Too Hot to Handle..........2005-09-17

Heatwave invaded the U.S. with this first album. "Boogie Nights" took America by storm! But, they showed us other songs like "Super Soul Sister" and "Lay it on me." "All you do is dial" was my secondary song on this collection, since it demonstrated the talents of the Wilder Brothers. I recommend this disc to anyone seeking good 70's music. And, in closing, where is the "Hot Property" disc by Heatwave? I've been waiting 15 years!!

Great cd if you like the 8o's R n B(i think that what its called)which is a time when artists used their head a bit more.

If you are old enough to remember when the album first came out I don't need to say anything. If this is new to you you are in for a real treat. This is a mixture of great dance music and the prettiest ballads you will ever here. This group was half what's happening now and old school all wrapped in a rare package truly a one of a kind magic that will probably never come around again. TRUST ME YOU BUT THIS ONE AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. (IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO GET THE ALBUM HOT PROPERTY BY HEATWAVE LET US ALL KNOW FOR THAT IS A TRUE GEM)

Sounds Like A Debut.......2004-10-05

Okay,okay now I am a STONE Heatwave fan.I have every studio
album they made and listen to them every chance I get.I have this CD too and here's what I think-this is Heatwave's debut.
It's probably the first time this hard core live band ever stepped into a recording studio and it features several of the
bands classics-the brooding dance-based "Boogie Nights",the
rhythm based funk of "Ain't No Half Steppin'",the unforgettable
sweet soul ballad "Always And Forever" and the chunky title cut.
What's interesting though is how much,on the rest of this
album,Heatwave are trying to copy KC & The Sunshine Band,Brass
Construction,Rufus and other funk and disco groups of the time.
It's not nearly as individual as as brilliant albums such as
'Central Heating' and 'Hot Property' were because Heatwave
downplay their jazzier leanings in favor of simple party music.
And while tunes like the slinky "Lay It On Me" and the mean funk
of "Super Soul Sister" are very good they're not as transcendant
as the sound this band would later develope,and I will point out
I'm highly biased in this opinion too!
And the album closer,the silly "Beat Your Booty" is just
plain embarrassing-the only real Heatwave clinker due to it's
unbelievably stupid lyrics.So I suggest to anyone interested
in Heatwave's music (and you should be) pick up 'Central Heating' first and then go chronologically from their until
1982's 'Current' (that is if you still own a turn table) and get
'Too Hot To Handle' last because it just isn't a complete portrait of Heatwave's dynamic dance-funk hybrid usually is.Not
terrible but not a classic either.

Great album.......2007-05-18

Great album from one of Rocks classic guitarists! Jorma is smokin' on this one... On par with Quah, his first album.

It can't get any better than this!
Best on the CD is the beautiful "Too many years" and
the more bitter "Ice Age". If you're not familiar with Jorma Kaukonen's style, this CD will get you into it.

Odd recording........2001-06-18

It is not so much the material (Ice Age is a classic) that sabotages this recording as it is the guitar work. Normally, Kaukonen is one of the most gifted of acoustic blues guitarists but here he sounds as if he is in need of drug-rehab. His natural warmth and fluidity is lost to some of the coldest and choppiest playing of his recorded career. It was if he hadn't picked up the guitar in ages. Quah and the two Live At Stillwater disc's present Jorma in a much better (and acoustic) light. Give this one a pass...Simon

You will never be disappointed in a Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band CD. I bought this to add to my Chubby collection! "Ain't no party like a Chubby party, cause the Chubby Party don't stop!" The only thing better than a Chubby Carrier cd is to experience them live.

If you love the way Marilyn Monroe sang, then you will surely enjoy this Jayne Mansfield CD "Too Hot Too Handle" Jayne on this album sounds alot like Marilyn By copying her vocal style, on recordings like "Little Things Mean Alot". One of the best voices of the 1950's. Add Jayne to your collection right along side Marilyn Monroe!

From the first track by The Band of Oz to the last track by The Fantastic Shakers, you will find that your feet keep moving. This is a great Shag piece for the dance crowd. It is right in that Shag groove. Yeah Baby!Some of the best performing Beach Music acts are on this CD. The Band of Oz, The Fantastic Shakers, The Catalinas The Breeze, Billy Scott & The Prophets, Part Time Party Time band, The Poor Souls, The Rhythm Brothers, and The Hoilday Band. This is one Beach Music CD that you can put in the player and just hit the repeat button and enjoy. The Rhythm Brothers track of "Hey Little Girl" is a true gem. "Fat Back and Corn Liquor" is another favorite by The Breeze. All in all this CD is very well produced and a great value to boot. I recommend it for any one who is not familiar with Beach Music and also for the real Shagger. Yeah Baby, Shagadelic!
