Parlet was true, sexy, feminine, funk!!! These three ladies oozed funk while their counterparts, The Brides of Funkenstein, were more conservative. They could convey true "low down funk" with simple lyrics that made little since (as in "Cookie Jar" and "Misunderstanding"). The Brides may have been married to Dr. Funkenstein, but Parlet had his heart!!!

..but could have used Are You Dreaming from the Pleasure Principle lp. Parlet was a dammed funky group of ladies, they just somehow got lost in the shuffle of the growing P-Funk Universe and were often the victims of lack of promotion. The Brides (Clinton's other more rock oriented female troupe got more love). The sound is often billed as straight Disco, but its really not. This is at best 'disco-ish' funk. Ridin' High just flat out jamms, with a fat bass from Donnie Sterling. Wolf Tickets should have been a smash with its JB's -like horn arrangements. My favorite all time Parlet track is on here though and that be No Rump to Bump, which is just booty-stanking fonk. I wish Parlet could be more well known.

Parlet holds there own here.together with the P-Funk Crew the Vocals&Groove go hand&hand like Tofu&a Bun.George Clinton handles the Majority of Production.if Parlet could come back now with what they did back in the day it would be Funky.gotta get the disc I bought this on tape back when it first came out.it's a Jam.

chapter in the p-funk history book no one looks at,re-release the brides first 2 cd's and we'll be straight, first of all parlet was good but never got their respect. the first cut pleasure principle was good features maceo, skeet on his solo was jazzy, and funky, the girls saying da-da-da de de de da da that was infectious, that moves the song along, no romp to bump has a punishing bassline probaly provided by casper, love that jam, help from my friends has a nice synth groove, the girls playful hooks are catchy, wolf tickets is okay, love amnesia has a nice bassline thanks to billy bass, misunderstanding is a overlooked p-funk ballad the lyrics are silly the beat slams,the horny horns, bernie worrell, skeet did a nice job. play me or trade me is too disco but still enjoyable cause of the hooks, huff n puff is the clkosest parlet came to funkadelic, funk until the edge of time has a nice beat the lyrics arte incredible,ridin high is a little disco but stil danceable, the last cut cookie jar was the winner of the cd that is so funky, george clinton does some vocals, that was the funkiest parlet song ever.this is for funkateers who want a female's perpective of the mothership connection-someone e mail george saying we want more she-funk with a little bit of maggot brain, and cosmic slop to go unreleased that is.
