The highly organized and former Tejano outfit La Mafia continues its musical evolution toward romantic ballad merchants. Veterans of the Tejano scene, they're not content to stay within the stylistically limited genre. Starting in 1991 with the CD Estás Tocando Fuego, the Houston band has steadily reduced their earthy polkas in favor of keyboard-driven pop ballads, with mixed success. High points here include the echoey "Pido," driven by its thumpy piano chords, and "Ayer y Hoy," a rhythmic cumbia. Producer Mando Lichtenberger Jr. seems to have found the right balance of guitars and keyboards. But beyond the aforementioned tunes, the rest of the CD is nonimpacting material. The band needs solid melodic hits to complement their already superior organizational skills. --Ramiro Burr

The peak of Fito's career..........2006-01-27

It is fair to say this was the last great work by Fito Paez. After this album, except for glimpses of innovation in "Naturaleza Sangre" he started repeating himself. In this production, he combines his brilliance composing, singing and playing the piano with his band and a group of classical musicians, that bring an exquisite new edge to some of his classics.

The new arrangements are different but work very well, breathing new and refreshing life into his best works. There are a couple of new tracks to complement what constitutes a well rounded (live) compilation of Fito's best songs, played acoustically with a string section backing the band. Ultimately, the album works out and ends up being a must-buy for any serious fan of Rock en Español.

Este disco es uno de los tres mejores conciertos acústicos que he escuchado hasta hoy, -incluyendo musica en español, inglés o portugués-. Los arreglos son exquisitos, elementos de música clásica, de trio de jazz, la intimidad del piano, y la dulce violencia del rock. Perfecto.

Excelente "unplugged" de Fito.......2003-05-27

Tomado de un concierto "unplugged" de Fito, este disco contiene una excelente colección de temas, incluyendo algunas nuevas canciones. Además de ser algunas de las más extraordinarias composiciones de Páez, los arreglos y la orquestación realizados para este CD las elevan a un grado superior. Entre las versiones de los conocidos temas destacan "11 y 6", "El chico de la tapa", "Mariposa teknicolor", "Un vestido y un amor" y "Ciudad de pobres corazones" (dónde quedó "Giros"? no la incluyeron!).

En cuanto a los temas nuevos, se trata de "Cadáver exquisito" (una de las mejores composiciones del maestro), "Dar es dar" y "Tus regalos deberían de llegar".

El libro del CD incluye breves comentarios de Fito sobre cómo compuso cada tema, en qué época de su vida se encontraba, qué aspectos rodearon la creación de cada uno y en quién o en qué se inspiró para escribirlos.

Euforia is nothing compared to " Limite".......2006-06-30

I purchased this CD thinking it would be the same or similar to " Limite " but the truth is that it doesn't sound the same, as much as they try they can't be even near as good as they were with Alicia. The distinguished voice of Alicia Villarreal is what made them " Limite ", in the other hand you should buy Alicia's new CD 'cause it's really good.

I really like this CD. I was a Limite fan, and I like Euforia a lot. I like the male voice more tho.
If you liked Limite, then you will love Eufora. This band's sound is just great. I love it. The song I like the most is "Lo siento por ti" Track #3. I agree that Alicia's voice is better than the new girl's one. But the music is just great, its a must have.

Not as great as Limite.......2004-05-05

I am a Limite fan and I was so looking forward to this cd, but was very disapointed when I got it.
I enjoyed the song mentirosa, but the rest of the songs were ok. I really did not like the song "limite", Alicia did a much better job with this song live in concert.
The cd is ok, but it is not as great as the Limite cds. It is just not the same without Alicia as the lead singer.
This is just my opinion, my friend actually loves this cd.

Mafia fan all the way! La Mafia RULES!!!.......1999-07-31

Hey Carlin, what's up? Well people, what can I say? This album says it all. It would be so much better if you could hear ALL the song, but one takes what one gets. I think this is one of their best yet. Although I've heard a sample of their up-coming album and I'm already itching to buy it. I think who ever buys this cd is in for a treat. Unfortunately, only those who are in-love or have ever been truly in-love, will ever get the true meaning and depth of these songs. But even so, it's still wonderful and anybody and everybody can enjoy it. The music alone sets you free, and those amazing voices take you to new levels of happiness. I truly recomend this album and ALL the other La Mafia albums. You will enjoy hearing the changes as the years went by. See ya at the next Mafia concert Carlin!!! Yay! La Mafia rules!!!
