BENY MORE- "LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR".......2001-07-02

BMG/RCA ARIOLA DE MEXICO has put together a great compilation of Beny More's Mexican tour (1945-1952) and also included some of his RCA Havana recorded sessions with his own band and that of Ernesto Duarte. It is great that "occasionally shelved" hit songs like "Las Posadas", "La Maricutana" and "Loca Pasion, by Beny with Mariano Merceron Orch. were included in this compilation. Although more of these rare sessions with Merceron should've been included, this is a "handy to have" compilation, 40 songs especially for those who are just getting to know "El Barbaro del Ritmo", Beny More and above all, the price is right!

Volvere Junto a Laura.......2007-08-06

Laura Pausini is one of the best Latin Music singers of this day. An Italian, Laura has broken Latin Music's Pop en Espanol charts time after time and continues to deliver comtemporary pop to her fans. Her strong sweet voice commands attention and yet her intonation is truly music to the ears. Whether you understand spanish or not, you will understand Laura Pausini's music through her melody and emotion.

Well Laura has finally released a Greatest Hits. Sadly for me her early hits have some unneccesary arragments. Specially GENTE is ruin. SE FUE, AMORES and SOLEDAD, should remain original!, why do they change it, I'm really upset. But the rest of the tracks happily remain in their original version. It's utterly neccesary to mention to say Laura Pausini is one of the vocaly gifted woman of the earth. This is a worth to own album....*****FIVE STARS to Pausini talents, *ONE STAR to the new arragment to the original early cuts.

LA MEJOR DISCO QUE TENGO.......2004-06-12

I first listened to a song from this C.D. in a coffee shop in Spain. It was track 4 "son amores." After listening to this song I immediatly asked the worker in the coffee shop who it was by. I then bought the mejores C.D. and I love every single sony on the C.D. The words are beautiful, the beat in the songs are awesome, and now I am going to buy the rest of the CD's. This is definitely the best C.D. that I own, and the first C.D. I have ever bought that I like every single song on. I would reccommend it to anyone studying Spanish or anyone who speaks Spanish. Me encanta. Ojala venga a los EEUU para hacer un concierto!

I have heard many songs by Laura before, and have always loved her voice. She reminds me a lot of Rocio Jurado...the two of them have an opera-like voice, but sweeter and softer vocals. I had never owned a Laura CD, but "Volveré Junto a ti" along with "Entre tu y Mil Mares", "Escucha tu Corazón" and her voice is more than enough reasons to own this CD. Currently 3 people in my household have this CD!!! God bless you Laura and thank you for your beautiful and mesmerizing voice. Viva Laura.

Dámaso Pérez Prado, un genio de la música tropical.......2006-11-17

Muchas personas que gustan de esta música son latinos, para ellos quiero dar mi opinión en español sobre esta recopilación de 40 canciones del incomparable maestro Dámaso Pérez Prado, en dos CDs de gran calidad sonora con versiones originales de todos los temas. Yo no soy más que un aficionado a la buena música y como tal simplemente puedo decirles que esta colección de temas es formidable. Obviamente, faltan algunas piezas importantes en la discografía de este músico, pero, para quienes gustan de coleccionar buenas muestras de la producción de artistas tan históricos como Pérez Prado, este doble CD es producto ideal. Demás está comentar los temas que figuran en esta colección porque la mayoría de ellos son muy conocidos y muy queridos, pero hay algunas interpretaciones que da ganas de escuchar una y otra vez como «Cerezo Rosa», «Skokiaan», «Norma, la de Guadalajara», «María Bonita» e «Historia de un amor», entre otras. Recomiendo este producto y concuerdo con uno de los amigos que ha opinado antes que este disco es muy digno del precio que cuesta y es una recopilación obligada en una buena colección de música tropical. Pedro Vargas has a wonderful voice and sings with great feeling. He sings equally well ballads, boleros, rancheras, and songs with Cuban rhythms. Who else can sing duets with Benny More and his orchestra (Perdon and Obsecion) and rancheras with Miguel Aceves Mejia? Incredible! There are two CDs called "Lo mejor de lo mejor" for Pedro Vargas; this one and one produced in 1999. Both are excellent and only a few songs overlap, so if you love his voice, buy both of them! This one (2001) has better liner notes: it lists the composers, the orchestras or bands that accompany him, and the other singers in duets. The 1999 CD has no liner notes.

PEDRO VARGAS- "LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR".......2001-07-06

This is a good compilation by "El Tenor De Las Americas", which features some often shelved Vargas'recordings, such as "Granada", rarely re-issued on any format, "Noches de Mazatlan","Pecado","La Ultima Noche","Adios","Lamento Borincano", etc. Even though a great deal if its contents is re-hashed material from other recent CD's, in my opinion, the price is still right, you get 40 songs for ... which isn't bad....

This set contains some of the best latin music I've ever heard. Repeated listening just makes one marvel at the play of the voices and guitar. I grew up in L.A. listening to some of these songs and Los Tres Ases does them better than anyone else. The sound is soft but deep, and somewhat idiosyncratic. What a pity that they broke up not long after the latest songs on the disk. Check out Sabor a Mi, Historia de un Amor, and Mi Unica Verdad. Haunting and lovely. A real masterpiece.

A good combination of slow songs as well as some fast ones.Was a change I admit the fast ones they were versatile.Songs such as lo dudo,estoy perdido,la puerta,cien mujeres to name a few are great.This is a good collection by rca label or bmg.Buy this you will be happy you did.If you liked Luis Miguels"romance cd's,then go buy this.Cause these are the guys he probably heard the original versions from or other trios in that time frame.The 50's and 60's.I'm just a lover of good music be it spanish or english.

Spanish crooner Miguel Bosè mixes reflective, aloof, and moody tones in this compilation of old and new material. Bos&eagrave; seems at his best on the meditative "Este Mundo Va" and "Muro," songs that mix meandering melodies while his thickly Castilian-accented vocals inject melancholy sentiment. But he can also unload dance-flavored rock energy like the reggae-flavored "Solo Pienso en Ti" and "Los Chicos No Lloran." Other bright spots include the Elvis Costello-Talking Heads-like dance-pop confection "Bambu," while "Partisano" recalls A Flock of Seagulls without the shrill desperation. Miguel Bose has been around the block. He's put out some great music and this compilation album does a great job at summarizing the best of his works. Besides his classics, he included in here two '99 versions of his well known works "Amante Bandido" and "Nena", with new arrangements that turned them on their heads into full fledge dance songs. There is no weak spot on this album. It's a well rounded compilation from end to end, highlighting the work of one of Spain's greatest pop artists ever.

Hace 20 anos que oigo a Miguel Bose. Algunos temas de este CD son de su viejo repertorio pero da gusto oirlos. Si nunca compraste un CD de Miguel Bose este es el CD! Tiene todo! Lamentablemente no han incluido un "sample" de "Solo Pienso en TI". Ese es su ritmo! La musica no es todo en Miguel Bose, las letras de sus canciones tienen un algo de sarcastico, un poco de humor... Y ademas su voz es TAN sensual...
Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, Luis Miguel... todos ellos aprendieron de Miguel Bose a moverse... y todavia le imitan el estilo!! Por favor! que alguien haga justicia a este artista!!

I heard a track from this album by sheer chance and I was immediately hooked. I'd never even heard of Bose before but I ran right out and bought this album. I was not disappointed. I don't speak more than abut 10 words of Spanish but it didn't matter. The melodies and his voice are enough for you to catch on to what the song is about. His voice reminds me of a Spanish Roger Whittaker. It's smooth and rich but raw when called for. My favorite tracks are #4 Hacer por hacer and #15 Partisano.

I liked Jose Manuel Figueroa's "Mala Hierba" CD so much, for which Joan wrote all the songs, that I bought this...well, better late than never, and it turns out that Jose is Joan's son !

His voice is wonderful, it has a beautiful gentleness to it, and the songs are so melodic and uplifting. And the lyrics are sensational ! This is new music to my ears, and I'm not sure how to classify it. Some of it has a "border" sound, a dash of Country, and some gorgeous baladas. I'll just put it in the "I love it" category. It's a CD that gets better with each hearing, and you can listen to it repeatedly...it has an infectious joy, written and sung by a true artist.

It includes 2 duets, one with Lisa Lopez, "Rumores", another with Prisma, "Oiga". My favorites are "Veinticinco Rosas", "Juliantla", "Amor Desesperado", "Alma de Niña"...but how can I leave out "No le Tengas Compasion" with its superb lyrics ! Impossible to choose...all 15 tracks are great. The jewel case doesn't have a booklet, but does have a good cover photo, and song list on the back.

Reading Joan's biography on his official web site, his early hardships are heartbreaking, but a great inspiration for other struggling artists. Thank goodness he had the faith and fortitude to keep on keeping on...and to bring the world this marvelous music.
