About the Artist
Larry "T-Byrd" Gordon is one of the most accomplished and multi-talented musicians on the contemporary music scene today. His versatile vocal style encompasses all genres of music. Over the years he has become a prolific songwriter, arranger, lyricist, composer, recording artist, producer and engineer. His main instrument is the saxophone but he plays over 27 musical instruments. He possesses a Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degree in Music Education.
Dr. Gordon first received recognition as a songwriter and composer with the release of "People Who Criticize" and "Summertime" on the Mutha's Nature LP performed by the Godfather of Soul, James Brown and the New J.B.'s. This resulted in two (2) major recording contracts with Memphis, TN record labels. His material has received national and international distribution in the United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
Dr. Gordon has been listed in magazines such as Town & Country, "D", Showboats International, Entertainment In Dallas; interviewed on radio (both nationally and abroad) as well as featured on network and cable television talk shows; and travels extensively with his 16-piece orchestra/show band (The Music People Luv Band). Also to his credit, he served as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Brookhaven College; nominated into Who's Who Among Americas Teachers; member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP); a voting member of The Recording Academy; appointed as an alternate to serve on The Recording Academy Craft "Producer of the Year" Committee (Texas Chapter) for the 43rd and 44th Annual Grammy Awards; and actively involved in various community service events.
