Light rock tunes and soft pop ballads marked Enrique Iglesias's 1995 debut, but what obviously propelled him to the top of the charts was his young good looks and his pedigree, son of perhaps the most famous troubadour in the music world--Julio Iglesias. "Trapecista" and "Experiencia Religiosa" were solid tunes with catchy hooks. And even on the simple tune "Por Amarte," one can detect Iglesias exploring wailful tones and learning the power of melodic phrasing. In "Si Tu Te Vas," he examines idealistic love, while "Inalcansable" captures youthful dreams. Those songs are the bright spots in an otherwise pedestrian pop-ballad CD. The fact that Iglesias scored five consecutive number one singles on Billboard from this CD may attest more to the power of the elder Iglesias's worldwide fans. --Ramiro Burr

After three years of tossing and turning in anticipation of a new Enrique Iglesias disc, fans of the Latin superstar may find themselves losing still more sleep over early reviews that take Insomniac to task for straying too far from the sound that launched him to the loverman stratosphere. No need, though. Despite the presence of Lil' Wayne on the ultra-steamy, street-edged "Push" and some unapologetically catchy pop tunes any male singer, ethnicity aside, could have fun with ("Do You Know," for example, and "Tired of Being Sorry," a Ringside re-tread), white-hot machismo and Latin charm permeate Insomniac reliably. "Little Girl" sends out liquid-eyed outpourings of love to the ladies, "Don't You Forget About Me" delivers a sweet lament over a melting guitar line, and three late Spanish-language tracks--though they're just translations of English versions that preceded them--manage to lift the whole thing into a romantic shangri-la. If it's a peppier shangri-la than normal, chalk it up to No-Doz; Iglesias admits in the liner notes that he, himself, is the insomniac the disc was named for. --Tammy La Gorce

Album Description

Enrique Iglesias has sold 40 million albums in a little over a decade, becoming one of the most successful artists in the history of popular music. He has spent the past three years crafting his latest album.

Entitled "Insomniac," a humorous nod to Enrique's sleepless nights and obsessive artistic persona, the record is clearly the most ambitious project of his phenomenal career.

Pretty good album. Anyone who likes this should check out a compilation series on iTunes called "Euro Club Hits" ... (there's a vol. 1, vol. 2, vol. 3, etc. etc.)...... So much of current club music in the USA is based in the stuff coming out of Europe, and yet nobody seems to know of it and the radio doesn't play it here! So I'm taking it as my personal mission to introduce everyone to it as best I can ...... "Euro Club Hits" -- it's only on the digital services for some reason -- iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Emusic, etc. etc.

4 out of 5 stars great.......2007-07-16

as usual, Enrique is awesome. Some of the songs are a little artsy and you can tell he was experimenting...a bit too much if you ask me. but in general, Enrique always delivers.

I love Erique Iglesias' new CD. It's beautiful and smooth. I think he's a very talented song writer and singer.

It's no mean feat being the world's foremost crossover artist--a task that risks alienating two disparate audiences and everyone in between--but somebody had to do it, and Andrea Bocelli again walks that artistic tightrope with impressive deftness. The title may imply a casual intimacy (indeed, the singer admits to taking a more "hands-on" approach to the album's conception and production), but it's a collection that nonetheless continues to expand on the Italian tenor's ambitious internationalism. His collaboration "Sin Tu Amor" immerses his voice in the Gipsy Kings' own rich Iberian folk-pop fusion with compelling results, while "Where Love Goes" (a musical focal point of the film Lazarus Child), his English language duet with 11-year-old prodigy Holly Stell, achieves an almost liturgical grace. "Tu Ci Sei" (You Are There) continues in the romantic vein of his familiar theme "Con Te Partiro" (Time to Say Goodbye), while the single "Dell' Amore Non Si Sa" (With Love You Never Know) features Bocelli in a signature dramatic tour de force collaboration with arranger Mauro Malavasi, the accomplished producer of the singer's Romanza and Sogno albums. Bocelli's shrewd taste and vocal prowess here not only again redeem an oft-maligned genre, but elevate it considerably in the bargain. --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars HOW DO YOU SAY,"WOW," IN ITALIAN?.......2007-06-22

BEFORE I START, LET ME SAY, THAT I AM A DANCE CLUB GUY AND THAT, ORDINARILY, THIS IS NOT MY KIND OF MUSIC. OF COURSE, I LAUGH AS I SAY THAT, AS, APPARENTLY, A NEW DOOR HAS OPENED IN MY LIFE, THANKS TO THIS MAN.
A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD HEARD ANDREA DO, "CON TE PARTIRO," ON A PBS SPECIAL AND MY EYES FILLED WITH TEARS THAT ANY HUMAN COULD MAKE SUCH SOUNDS. I WAS ASTOUNDED; MORE ASTOUNDING, STILL, WAS TO HEAR THIS ALBUM AND FIND THAT HIS VOICE HAD ACTUALLY VASTLY IMPOVED OVER TIME. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? " CON TE..," PALES IN COMPARISON TO THE QUALITY OF THIS WORK; THE TRACKS ON THIS CD ARE PERFECT, FULL, RICH, AND MORE MOVING THAN ANYTHING I HAVE EVER HEARD. I HAVE HAD IT A WEEK, NOW, AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LISTEN TO ANYTHING ELSE FOR VERY LONG, AND I PLAY IT OVER AND OVER. IT HAS BEEN MANY YEARS SINCE I HAVE BEEN AFFECTED LIKE THIS BY ANY VOCAL CD. IF HE NEVER RECORDED AGAIN HE WOULD HAVE MADE A MARK ON THE WORLD OF AUDIO NEVER TO BE ERASED OR FORGOTTEN. WHAT A VOICE! WHAT SONGS! THE CUT, "LIBERTA," ABSOLUTELY KILLS ME WITH FEELINGS OF JOY AND MARVEL. I HAVE EVEN TAKEN UP STUDYING ITALIAN BECAUSE OF IT.
TREAT YOURSELF, AND A GOOD FRIEND, TO THE SOUNDS ON THIS CD. SIT AND WATCH A SUNSET WITH IT ON... I MEAN NOW!

5 out of 5 stars Just buy it........2007-05-30

If you like soft music that make's you feel up beat, just order a Andrea Bocelli CD. Listening to his CD's after being at work all day, is like having an option in life to hear and be somewhere else.

5 out of 5 stars Teamo, Andrea Bocelli .......2007-03-08

One of his best. Need the lyrics translated from the Italian to the English inside the casing next time. Nonetheless, Mr. Bocelli has a beautiful voice. It made my wife and all my female co-workers swoon when they listened to it.

4 out of 5 stars A new style from Andrea........2007-02-24

There were some ugly songs in here.(I absolutely hate to say that about anything Andrea.)But the good far outshone the bad.
Un Nouvo Giorno stunned me the first time I heard it.It was so unlike anything I had heard from Andrea- very pop.But it soon grew on me.
Liberta is amazing.Very catchy and upbeat.
Sempre O Mai is my favorite. It keeps its tempo up and has the best of Andrea and pop.Great song.

So this album was really a double album with pop and classical songs interspersed.A good mix from the master.

When I ordered this on 12/04/2006 they said I would have it before Christmas. Then right before Christmas the delivery date was changed to mid-January. So I had to cancel my order and go, at the last minute, buy it at a store because it was a Christmas present. I wasn't happy about it and won't be buying from amazon for the holidays any longer.

Months before this major-label debut appeared, Enrique Iglesias scored a radio hit with the upbeat "Bailamos," thanks to its inclusion on the soundtrack of Wild Wild West. Enrique's bid to firmly place the son of Julio in the mainstream pop firmament leads off with another midtempo dance-pop airwaves candidate, "Rhythm Divine." The track is typical of the rest that follow: highly wrought emotion recalled in a bed of glossy production that uses Latin syncopation as a reminder of the singer's roots while resolutely aiming for chart supremacy next to the likes of Celine Dion. Filled with pop romanticism--a duet with Whitney Houston, a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Sad Eyes," and proclamations on the order of "I've seen the sun make love to the sea"--Enrique is easy enough on the ears, and looks like a surefire hit. --Rickey Wright

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars In His Father's Footsteps.......2006-10-31

Being the son of legendary Julio Iglesias it was no coincidence that Enrique would become a singer aswell. Blessed with good looks, charisma and a smooth romantic voice, Enrique debuted with this English album in 1999. Many of the hit songs here are latin uptempo's like "Bailamos", "Rhythm Divine", "Alabao" and "Oyeme" that perfectly came in a time where Latin music sold well to the English market (Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Jlo, Shakira) but there are also great powerballads like "Be With You", "I Have Always Loved You " and "I'm Your Man" and covers like Bruce Springsteen's "Sad Eyes" and top notch duets "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" with Whitney Houston. There are also spanish versions of 3 songs towards the end, including the big hit "Rhythm Divine". From a commercial point of view, "Enrique" had it all and it sold really well also. Enrique was the artist on everybody's lips in 1999-2000. He would later release "Escape" that was also good and lastly "Seven" in 2003 that was a dissapointment. Now it seems like he's spending more time being a celebrity and dating hot models then being a good singer. A shame. "Enrique" is an exellent pop album though, recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Love this hottie.......2006-08-30

I had to buy this cd again because my other one got ruined- totally worth the money- this cd is the best

5 out of 5 stars Great album.......2006-01-21

I got this album when it was first released, when I was fourteen or so. I saw the video for "Bailamos", and I knew I had to have this cd. Years later, I still find myself sitting here listening to it. I absolutely love this cd. It was honestly life-changing for me... It inspired me to take Spanish classes in high school, and I wouldn't be where I am today if not for those classes.

Some of the songs aren't great. I don't really care for "Sad Eyes", and I hardly ever listen to the Spanish versions of anything but "Rhythm Divine". However, the rest of the tracks make up for it. "Bailamos" is still one of my favorites, and it has been years since I first said that. "You're My #1" has beautiful lyrics, and it is sung with incredible emotion. "Oyeme" and "Alabao" will make you want to get up and dance.

Overall, this is an excellent album. If you like any kind of pop or latin music, this is a good album for you.

5 out of 5 stars "ENRIQUE" - Masterpiece Of Music.......2005-12-18

I first heard "Escape" in summer 2002 and really got in to Enrique Iglesias. I went on his website to find some information about him, and thought Escape was his first album, but found out he had done one before this called "Enrique" his english language debuet recorded with Interscope records. Even though some of the tracks have spanish titles they are all in english. The album was recorded and released in the summer of 1999. I was probably a little too young to appreciate Enrique's music then, but I do now and this album has opened my mind to many different types of music. I listened to clips of the songs on this album on his web page and was really impressed. I fell in love with this music as soon as I heard it, and never since have I loved any music so deeply. I was never really in to music before this album, but it is so beautiful and full of rhythm I bought a copy and have cherished it ever since.
Enrique really opened up a part of my life that had been shut off before, and it is a joy listening to this album.
This album turned me on to Latin music and this remains my favourite album, even four years later.
I absolutely loved Escape, but loved this album much more and I found something very special in it.
"Rhythm Divine" is my favourite song on the album and is the best latin song ever. The lyrics are great and the tune and beat is even better. It is far better then anything Ricky Martin has done. Even though I like Ricky Martin's music, I much preffer Enrique's because it seems to be much deeper and if you are a fan of Enrique Iglesias this is the album to buy.
"Be With You" is a great dance/pop track and is really catchy.
Another song on the album that really caught me was "Bailamos" because of it's great beat and rhythm. The lyrics are also pretty cool.
This song is great and sounds fairly similar to Rhythm Divine in the sense that it is so latin. This was one of the albums singles and Enrique's first major radio-hit in the U.S., and was included on the "Wild Wild West" soundtrack.
"I Have Always Loved You", "Could I Have This Kiss Forever - with Whitney Houston" and "You're My #1" are all beautiful songs and relax you as you are listening to them, though EVERY song on the album is extremely easy on the ears. Five of the albums songs are ballads and the other five are Latino or Dance pop. "I'm Your Man" and "Sad Eyes" are very beautiful and latin sounding.
"Alabao" and "Oyeme" are very catchy, and could have easily been singles. These songs sound a lot like Bailamos and Rhythm Divine and are in the category of dance-latin. There are three Spanish language tracks on the album "Ritmo Total (Rhythm Divine)" "Mas Es Amar (Sad Eyes)" and "No Puedo Mas Sin Ti (I'm Your Man)" and the last track is a brilliant remix of the song Rhythm Divine - "Fernando Garibay Remix". This album will bring so many emotions to you. It will make you want to get up and dance, and make your thoughts and feelings so deep, but at the same time make you so care free. It is simply a beautiful album and a masterpiece for music.
I found it very uplifting and enlightening to hear this music. This is a great album to chill out to, and it never leaves my C.D. player for long, so I reccommend to any music lover, buying it 100% Anyone who enjoys latin music will LOVE this album.
This album was an hour of pure bliss to listen to.
If you like this album I also reccommend "Escape" and "seven".

5 out of 5 stars "Enrique", CD by Enrique Iglesias.......2005-08-04

I believe this early CD by Enrique Iglesias to be one of his best! It is truly romantic, and much of it really makes you want to dance. I've played this particular CD in a boutique where customers shopped for cosmetics, and it put everyone in such a great mood that they wanted to hangout and spend money! It's a nice one to have on during parties, too, because there's a variety of slow ballads mixed with faster more energetic cuts.

Enrique Iglesias is very definitely a child of the 1980s, and his arena-rock aspirations are prominently displayed on 7. The Latin superstar's third English-language album is filled with fist-pumping choruses, crisp guitar riffs, and rock-tinged pop ditties destined to send fans into serious states of swooning. Aching love ballads occupied much of Iglesias' time on previous efforts, but those are kept to a minimum here. Even the first single, "Addicted," swells with a chorus that seems designed for maximum sing-along potential. Songs such as "The Way You Touch Me," "Break Me Shake Me," "Free," and "You Rock Me" shimmy and sparkle, anchored by Iglesias' ever-improving, always sexy vocal delivery. It makes for a vibrant mix of music, and it will be nearly impossible to resist singing along with more than a few of these gems even after one listen. Rock on. --Joey Guerra

5 out of 5 stars Houston TX CHIC.......2006-12-07

I usually don't listen to this particular style of music but I must say I went to an Enrique Concert this week and his music really blew me away to say the least. I went on a whim for my birthday. I immediately felt transported to another time and place. In saying all this, I went out and bought his latest 3 albums "Seven", Enrique, and Escape". All 3 have a similar threaded theme but are each unique. I enjoyed every song. On "Seven" I really liked "Not in love". That song just screams out having good times with friends in a local club/pub atmosphere. I also liked "Be Yourself, Addicted, California Callin, Break Me Shake Me and Rommer". The whole darn thing is good. If you purchase it, you won't be dissapointed. I look forward to the next album release. WAY TO GO ENRIQUE!

4 out of 5 stars A Good Album by Enrique !!!.......2005-12-21

I can't believe it's been a year since someone did a review of this album, so I figured i'd update it and write a review myself.
Being a big fan of "Escape" and a massive fan of "Enrique" I was naturally very excited when I heard news of a third english album by Enrique Iglesias.
"Seven" may not be as theatrical as "Escape", but it's a good listen none the less.
Having said this it did take a short while to grow on me, and like some of his other songs "Escape" and "Love To See You Cry" some of the songs on this album did not catch me instantly, but the more I listened to it I found I liked it.
There is not as much Latin influence on this album as there was on "Enrique", apart from a little tingle of Latin base on "Not In Love", but there are some great Pop and Rock songs on this album. It is more similar to "Escape" then anything else he has done. Enrique seemed to be trying to move away from Latino sounding music on this album, and concentrate souly on Pop and Rock music. The type of music on this album really shows the type of singers he looks up to i.e. Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, The Police... ect. The album does have an 80's feel to it somewhat, especially on tracks such as "Be Yourself" and "Break Me, Shake Me". All the tracks are easy and enjoyable to listen to.
The fast moving, base sounding "Not In Love" is definetly one of the funnest songs on the album to listen to. The album version is exactly the same as the single except it does not feature Kelis. If "Not In Love" is the type of song you like then there are even better sounding songs on the album, so don't settle for the single. Buy this album, because you'll love it. This has also been the edgiest pop song Enrique had done before and sounds great.
"The Way You Touch Me" is a great pop song and sounds even a little country in places. This one should definitly get you up and dancing, and is a great second track for the album. It is also fast paced like the previous track. A good smooth Enrique song, similar to any track on Escape. It could have easily been a single.
"Say It" is one of the albums ballads and is very sweet. It is a slow song and Enrique's vocals sound good on it. It is fairly similar to Escape's "Hero" in ways. It is about a girl that Enrique upset, but wants to know if she still wants him. This song is a classic Enrique Iglesias song, and really starts to get good somewhere in the middle. Overall this is a pretty good song and easy to listen to, because it has a nice melody and vocals to it.
"California Callin'" is one of the albums good tracks, and has a good guitar rhythm in it. Enrique explains that he is on the road and is driving past the woman he loves and wonders if he should pass her or turn around and head towards her. This is a really smooth rock track by Enrique and you will find "Seven" is the album that showcases some of Iglesias's best Rock songs.
"Addicted" was the albums first single and provided it with a #1. I did not find this song one of the best on the album, and enjoyed others more, but it is a good track by Enrique. Many people would call this one of Enrique's classic songs, but it sounded pretty ordinary to me. Not a bad track though. Worth a listen.
"Break Me, Shake Me" was a cool track on the album and turned out to be one of my favourites. It is a really fun song and even though the title sounds a bit funny it sounds great. I think this is a classic song by Enrique and one of his best. It is extremely catchy and makes you imagine you are on a beach in California watching the sun set. It is a fast paced pop song and it is a safe bet that many people would enjoy it. The guitars in this track sound great. This could have been one of the albums singles.
"Free" is a pretty good song and fits in well with the album. This song is just a fun song to listen to. I was surprised how many of these songs seemed like they could have been from Escape.
There is a good guitar bit in the song, and as a result it is one of the albums catchiest songs.
"Be Yourself" is another favourite off the album, and is an amazing pop/rock track. It is definetley one of the albums highlights. It has a very true message to it, but at the same time is not about being taken seriously at all. Great chorus to this song and the verses are good to. One of Enrique's best songs. It is a shame "Seven" wasnt promoted more, because it could have had plenty of singles and this song could have easily been one. The song basically talks about Enrique trying to persue his dreams of stardom, and his parents attitudes towards that, especially his father Julio, but the main message of the song is that he stuck to his dreams and made them a reality.
"Wish You Were Here ( With Me )" is another ballad from the album and is a good track. It talks about a lost love, and Enrique realising his mistakes, but finds it is sometimes to late to get these people that you love back. This track is a little bit upsetting, but a solid track for the album. I notice how Enrique does quite a few songs about love lost i.e. "Be With You", "Maybe" and some of the other tracks on Seven. This song does have a nice latin sounding instrumantal part in it.
"You Rock Me" is similar to "Free" because it is a fun pop song and that is all. It has a tinge of rock to it, and is quite catchy. It's a pretty solid track.(None of them are un-solid) and fits in well with this album. It isn't as great as some of the other tracks on the album though, but none of the tracks are worth skipping over.
"Roamer" is a great song on the album, and is one of my favourites. This could have easily been a hit for Enrique.
This is one of the albums best points and captured me the first time I heard it. It is a love ballad and seems to shimmy and sparkle. This song is one of the best put together songs on the album and makes Seven a must own for Enrique fans.
"Live It Up Tonight" is an O.K. track, but nothing special.
It talks about forgetting all your worries and just having a good time. It is quite a catchy song and a good way to end a great album.
Album Highlights are the following tracks, and get 5/5 ratings from me.
Roamer.
Be Yourself.
Break Me, Shake Me.
Not In Love.
Say It.
The Way You Touch Me.

Wish You Were Here With Me.
I am probably not giving this album a 5 star review because it did not catch my attention right away like his previous two english records, but is a MUST for any Enrique Iglesias fan and they should not be without it. I strongly urge you to buy yourself a copy, because it makes for an enlightening and joyful listen. Great album !!!

4 out of 5 stars The music OK, him, not OK.......2004-12-21

The rock music in his CD is just fantastic but he should stick to singing in spanish. You could barely understand what he's saying but The Way You Touch Me and Not In Love are cool and it shows another side of Enrique. I never thought he could be like that. Free shows that other side of him, overall the CD was awsome.

5 out of 5 stars Rock With This Album!!.......2004-12-07

I used to think that he would be singing pop ballads. But I mis-interpreted what he was. Particular the songs on this album are more of an 80's rock vibes that hit everywhere like skittles back in those heydays. Anyway I think loads of people apreciated his efforts on this album a lot. I saw with the sales of this album. The album is also on a heavy emotional delivery side. Mamking this album one of his most emotional albums to date on English. Well done Enrique!

4 out of 5 stars Passionate.......2004-12-06

I did not expect this CD to be this good! I blindly bought it because I've seen how Enrique sings/performs with passion and in a deeply felt manner. This one is no exception; I love all but 2 tracks. Say it, Wish You Were Here, Addicted, Roamer, & Free are my absolute favorites. The CD can't seem to leave my car player.

Sexy heartthrob Enrique Iglesias returns with a slickly produced collection of rhythmic ballads ("Esperanza," "Cosas del Amor") and soft rocking sing-along tunes ("Desnudo," "Contigo"). Iglesias, who wrote six songs here, sounds more confident and in control than ever in this work produced by Rafael Perez-Botija. Ultimately, though, most of this stuff sounds like lightweight pop pap wrapped in lush arrangements, occasionally overly dramatic and consistently overproduced. The tunes go down nicely, but they're instantly forgotten once they're over. The only tunes into which Iglesias injects some notable fire are "Para de Jugar" and the R&B/funk-flavored "Dicen por Ahi." It hardly matters, however, to his main audience--mostly adoring female fans. Iglesias's matinee-idol looks and this sweet ear candy are all they need. --Ramiro Burr

Enrique Iglesias with this cd"cosas del amor"has a 5 star in the way to sing every track. His voice is very touching.all songs are beautiful."Sirena" and "Nunca te olvidare"are my favorite tracks

5 out of 5 stars ENRIQUE'S THIRD / ALL GOOD SONGS !!!.......2004-11-18

This cd has all good songs with good lyrics and soulful music. There's really not a bad song here just a cd full of hits, so i can't really pick a favorite. Probably the most monotonous song would be #8 Para de Jugar because it only has two small pharagraphs and the chourus is just repeated over and over again. The singles chosen out of this cd really stand out from the rest, but the title theme, #2 Cosas del Amor, is also a good song. He really starts to prove what he can do with his voice, especially in #6 Alguien Como Tu, where he holds a note out for a while. This is probably his cd where he shows that he's maturing in his lyrics and music. The success from this great cd prepares him for his crossover to the English market.

5 out of 5 stars Stll Love This Cd.......2004-10-09

First off I like to say that I have known Enrique Iglesias since his first cd and own almost all of them expect Quizas {2002}which I have not bought to this day. But I will be adding it to my E.I. cllection and his remixes (1998) Enrique Iglesias's father Juilo Iglesias is a well known repescted singer who has been singing since the 70's and now his son to this day is a well respected singer like his father whos been singing since the middle 90's. This cd is not the original cd that I owned before. That one got badly sctrached that I had not choice to throw it away and get a new copy. I have a reprint copy which was reprinted in 2002 but thats okay I am just glad to have this wonderful cd from E.I. again which I think has so far been his best work with some of the nicest song like Esperanza and Para De Jugar which are 2 of my faves. I don't speak a lot spanish but I do understand it. But you don't have to speak spanish or just speak a lttle bit but just understand it so you can understand the betaiful words that Enrique puts into the betaiful songs of his cds.. Thank You other Enrique Fans.

5 out of 5 stars The essence of Enrique.......2003-09-30

Enrique is the king of writing highly emotional songs and this cd proves it. almost all of the songs are very romantic like 'sirena', and 'contigo' and 'nunca te olvidare' although some are of heartbreak, they are so well written and sung. 'ruleta rusa' has a cool beat to it, different, spices up the cd a bit. and 'dicen por ahi' makes you feel soo bad for talking bad about someone. imagine if you talked bad about an ex beau and he found out...how would you feel?? this is his best cd by far, there are soo many great songs and lyrics. It's what Enrique's music is all about...emociones puras y profundas.

5 out of 5 stars HIS BEST CD IN SPANISH........2003-04-13

When Enrique released his first cd back in 1995, I found it terrible, well actually the music and the lyrics were good but his voice back then was horrible. But in 1997 when his second one came out I found it better.
So in 1999 after listening to hits like "Esperanza" (Hope) and "Cosas del amor" (Love's things). I bought this tittle and I liked very much. The first song "Nunca te olvidare" (I'll never forget you) is a very good love song such as "Dice por ahi" (They say there around), "Contigo" (With you) or "Alguien como tu" (someone like you).
I also like Enrique's happier songs like "Para de jugar" (Stop playing) and one of my favorites, "Ruleta rusa" (I don't know how is the name of this game in English, I'm just gonna tell you how this game is. Is a round board with several colors and each one has an award or you can lose becuase you have to make it spin and when it stops you know if you lose or win something).
Returning to the cd, it's very good, I highly recommend it.

Enrique Iglesias returns to the language that first made him an international superstar on Quizás, his fourth Spanish-language album and sixth studio release overall. The album's nine new tracks are sure to induce plenty of swooning, with Iglesias's modest voice wringing pure pop emotion out of every last note. Songs such as "Tres Palabras," "Para Que la Vida," and "Mentiroso" (the album's first single, also featured in a mariachi version) are unashamedly romantic, and Iglesias works the heartbreak angle to good effect. He picks up the pace on "La Chica de Ayer," "Marta," and "Pienso en Tí," one of the album's best tracks, which veers effortlessly between tempos. The touching title track finds Iglesias musing on the reasons he and his superstar father have drifted apart. It's an unexpectedly vulnerable moment. --Joey Guerra

5 out of 5 stars Enrique's best CD/Album To Date!!.......2005-05-06

I am one of Enrique's most loyal, if not the most, loyal fan. I enjoy all of his music, the good and the bad. But "Quizas" is a pleasure trove from beginning to end. From "Tres Palabras" to "No Apagues la Luz", this CD rocks! Enrique wears his heart on his sleeve on every track, even the uptempo ones. I enjoy listening to all different styles of singing, and in spanish, it is generally Luis Miquel, Mark Anthony, and Enrique. And Enrique is my favorite because of his raw emotion. You can not, even if you are ice cold, listen to this CD and not be moved! It is riddled with emotion. Enrique himself says that the CD is his best work to date on the enclosed DVD, and it is very true. The DVD is a compilation of his music videos (spanish) with an interview with Enrique. The DVD is as beautiful as the CD. And the CD is as beautiful as Enrique himself (and that saying a lot!), inside and out. No matter what your culture(s) is/are, you will love this CD, get it today! Take my word for it; you won't regret it!

First,I wanna say that I don't know Spanish at all,Even the title"quizas".A friend of mine told me it meant"Maybe",but I'm not sure. Most of Enrique's English songs are Dance, and I don't like them very much, but this album gives me a brand new Enrique--Emotional n' Romatic.I don't know why,but many Chinese version has less songs than other versions. This CD only has 9 songs in China,so I bought the U.S. version. You know it's not easy to find an import CD in China, but I've got it!Although it doesn't include the Chinese translation which Chinese version alway has.I just don't wanna miss any track in this wonderful CD.I love all songs in this CD,especially "Tres Palabras"&"Quizas"
And because of Enrique,I start to learn Spanish!

Album Description

First CD single pulled from Enrique Iglesias' eighth studio album Insomniac. 'Do You Know?' is an infectious hit and one of the rare occasions in which a ping pong ball makes an appearance as a percussion instrument. Features two versions of 'Do You Know?' (The Ping Pong Song): Main Version and DJ Dan Remix. Polydor.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Do you know... (how much you like the song?).......2007-06-26

This is the fun and catchy first single off of Enrique's new album "Insomniac." The main highlight off of this single is the DJ Dan Remix of the title track. This mix if funky and full of energy, however, not all of the vocals are used in the song - just a warning to those of you out there who are only interested in mixes featuring full vocals. There are also mixes by Ralphi Rosario & Craig J, however (as far as I know) those mixes are only available on DJ Promo CD Single. I give this particular CD single 3 stars only because it lacks the other mixes of the song. However, this is still a great item for any fan of Enrique Iglesias.

With the seventh installment of Pavarotti & Friends: For Cambodia and Tibet, the beloved tenor assembles yet another all-star cast of musicians in hopes of helping the children of Cambodia and Tibet. The music of the pop stars--which ranges from the modern rock of the veteran Eurythmics to the dance-pop of Aqua--really steals the show here, with Pavarotti lending his impeccable vocal support. Tracy Chapman performs "Baby Can I Hold You" as a duet with Pavarotti, and Eurythmics team up with him on "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)." Of course, the tenor's fans will be begging to hear the opera great in his element, and it's no surprise that he shines on Bizet's "Agnus Dei," with international pop star Mónica Naranjo joining in; Eduardo Di Capua's "O Sole Mio," with Savage Garden; or even Luigi Denza's "Funiculi, Funicula," with Aqua and a children's chorus. As globetrotting benefit tributes go, this is a mixed bag, but there's probably something here for everyone. --Jason Verlinde

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent video...........2002-10-13

I am a fan of Savage Garden, The Eurythmics, and George Michael - all of them did a great job with and without Pavarotti....

And the man who sang O SOLE MIO - Darren Hayes (formerly of Savage Garden)... has the most beautiful- angelic- sultry and great voices I have ever heard - and to do it in Neapoliaton Italian (dialect) and in my opinion the best duet of ALL of them featured!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great songs sung by a diverse group of artists.......2002-02-07

As always, Maestro Pavarotti's Modena concerts are highly entertaining and uplifting.
All artists sang two songs during the concert (one on their own and another with Maestro Pavarotti), but unfortunately not all of the songs are featured on this video. Another shortcoming is that there are no interviews or any extra footage.

It is funny to hear Pavarotti sing a pop tune as it is equally funny to see a pop singer with virtually no voice doing "O Sole Mio", but if it is all in good spirit and for charity, then it is enjoyable.

If you are intersted in European music scene or simply love Pavarotti, this tape will be a great treat for you.

5 out of 5 stars Pavarotti's Best War Child Concert.......2002-01-04

Bravo showed this concert on New Years 2002 and it blew my mind. It is certainly the best of the War Child concerts, which started in 1996 as Pavarotti's effort to help the children of war-torn countries.
Like in the previous concerts, Pavarotti appears with international pop stars in the open-air piazza of his home town, Modena, Italy. (How do I get tickets for that?)
If you haven't heard any of these concerts, also available on CDs, you will be surprised how well Pavarotti's voice--a voice that makes the gods swoon--blends with the likes of Enrique Iglesias, George Michael, Tracy Chapman, and the Eurythmics. Previous concerts included B.B. King, Elton John, Ricky Martin, and Liza Minelli. Sometimes he sings along in English, sometimes in Italian counterpoint. The effect is stupdendous! These concerts display all the beauty of this great operatic voice while at the same time honoring the art of our greatest pop artists.
What makes this video the best is the children's chorus, the combined Ars Canto of Parmi, Italy, and the Children's Choir of Cambodia and Tibet. The video starts with this chorus joining Pavarotti and the totally sexy Enrique Iglesias in a rousing "Cielito Lindo."
Pavarotti really knows entertainment and in this one he pulls out all the stops! Best of all, part of the proceeds of this tape goes to benefit the children of Cambodia and Tibet. Pavarotti's efforts to help War Child have already built music centers for children in Kosovo, Liberia, and Guatemala. What great leadership!
He says on one of his jackets: "All too often, children are betrayed by the inhuman actions of adults, and become the innocent victims of war and cruelty. War Child is an energetic, and practical organization offering vital hope, working tirelessly for children to regain their rightful place in the world."

4 out of 5 stars Very diverse! Loved it!.......2000-12-18

I am a HUGE Savage Garden fan so that was the main reason to buy this album. And I have to say Darren's voice is AWESOME in "O Sole Mio", the first time I listened to it it made me cry. So I bought the cd. I was glad to see that there are very enjoyable songs in the album not only the SG tracks. I loved Tracy Chapman's "Baby Can I Hold You Tonight" performance, now I am a Tracy fan too. You'll enjoy the performances by Aqua, Enrique Iglesias and Eurhytmics and of course the queen Tracy Chapman " ("Telling Stories" is superb!). I even discovered some new artists I had never heard of and I liked them. You won't be disappointed by this album.

5 out of 5 stars A wonderfully enjoyable and diverse collection of music.......2000-11-05

This collection of music has given me great pleasure. Aqua's Around the World is a joy. Hearing the Eurythmics and Pavarotti perform together is fun and beautiful. I also especially liked Enrique Iglesias's Be with you. 20 tracks and 77 minutes of great music I will listen to again and again. And all for a good cause.

As Latino superstar Enrique Iglesias moves closer to the U.S. mainstream--or pulls it toward him--Fonovisa Records compiles 10 tracks for this greatest-hits disc. Lush power ballads carry the day here; "Tu Vacio" suggests that Meat Loaf is as much an influence on Enrique as dad Julio. Pop radio and club dance floors aren't ignored, though, as the title track and the house mix "Esperanza" make clear. Bailamos will likely stand as a landmark in a career that appears unstoppable. --Rickey Wright

3 out of 5 stars Why such popularity?.......2007-03-11

Call me crazy, but when Enrique sings in Spanish he is just one of the many good singers out there singing in Spanish. When he sings in English he is the best, in a class by himself, an unmatched talent. Some people seem to like this better, I don't know why. Compared to Cheo Feliciano he is just average.

5 out of 5 stars Great Mix of Pop, Ballads and Dance........2003-03-15

This CD has a little for everyone! A great mix of pop songs, ballads and a couple of dance tracks. Though like most Spanish singers, his stuff sounds better in Spanish than in English, all the tracks are a delight! I think "Bailamos" is one of the best Spanish radio hits ever - a great blend of Spanish flavor that translates well into English. "Falta Tanto Amor" is a beautiful Spanish ballad and I luv the trendy dance track "Nunca Te Olvidare." The only regret is that there are only 10 tracks on the CD! But this one is well worth the cost!

5 out of 5 stars wonderful.......2001-08-16

I loved this Cd by Enrique Iglesias. I was never a big fan of his until I heard this CD. The music was so beautiful. I didn't really know what the songs were about because I do not know much Spanish, but the songs moved me. Some of them were so beautiful I wanted to cry. This Cd is well worth the money of buying.

5 out of 5 stars An interesting choice.......2001-03-22

I was very wary of this Best Hits effort given the earlier Greatest Hits attempt. Bailamos:The Greatest Hits was a very disapointing album with a poor choice of songs to highlight Enrique's spanish language career. However this one seems a very a good attempt. With a good choice of songs. With the catchy songs like Vivire y Morrire and Ruleta Rusa being a standout. Perhaps the most amazing is rather than do for remixes and radio edits Nunca de Olividare and Cosas Del Amor make it onto the album untounched (unlike on the Greatest Hits in which Esperanza and Nunca de Olividare where massacred). Enrique' s cover of Only you makes it too. Albeit mixed language. My preference is the all spanish Solo En Ti but I'm glad they didn't fall for the trap of using the all english version of the song (again, like The Greatest Hits). Put this together withthe great songs from his first album the moving Si Tu Te vas and Experienca Religrosa which, for me provide a touch of genuine nostalgia as I remember them when they were new and also the more recent English efforts of Bailamos make this a great find for anyone. If I ever had doubts about Enrique they are all allayed when I listen to this Best Hits.
