One of the real GREAT ones.......2006-08-21
Never mind the In The Rain version hick-up. This is surely one of the the GREATEST Sould/Funk albums of all times. Get it, play it to your children so they know what good funky soulful music sounds like.
The album that put the Dramatics on the map but..........2003-07-30
This 1972-released classic album put the Dramatics on the map. The title track, "In The Rain" and "Hot Pants In The Summertime" are naturally considered all-time Soul classics and this CD should be in any serious '70s R&B fan's collection. I gaveit (only) a 3-star rating because the original version of "In The Rain" was omitted in favor of the single version.
Someone got lazy..........2002-08-21
The version of the great "In the Rain" on this album is NOT the full-length album version (almost 5 minutes long) but the single version (about 3 1/2 minutes). It appears someone got lazy in their remastering and just tossed the one from the Greatest Hits on here. It's a shame because this is a great album.
Back to better times.......2000-02-03
When I was a lot younger, I played this vinyl album over and over. One of my all time favorites and just listening to the songs again, especially the soul-stirring "In the Rain" made all of my troubles float away on the chords of some of the most beautiful music ever recorded. This album is one of the greatest blessings of my life!

If you are going to a desert island and can only have one CD, take this one. It is my absolute favorite CD. Every track is dynamite. There isn't a clunker on the whole thing. Very upbeat. Very consistent mood and tone. It's very interesting that the Dramatics never came close to this level before or after this album.
Can't imagine anybody not liking this, but nobody seems to have heard of it.

Pure soul is the best way to describe this album!.......2007-05-03
This is definitely a classic Dramatic's album. Every song on here just about is slammin'. I pretty much have all of their stuff on wax, but i was really glad to have copped this title on compact disc, especially with the original art work being on the front cover. Being from Detroit, i grew up hearing the Dramatics quite frequently on the radio and in the household.
But Baby, I'm For Real...I'm As Real as Real Can Get.......2007-01-07
The title of this album is my theme song. Every time I walk into the room this song is played...actually, it isn't...but in my mind, it is. I love this album. If the only song on this recording was, Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get, I still would've bought it because that's an R&B/Soul classic right there...
What does a crazy white boy know about soul?
Baby, I got soul coming outta my soul.
I love this album. I listen to it all the way through at least twice aweek and I listen to the title track at least once a day. Don't believe me? Ask my wife. One time I put this thang on the CD player and just hit the repeat button. I played it continously for an hour. She came into the study and said very sweetly, "John, sweetie, if you don't play another song in the next few minutes, I'm gonna take the CD out of the player and huck it across the street..."
So, keep it "real" and buy this...you'll be so glad you did...
Well, I gotta go across the street and retrieve my CD. I hope it didn't get hurt any...
A Christmas gift in 1971...Still One of my Favorites.......2006-07-31
I was 14 years old on Christmas Day in 1972 when I received this LP from my sister. I knew the two main hits, "In The Rain" & the title track, but I also heard the songs "Hot Pants in the Summertime" & "Fall in Love Lady Love", on our local soul radio station, KDIA. 7 of the 8 tracks included on this Soul Masterpiece are "10's" in my book. All but the quirky "Gimme Some (Good Soul Music)" get's my highest score. Then again, there is something with the Dramatics that made them a bit "Different" from other soul groups at the time. I can't put my finger on it, but they almost had a "Garage" sound. But, that's my opinion.
If you're a fan of 70's soul music, this is a must have to add to or start your collection.
Also, at the Visitacion Valley Jr. High School talent show in 1973, a band made up of students (the only one that I really knew from the band was Jerome Hawkins) played the song, "Hot Pants in the Summertime" to a roaring crowd of teenagers. What great times those were.
Total Jams old skool.......2004-09-22
Boy I remember when this jam came out in 71. I wore the groves out on that Lp. It still rocks today. Man they dont make them like that anymore. With me it was Temps and the Dramatics all day long. So get back in that chair again, put the head phones on and jam. Out!

Phames Debute.......2005-07-30
This aint bad for it's time!"2000". It's more like an 8 track Demo cause the first track is a Skit. So I can't call this an album more like an EP... Phame sounds promising like he's bound to come with some heat as for this one though it's a lil' on back burner status..."Don't Stop tha Hip Hop", "Just Because They Do", "Calism" and "Watcha See Iz Watcha Get(remix)" stand out the most. He shows love for the Bay Area (415) to be exact.
