This album appears in the footsteps of 2004's The Girl in the Other Room but doesn't sound like a follow-up. Whereas The Girl saw the pianist-singer abandon the Great American Songbook for more personal pastures, From This Moment On sees her working out on standards done in traditional arrangements. Although the tracks here are by the likes of Cole Porter, Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn, and the Gershwins, Krall sounds more at ease than ever before; perhaps digging deep inside on The Girl loosened her up. Backed by the Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra on seven tracks, Krall sings off the big band with ease. On the title track, she keeps up with a galloping bass and explosive brass arrangements and even ventures into scatting toward the end of the song. Her voice has also acquired a wonderfully worn texture in the past few years, and it works wonders on the ballads (just listen to "Isn't This a Lovely Day" and "Little Girl Blue" for instance). When standards are done like this, there's just nothing like 'em. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Album Description

From This Moment On is an 11-song collection that captures the Canadian-born sensation in full swing, in great company, and at the top of her game. It could also be called her strongest, most cohesive release to date. Krall--for the few still unknowing--is the 41-year old sensation whose cool, heavy-lidded vocals and strikingly sensitive piano-playing has helped her transcend barriers of genre to become a popular artist of the first order who has carved herself a permanent position at the top of the jazz charts. In songs, mood, and delivery, From This Moment On reveals Krall's personal ardor for that golden era of song-making, when Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and (especially) Nat "King" Cole were in their prime. It's musical territory that Krall has often explored, but this album was certainly not a case of simply repeating past formulas: Krall's A-team of support--producer Tommy LiPuma, engineer Al Schmitt, and arranger/bandleader John Clayton--were on hand to ensure that inspiration was kept on an edge, unhindered by the studio environment.

You can't go wrong if you purchase this cd. Diana Krall at her best!!!

2 out of 5 stars Cover Artist.......2007-07-19

I listened Diana Krall live in concert tonight. I did not know much about her except that she is regarded as one of the greatest jazz artists of our generation which made me feel rather ignorant as I am a big fan of jazz. She played for an hour and a half tonight and she is obviously a talented musician. However, one thing struck me as odd ... for one of the shining lights of modern jazz, she sang one, ONE, original song. All of the music she played were covers of some of the greatest jazz music ever recorded. What became evident is that this talented woman bears a talent that is only skin deep. The one original song that she sang was horrendous, a lyrical disaster. I cringed each and every time the refrain was repeated. Granted the crowd, purveyors of insipid music one and all, ate it up. Her own music can't all be that bad can it? I walked away with the thought that music, as in fine arts, has simply become a playground for lazy artists to appeal to lazy fans who don't expect any more than rote regurgitation. Diana Krall is a cover artist. What galls me about her fame and fortune is that talent alone didn't make her famous. Is it because she's an attractive woman who can tickle the keys of a piano and sing in a sultry voice? There are multitudes of rock cover bands who get ridiculed for playing songs they didn't write. So, why does this woman get lauded for doing the same thing? Talented yes, but genius? ... to compare her to Cole Porter or Nat King Cole would be sinful.

5 out of 5 stars Diana Krall Excells!.......2007-06-27

Diana has one of the greatest voices in the jazz biz. She plays a great piano, sings as a song bird, and is truly a marvelous performer.
(Cute too.)

Buy this one. If you like jazz, it is a Must in your portfolio/collection.

5 out of 5 stars "From This Moment On" ~ Diana Krall.......2007-06-26

Listening to my CD of Diana Krall, "From This Moment On," is so relaxing.
Diana executes her songs with her strong, yet mellow voice.
The "back-up" band is a great asset to this CD, so between Diana singing and the band playing, you feel like you're "In Concert!"

Everyone HAS to hear it to believe it!

5 out of 5 stars From This Moment On.......2007-06-10

From This Moment On~ Diana Krall is easy listening jazz at its best. Ms Kralls vocal skills are remarkable and she sings these traditional jazz tunes with conviction and fortitude of a grandmaster of jazz. The book-let is beautifull if a bit sparse. The photographs are simply put it amazing and she looks stunning. The production value is right on the money and I like it since it so easy to listen to even for jazz beginners such as myself. Highly recommended indeed and I easily give this album 5 out of 5 stars.

The Look of Love doesn't tamper with Diana Krall's ongoing success, continuing the emphasis on romantic ballads and embracing them with lush string arrangements. At the core, of course, is Krall's voice. She's developing into one of the great torch singers, with an approach that's both direct and subtly nuanced, true to the song and yet deeply personal. There's a combination of restraint and drama here, as Krall ranges from the confident to the wistful, from loss to playful insinuation, as each song requires. "Cry Me a River" is bittersweet triumph, while "Love Letters" and "Maybe You'll Be There" maintain the most tenuous emotional hold, at once fragile and resilient. "Besame Mucho" and "Dancing in the Dark" are sultry romances wafted on light Latin beats. The songs develop their intimacy in the setting of Krall's quartet, which usually includes bassist Christian McBride and drummer Peter Erskine and several fine guitarists, most frequently Russell Malone. They're a superb complement to her voice and piano, and the close communication carries through the depth and sheen added by Claus Ogerman's rich orchestrations. --Stuart Broomer

4 out of 5 stars Vain, but beautiful -- just like love sometimes (3.5 stars).......2007-08-06

Diana Krall's "The Look of Love" is so conventional an album, as far from pushing any musical boundary whatsoever as you can imagine -- and yet it is unmistakably recognizable and even as unique as you can get. Indeed, while until 1999 her albums featured just her trio (vocals, piano, guitar and bass), the follow up "When I Look In Your Eyes" added a half of elegant Johnny Mandel arrangements -- and the result was one perfectly balanced album, still Diana's best as regards standard songs. The mini-evolution continued (boosted by the great commercial success) and the resulting "The Look of Love" became the orchestral antidote to trio albums "Love Scenes" and "All for You".

Critically accepted with almost unanimous cold shoulders, it's a bit vain and indulgent affair, however, for many of us out there it's a favorite good-taste guilty pleasure. Claus Ogerman (Sinatra and Jobim) arrangements are beautiful, just breathtaking are the final parts of "Love Letters" and "Dancing in the Dark", Al Schmitt's sound is once again immaculate and with the standard songs -- either bossa nova's or ballads -- like these you can never go wrong. And beware -- an album like this will never be repeated. This is a once-in-a lifetime stuff. If Krall made "The Look of Love Vol. 2", it would be downright boring. This time, she's forgiven with a smile. Released in the fear-stricken fall of 2001, it will also remain a testimony of what soothing music many North Americans listened to on those days.

5 out of 5 stars Sex Sells...................2007-07-27

It sure does. How many guys have bought this album for the cover? How many guys have bought Carly Simon's "Boys in the Trees" or "Hotcakes" for the same reason? Beats me, but certainly some. On the other hand, nobody ever bought an album of Kirsten Flagstad or Eileen Farrell for the jacket photo, and those two ladies had voices far beyond anything Diana or Carly could ever dream of. Point is....

If you bought this album for the sexy photo, and never listened to it, you REALLY shortchanged yourself. Sex may sell one record, but repeat business has to come from artistic merit; I have all of Diana [and Carly's] records. Carly is sexy, and she can sing; Diana is one of the most beautiful girls on earth, BUT, she's also one of the jazz voices of the ages. The specific songs don't need discussion; their value was settled years ago. Diana was anointed by God to sing this music, and she does it with grace and style that simply have to be heard to be believed.

Buy this for the jacket if you wish, but listen to it. I promise you'll be hooked. Indeed, 'S Wonderful!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Diana's Brazilian Sound.......2007-07-20

About half this album is done in bossa nova rhythm. Diana Krall is clearly comfortable in this idiom. She also echoes back to Julie London. First rate!

Recorded at the historic Olympia Theatre in Paris in November 2001, this is Diana Krall's first live album. Backed by her quicksilver combo of bassist John Clayton, drummer Jeff Hamilton, and guitarist John Pisano (on some tracks), Krall's jazz heritage comes through loud and clear on this program of standards, ballads, and bossa novas. On Peggy Lee's "I Love Being Here with You," Bob Dorough's "Devil May Care," and Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon," Krall's snappy, postbop piano playing shows off her debt to Nat "King" Cole and Jimmy Rowles. Her cool contralto vocals are illuminated by the Orchestre Symphonique Europeen, under the direction of Alan Broadbent, as well as the London Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Claus Ogerman. Krall's deep take on Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" is a great choice for an encore, and the CD concludes with Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" (a studio track from a film called The Guru), with tenor saxophonist Michael Brecker and bassist Christian McBride. This collection only hints at what Diana Krall has to offer in the future.--Eugene Holley Jr.

5 out of 5 stars Diana Krall in Top Form, Classic.......2007-08-04

Dear John: Letters From a Fan in New York City: An Interactive Book Diana Krall, you got me through my ups and downs with style. This is her best CD, in my opinion. I just recently saw her live in concert, and most of the songs (but not all) were in the concert. This is quintessential Diana Krall. A must-have CD for all her fans. Trust me.

5 out of 5 stars If they let me give ten stars................2007-07-30

....this one would get them. I've written a couple of other five star reviews of Diana's records, and talked about the great material, and beautifully seductive voice. I even discussed the [limited] commercial value of sexy album jackets. It's all true.....

....but this trumps it. Diana in the studio is fabulous, but Diana live, connecting with the audience and her band, goes way beyond that. You can feel the magic. Some singers live don't measure up [no names]. Others, like our dear Carly Simon, have to overcome massive stage fright. [Carly has only one live album, great as it is]... I have no idea how much stage fright Diana has [and stage fright is real; been there, done that. I'm lucky that I actually enjoy the feeling]. Some fortunate singers are actually improved by a real audience. Whatever Diana's feelings, she gives the audience [and us] her all. I've not heard Diana in person, but on this recording we can get the electricity of a special experience.

Diana Krall is a treasure in earthen vessel....a beautiful girl, with a voice for the ages. If you're not familiar with her music, I'm sorry. If you only know her studio recordings, you've GOT to hear this.

5 out of 5 stars Diana Krall at her best.......2007-06-20

Hoppin', jazzy live performance -- my favorite Diana Krall CD.

1 out of 5 stars you know that.......2007-04-12

shush shuh shuh shuh sound that new cordoroy pants make? Well that's what Krall sounds like wiht her sibilant "s". Is she singing through false teeth?

5 out of 5 stars Very Enjoyable and that's all that matters..........2007-02-24

For those reviewers trying to compare Diana Krall to people like Sarah Vaughn... forget it!!! She's not Vladamir Horowitz or the Pope either!!! To give her a low rating based on that is absurd.

This is a very very good Jazz band and Diana Krall swings. She plays well and she does an incredible amount with the voice that the maker gave here. The album is very enjoyable to me and it's a good place to start if you want to hear Diana Krall.

Is she great? That question is so subjective and who cares anyway. One reviewer suggested that calling her great was disrespectful to the great Jazz singers. Popular singers like Diana bring attention to Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn and Sinatra etc... People start with Diana and move backward from there... 5 stars from this reviewer!!!

All for You is a tribute to the Nat "King" Cole Trio of the 1940s, when Cole performed as both a singer and a pianist. Krall, like her heroes Lena Horne and Carmen McRae, is also a singer-pianist, and she plays both roles on most of the songs here. She's able to link her singing to her piano playing in sympathetic ways and projects tremendous feeling through both. Like Cole in the '40s, Krall plays with a drummerless trio--here with guitarist Russell Malone and bassist Paul Keller. Their sense of intimate rapport is especially valuable on ballads such as "You Call It Madness" and "I'm Thru with Love," but also allows such uptempo tunes as "Hit That Jive Jack" to swing with surprising lightness. --Geoffrey Himes

5 out of 5 stars A lady you can never get tired of hearing.......2007-07-04

Its so good to hear a musician who doesnt force the music but rather lets it flow, lets it just drift out from within. Beautiful, soft and mellow; this is definatly chill out music. Hard day at work, in need of something to take your mind off the rat race? Just slip this CD into the player and sit back and listen to a wonderful gifted jazz musician.

The magic of Nat King Cole's music sung by the beautiful voice of Diana Krall, a great combination.

5 out of 5 stars Another great album.......2007-01-22

Diana Krall's voice is like no one else's and I love listening to her. She's very talented in her piano playing, of course, but that voice of hers and the songs on her albums --- I've never been disappointed in any of her work.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible singing instrument .......2007-01-01

Most of the songs here are unfamiliar to me. But in every track one hears the remarkable singing voice of Krall. She is one of those singers like Streisand who makes the voice a musical instrument. She moves us in so many subtle ways. And there is something about the quality of her voice, its fullness, its beautiful timbre. She seems also to have such control of what she is doing , and she is always making it interesting with new little riffs here and there. She is the best 'new singer' I have heard in years.
Just a remarkable singer who it is pleasure to hear.

Singer/pianist Diana Krall breaks new ground interpreting modern standards by Tom Waits, Mose Allison, and Joni Mitchell, as well as compositions by herself and new husband, Elvis Costello. Krall's piano-jazz cred comes through loudly and clearly on her Count Basie-styled version of the Bonnie Raitt staple "Love Me Like a Man" (written by folk-bluesman Chris Smither). But it's the collaborations with her spouse that unearth untapped emotional nuances of her velvet voice; many are reminiscent of Bill Evans's moody, impressionistic pieces. The title track, "Narrow Daylight," "Abandoned Masquerade," and "I'm Coming Through" all deal with love and loss. "Departure Bay," a picturesque ode to her hometown of Nanaimo, B.C., proves that this is the start of something big, and that two heads--and hearts--are better than one. --Eugene Holley Jr.

I have been following and enjoying Diana Krall's career since her debut at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Her amazing talent has been stunning and her ability to interpret and re-interpret jazz classics in immensely pleasing to her fans. I always wondered if she was really enjoying her gifts as much as her fans. This album reveals a multidimensional original talent, exploring her talent and finding her creative voice. I loved it the moment I heard a couple of tracks. I hope we hear many more original and collaborative pieces in the future. This seems like an intimate glimpse into the artist and is a gift to us all.

Put this CD on for an evening of great jazz. This is smooth jazz to unwind with filled with intimate feeling and sets a melancholy mood. Diana Krall has a great voice and these songs suit her voice well. A good one to have in your collection if you like to kick your feet up and relax with quiet jazz music.

5 out of 5 stars Modern Jazz, Modern Songs - The very best of Diana Krall.......2007-02-27

In this album Diana moves past the stilted hero-worship and bland retro-staged recreations of years past, and creates her own sound. If your idea of ideal jazz is that which recreates the same arrangements, with the same songs as 1950, then you won't like it.

As a jazz musician and composer there's nothing more stifling than the idea that the genre stopped 40 years ago. Its funny to hear comments like the songs on this new album are just "pop music", when in the golden years of jazz, it *was* popular music! Jazz artists through the decades have always taken the best current songs and made them their own, even in the bop years.

Sure, there's lots of modern jazz that is "smooth" pap, not worthy of the name, but this is the opposite of that trend. For all of the complaints this album has a traditional acoustic jazz combo orchestration and sound, but with an energy and push that is lacking in her other albums.

Years after the '90s, the decade will be remembered for the rise of pianist-vocalist Diana Krall. Simply put, this British Columbian-born artist is one of the most engaging musicians to emerge from the heap of scat-happy singers high on pyrotechnics, but short on poetry. Stamped with the imprimatur of the Nat King Cole trio and blessed by her apprenticeship with the late West Coast piano giant Jimmy Rowles, Krall simply sings songs the way they're supposed to be sung: with devotion to the lyric and with attention to the groove. This CD finds Krall in familiar company with compatriots Russell Malone (on guitar), bassist John Clayton, drummers Lewis Nash and Jeff Hamilton, and vibraphonist (and former Bill Evans associate) Larry Bunker--all supported by Johnny Mandel's svelte string arrangements. Krall and crew take Irving Berlin's chestnut "Let's Face the Music and Dance" and the Sinatra-signatured "I've Got You Under My Skin" south to Brazil via a sexy bossa nova. Malone's lush guitar accompaniment complements Krall's heartfelt delivery on "When I Look in Your Eyes," and Michael Franks's "Popsicle Toes" dances courtesy of Hamilton's drum work. "Devil May Care," "East of the Sun (and West of the Moon)," The Best Thing for You," and the stridish "I Can't Give You Anything but Love" groove with a minimum of waste, while Mandel's simpatico strings steal the show on "I'll String Along with You," "Pick Yourself Up," and "Do It Again." All of which further illuminate the cool fire from this fine gift from North of the Border. --Eugene Holley Jr.

5 out of 5 stars And on the eighth day..............2007-07-27

.....God created Diana Krall. She is beautiful, sexy, wonderful, and has the most absolutely seductive voice I've ever heard. We are fortunate to live at the same time she does...my wife says I have a crush on her...see my Carly Simon reviews...who says a man is restricted to one crush?

Now that I've mentioned Carly...she's sung this same repertoire very, very well, but Carly is really a pop singer branching out. Diana was annointed by God to sing this music, as Rosa Ponselle and Kirsten Flagstad were annointed by Him to sing Opera. Jazz has to be born into a singer...the list of pop, country, and Opera singers who've tried, and failed, is too painful to recite. The great dramatic soprano Eileen Farrell? Sure...there are exceptions to everything...

As to specifics...great album, of great material. Diana always Picks me Up, can Look me in the Eyes & Get Under my Skin, and makes me want to Fall in Love...who wouldn't want to Face the Music and Dance? Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, and the others HAD to have had Diana in mind. Wonderful singer, sublime music, beautiful picture on the cover....this one has it ALL....Enjoy.

Look at my previous review on Diana Krall. Everything is the same and believe me if she has a bomb CD I will be just as honest.

In the path of enormously popular collections of number one singles by Elvis and the Beatles comes this crammed (seconds shy of the 80-minute mark) disc from another pop-culture icon, Diana Ross & the Supremes. 14 Diana Ross/Supremes tracks appear in some of their most vivid sound ever, while the post-Ross Supremes get their due with "Stoned Love." Ross' Hollywood years make for the weakest music here ("Touch Me in the Morning," "Endless Love"), but disco smashes "Upside Down," "I'm Coming Out," and "The Boss" prove as smart, canny, and enduring as Supremes 45s like "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "Reflections." The contemporary, yet already dated, remix of "Hangin' On" at album's end suggests, in fact, that Ross might make one more dance-floor comeback if paired with the right behind-the-scenes team. 5 out of 5 stars great old songs.......2007-08-05

I knew the words to every song without reading them or anticipating, this CD has all the old favorites.

5 out of 5 stars Revisiting the 60's in Style!.......2007-07-12

This music defines my happy days living in Austin, TX while attending The University! The Supreme sounds ROCKED the halls of my Dorm and accompanied me on many of my hiking journeys up and down the Hike and Bike Trail. Diana's soft sexy voice played in the background many dark evenings while my boyfriend (now husband) and I "got busy" in the back seat of his Chevy Convertible up on Lookout Mountain! Good times!

5 out of 5 stars Great songs with a great sound.......2007-05-19

I really enjoyed the song quality on this CD. It has all of my favorite Supreme & Diana hits like - Come See About Me, Touch Me In The Morning & Im Coming Out.

I love Cd's that you can put on and just let play whether at home, in the car, or in the background when company is over.

If you like the Supremes and Diana this is one of the best variety of songs available.

I say give it a try & sing along ... I did.

5 out of 5 stars Diana Ross & the Supremes.......2007-05-15

If you want the best of Diana and The Supremes, this is the cd for you! It has all of the #1's from the group and Diana's solo career during the 70's. It is fantastic!

5 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!!.......2007-05-06

If you love the Diana Ross music, you have to buy this cd!!! this is the best effort to compilate all the Diana's career in only one disc, and the quality of the songs (all they are remastered in stereo) is incredible!! but the best is that all the No. 1 singles from the supremes and Diana's solo single No. 1 hits are in this colection and wooow!! 24 songs !!!!; from the first hits like WHERE DID OUR LOVE GO, BABY LOVE, STOP! IN THE NAME OF LOVE and CAN'T HURRY LOVE to memorable songs like ENDLESS LOVE (with Lionel Richie), DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU GOING TO and UPSIDE DOWN (pure disco), if you think, you can realize that you have songs from the early 60's to the late 80's IN ONLY ONE COMPILATION!!!; THEN I RECOMMEND THIS CD TO EVERYBODY!!

One advertising: some versions of this cd have the inclussion of Diana's song CHAIN REACTION (the latin-american versions like the Mexican and Argentina ones have this song), but the US version doesn't iclude this great song, unfortunately.

4 out of 5 stars Its Definately Inventive.......2007-07-31

I am one of the remaining die hard Ross fans so I buy most whatever I see is new, remixed, or warmed over. I was curious what the Japanese take on club remixes would be. While there is no one track that totally blows me away they consistently kept my interest on songs I have heard hundreds of times. Captain Funk's version of Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where Your Going To?) is a Faux live performance in an early 1980's Punk/New Wave style remix. Sounds bizarre I know but it works. Reminds me of early Blonde. The Boss (which has been remixed dozens of times over the years) sounds fresh and contemporary. No way do I think this will be a hit in the US but if your a Ross/Supremes fan its worth it.

3 out of 5 stars Great Idea That Misses The Mark And WAY OVERPRICED.......2007-07-31

This was a CD I had ordered without the least bit of hesitation, After hearing it I had wished I had had a chance to sample. This is a great idea,
remix one of the most popular bands of all time. However the project comes up short. Grant it that there are a few good tracks, the rest fall short of grabbing the dancefloor. You Can't Hurry Love And I'm Coming are decent dance tracks, the remix of Ain't No Mountain was to say the least DISSAPOINTING. Just a drawn out intro that never really goes anywhere. Oh Well I guess if you're a Supremes Fan you''ll buy this just for the pure novelty of the disc, my advice look for a used price that will save you $10 or $15.

5 out of 5 stars Diana and The Supremes Are Never Leaving !!! .......2007-07-28

I bought this cd because i not only love them, but wanted to hear the mixes which i always buy from other artists. I LOVED them all! I would have to say that if this would've been a US release, I could so see the music company promoting the Remixed album with Stop In The Name Of Love.
First there was Marilyn Monroe Mixes from Japan, Now Diana Ross and Supremes. What next, Elvis Presley !!!

Japan DJ Mixers Know how to make you Dance!!!!

5 out of 5 stars re invented.......2007-07-25

I love these mixes. I have previously bought remixes of Diana's both made in the States and in England but they merely put a revamped beat behind the groove. These Japanese remixes totally change the concept of Diana and the Supremes. The new version Of I'm still waiting is my favourite. Also deeper beats on Upside Down and the Boss have absolute excitement for me. I think we should give credit where it is due. These modern Japanese producers have made the songs sound so new and I can easily imagine them being dropped into a set at nightclubs and dance parties.

1 out of 5 stars NOT EVEN FOR TRUE FANS!.......2007-07-25

the remixes are gawd awful. was hoping for some sort of dance remixes which have heard in clubs. however, the songs on this cd sound as if someone was just tinkering with some electronic equipment and decided that could be called "remixes". this is NOT worth purchasing - trust me. and I am a B I G both diana ross and the supremes fan.

Like a mink draped over mahogany, Diana Krall's luxuriously supple alto adorns the vintage songs of romance and longing found on Love Scenes with a palpable aura of glamour and late-night cool. Her ostensibly effortless command of phrasing and intonation, whether the mood is seduction or a sweet sassiness, further fortifies the opinion that the Canadian vocalist-pianist possesses one of the great female jazz voices to surface in the late 1990s. Augmented by spare but skillful instrumentation from bassist Christian McBride and guitarist Russell Malone, Krall sustains a largely quiet (though hardly sleepy) ambience throughout the CD's 12 selections, from Irving Berlin's "How Deep Is the Ocean (How High Is the Sky)," which she also uses as a showcase for her touch at the keyboard, to Gershwin's "They Can't Take That Away from Me." Her swing is artfully subdued ("All or Nothing at All"), and her wry, expressive approach to "Peel Me a Grape" is pure charm. Yet Krall shines most luminously on languid gems such as "I Don't Stand a Ghost of a Chance with You" and "Garden in the Rain." Anyone in search of an album ideal for watching city lights at 2 a.m. should keep Love Scenes in mind. --Terry Wood

5 out of 5 stars JUST THE GREATEST!.......2006-11-02

Diana Krall is the singer's Singer. Plain and simple. More than this, however, the Lady knows her way around the 88's, and puts together the best vocal and piano work since Jeri Southern. Of course Diana Krall is her own singer, but she brings up memories of the likes of Miss Southern, Julie London, April Stevens, and many other Greats from the past. Many of them are gone; we are SO lucky we have Diana Krall. This CD is among her Finest! If YOU like the Best, buy it and treat yourself to a true Artist in every sense of the word!

4 out of 5 stars Great Krall Interpretations of Love Songs.......2006-06-03

Diana Krall proves why she's such a phenomenal jazz singer on this CD.
Her interpretations of Peel Me A Grape and You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me highlight her smoky, understated, but very attractive voice. The entire CD is outstanding, and gives Krall a chance to further impress jazz music lovers, who have made her one of the most loved jazz singers of our generation.
Love Scenes is a winner Don't miss it!

4 out of 5 stars Love Scenes by Diana Krall .......2005-10-12

Diana Krall's voice is very relaxing. When you listen to this CD, have a drink in your hand, sit back and just breathe. It's even better if you have someone you love to lean against on when you're listening to this. But either way, it's a great CD that I think any jazz or adult contemporary listener would love.

This is truly a spectacular DIANA ROSS collection! Not only does it contain her classic #1 hits as a sensational solo artist. It also features many of the dynamic songs from her RCA years, in additon to a newly released bonus track "What A Diff'rence A Day Makes." PLUS GORGEOUS (and rarely seen) photographs, with an informative essay booklet included!! Personally I have FIVE copies of this album in my collection.

it is wonderful, and I received it so promptly! I very much appreciated it, and sure brought back lots of memories!

5 out of 5 stars The Boss.......2007-03-08

I purchased this CD because I heard the song "The Boss" and it brought
back memories from High School, plus I remembered seeing her on American
Bandstand. I miss that show. All those shows are gone. Can we please
get that on DVD! That song has a message of getting control of your life.
It was a celebration song of victory. She demonstrated that on American
Bandstand. The song "Muscles" was a favorite as well, I had a boyfriend
in H.S. and we have a talent show where all the football players have their shirts off and flexed there muscles off that song. "Just Good Memories!"
