Customer Reviews:

Maldita Vecindad along with cafe tacuba represents the best of Mexico's rock en español movement. Maldita has a cool style which is a mixture of punk rock with some banda and circus sounds. This record does not contain any of their most popular tunes, but still it is one of my faves, check out "Por ahi" , "el chulo" and "don palabras". Also check out other maldita recordings.
3rd studio album and still strong.......2000-08-04
The twist of latin percussive rhythms incorporatred with ska horns a la Maldita Vecindad still shine on this, their third studio album. If you find the average guitar-ska sound to be a bit weak, then this album may suit your palette, as the guitar sound is beefier on this album than any of Maldita Vecindad's other efforts. However, that does not make this a rock album that will turn away the listeners of the band from days past. There are some beautiful Mexican flavors and skanking moments throughout as well as the almost mandatory ballad. The only irony I find is that the sound on this album seems more like a circus than their previous album, "El Circo". (I think the gruelling touring schedule of the band's past, along with the circus that life is, influenced the previous album title). The overwhelming success of "Pacucho" from "El Circo" may shadow everything else Maldita Vecindad does, but the listener who seeks fine music instead of mere hits will find this album holding a special place in their stereo and heart. This being my second review of Maldita Vecindad, and again only four out of a possible five stars, I wish to comment as to why I chose simply four stars. The band is five stars. Their live shows are five stars. This causes me to think very highly of what they are capable of. I am still waiting for that ultimate album which will cause me to shout and rejoice in the eternal five star quality.
