Weak Orchestral Arrangements + Not Ottmar's Best.......2004-12-30

I am a fan of Ottmar's work so I did not hesitate when I found a copy of this album for sale. Though not a terrible record it is not what your average Ottmar fan has come to expect. The orchestral arrangements are clumsy or forgettable at best - inappropriate and dischordant at worst. Ottmar's guitar work is mostly relegated to plinking along - sometimes in a slightly dissonant fashion - on top of the orchestral arrangements. None of it is horrible, and a few cuts are even interesting, but my guess is that the typical Ottmat Leibert fan won't be listening to this CD more than once or twice. There are FAR better choices for anyone who likes Ottmar's work. Stick with his more popular stuff and save having to trade this in for somethign else (as I will be doing).

A must for any collection.......2002-04-30

This is simply one of the best CD's I have in my collection of approximately 2000. Incredibly beautiful, accessable, and seems to get better with every listen. Anyone who likes Jazz/New Age/Classical type guitar music cannot go wrong with this CD.

Surprisingly good.......2001-09-06

Ottmar Liebert is surprisingly graceful, restrained and subtle on this sincere and authentic ode to classical Spanish guitar. Liebert succeeds in exploring the subtly colored emotions of classical Spanish guitar music. There is a light flavouring of New Age in this CD, but in the very positive sense of authentically vulnerable tenderness rather than sappy sentimentality. It is clear that Liebert is treading new ground for himself here, and he does so with a refreshing and charming openness. A very pleasant CD that grows on you, and that can be played either in the foreground or the background.

Ottmar's finest work.......1998-09-02

I first found Ottmar when his Nouveau Flamingo CD was playing in a gift shop on the Cape Fear River in Wilmington, NC in 1993. Since then, I have found his music to be some of the best of New Age Jazz. But this album. WOW! No matter what style of music one prefers, this is simply one of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard. Incredibly powerful! Thank you, Ottmar!

Most people of the new generation have not heard of Henry Fiol. His sound is unique. The rythms of the old style salsa carry the bohemian notes that reminds us of the yourger days of mom and pop in our Latin countries. Sounds that are mixed with country folklore and African rhymes. The words of this album take you back to a world which describes what the salsa sound was all about. Music not commerce.

I love listening to this cd it is very relaxing and there is a couple songs that makes me want to get up and dance . Where i live this cd is nowhere to be found but i finally bought it and was well worth the money i have over 1000 cds and this one is in the top 5 of my favorite . I love all his music but secreto de amor has to be my all time favorite.

He's got the bases covered.......2001-09-04

A clandestine affair. A relationship just out of reach. Beauty. Passion. Suffering. And, the love for a son. Mr. Joan Sebastian has the love bases covered, to perfection. "Me Gustas" is the REALLY big hit on this CD. I had never even heard of Joan Sebastian until that song was being played on every street corner, in every supermarket and from every car radio in town, and I went out in search of that honey-smooth voice. "Anoche Hablamos" has a Julio Iglesias sound to it except for the "tu, tu, tu" of Juan Gabriel fame. Absorbing. The catchy "El Toro," a traditional rendering with "Bravos" and "Oles" is actually an analogy in which Sebastian likens suffering to bulls attacking the soul. Poor taste but good sounds. This whole CD is excellent. The only way it falls short is in quantity. It's only 34 minutes long, but 34 pleasing minutes they are.

Este es sin duda la mejor producción de Joan Sebastian, se puede dejar tocar todo el cd y todas las canciones son buenas... en especial Secreto de Amor y la que le dedicó a su ex-esposa Maribel Guardia: Un Idiota... en esta canción le pide perdón y le dice que la ama... una canción basada en un hecho real y muy personal cuando rompieron durante la grabación de la telenovela Tu y Yo por andar de resbaloso con la actriz Arlette Terán... el disco trae varios temas romanticos con sonidos modernos y los demás son muy buenos también... muy recomendado para cualquier alma bohemia

This is Joan's most successful CD to date, and deservedly so. Though his voice is showing a few signs of wear, he's still a marvelous singer, and his songs are so full of poetry and candor.

The hit single from this CD is "Secreto de Amor", about a secret love affair, and has an infectious bolero rhythm. It's a slightly new sound for him, with a catchy refrain that you'll find yourself singing along with.

Another lovely song is "Amorcito Mio", also about a discreet love..."amorcito mio~mio tan del alma~mio tan escondido~mio tan especial"...my favorite track of all is "El Toro", about how to conquer sadness using the imagery of a bullfighter. The lyrics are terrific and wise, and the guitar work of Ramon Stagñaro is sensational, as it also is in another wonderful song, "Anoche Hablamos" about a "kiss and make-up" scenario.

The booklet insert has easy to read lyrics and info (so appreciated by me) and photos, including a lovely one of his son Julian, the subject of the last track on the CD.

Joan's melodic songs seem to be slices of his life, beautifully written lyrics that tell personal stories and shared with his listeners. He's one of my very favorites, a great artist with much to give the world.

Secreto de Amor: Secret of a great CD.......2001-05-07

Let's start with the final verdict: guilty of first degree superb music. For those of you who want a taste of great musical arrangements and poetry, well you'll find it here. For those of you who want some playfulness in song, you'll find it here too. For those who want folklore, here it is. If you want it with a country twang, ditto. A sensual love song? No problem. A simple story, or something with a dance rhythm? You should know the answer by now. Albums usually have one or two songs that grab and hold a listeners attention. Be ready to be carried away by this album. If you want to know the secret of a great cd, then listen to Secreto de Amor.

Aleks Syntek is definitely a talented singer/songwriter/musician. I have all three of his releases and I highly recommend them! They're full of beautiful melodies and excellent arrangements. He's a great singer that can rival the so-called "best".

If you think that intelligent pop music in the Prefab Sprout vein with Spanish lyrics and some inventive keyboard work and arrangements sounds interesting, you should lend an ear to this CD. Aleks Syntek's music is catchy, superbly crafted and always well-produced.

Después de 'Bienvenido A La Vida', un disco serio y muy elaborado cuyo concepto era el ciclo de la vida, Aleks y su cómplice, el genial baterista Michael Rojkind, vuelven a la música pop más básica del estilo de su segundo disco 'Más Fuerte De Lo Que Pensaba' (¡estos dos discos anteriores son indispensables!). Esta vez Aleks y Michael cuentan con la colaboración del guitarrista Héctor Page y con Sabo Romo (ex Caifanes) en el bajo por tercer disco seguido. A diferencia de 'Más fuerte...' y 'Bienvenido...' este conjunto de canciones no llega al nivel de obra maestra, pero Aleks es un músico talentudo con un sonido muy propio, y sus discos siempre son muy innovadores. Y no quiero decir que no haya buenas canciones en este disco: 'Sin Ti', 'Otra Parte De Mí' y 'Lugar Secreto' pegan de inmediato y te harán saltar por todos lados, mientras que 'Una Ventana Del Cielo' y 'Volando Bajo' son rolas más lentas con arreglos de teclados y guitarras muy bonitos. Siempre que voy a México procuro comprar el último de Aleks (por supuesto prefiero la versión mexicana porque lleva las letras), y espero que haya sacado otro cuando me vaya la próxima vez. Ojalá este músico excepcional no pare de hacer bonísima música.

"Te Quiero Así" Bonus Track is Incredible!!!.......2005-10-17

For those who already have the original release of "Lugar Secreto," the Remastered Edition has improved sound quality (now comparable to Aleks' other CDs). But most-importantly, there is a bonus track of a live performance of a previously-unreleased song called "Te Quiero Así"... For those who get emotionally-charged over Syntek's music, be prepared- The conclusion of this song will send you over the top!!!!! (I just wish the fade after that performance wasn't so quick.)

The original release was great, even without the live bonus tracks. Especially for those who prefer the "rock" side of Syntek. But that last track makes the Remastered Edition a "must-have." Even if you already have the original.

This is a good CD, but if you are looking for a great cd by this singer,check out "Abrazar la Vida" and the latest "Paso a Paso". Luis fonsi has a great and powerful voice . My favorite songs on this CD are: Te Vas and Quisiera poder olvidarme de ti.

Amazing.......2003-03-20

Amor Secreto was how I discovered Luis Fonsi. I heard him on t.v. one day and I was hooked. I love Quisiera Poder Olvidarme de ti, it is so amazing. Fonsi has a voice that is truly a gift. Once I heard Amor Secreto I bought all of his other albums and they are all amazing. All of the songs on every album are high quality, they are all good enough to be released as singles. I must confess that I am addicted to his music and can't get enough. No lo cambio por ninguno, el es todo lo que quiero.

Best male vocalist on planet earth.......2003-03-10

After his debut "Comenzaré" and successful follow up, "Eterno", here comes Luis Fonsi's third album. Titled "Amor secreto" ( "Secret love" ), it contains 12 tracks plus a remix version of the album's first single "Quisiera poder olvidarme de ti", a powerful ballad, an area in which Fonsi excels.

Unlike the majority of Latin albums, this cd has more of an international sound to it. The songs are either beautiful ballads or uptempo r&b-influenced pop songs.

Ballad-fans will be hooked up by Luis' powerful yet very emotional voice and excellent production. "Te vas" ("you leave") sees Fonsi singing about how it feels when the one you love is leaving, and he is able to transmit strong feelings into his voice. The chorus is great and it's quite a good song to sing a long ( despite the difficulty in reaching those high notes he reaches effortlessly). As well as this, ( and first single) other slow moments are " Y ahora como te olvido" ( " how do I forget you" ) , "Tu puedes salvarme" ( "you can save me") or "Para vivir" ( "To live") a very emotional song in which Fonsi sings accompanied by a piano and some strings.

For those of you who enjoy uptempo tracks, you would be in heaven with "Fuera de Control" ("out of control") a greatly produced track which sees Luis at Britney-territory. "Irresistible" ("irresistible") goes in a similar direction and will have you singing in no time.

For those of you who don't speak Spanish, you will most probably enjoy the album all the same. Moreover, you will soon start singing lyrics in Spanish. If you like Luis Fonsi, then you must listen to his duet with Christina Aguilera, available in Aguilera's Spanish debut album "Mi reflejo"", in my opinion the best duet I have ever heard.

"Amor secreto", may sound familiar since it's the first single to his English debut. The track is called "Secret" and proved popular in US radios. If you enjoy artists of the like of Marc Anthony, or Christina Aguilera, you should give this a try! - I'm quite sure you won't regret it!.

I love Luis Fonsi's voice and songs on this cd. I think his songs have more depth to them this time around. I would definitly recommend this CD to anyone who loves Latin Pop. It has catchy tunes and easy to listen to again and again.... :)
