchy chorus on "Kountry Gentleman" or "Love Addict", you may just find yourself speeding down the highway, bobbing your head a little despite your better judgement. --Ben Heege
Album Description
Straight out of the Nu South, Family Force 5 is greazy, beat oriented, righteous Crunk Rock with blistering New Wave guitars and gritty-witty lyrics. Combining Outkast with Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys with the White Stripes, Family Force 5 won two awards-Best Band and Best Live Act-and was nominated for two others at the second annual Atlanta Music Guide Awards in September. Now FF5 redefines the Dirty South with its debut major label album, Business Up Front/Party in the Back.

no business, all party.......2007-04-29
I love this CD! One of the most fun discs I have ever heard. Great to work out to, great to drive to, great for a pick-me-up. I only gave it a 4 because it never goes very deep, though there are a few songs that have a somewhat deeper meaning if you read into them. I hope they make more CD's; they certainly have talent.
You, too, will become addicted!!!.......2007-02-13
I first heard of FF5 while working in a Christian book/music store when I heard "Luv Addict" playing over the sound system. That song just stuck with me and I was hooked, so I bought the CD. WOW!!!!!!! Repeat after me: "I will buy this CD, I will buy this CD!" If you do not buy this CD, you are really missing out. Even as a 36-year old mother of 3, I absolutely love this music. It is so fresh and just good plain fun. And if you are looking for some great music to work out to...look no further! I am a runner and listening to this music has helped me increase my time because it really gets the adrenaline pumping!! Also, I love the messages in "Luv Addict" and "Replace Me". Last night I found myself worshipping God so deeply and dancing so energetically while listening to these songs that today I have the worst sore neck!! Consider yourself warned...you will not be able to sit still while listening to FF5. Inevitably, you will become a headbanger!! I love this band and I love the fact that they are Christians, and also that their music will cross over to anyone who just plain loves great music. Trust me, this CD will appeal to all types of music fans and is an absolute must-buy!!
Get up and dance!.......2007-01-10
If you are looking for a cd to get you outta your chair and moving, this is it. You can't help but blast every song and dance in your seat while you are driving, which tends to cause strange looks from other motorists! If they owned this cd, they would be doing the same thing! FF5 is a great band out of ATL with a Christian background. I first heard them on Sirius channel 67 (Revolution) and had to have the cd. It was worth every penny and I never have to worry about what kind of message the kids are getting from the music.
Great music, fun band.......2007-01-06
This is a CD that everyone in my house loves. I am a 42 year old man who grew up on on AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, etc. My wife loves U2, Third Day, Lifehouse, etc, my 15 year old daughter loves Coldplay, Switchfoot, etc, my younger boys love DCTalk and TobyMac.... but WE ALL LOVE THIS CD!!! It is fun, it is funny, and the music kicks butt. Really. Buy it, you will like it and these guys deserve our support.
Can't help but Dance!.......2006-11-29
This group is one of the most unique, awesome, different bands I've ever heard! If you're tired of the same old depressing music get this CD and I promise you won't be able to stop yourself from dancing!!! And just when I thought they couldn't get any better I find out they're a Christian Band!!! Warning: If listening to this CD in the car exspect getting some wierd looks from people as you rock out driving past! But don't let that stop you! ROCK OUT!!!
