Beautiful Basque Belter!.......2004-10-19

Ainhoa won "Operacion Triunfo II" in 2003 despite the fact that she was pushed to the back a lot of the time. Her stage-presence, humility and fantastic voice finally won Spain over and she deservedly won the show. I would describe "Esencia Natural" much the same as I would describe Ainhoa herself - gutsy and beautiful.

There is a whole range of styles on this album. The beautiful violin that opens the CD on "Inquilino" is a good start. The Eastern-influenced "Aceptame asi" is a strong, gutsy song and an appropriate song for Ainhoa to sing as, at times, she didn't seem especially accepted or valued by the OT Academy. "No hieras mas" is a great ballad and shows off her strong voice. As is "Busco senales divinas" and "Cuando tu no estas". "Decidete" is another gutsy track with more of a rock feel to it - and Ainhoa certainly delivers - boy, can she belt! "Le digo adios al ayer" shows how Ainhoa can reach any note that she wants and is a great mid-tempo track. "Resignacion" is a beautiful song which Ainhoa delivers with much emotion - the song also shows how pure her voice can sound. "Lo bueno queda" was written by Ainhoa and is very different to the other tracks. It's different and complex, much like Ainhoa, and exibits different textures to her voice (which has an unusual quality, much like Bjork).

All in all this is a great album with lots of different sounds - subtle ballads, rock, belters, Eastern, country, electro...
Initially I thought "Esencia Natural" would fall in to the "bland, boring, we've all heard it before" category - but I was pleasantly surprised. The Beautiful Basque Belter has delivered!

The first work of Ainhoa, the powerful voice winner of the second edition of "Operacion Triunfo", give us a excellent CD with the best spanish pop-rock today (her essence). "Decídete" and "Cuando tú no estás" are the best songs of this hidden gem, but the other tracks of this album are very recommendable too!!! The "dream team" producers of this CD are Emilio Estefan, Jon Secada, Shakira and Gian Marco. Also you must hear her version of Rolling Stones' classic "Emotional Rescue" and the ballad "Busco señales divinas".

Since the 2nd season of Spain's Opweracion Triunfo started in late 2003, Ainhoa had always come accross to avid viewers as the contestant who had to strive to prove herself. Others in her batch had it easy- Nandez always wowed the judges, Beth was under the radar, Vega mystified everyone with her exotic beauty, Toni Santos had mass appeal. Ainhoa, meanwhile, armed with a huge stage presence and a grand voice, got under the judge's chopping board as early as the first episode. With all the emotional breakdowns when nobody among her competitors voted to save her and a swift brush with Vega, she seemed to have had the rockiest road to the finals. But heck, no matter how rocky the road was, she went on to the finals. To sweeten the deal, she bagged it, first prize and all. That after 3 nominations to be booted out of the contest, a "fistfight" with one of the contestants, and an intense desire to throw in the towel in the middle of the game.
After winning the contest in convincing fashion, Ainhoa strikes back with Esencia Natural. Armed with the creme of the crop- from producer Emilio Estefan to songwriter Shakira, Ainhoa delivers yet again. In listening to the album, there is that same energy Ainhoa has brought from the contest- the aim-to-please energy. Somehow, one can just hear it from her voice. Maybe she may try too much, but for people who have seen what this girl had to go through to achieve her status, all her efforts are definitely not in vain.

The album is lush, technically excellent, and should be supported. Ainhoa is one talent the world should notice, and better notice fast!

I think this is the best album of the millenium so far! Unlike some of the other members of Operacio Triunfo, Ainhoa has spent her winnings in the studio, not making expensive videos outside Barcelona Cathedral like Beth or making an expensive video badly like Tony Santos. Ainhoa has put only pure talent into this album, with so much money left that she can advertise it. The singles might have sold peanuts unlike the other 'triunfoites', but the album in Spain has done exceptionally well UNLIKE (exc. Vega and one or to others) the others. The only thing I want to know about this album is that who wrote which songs! I know Shakira wrote Resignacion; Leanne Rimes and her team did El Amor me esta llamando, and Emotional Rescue is a cover of the Rolling STones' 80's top 10. Please tell me the rest!

El disco suena bien pero no tiene la misma forlaleza musical de los discos anteriores. Hay una cancion que sirve bien como "sleeping pill". Los Temas 1,3, y "Peligro" son mas mejores de este disco.

Este es de esos discos que desde la primera canción te atrapan! Qué bueno es Santa Rosa, inmejorable en una reunión, fiesta, como fondo musical, de rumba o jerga. Es más, es el complemento ideal cuando se realiza ejercicio en casa, limpiando, cocinando! Definitivamente es un disco que se debe tener en casa. Hablando más seriamente, la canción NO QUIERO NADA REGALAO, es una consejera inconsciente del juego de poder entre las parejas.

This CD truly captures the essence of a Lover Salsero (a avid male salsa dancer), lyrics full of passion and love with musical arraignments that grab you by the through and throw you to the dance floor. Amazing Music!.......2002-01-06

This is an amazing album not only for Maria Martha Serra's singing but also for the beautiful music by El Trio Los Panchos. I first heard "Algo Contigo" and " Verdad Amarga." while watching one of my all time favorite films - " The Dark Side Of The Heart" or " EL Lado Oscuro Del Corazon." This is without question one of my top ten desert island picks and an absolute must for anyone who appreciates wonderful latin boleros. Other album hightlights are: "Perdida" and "Los Enamorados."
