Album Description

Insomnio is Sol D' Menta's fourth album. Recorded at Bandon's Paradise in Los Angeles it has musical influences from hip hop, drum and bass and the characteristic hard funk rythm of the band.

The first single, "Calle Luna, Calle Sol" is a remake of the salsa classic performed by Willie Colón and Héctor Lavoe.

Los Soles Rule!!.......2006-07-21

I was a sound tech back in the days, (about 10 years ago). I still remember the first day I heard of this band. Since Ricky was the principal voice. It has evolved in the music genre but yet stay loyal to theyre fans taste. Believe me as a sound tech I can know when a band is fooling around in stage and these guys live are the same quality as in CD. My advice, start getting theyre CD'S because August 22 is near by and they will release theyre next album and they will go up up up far beyond anybody could imagine.

Beautiful hard rock from my island.......2002-01-15

I was born in Puerto Rico, and this band, along with few others,is one of the greatest bands down there. This album is perfect, it has everything. "Locomotora" is a full-blown thrash song, "El Velo De La Verdad" is very dramatic but heavy, "Voices in my head" sounds like an Alice in Chains rock epic, and "Rebeldia" is like a mix of metal and ska. My favorite track tho, is a remake of an old song of theirs, "Sentido Contrario", a song about the dangers of drug addiction. Definitely worth your money. Viva Puerto Rico!

Great mix of rock rythms.......2001-11-09

I love this CD. The mix of musical flavors created by Sol D Menta is exceptional. I especially love the drum and bass rythms in El Principio and the psycodelic sounds in Voices in my Head. I get pumped everytime I play de album.

Sol d'Menta is The Best Band to see live, to headbang to, to dance salsa to, to ska, to jump, to mosh, to simply stare at in awe, to share a great night of music with, the ultimate natural high... no album does one of their shows justice, and the first one was a little better at that, but Hey, These Guys are not only original, they are Necessary, so support them while spending your money wisely... buy it!

Best Rock Band In Puerto Rico.......1999-02-04

I think that sol d' menta is the best band in Puerto Rico because they,do a lot of diferent stuff on their albums(efects,music patterns,latin beats).They deserve more recognition for their work and talents(label manegement,comunication media:television,press,radio...ect)they studied what they wanted to be... musicians.And some times i get mad because people like Fiel a la vega get more expousure whitout having any music talent at all..and even if they sound great IT'S CALLED RECORDING STUDIO WORK PEOPLE.Sol d' Menta its there for the music not the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

This the sophomore effort for this Puerto Rican Band, you can describe their music as a big melting pot of rhythms and influences from ska, jazz, trash, salsa, folk. Its a blend or raw and very carefully produced sound. Songs like ¿El Concepto? shows their rich musicianship and blend of sounds, Tito, their lead guitar player is one of the best in Puerto Rico, he also plays the violin, el cuatro and charango. Highly recommended for those who love eclectic music and experimental sounds
