Now I Have It! .......2007-01-26
I waited long enough for years to have this album. It's an all-original artist compilation. I just like to share some information about this album specifically the time and the beats per minute of each track:
1. The Hustle - 3:28 (116 bpm)
2. Get Down Tonight - 4:49 (118 bpm)
3. Supernature - 5:57 (126 bpm)
4. Bad Girls - 5:02 (122 bpm)
5. Let's All Chant - 6:18 (126 bpm)
6. This Time Baby - 5:54 (126 bpm)
7. Funky Town - 5:41 (126 bpm)
8. It Only takes A Minute - 3:47 (126 bpm)
9. Shame - 6:31 (132 bpm)
10. Macho Man - 4:52 (138 bpm)
11. Neutron Dance - 4:09 (108 bpm)
12. Flashdance Megamix
A. Flashdance ... What A Feeling - 3:57 (134 bpm)
B. Maniac - 7:27 (155 bpm)
The sound quality is excellent and it plays continuously until Neutron Dance only that it also slows down maybe to give way to Flashdance Megamix which plays separately. Despite the minor flaw like the almost unnoticeable slowdown on D. Summer's Bad Girls. What's noticed most is when the last track plays separately for unknown reasons. Despite the flaws, it's still worth collecting especially for those who would like to reminisce the disco era.
Good Start - Bad Finish to this Disco CD.......2005-03-01
WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT:
I specifically purchased this CD for the hard to find Michael Zager Band's "Let's All Chant". As a disco fan, I already had the big hits such as "The Hustle", "Get Down Tonight" and "Bad Girls" on other CD's. However, I was certainly not disappointed in this CD. The CD certainly lives up to it's title, "Non-Stop Disco Vol. 1", as all songs are mixed together with no stops in between songs. This is a great CD to put on if you are having a disco-themed party and don't want those embarassing pauses between songs. Some of the mixes from one song to the next are flawless including the flow from "Let's All Chant" to "This Time Baby" and from "This Time Baby" to "Funkytown". Also, except for the "Flashdance Megamix", these are all original recordings by the original artists. The CD also lists the beats per minute of each song.
WHAT'S NOT GOOD ABOUT IT:
The first 10 songs on the CD are from the 1975-1980 disco era. However, the last 2 songs do not belong here at all. "Neutron Dance" was a Pointer Sisters meets 80's new wave song and although it might qualify as 80's dance music, it certainly does not qualify as disco. The "Flashdance Megamix" I assume is here because they wanted to do something like the "Pure Disco" series did by taking old disco songs and then adding one new mega-mix of old songs (as in the "Grease Megamix" on Pure Disco). However, "Flashdance" came out 3 years after disco died, and neither song is what I consider to be disco. Also, I do not consider it to be a particularly good mega-mix at that.
OVERALL:
A good disco dance CD with some rare disco gems, just stop before the last 2 tracks, which seem out of place.
