Immortal Maria Grever (hey, it's "Greever", not "Grever"!!!.......2004-10-03

Recently I got this CD from a friend of mine who happens to be a lovely and sensitive lady. Why did she get me this CD? Well, I had told her about the great love songs of Mexican composer Maria Greever and about that "Libertad Lamarque Interprets Maria Greever" album that my Dad had when I was a child. I grew up listening to the songs of Maria Greever sung by Libertad Lamarque. But now I own this CD where 9 out of 10 songs are interpreted by artists other than Lamarque. Although Lamarque will always be my favorite, it is a pleasure to be able to say that these other artists that also performed Maria Greever's songs did a beautiful job. This is a fine, outstanding CD, don't miss it. Let me end by saying that it's "Greever", not "Grever". Maria Greever of Mexico (1885-1951) belongs in the composer big leagues of the likes of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Ernesto Lecuona, Irving Berlin, Miguel Matamoros, Agustin Lara. There will be plenty of Maria Greever for many years to come. (End).
