Ok for Ol' Schoo' Listeners.......2007-05-29

Good stuff and nostalgic....however, I wish they would have had the extended version of everything (specifically Royal Cash's Radioactive). Oh well...

On a whole, a good list of stuff for the high side 30-somethings to remember their youth!

In some ways, the best of the worst.......2005-06-05

Anyone familiar with my postings knows that I am an absolute HATER of the high-tech drek and computerized synthesizer-banging garbage that flooded the airwaves and dancefloors as well as assaulting eardrums and good taste in the early 80s. But there are a few good tunes here. Royal Cash's "Radio Activity" was to me the best of this genre because as much as I despise synthesized music, this was a clever, catchy, and funky little tune filled with funny catch-phrases (who that-who that-who that trying to be bad) and comedy routines ("I have an electronic stereo..it has dolby noise reduction..." if you remember the tune from 1983-84, I need not say more). Some decent rap from Whodini is on "5 minutes of Funk" and a little bit of good R&b is on Skyy's "Call Me" and "Walking on Sunshine," but as far as "Shackles on My Feet," "Tour De France," etc. ad nauseum...YECCHH!!! They can keep that!

WOW! What a great CD! Bring back the 80's man! This CD has all of the songs from the earily 80's Break Dancing Era. I enjoyed Radioactivity and Tour De France the most. "Let's Jam, Let's Jam Radioactivity" and "Pal la vue misure, Tour De France Tour De France" (smile). I was a 3rd grade break dancing and pop locking when these songs were released back in 1983. Last, "Shackles" by R.J.'s Latest Arrival was the best break dance song ever written. This is the best CD I have ever purchased that has the 3 most popular break dance and pop locking songs from that time period. This is a must buy and I highly recommend this CD because it contains some of the songs and artist who pioneered Rap and Hip Hop with Electronic Beats, Drum machines, and Mixing and Scratching. "Shackles on my feet, won't let me dance, Shackles on my feet won't let me stand, turn up the music that has a nice beat, Turn it up loud and take these shackles off my feet." Can you see me break dancing I am so happy I finally found these song after years of searching for the lost 12 inch records and CDs(smile and jam with me)?

Classic, classic.......2005-08-06

"The Message," "Planet Rock" and "White Lines" all on the same CD. Are you kidding me? That alone makes this disc one for the time capsule. Throw in less-groundbreaking but catchy as all get-out tunes like "Dream Team is in the House," "Let it Whip," "Jam on It," "Joy and Pain," and the hard-to-find "Hey DJ" and you've got a truly superior collection of what the kids these days are calling 'Old School.' If this gets your blood pumping, check out the four-volume "Electric Funk" collection, also available here at Amazon. It goes even deeper in examining the early sounds of hip-hop. You know, back before it totally sucked.

THIS ALBUM IS ALL OF THAT I LIKE THIS WHOLE CD. THIS WHOLE CD IS GREAT I LOVE HEY DJ/BY THE LA DREAM TEAM SUPREME, THE MESSAGE -GRANDMASTER FLASH, I NEED A FREAK-SEXUAL HARASSMENT,JAM ON IT-THE NEUCLEUS. I ENJOY THIS ALBUM IT IS VERY NICELY ARRANGED. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS ALBUM TO ANYONE WHO LIKES OLD SCHOOL HIP HOPAND R&B!!!!
