This soundtrack offers a pretty standard mix of new songs, old chestnuts, and excerpts from the score (here by John Debney). On the new tip, Joss Stone and Patti LaBelle engage in an overheated battle of the divas on CD opener "Stir It Up," a bouncy piece of fluff that sounds more like Aretha Franklin circa "Freeway of Love" than classic soul. Other originals include Barenaked Ladies' "One Little Slip" (this movie's answer to Counting Crows' "Accidentally in Love" from Shrek 2) and the Cheetah Girls' peppy-but-bland cover of "Shake Your Tail Feather." But the real highlights are the songs performed by the movie's vocal cast, which includes Joan Cusack, Garry Marshall, Zach Braff, Steve Zahn, and Amy Sedaris. Their group cover of Elton John and Kiki Dee's "Don¹t Go Breaking My Heart," for instance, sounds as if half of them were drunk in the recording studio (and this is meant as a compliment.) Braff's a cappella version of "We Are the Champions" is smashing and Cusack and Zahn's take on the Spice Girls' "Wannabe" is completely demented. my little one loves Chicken Little.......2007-04-05

My husband bought the Chicken Little movie for our 3 year old (mostly to get us OFF the Cars movie that we all have memorized) and he fell in love with it! He likes to act out the scenes and loves the music. He loves this CD at night when he's going to bed. We all have to dance to One Little Slip (he knows all the words) and then we have to "shake our tail feathers" before he jumps in bed every night! I enjoy the cd too, so it's good for everyone!

My son loved the movie Chicken Little, so we decided to purchase this for him to listen to on his discman. He loves the soundtrack as much as the movie, which made it an awesome investment(especially since the soundtrack has many good singers that aren't too hard on the ears for the adult crowdes either). My son was very happy with this item, and so was I.

I bought the CD to accompany the movie. My four year old watches the movie everyday. When I gave her the CD, after listening to it nightly, she takes it to bed with her everynight where I have to pry it out of her hands after she falls off to sleep. I don't get it, but she does...so it's worth what I paid for it.

Loose Ends had it together with this funky debut! .......2005-03-29

Loose Ends just had it together with this debut! Carl McIntosh had these funky grooves in him as his group from London broke US shores with Hanging on A String. That song still is funky some 2 decades later, its Casio keyboards and sound effects still standing out! But the rest of the album is solid too, like 999 and others. And they had a fine looking female singer---oooohhh did she look so sexy on the album cover! But Carl had some funky grooves, as they continued to get better on the '86 and the even funkier '88 album as well as the '90 album!

A Debut Album to Definately Remember..........2005-03-22

It was probably the end of 1984 when "Hanging On A String" hit the American South like a boll weavil plague, and, before you know it, Loose Ends had become a household name. This album was the group's debut and exposed many of my circumstance and generation to the joys of 80s UK Soul. Though the album lacks the focus of their next two releases, "A Little Spice" features some great dance tunes that nicely bridged late 70s funk/disco with late 80s house/techno. "Dail 999" and "Let's Rock" come to mind. "Tell Me What You Want" picks up where "Hanging On A String" left off, immediately establishing the group's trademark sound on their debut album (most groups take a couple of LPs to pull off such a trick). "Choose Me" is catchy and chic without being too dated. A good buy from the good ole days!!!

The British Side Of 80's Soul.......2005-03-09

For retro style R&B in the 80's you had the Style Council-for the modern style you had Loose Ends.Overall 1983's 'A Little Spice' has a certain quality of early house styles-not disimilar to the SOS Band releases of the same vintage (I'll bet they heard the work of Jam & Lewis before recording this) and produced an album with stripped back keyboards,the occasional smooth sax chart and alot of LINN drums.The best songs here are easily "Hangin' On A String (Contemplating)" and the Michael Jackson-like dance track "Dial 999",both of whitch sport very strong,catchy hooks and great vocal harmonies.As for my personal favorites they would be the softly jazzy "Choose Me" and the polished R&B mambo of the title track,a very lyrical instrumental with a lovely spanish guitar lead.Overall Loose Ends have a very polished sound but favor a more artful and complex approch to music making then alot of others.Bands like Sade would soon make a killing from territory first explored by Loose Ends-the sensuasly chilly smooth jazz backdrop with plenty of funky soul layored over the top.So in conclusion 'A Little Spice' features great music all round and is one of the few 80's R&B/pop albums that will actually need to have some time put into it in order to funny get into their sound.And to me that's an affirmative plus.Nothing here is too surface oriented-there's alot boiling under as well.

A Little Spice Goes A Long Way.......2002-04-22

Loose Ends provided some of the best European/British R&B around for the 80's. Their brilliant artistry and sophisticated knack combined pop jazz with richly textured and syntehsized R & B grooves for an overall atmospheric experience.While one could still hear the Western R&B influence Loose Ends had they still possessed their own remarkable and unique flavor. I have yet to hear of another group in the new millennium that comes remotely close to these guys. They were the cream of the crop and still are in my music collection !

Rhythmic Mother Energy in a New Age CD.......2002-06-15

Lot's of New Age CDs are kind of syrupy. Now and Zen has beautiful melodic phrases with the underlying Earth Energy of exotic rhythms of sounds from other cultures. I know a teacher who uses this in her classroom to stimulate creative thinking processes. This CD just takes you away with it's 12 wonderful soundscapes.

Now and Zen: new age/world music at its best.......2002-06-07

One of the best new age/world music albums to come out in years. I like the saxophone, and the saxophone is something you don't hear enough of in new age music.
Each song is constructed with much fore-thought as the rhythms combine and build to a complex, but hypnotic, ethereal groove.
Anyone who enjoys world rhythms with a melodic motif will love this recording.
