Already been done!.......2006-02-23

First of all don't get me wrong here, I truly enjoyed some of the material on this project but when I saw these guys in Atlanta around 1999 and they were known as 4 Shades of Black, there was another member (KB) who had a very deep voice and a unique sound which added that touch that this album seems to be missing. You see the Boyz II Men and Shai thing has already been done. You must have that extra something within your sound that really sets you apart and they lost that in my opinion. I have done A & R work for several labels and these guys sound d*#n good but they need that other guy back. I saw KB in 2004 @ the Midtown Music Festival in Atlanta and he was currently working on his project and it sounds exactly like what 4Shades could use to make their sound more universal. I would really love to hear all of them together again and show these other groups how its supposed to be done.

I had no idea that this album was on amazon. But all the same I am pleasured to give a review. i went to the same highschool as these boys. This album is truly music. It's somewhat similar to what we're used to hearing from bands like Boyz II Men and Jodeci. But their sound is original, their lyrics are catchy, and they grab your attention. The voices of these individuals are textured and smooth. There's something about their songs that really makes you feel something in your very soul. There's truth and meaning there. These boys should be at the top right now. When I first heard it I was amazed at how natural they sound. These boys are good! The albums been out since 2001 and I never heard one song on the radio! I just don't understand how talent this obvious can be overlooked. But I know one thing. These boys have what it takes to be superstars and above all, some of the greatest. This album is a must have! I guarantee you'll like it. No. You'll love it!

I bought this CD when it was released and have never regretted it. There is so much mediocre R&B that it is sad when a CD of such high quality is virtually ignored. I hope that they get another chance. However in these days of demand for instant success I am not holding out much hope.

Refreshing!.......2002-02-09

I haven't purchased this album yet, but I will tonight. I just got in from an awesome concert featuring James Ingram, Jeffery Osborne & Peebo Bryson. 4Shades was the opening act and they were incredible. The mix of old school (Temptations) and new school (Boyz II Men) was quite refreshing. Evander Holyfield made a wise choice to sign this group on his label. If they continue as they have started, they will go places and make a name for themselves in today's music industry. They are definitely worth listening to.

I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting these fine young men. I heard their music first hand, and had the chance to talk with them. A nicer group of people you couldn't meet, and their music is inspirational. They have a sort of Boyz2Men sound to them, but with a twist of their own. Keep your eyes on these faces, they're definitely going places!!
