The modern real deal.......2007-04-24

The Mariach Vargas de Tecalitlan has been around since 1897 but was then known only as Mariachi Vargas. Some people still refer to them by the same name. This the fouth generation of Mariach Vagas as presented here on these recordings. This is a great collection , even though it is a little skimpy on material, of great Mexican mariachi. Known as the best mariachi group in the world it is hard to argue with longevity and their magnificent interpretations. Each song is great, the arrangements are top notch and the chosen songs are superb and lesser known for the most part. Beginning with "El Viajero" your fiesta begins with one of their best songs. When Mariach Vargas sings " Amo Esta Tierra" it comes fromn the heart as they love their country and sing to the heavens about it and want everyone to know the beauty of Mexico. The huapango " Que Viva Veracruz II" is one of those songs that livens up a household and kicks everyone into a good mood. This is a great disc and one that belongs in your mariachi collection. Recommended for aficionados of fine mariachi music.

This was a good cd and I recomend to to all Mariachi Vargas lovers. "El Viajero", "La Fiesta Del Mariachi", "Me Haces Falta", "Veracruz 2", and "Mi Chatita" are the songs I liked the most.

El Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán has been known to bring great entretainment and sentiments of patriotism to the mexican people throughout different eras. This CD is perhaps my favorite out of all the ones I have from this excelling group. "El viajero" and "Amo esta tierra" bring forth a sense of patriotism and knowledge of the beauty of our Mother-Land. Other great songs on this CD are the lesser-known Agustín Lara's "Me hace falta tu amor" and the tear-inducing "A esa mujer." El Vargas de Tecalitlán shows why they are the best at what they do and fearlessly explore the frontiers of their music. ¡Qué viva el Vargas!
