Spicy variety.......2001-05-22

I've found this series to be very good examples of the sounds that come from Columbia and known generically as tropical. Some of these songs are cumbias, salsa and even in hyper speed with a merenque beat. This particular volume features some great music that is infectuous, irresistible dance music that is upbeat. The stories told in the songs are often comical, rarely sad and always on the upbeat. No time for lamenting. Perfect music for the hot summer days ahead, this is music to forget any trivial worries and get into the groove of the latin beat. All the songs are excelent selections from a variety of artists including Los Tuparamos, Los Coraleros de Majagual, Fruko y Sus Tesos and the Orquestra Emisoras Fuentes amongst many other super musicians. Jazzy at times with puntuating horns and percussion the mix of dance rhythms and smoky vocals is magical. Listen to "La Borachera" and you'll know what I mean. The women who sing are very seductive and their singing conjures images of scantily clad women dancing in the tropics. Bring the exotic locale home and create your own ambience. This is a great collection of songs to add to your disc player for variety that defies the listener to sit still. Even seated one has to move some part of the body, you just can't sit passively and listen, it is music to move[your body]!!! If you like the latin sound of Columbia this is a good one to add to your collection of musica tropical. Happy music for happy people or those wanting to be, this is a winner to be played year after year.
