Short but Sweet Funk!!.......2004-04-18

First off this cd is SHORT!! Total time is 35 minutes. I rarely give 5 stars to short cds. Tracks 2 thru 5 are all pretty good and enjoyable but not worth the price of the cd. The key is tracks 1 & 6. The "HOLY GHOST" tracks! These are the definition of funk and are worth the price of the cd!!! Track 6 is a more uptempo and longer version. About 6 minutes. Track 1 is the deep funk version with the killer base part! It's about 4 minutes. The vocals by Larry Dodson are incredible and what true funk singing is all about!

I wasn't sure about this purchase when I first ordered it but "Holy Ghost" hits so hard that I'm totally pleased!! This is
"Divine Funk!"

Beyond Old School. This is the essence of late 70's funk. The title track is the most mainstream cut; however, it serves only as an appertif for what follows. The two versions of Holy Ghost are sheer percussive joy held together with prtotypical starchild Stratocaster work. If it doesn't shake you, a full physical with bloodwork may be in order. Feelin' Alright is an awesome Memphis-Soul take on the standard. Monster seems like a high energy soundtrack to any Quinn Martin action production. Sure, it's a short disc, but it hits all the right chords and truly provides a glimpse of what kept us all so funky back in the day.

While The Length of this Disc Hurts the Music is Pumping from start to finish the title cut and Especially The Funky Jam Holy Ghost that cut alone will rock any Party any Year Period.that is a Gem.The Bar-Kays have always been Tight.always given up the Goods of Funk.

Can't Put This Fire Out.......1998-05-13

Funky horn-driven soul from the masters. This is a short album, but it doesn't disappoint - from the subversive strutting on the title track to the low-down beaten-dog crying on "Mean Mistreater," the Bar-Kays show off their talents at arranging and performing complex orchestrations of party funk. MONEY TALKS tips the scales as probably the best CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER album, CONVICTED is full steam ahead hardcore punk...but all songs a bit similar.this album breaks the shackles of any one dimentional songs...classic release

Old School.......2007-02-07

Having re-discovered my love for old punk/hardcore/thrash I remembered the name Cryptic Slaughter from my younger years. Ordered it on Amazon and when it showed up tossed it in the CD player.
Man oh man Money Talks brought back some great memories.

Cryptic Slaughter is one of the first punk/thrash crossover bands. If you like it fast and hard you will not be dissapointed. No digital effects, no wah wah, no over produced metal. This is raw and as hard as it comes.

Really Good.......2005-11-04

I think this is probably the greatest thrash, well it's more grindcore than thrash, but it's one of my favorite albums. I think it's a little better than D.R.I.'s Dealing With it. I haven't actually heard the CD version of this but I have it on tape, but it's good enough so that I would buy it on CD. The best songs on here are "Money Talks" and "Set Your Own Pace". Theres a bunch more that I like on here but I don't have the case to the cassette, and the names are all scratched off on the tape. I suggest this to anyone who likes D.R.I. and early Agnostic Front.

This four guys from Santa Monica California were the kings of velocity during the decade of the 80 s, before them there were not another band as fast as them on the face of this planet, they become notorius for that particularity wich made them to reach legend status at underground levels, now this band have a cult of followers that still remember the amazing , angry and fast music they recorded, bands like Napalm Death are influenced by Cryptic Slaughter, and now the recent news of reunion have all fans waiting for great new music to be recorded, shall be

This CD was wonderful it had everybody and every type of music I would listen to on this CD.I enjoyed every part of it. the music was on cue with the movie and I would certianly see the movie agin and listen to the CD always.

This is a fun little CD, cool Peter Gabriel cover of "Don't Give Up"... I hate to admit I like this version better than the original but I do. Alannah Myles sounds very good with Michael Sadler.
