This is Maria Bethania's best live album.Recorded during the 2001 Maricotinha tour ,it features hits such as Negue and Coracao Ateu as well as Brazilian classics such as Fotografia and Apesar de Voce.Bethania's talent at reciting is showcased in poems such as Fernando pessoa's Poema do Menino Jesus which warrants an ovation.A definite winner whether you are a fan or not.

Bethania's recording of the tour supporting the 1993 multiplatinum "AS CANCOES QUE VOCE FEZ PRA MIM" is a gem for posterity.Boasting most of the hits of the original album,FERA FERIDA,COSTUMES,DETALHES and the title track,it also features Bethania's superb renditions of old hits such as Paulo Vanzolini's RONDA,Gonzaguinha's EXPLODE CORACAO and Milton Nascimento's FE CEGA,FACA AMOLADA.Dillingently,she performs songs such as Chico Buarque's TODO O SENTIMENTO e Joao de Barro's MANE FOGUETEIRO giving them a twist far more romantic than the originals.But again,isn't that what she is all about...passion and romance.?

Released two years after her romantic and a little bit cheesy album "As canções que você fez pra mim", which covered Roberto Carlos' repertoire, "Ao vivo" sounds so much greater! Here she is much more passionate, powerful and compelling! As I always say, to know deeply Bethânia, it is just essential to listen her live. In "Ao vivo" she sings, among many others, several songs from the Roberto Carlos album, and most of them, especially "Fera ferida", "Costumes" and "Você não sabe" become much more touching, just wonderful. Chico Buarque's "Mar e Lua" is also thrilling, the best cover of this song I've ever heard. Other very nice tunes include Caetano Veloso's samba "Tudo de novo" and the ballads "Lua" and "Todo o sentimento". Highly recommended.
