Santo domingo pa Brazil..........2006-03-25

Absoultely.."Bachata Rosa" in Portugese. It is amazing to hear JLG sing in Portugese his most famous songs. The songs are more or less the same except made different because they are in Portugese, which is just as beautiful a language if not more so that Spanish. The music is even improved in spots, for example one of my fav all time JLG songs "La bilirubina" has a little more African flavor and extended parts in the middle of the song. Bachata Rosa in spanish is one of the best albums of all time, in Portugese it's even more of a gem and if JLG did this on more of his albums, wow! Too bad this goes for damn near $40~!! I'm kicking myself in the ass cuz I had and re sold it thinking i'll be able to get it ANYTIME!! Not the case and I'm kicking myself! A must have album for any fan of JLG and Latin music in general. Puts to shame all these so called "Latin" artist who think the music they are making is somehow "revolutionary." Yeah right, they are really a bunch of payasos! You know who you are, Shakira, Daddy Yankee, J Lo
OOPS did I mention names?? They are not the only ones the list goes on and on and on. Take a cue from the genius of El Malecon!!

Track 1, Big Coconut, gives a bit of insight into singer/songwriter Gene Mitchell's musical background and how he came to combine country, blues, rock and roll, calypso and motown into a delightful style all his own. The end result, if you like the laid back tropical lifestyle, you are a Big Coconut. Features wonderful steel drum playing by Gary Gibson. A fun sing-a-long song. Track 2, The Sun And The Wind, reagge song about the opening day of boating season with all the boats, picnics, swimming and food on the grill. Track 3, How About Sunday, is a wonderful upbeat jazz love song and features Rick Miller on trumpet and Gary on marimba. Track 4, Jamaican Me Crazy, is very upbeat and fun and describes a day on the beach in Jamaica, rum, sun, reagge music and a pretty girl. Full of wonderful vocals, guitar and steel drums. A must for lovers of tropical music. Track 5, Holding You Close To Me, is a medium tempo smooth jazz love song and features Gary on marimba. Track 6, Two Hearts On One Breeze, slows the CD down a bit for a beautiful love ballad and features an soft but incredible steel drum solo at the end. Track 7, Out Past The Reef, is an upbeat love song about sailing and counting the stars on deck with a glass of wine to set the mood. Very delightful song featuring steel drums and several guitar arrangements. Track 8, Tide I Ride, is nautical themed with a bit of Floyd Cramer piano style played by Gary. Track 9, Swimming Pool, parents, teachers and kids love this song. Upbeat song about dragging Dad out of bed to watch the kids swim and about the responsibilities we have as parents. Marimba by Gary and harmonica by Gene highlight this song along with wonderful special lyrics. Track 10, Caledonia, is upbeat and the lyrics tell the story of a day on the French island of Caledonia in the South Pacific. Street dancing and romance highlight the lyrics along with wonderful steel drum arrangements by Gary. Track 11, Yesterday's Tomorrow Is Today, in a fast Mexican style with Rick blazing on the trumpet, gets them on the dance floor everytime. Track 12, Mind On The Islands, is the perfect song to end the CD. Dreams of a much needed vacation and romance in the Florida Keys will make this song a staple of the Key West scene and vacationers to the Keys.

I had the pleasure of hearing this CD back into 1998, shortly after it was distributed. Anyone who has heard this album can understand why I've listened to it frequently since then. "Yesterday's Tomorrow is Today" is a personal favorite of mine. Gene shows his upbeat personality and positive outlook on life throughout these songs and makes those characteristics highly contagious to his audience.

This CD offers some of Jeanette Macdonald and Nelson Eddy's most beloved songs from their movies. Their natural chemistry is apparent in songs like "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" and their individual talents are shown in the solos that they sing. These two legendary performers draw the audience into their songs and each is a special memory of the movie that it came from. Macdonald and Eddy were made to sing together. It is surprising that they were not sweethearts off screen after hearing their voices and seeing their movies. Their passion and tenderness towards each other is something out of a fairy tale. This CD has all the fun, romance, and innocence that was epitomized in their movies. It is a true treasure and a favorite in my music library.

Album Description

Histeriha is the most exciting of Celines' albums, it is certainly a beautiful mix of merengue, pop and tropical beats that will get anyone dancing. It also is her most successful CD to date. This is a construtive comment:
The album is not that great it seem, some of the merengue songs dont have the power of the music. Its like merengue without the feelling. There only one good song, the balad version wich she make the video with the model Julian Gill. For the future please be sure to select good songs to her next album. She still a good singer a a great person. I hope she do it better next time.. Keep Going CELINES...

"La flor del merengue" is back with her new baby called"Histheria",a dancy prodducion that all merengue collector have to get it.The merengues are mix of romantisim and bomba that give Celines a unique style.With her new look Celines will be the next merenguera #1 in Puerto Rico cuz she is real to herself.But people ya guyz have to really listen to the lyrics they are amazing and sometime you can even cry.The cd have 5 merengues,a bolero,a dance song,4 ballads and one bachata.I recommend the cd for all good tropical muscic listener....
