He comprado este disco por esa canción, Luna, la había escuchado uno o dos veces y su estribillo es lo único que recordaba, lo canté solo una vez a mi hija de dos años y enseguida se le quedó dentro, no hay vez que no cante la canción a voz alta y con pasión cuando ve la luna. Lo recomiendo y no por eso, Mercedes Sosa tiene una voz particular, no se confunde con otra, es bella, te toca las fibras del alma, a veces me olvido de la letra de las canciones y me dejo solo llevar por su voz. Yo ya la conocía claro y ciegamente compro cualquier disco de ella, pero lo recomiendo a cualquier persona que busque una cantante latinoamericana.

Mercedes is the Greatest!.......2001-09-23

What can you say about a lady with such a powerful and yet delicate voice who can still keep it up after so many decades on the stage? And Mercedes Sosa is a native American i.e. "Indian", it's rare that someone from that background succeds as much as Mercedes has done.
And she's proud of it! One song on this album, "Cinco Siglos Igual" chronicles the destuction of the Americas in the 500 since Columbus, but does so in an elliptical, poetic, moving fashion.
This particular album is pure pleasure and fascination, never a dull song. She belts out the definitive rendition of "La Ultima Curda"(The Last Binge), and the orchestra really takes you along for the ride; the song compares the churning of a drunkard's innards to the churning of the mud on the bottom of the River Plate! So it's good that she also includes inspirational songs like "Dale Alegria a mi Corazon". She turns almost operatic in "Caruso", while "La Solitaria"'s frenetic passion will sweep you off your feet-as will "LLegadas y Despedidas", in which she compares the bustle of the world to a busy railway platform.
Honestly, she can sing in any style. A pity this disc isn't easily available; it ought to be a classic.
I also have or had an old cassette by her called "Amigos"; will that ever be re-released? or any of her other great stuff from the 1970's, like Mil Novecientos Navedades? Just wondering.

Joris Voorn is was Voted Most Promising DJ in the Netherlands and He Hails from Rotterdam. Being Raised in a Musical Family, Music Became a Big Part of his Life. In his Early Days Joris Played the Violin for Over Eight Years, and Later on Changed to Guitar. Around 1995 Electronic Music Caught his Attention When for the First Time He Listened to Music from Artists Like Orbital, Underworld, Leftfield and the Orb. Getting Deeper Into the Music When He Started DJ'ING in 1997, Voorn Developed an Interest in Deeper Techno and House. Concerning his Background, Voorn Started Thinking About Making his Own Music and Bought the Versatile MC-303 Groovebox to Experiment with Synth Sounds and Drumloops. This Full Length Debut Album features a Wide Range of Tracks that Voorn Has Recorded in the First Years of the Century.

Top notch Techno, not to be missed!.......2005-07-13

Jooris Voorn is a seriously talented Techno producer. This is an incredibly consistent album, not a dud track on it. Track of the moment, 'Incident' is a good indicator to the style of this album. No doubt some of the best Detroit techno I've heard in while. If you are a Jeff Mills or Detroit Techno fan in general, do not miss this album. This album is also a great intro to this style of techno. If you are a fan of electronica or dare I say a Trance fan, widen your horizons and give this CD a listen!

This CD gives you that feeling back of your first rave party. Remember Carl Cox in the old days? Or how about Steve Rachmad with Tons of Tones? A little Detroit techno mixed with warm tonal soundscapes. There is really not one song on this CD I don't like. This one doesn't come cheap but I'm sure it will stay in your cd-player for a long time.

Clasicos de las Americas has Good Gottschalk.......2004-02-23

This six CD set has the Central and South American greats, but I prefer the North American who did some of his best composition South of the border. Louis-Moreau Gottschalk had the life of a modern day Rock Star. He is joined in this set by such prominent players as Heitor Villa-Lobos, George Gershwin, Augustin Barrios, and Carlos Guastavino. George Rabol is a favorite pianist.
