I LOVE REAL HIP-HOP!, This cd was alright but not that good..

But what i got was four cd's with a combined total of four songs that i listen to. rhymes are not that good, there a 3 out of like 5 and a half.
I will stick to my stuff, word up krumb snatcha, O.C. Words-worth, AZ,

i'm not going to write a massive long explanation of this cd, cuz if your checking this cd, you've already heard of, and heard celph titled on more than one occasion....

all i have to say is this... your stUPID if you don't get it...

peace,

4 out of 5 stars Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.......2007-05-07

I think this Hip Hop collection slams and jams at the same time, great beats, awesome lyrical content, alot of great metaphors and gun talk-also funny. Any hip hop fan should own this 4(yes you heard right 4) CD collection. Celph, Apathy, the Demigodz all show out on this collabo-Sorry Nas-HIP HOP is on the respirator.

3 out of 5 stars Didnt bring as much CHAOS as i expected or hoped!!.......2007-03-21

Celph Titled is an amazing lyricist that absolutely enhances every track he spits on. He becomes the spotlight even when he's guest appearing on tracks for other artists. However after 75 tracks of the same battle rap, gun laced metaphors I found it very repetitive. So many tracks were like listening to the same joints over and over again. Also so many of the other artists on the tracks with him are so inferior that they ruin alotta the tracks completly. Also the production was very similar on too many joints. I would've preferred alot more Celph solo tracks (out of 75 I dont think thats too much to ask for) and for abit of diversity in the subject matter. However after all that being said, there's so much here that EVERYBODY is bound to like alot of the tracks they hear. Ive actually put together my own Celph Titled 14 track album from this onto my ipod and its 1 of the best albums in my entire collection. His metaphors and flows are some of the tightest+laugh out loud inducing on the planet. I'd say his official solo long player will be off the meter.

3 out of 5 stars 75 Tracks of Rhyming Couplets About Gats.......2007-02-22

I've always appreciated Celph Titled when I've heard him featured on Jedi Mind Tricks and Outerspace tracks, so I was curious when he dropped an epic 4 disc set. To his credit, Celph is consistent throughout the album: his usual musing, almost incredulous delivery, and stacks of multi-syllabic rhyming couplets. If that's your thing, then cop the album and you won't be disappointed. Personally, though, I found that much virtually identical material mind-numbingly boring: 12 tracks would have sufficed; 75 comes across as self-righteous.

The lowdown: For what it is (hours upon hours of Celph Titled doing his thing with the usual cast of co-stars), the collection is surprisingly consistent - for my money, anything that consistent for that long, though, is straight up boring. Celph's rhyme scheme is clever, but his content leaves a whole lot to be desired.

5 out of 5 stars must have collection.......2006-04-26

Bobby Brown once upon a time was a happening cat. too bad it seems like a lifetime ago because these cuts are still Slamming.Bobby should still be making records as to being seen as a Artist past his time. all the Big time cuts are on here.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful collection! .......2006-04-04

This is far better than Greatest Hits that came out on MCA in 2000! They dug deeper to find Bobby Brown's best songs. Yes, the album songs, but his songs with New Edition, Glenn Medieros (where is he now?), Ja Rule and Whitney Houston. His duet with Whitney, 1992's Something in Common is very funky and probably might have encouraged Whitney to get out of big ballad hell a little bit for her 1998 album. The Glenn Medieros dance heavy song has more meat when Bobby hits his raps in the middle. Bobby's own hits of Don't Be Cruel, Prerogative, On Our Own, Get Away, Humpin Around, That's the Way Love Is, Feelin' Inside, Roni, Rock'Wit Cha and others still hold up today with their funky grooves and smooth feels. Even Bobby sounds strong on Ja Rule's song, a smart mix of Ja's macho rapping and Bobby's superb singing in the same song. It matches quite well with Bobby's bad boy image. I'd rather hear Bobby's music than his troubles with the law. He's currently recording a new album and I can't wait to hear how that sounds! I think he's hungry to get back out there while we listen to this wonderful collection of hits. It took a reality show to get his name back out there, but it will take his music to get Bobby Brown back on top again!

5 out of 5 stars Great Artist Gone Bad.......2006-03-20

There is no doubt that Bobby Brown is a great artist, but unfortunately he may be remembered as Mr Houston that got troubles to stay away from drugs rather then the lead singer of New Edition and a hit machine in the late 80's/early 90's but back then Bobby Brown was a great artist of his own, he was part of the new jack swing in the late 80's early 90's that mixed R&B/rap/hip hop and synth funk and scored loads of pop hits, from around 1988 to 1992 Bobby was frequently on the charts. This collection resembles the one given out a few years ago called " Bobby Brown's Greatest Hits", althought it also includes some songs from his New Edition time like (Mr Telephone Man) and some newer less popular songs like (Thug Lovin with Ja Rule) But other then that it's pretty much the same, the top hits like "Don't Be Cruel, "My Prerogative" "Every Little Step" "Roni" and "Rock With Cha" "She Ain't Worth It"(With Glenn Medeiros) and "Good Enough" all appear here. The only song I'm missing out is the excellent song "Two Can Play That Game", but it didn't appear on the other collection either. If you don't have the other one and want to rememer that greatness of Bobby back in the day, get this collection cause it's full of great pop/R&b songs and it will help you discover that he was actually a very great artist on his own once upon a time.

Even if Bobby is a little (maybe a lot) nuts, he is undeniably talented and his music is great.
This is a good cd with all the hits. It starts off with a new edition of Mr Telephone Man and there is all the cool, tight songs you know. There is Don't Be Cruel, Rock Wit'cha, Roni and My Perogative to name a few. I love having all these great cuts on one disc so I highly recommend this to all Bobby fans. It's a good collection.

4 out of 5 stars a snack before Dinner and movie..........2007-05-30

this was a cool release for me. i'm all into the new track especially "just me". i wish "rest in piss" and "walking to my funeral" were on there. those are some classics for me. but i will be jamming this one until the next one drop.

5 out of 5 stars ...coming from a Lynch head.......2007-05-30

If you didn't know, this is basically a Lynch Hits album. (Read the Product Description) If you're a fan of Lynch you know the songs. The three new traccs are real nice, especially "Goodnight". It sounds like an appetizer for "Dinner & a Movie". Not much else to say, just classic Lynch mixed with 3 new dope traccs. All the traccs are handpicked by Lynch, unlike "The Best of Lynch" which was put out by Black Market back in 2001.

And how about this...not a single cut from Season of da Siccness made it onto the Ripgut. Maybe Lynch figured we'd heard it enough already.

There really isn't a whole lot of good material on the DVD. The best part is a really well done music video for "Went From". It's the first music video from Lynch that I really thought they did a good job with.

Classic Lynch from "Nigga Deep" to "Lynch By Inch", some new songs thrown in, and a bonus disc. Gotta give the 5 stars on this one.

4 out of 5 stars Disagree with Trance Dancer.......2005-09-27

While I agree with Trance Dancer that "The Beginning" is a definite buy, I really liked the Ultimate Reggaeton Collection. I do not think you can go wrong buying either one. They both have very good content, just different songs, different styles and different Artists. Isn't that what compilations are all about.

4 out of 5 stars Good, but Not The Ultimate .......2005-09-26

This package has some nice tunes, but it is not a value priced package. I went through the Machete Music catalogue, and they have a really good value priced CD/DVD package (which I really like and have previously reviewed) entitled "The Beginning". (Also available at Amazozn). The majority of packages coming out of Machete are strictly Puerto Rican Artists (Puerto Rico has some great Artists), but they ignore all the Artists that actually created Reggaeton. The Beginning package includes tracks from all regions including Puerto Rico with original hits. As I have also previously said, if you have the bucks buy both, if not, go with "The Beginning" they are both from Machete, so they get the money one way or the other.

This is a good compilation. I originally bought it for the radio version of I Aint Mad At Cha by Tupac, I think I like that version better than the original. All the other songs are pretty good.

Though I do kind of wonder how long of a shelf life this is going to have because it is all remixes and radio versons.

great album if you grew up in late 80s early 90s brings back good memories when you got your first car or graduate out of high school first date these are some of the slow jams you would play in the car.

5 out of 5 stars Attention Class of 1991-1994, this one will take you back!.......2006-11-10

LOVES IT! I popped this CD in and it instantly brought back feelings of nostalgia. I swear the CD stayed in my car CD player and I listened to it over and over again for a week. The music on this CD are R&B classics and definitely a sign of the times. My favorite song is "Feels Good" and it's just as jammin as the time when I first heard it back in 1990. If you've been thinking of taking memory lane back to your high school days, I recommend you buy this CD today...ASAP! And this is coming from a girl who is a total rock chic - go figure!

    5 out of 5 stars UNDERRATED SUPERSTARS.......2006-10-09

I do not own this compilation, because I already own every CD that 3T created. This group, without question, is one of the most underrated musical groups of all time, probably due to the fact that it did not cross over. If it had, though, the music would not have been as true, or as good. I feel sorry for anyone who cannot appreciate this talent.

5 out of 5 stars THE LAST TRUE R&B/FUNK GROUP WHO COULD PLAY LIVE!!!!.......2006-04-16

While, everybody was caught-up with the over hype (IMO) Bell Biv Devoe (BBD) Teddy Riley's New Jack sound, alot of other [...] acts, one hit wonder singers and rappers at that time, that all pretty much came and went, Tony Toni Tone' survived, stood the test of time, simply got better with each album/CD.

3T knew how to flip their sound, style, show true
musicianship, artistic form, originality, in which a lot of
so-called groups, that came out on the scene the same time 3T did, were seriously lacking. Of course, we all know 3T was a real, much more mature group. And, for the rest of the forgotten New Jacks? Simply put, they were no more than: "Studio creations" in which 3T was not and that's what makes them the best group to have emerged out of the late 80's and early mid 90's.

To be honest, 3T were the last true R&B, soul, funk, soft rock, retro ballad group to have come out of this era. These brothers could do it all, and on top of that, they could play instruments, perform live and were pretty DAMN GOOD!!!!

My only complaint with this CD is, I wish they could have added a bonus track, like the remix of "Born Not To Know" with the little intro sample of Fatback's "Backstroke" this version is much better than the original one featured on this CD.
But other than that, the CD is really good with all of their best tracks from the late 80's to the early mid 90's.

3 out of 5 stars not the best available!.......2007-07-09

every true hip hop fan should already have every eric b and rakim album or cd,but for those who don't,this is not the best compilation of their work.three classic songs are missing from this "best of" collection, "move the crowd", "as the rhyme goes on" and most noticeably,"my melody",but any eric b and rakim is better than no eric b and rakim, so for the casual hip hop fan this will suffice. if you want a much more complete complilation, go with eric b and rakim "GOLD", a double cd that contains all the great hits and some not so well known songs as well!

    5 out of 5 stars The R.......2007-02-12

If you are a fan of hip-hop, you need to cop this album, period. Every single line that the R spits is venom. Every song on this album serves as the blueprint for any song in its genre. For example, "I Ain't No Joke" and "Follow the Leader" are the ultimate battle raps, whereas "In the Ghetto" contains the best rap lyrics of all time. Listen to what Rakim is saying in this song; it is surreal. On a scale of 1 to 5, the beats on this album are a 3. Rakim's lyrics are a 5, no quesiton. Again, if you are a fan of rap, you need to study each of these songs. Note: Rakim's songs after Eric B, such as the ones he did with Premier ("When I be on the Mic" and "It's been a long time") are awesome as well.

"Now is the time for us to react,
Take a trip through the mind and when you get back,
Understand your third eye seen all of that,
It ain't where you from it's where you're at."

5 out of 5 stars Stands up after 20 years.......2006-04-11

"Follow the leader" was played over the sound system between acts at the Coldplay concert in Philly last week. I thought "Man, I haven't heard Eric B. and Rakim in years." I immediately went out and bought this disc and haven't stopped listening to it yet. This is really good stuff and should be listened to by anyone who desires a full appreciation of important music of the 80s.

5 out of 5 stars Check out my melody???.......2005-10-06

Ok, I am 33 so these guys are definitely staples from my era. These guys are the orignal dynamic duo. All of their stuff was the best but this album is really missing "My Melody" That would make this album truly complete.

5 out of 5 stars I KNOW YOU GOT SOUL COP THIS .......2005-10-01

Eric B and Rakim are the best the old school has to offer. Most kids today have never heard of their greatness or witnessed any of rakims lyrics. You really cant go wrong with any of the early Eric B and Rakim Albums these guys are one of my favorite old school groups next to Boogie Down Productions of course. This is ten classic songs of material from all of their albums. so if you dont got it get it. WORD

    5 out of 5 stars MURS-9TH DID IT AGAIN!.......2007-05-20

3:16 WAS ONE OF THE MOST LOVELY HIPHOP ALBUMS IVE LISTENED TO IN A WHILE. MURS VOICE IS CRAZZZZZZY. I COULD LISTEN TO MURS RHYME OVER THE RIGHT BEATS FOR DAYS AND 9TH WONDER SUPPLY'S THE PERFECT BEATS FOR MURS. 9TH IS KILLIN IT NOW A DAYS. THE ONLY THING IS THE END OF THE CD HAS U WANTING MORE AND MORE AND MORE. I WISH THE CD DIDNT CUT OFF CAUSE I WAS LOVIN IT. 9TH WONDER HAS MADE MURS NAME ALOT MORE KNOWN IN THE HIPHOP INDUSTRY AND I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT. KEEP UP THE CLASSIC'S YALL CAUSE ILL BE BUYING THEM. PEACEE!

    5 out of 5 stars CLASSIC!!!.......2007-04-15

3:16 OR MURRAY'S REVENGE. I JUST CAN'T DECIDE WHICH ONE I LIKE BETTER. 9TH AND MURS ARE PERFECT TOGETHER. A DEFINITE IMPROVEMENT OVER MURS-SLUG BEATS. MURS ON THE MIC HAS ONE OF THE ILLEST VOICE'S HEARD, COMBINED WITH MAD-DOPE STORY TELLING ABILITY THAN DONT GET OUTSHINED BY THE ILL BEAT HE'S RHYMING OVER. ALOT OF 9TH WONDER ARTISTS GET OUTSHINED BY HIS AMAZING PRODUCTION BUT MURS HOLDS HIS OWN. PEOPLE TRYING TO HATE ON MURS ON THIS SITE, MAYBE CAUSE HE AINT GIVE THEM A AUTOGRAPH OR SOMETHING. MURS PLUS 9TH WONDER = CLASSIC ONCE AGAINNNN!

    3 out of 5 stars Wasn't feeling it....3.5.......2006-11-06

Im a fan of Murs, and the Liv.Leg. Crew, but i ended up just skipping tracks until the album ended, nothing bad about the guy, Murs is off the chain, but i felt like i wasted 10 yucks, for instance the song about white girls acting black, i just couldnt listen....peace to you..

5 out of 5 stars My Second Favorite LP Of All Time.......2006-10-11

This is one of the greatest hip hop albums I've ever listened to. In my opinion, Murs has never sounded so good. His flows are vivid and realistic and the production fitted them to the Tee. I thought every song was extremely dope. I highly recommend this in your collection. I know this review will not make me popular w/many but I have to write it how I honestly feel. Save the negative remarks for someone who cares. I know Murs is not the best MC of all time. I'm not sayin that. He's far from it. I'm sayin this is my 2nd favorite album of all time simply for the overall feelings I get from it every time I put it on. I'm sure if you want some heart-felt/feel-good Hip Hop music this will suit you. Peace

2 out of 5 stars Not that good........2006-10-11

Murs just isn't a good as he thinks he is, at least not on this album, or his last one. At one point on the album he says "...that's why 3:16 was genius". Sorry, but 3:16 was mediocre. Murs sounds better when he's rhyming over Ant's beats alongside Slug. 9th Wonder's production comes off as amateurish when compared to the stuff on the Felt albums. Murs should drop 9th Wonder and get somebody else to produce his albums for him. Get RJD2 or something.
