AMAZING!!!!!!.......2006-10-24

We just saw them play live last weekend in Michigan and they blew us away!!! I thought the best flamenco I ever saw was at the Corral de Morelia in Madrid but Guitarras de Espana take Flamenco to the next level. The sweet sounds of the cello adds a dimension to the music that is very haunting and still captures the energy of the music. I would highly recommend buying both of these c.d.'s together. If you like Gipsy Kings you will like Guitarras, too. I almost like them better because Guitarras incorporates elements of world music along with the traditional sounds of flamenco. The energy they play with is palpable and infectious. You can see it in their faces as they encourage each other and play with precision AND passion. If you like flamenco/gypsy/guitar virtuosity, you will definitely like this!!

So much more than Spanish Guitar.......2005-03-16

When you hear Spanish guitar played live, you can't help but get caught up in the passion of the music. Perhaps it motivates you to buy the cd, but it never sounds quite the same at home. The music seems to lose its individuality and one song blends into the next without truly distinguishing itself. "Un respiro por el mundo" is a world away from this experience. From the opening pastiche of modern day street sounds halted by a simple insistent rhythm, the music launches into no-holds-barred exploration of Spanish guitar. Each track is a journey to another time and place. The music draws inspiration from all four corners of the world, delving into the past and future and pushing creativity to its edge without losing the essence or integrity. It's at once laid-back, passionate, thrilling, soulful, and moving... a truly unique collaboration. I loved it!
