EXcellent Package.......2007-08-02
I usually don't pay this much for CDs but based on how unique an item I thought it was worth it. I have to say once I got it and saw for myself I am more then satisfied. The overall package is excellent and it all fits nicely in the case of really good quality you just don't see stuff like this in the states. You get the original songs and the DVD with the openings, which is great I was able to get the modified songs off the DVD to enjoy on my ipod along with the full versions so I can have a complete BLEACH play list very good deal.
this soundtrack is amazing!!!.......2007-07-25
I love this cd! It contains all the opening and ending themes from the anime, also it has a dvd of all the opening and ending videos plus a few pictures from it as well. My only complaint is that most american dvd players won't be able to play the dvd due to it being Japanese, but otherwise I absoulutly love the music and if you like any of the opening or ending themes to the show then this is the cd for you.
I wish I could give it 10 stars!.......2007-04-30
I bought Bleach the Best for the CD alone. The CD is wonderful!!!! My children and I love the songs and have a great time. In the car or doing dishes at home, this CD has music that gets you pumped to watch the series! The CD songs are the openings and closings for the show and it is great to hear them in their true form. The CD set I purchased from Amazon came with the DVD for Region 2 or for Japanese DVD players, pin-ups of the captians and Renji along with a booklet with the lyrics of the songs in Japanese. As far as I am concerned, it is worth every penny!
Best Anime CD in awhile.......2007-04-19
I love this CD! I watched the first 118 episodes of the show and grew to LOVE the theme songs. I wanted them so bad but Amazon has too high a price for this cd, so I bought it used from one of the sellers. I got the cd in perfect condition for half the listed price for a new one, and just wanted to comment on one of the previous feedbacks about the DVD issues.
First off, this listing is for the CD ONLY, at least for the used copies. There is another listing with the CD/DVD combo here on Amazon. So if you want the DVD as well, make sure to look at both listings carefully or you will pay the same price and only get half of the packege, unless you buy used.
But I do say that the price is worth it to fans of the show who are farther along then the english dubbed episodes, because many of the theme songs are from later episodes. Hope this helps anyone interested in the CD.
Greatest CD ever!.......2007-04-05
I love this CD so much. It's all I listen to right now. I play it in the car on the way to work and then put it into my computer and listen to it alla day at work. The artwork on the cover is very cool too. Well worth the price!

Great compilation - and that's just the first half........2005-09-14
I first got this on cassette in the summer of '94 and listened to it every day, drawn by its thematic range and compositional depth. And that was just side-one.
Elfman pioneered the sound that drives today's movie adaptations of comic-books and darker-themed children's stories. Side-One kicks things off with a rollicking, hyper-cartoonish theme from the first Pee-Wee movie - the one where Pee-Wee searches for his beloved bike. Elfman's theme contains layers of different rides - on tightropes, highways, in the middle of a NASCAR rally - which rudely yet melodically crash into each other.
The Batman entry actually contains several pieces - the opening credits, the extended sequence in the cathedral and the climax - which show Batman's darkened extreme at its "Frank Miller" best. (Dir. Tim Burton couldn't sustain the mood in the next sequel, and the franchise took a turn towards the camp of the TV series with the next 2 movies.)
The theme for "Dick Tracy" is perhaps the most romantic on this disc, a quality that surpasses the theme's comic-book origins, but ends on an ironic note that's pure Elfman.
"Beetlejuice" (opening & closing credits) gives Elfman's childish ID a chance to stretch its legs, or in this case, slam-dance.
"Nightbreed" is an enigma wrapped in a dark mystery, and that's just Elfman's score. Elfman's work on this movie is as good as the movie wasn't, having a more powerful narrative than the script - easily the best track on the entire disc, one likely to exceed the movie in its dose of chills.
"Darkman" doesn't quite rise to the occasion, though the score may be hobbled by the movie itself, which seldom surpassed one of the many "Batman" clones of the early 1990's. "Darkman" (the movie, I mean) excelled as a parody of many comicbook staples (the wronged hero, the relentless villain, the scientific breakthrough with just one flaw), but not enough to escape being largely anonymous. Within those constraints, it's still a moving if scary piece.
When is Elfman not like Elfman? When he was in the mid-late `80's and scored "Back to School" (A Rodney Dangerfield vehicle) and "Midnight Run". Horns in "School" bring it closer to Elfman's over-the-top style, while "Run" sounds like a love-theme for the run-down, out-of-the-way parts of America that seldom appear in Elfman-movies. "Run" is a fun score for a fun movie - it's nothing like Elfman's previous work but it perfectly captures the on-the-road-without-a-map craziness of the movie.
To this day, I don't know why I never ventured to Side-two, but it's irrelevant. Even half this disc is worth it
The best of Elfman!!!.......2005-09-05
I was obsessed about getting this CD right from when I heard about it. I found it at the library and was so excited about it, and it didn't let me down. In fact, it was a lot better than I expected. It's a fun and creepy (strange mix, but it really works!) collection of Danny Elfman's film and television soundtracks. The first track, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, is probably my favorite. Also, I really like Batman and Wisdom. Batman is creepy and dark, and Wisdom is just weird, in the best possible way.
I'd recommend this to anyone who likes film music, or everyone who is even the tiniest bit an Elfman fan. It's amazing!
Great Collection, A LIttle Too Eclectic.......2003-08-19
You should be able to tell from the movies and TV shows listed here whether or not you'd be interested in this collection. It's a little too eclectic for my tastes (hence only 4 stars) but better than volume 2. I think thatthe miscellaneous collected ites here along with the previously unreleased stuff should make this worth buying. Especially if you're a fan of Elfman's movie soundtrack work.
What Great Music.......2003-05-11
I fell in love with the music of Danny Elfman when Beetlejuice came out. There was something different about the music that he made. When Edward Scissorhands, and then Nightmare Before Christmas - I knew this man was a musical master. Its the verbal form of surrealism.
super.......2003-04-17
What a great CD. Danny's music is so original and inventive. this CD contains his pre 90's quirky, gothic music. it's all very well written and beautifully orchestrated. batman and darkman contain some really excellent long, dark, gothic cues that really take u away from reality. in my opinion no one, apart from howard shore, is as inventive and original as danny in the world of filmmusic. he far surpasses the repetitive works of williams or horner. buy this, and volume two, and keep supporting one of the greatest film composers of all time.ohh...and buy fellowship of the ring and two towers by howard shore....amazing work!

Album Description
%@#$!!? Brace yourself, super group Fantomas is back with a vengeance on their fourth album SUSPENDED ANIMATION. Unlike the epic DELIRIUM CORDIA, SUSPENDED ANIMATION likens itself with Fantomas' first record (self titled) punctuated with cartoon escapades.
The first edition (Limited to 25,000) is a spiral bound 30 page eye popping package illustrated by world famous Japanese painter Yoshitomo Nara. The theme is a calendar, the month of April, the tracks appropriately named the days of the week.

10/21/06: "Suspended Animation Review" day.......2006-10-22
Mike Patton has proven himself to be one of the most prolific and unpredictable musicians in show business in his post Faith No More/Mr. Bungle career. Although I don't even begin to attempt to collect everything he puts out I do like to take a listen to what he's up to now and then.
SUSPENDED ANIMATION is packed with hundreds of ideas, of varying degrees of success. Some "days" have better moments than others, like the spooky intro for "04/11/05 Monday" that sounds like a room full of gurgling ghosts, or "04/27/05 Wednesday" 's sleigh-ride in outer space. Most of the other intriguing moments on this CD involve some manipulation of found sounds or electronic toys.
Patton's former band, Mr. Bungle, was also a band renowned for it's musical spontaneity, but whereas Bungle's songs worked through it's own inner logic and fluidness, making it easier to digest, the disparate elements of SUSPENDED ANIMATION doesn't hang together nearly as well as the best of Bungle work. It's progression is more akin to rapid-fire channel-surfing than an epic motion picture.
Despite the low rating I'm assigning this release, I must admit that I'm not sorry I bought it. I rarely reach for this CD to play, and when I do it's just to seek out a handful of random tracks, just enough to satisfy a need to hear something wild and chaotic. Perhaps the calendar concept of the song titles was meant to be followed literally, to listen to one track each day. Compressing an entire "month" in 43 minutes is too demanding a listening experience.
Baby please.........2006-07-13
The technique of cutting and pasting strange sounds and bizarre segments into songs was used by Frank Zappa already during the 70's. But Fantomas succeds better at making listenable music out of it, and they add their own unique sound to it, much thanks to Mike Pattons vocals.
But I agree that a full disc of it (or at least 40 minutes) becomes a little bit annoying after a while. I found that the songs worked a lot better when I made a compilation tape, mixing the songs with other Patton related work, such as "Director's Cut" and Mr.Bungle.
"Suspended Animation" was the album that got me into Fantomas and Mr.Bungle. I was surprised to find out that Mike Patton once was the singer of Faith No More, a band I really tried to like many years ago, but that I found very boring and uninspiring. He has come a long way.
Awesome mind blowing!.......2006-06-13
I wouldn't expect anything less from Mike Patton and Co. A piece of art crafted from cartoon insanity. Their sound is like a kid making a "Mystery Pie" in the kitchen a mixture of cookie dough, paprika, OJ, Milk and Cap n' Crunch mixed in a pie tin and burned in the oven. Ingredients that don't mix. Some gag on the concotion others see the brillance of developing artist. I see the latter. I was left speechless after a listen to it. I love the damn thing! Not everybody's cup of tea and thats too bad.
CARTOON MADNESS!!.......2006-06-08
1. The entire record is metal and cartoon music/effects thrown together and spit at your bleeding ears.
2. Because of that some tunes are certainly better than others but the album as a whole is rad.
3. Perfet driving music when you're getting irritable with traffic.
4. Also good when whiskey is involved.
- a lot of whiskey.
5. Honestly only good if you are into crazy music.
6. ALthough not my favorite Fantomas (director's cut is still the best) it seriously just kills the first one and delerium cordia..
7. And no it doesn't sound anything like Mr. bungle sorry..

masterpiece, but..... .......2007-07-12
If you want to buy the right master, the japonese édition is the good one: this CD has the good master tapes. I bought the too version, the american is a disaster, this FM sound with a kind of reverb..., but the japonise import is the good one, like the vinyl quality. So listen to the best solo album from Jon Anderson, this is a truely masterpiece.
Excuse-me for the mistakes of langage, I am french!!!
Hope this will help you for the choice!
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CD.......2007-07-10
Very good cd, a little bright though. Even though "The Spell" is from a demo cassette it has resaonably good sound considering. Atlantic should have let Jon finish The Spell for the original record.
All the nay sayers here must have something wrong with their cd players.
Amazon needs to pull this off the shelf immediately.......2007-05-11
Originally this was a great sounding LP and I loved the Sancious-influenced Jon Anderson music. The fact is, there is tremendous musical talent on this album and they were recorded in the studio with high production values. This SHOULD sound incredible! It doesn't, just as everybody has said. Releasing a digitized vinyl version can do in a pinch (and unbelieveably the Russians do better work than this), so I didn't mind getting the iTunes download recently just for simplicity's sake. However, they have now found the original analog master tapes and every effort to put THAT out should be made and the record company should be replacing the poor quality, first issue CD. I'll say it again, they have found the original analog master tapes and every effort to put THAT out should be made and the record company should be replacing the poor quality, first issue CD. Where's the address? They won't answer my emails. It's a money grab. Do the right thing, Voiceprint. Release the real version. And pull this off the shelves immediately.
Again, they have now found the original analog master tapes and every effort to put THAT out should be made.
One Star for the "bait & switch".
early Jon..........2007-03-28
I remember buying this on vinyl, expecting another "Olias of Sunhillow". I also recall being initially disappointed. Now I know better. With all the great diverse product that Jon has released over the years since this, I had to pick it up for another listen. Fantastic songs! Jon doing some experimenting, musically, and doing it very well. The two bonus tracks are awesome. If I have any problem with this release, it's in the production. Not much in the way of low-end sound. The whole c.d. seems a bit 'tinny'. I had hoped that the remaster would have done something about that, but apparently not. Still, if you like what Jon has been doing, and love his lyrical spirituality, then by all means, pick this up. It's well worth it.
Best album next to Olias.......2007-03-10
I am Glad this is finally on cd ,and I think it sounds great.

Customer Reviews:
A Fabulous Introduction to Igor Stravinsky!!.......2004-05-19
Sony Music's "The Essential Igor Stravinsky" truly lives up to its title. This double-CD set includes nearly every important piece of work (either in part or in whole) by the great Russian composer. The set also presents the pieces in chronological order beginning in 1908 with "Fireworks" and ending in 1966 with his final piece, the short but simple "Owl and The Pussycat". In between, there are excerpts from Stravinsky's most famous works including the first part of "The Rite Of Spring" and highlights from the "Firebird" and "Petrushka" ballets. There are also lesser-known works included as well as his harmonically rearranged version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" (a rendition which caused a stir in the early 1940's). The entire collection concludes with a rare recorded interview with Igor Stravinsky himself in which he remembers the infamous premere of "The Rite Of Spring".
The CD booklet includes detailed liner notes as well as a written tribute by Trey Anastasio of the band Phish. The sound quality of the recordings is amazing (even on the historic 1934 recording of "Piano Rag Music"). All in all, this an excellent collection of works by the great Igor Stravinsky. In a sense, this compilation gives the composer the 'rock musician' treatment. It's a 'greatest hits' album and a career-spanning retrospective that serves as an ideal introduction to Igor's music. Even if your not a fan of Classical music, it isn't difficult to listen to the works of Stravinsky and not be stirred.
Definitely The Essential Igor Stravinsky!!!

Fantastic soundtrack you'll love long after you beat the game.......2007-07-17
You'd think that with the sheer number of hours I spent playing Final Fantasy Tactics, I wouldn't need the soundtrack to keep the game's majestic score running through my head. There was something about this particular soundtrack though, that made me sure I'd want to have it on hand long after I was finished with the game.
The soundtrack's best attribute is that it does far more than just bring to mind specific "scenes" from the game. It's a work of art in its own right, and is the perfect background music for the epic fantasy novels I tend to read (the Record of Lodoss War soundtracks also work great in this regard).
Another thing that sets this soundtrack apart from a lot of other video game soundtrack is that it sounds like a film score. You hear an orchestra rendering a well-crafted symphonic score, not a cheap, synthesized version full of "bloops" and "bleeps". The Final Fantasy Tactics soundtrack isn't just the audio version of the game, but is a unique soundtrack on par with any of today's Hollywood scores.
If you're a serious fan of the game, you'll want to check out this great soundtrack. It should also appeal to anyone interested in anime and/or epic fantasy scores.

Brilliant.......2007-06-07
John Petrucci has created an amazing work here. Jaws of Life really displays his prowess and greatness. Glaskow Kiss is extremely musical and well composed/performed - VERY memorable. The third song is my favorite on the CD - extremely excellent. It reminds me of Raspberry Jam Delta V by Joe Satrianni. In fact, much of the music here seems to be influenced by Joe in some way (which to me is a good thing).
Regardless, this is an excellent piece of work - I highly recommend it!!!
INCREDIBLE.......2007-01-13
If you are a fan of Dream Theater, Satriani, Vai, this is a must-have. Awesome!
good road trip album.......2006-12-11
I don't usually dig completely instrumental music, and at first listening to this album I was like "it's just not the same without James!" but this album has grown on me. I identify the most with vocalists, but JP's guitar playing gives me the chills and even without a singer to centralize it, I still like this album. "Jaws of Life" is cool, kind of shark-like and threatening. I used to think "Glasgow Kiss" (which has that Irish kind of tempo) was corny, but now I like its positive energy and every time I'm driving around on a sunny day I'm like "quick! Put on Glasgow Kiss!" "Tunnel Vision" is another one that stands out (and it was cool going through a tunnel listening to it). The two slow songs, "Wishful Thinking" and "Lost Without You" are the ones I listen to the least; I thought they're too much like "smooth jazz" but when I did listen all the way through I heard some things I liked. "Damage Control" has a riff that was very attention getting. "Curve" reminds me a lot of "Flying In A Blue Dream", but Joe Satriani was his hero I guess. "Animate Inanimate" is the longest song, good and kind of middle-eastern sounding. OK, so this isn't Dream Theater, of course it's not going to be as great as all the members of DT together with all their talent and diversity, but JP is still pretty great. It's not as intense of a listening experience as Dream Theater, but it's a good album for when you can't concentrate as intensely. Some people have told me they like to listen to this album at work. My family liked it when we were on a road trip and I also like it for driving.
Super Guitarist under achieves.......2006-11-21
JP is a great guitarist no question, but I'm afraid it's impossible to differentiate between his writing(and playing) on this album and any of the Mike Varney sponsored 'shred' albums of the eighties.
The backing tracks are formulaic, the ballads appear as expected, the exotic scales are in place, even some 'bluesy' playing - it's as if JP is trying to emulate the instrumental albums that shaped his listening and playing - too bad he didn't listen to some Jeff Beck!
Both Joe Satch and Steve Vai are referenced heavily in JP's playing, (no bad thing, every guitar player is influenced by somebody), but he fails to take it to the next level beyond their collective shadow.
As far as I am concerned, it is unimportant if a guitar player of JP's calibre opts to play one or a thousand notes, so long as a)he has something to say and b)he says it with his own voice. JP fails to achieve this here.
In summary: JP is awesome but fallible, he's only human after all.
awesome.......2006-11-02
Being a huge fan of Joe Satriani, but not so much one of Dream Theater, I hadn't heard of John Petrucci until I heard he did the G3 tour with Joe and Steve Vai. Then I heard he cut a solo instrumental album. Well, as far as I'm concerned, anyone Satch takes on tour with him must be pretty good, so I picked up the cd without having heard a single song on it. I was completely blown away. Petrucci is incredible. What a gifted guitar player. The opener, Jaws Of Life, sets the pace nicely. Glasgow Kiss is a lot of fun and appropriately named; it definitely has a Scottish feel to it. My favorite track is Curve. Wow, does this one rip through your speakers. The solo in this one is amazing. I've tried to get into Dream Theater without any success, but maybe it will soon click for me. What I do know for certain is that Mr. Petrucci is a sensational guitarist, and I hope that this isn't the only solo effort from this amazing musician.
