LITTLE JOE AT HIS VERY BEST.......2004-06-03

This is the truly great work of La Familia because it features some of the best sound arrangements produced by the group. It also features the splendid voices of Little Joe and Johnny which we all miss. This was the sound that made people dance and get truly involved with the music; something that can't be done nowdays with keyboards and a six piece band. If you want the best from Little Joe,try this CD on for size. It's like a good beer------YOU CAN'T PUT IT DOWN-----------------------------JULIAN A. ORTA SR.

Just another band from Buenos Aires.......2002-03-18

This band show their influences on their sleeves on this double CD compilation of tracks from 8 CDs. There are two bonus tracks, a remix of the excellent 'Mal bicho' and a mellow live singalong rocker, 'Igual a quien'.

I was deceived by the particapation of Mick Jones into thinking that the style of The Clash was the only well from which they drank. Instead, they show their assimilation of Madness, the Skatalites, the Beatles and Fishbone as well as the rhythms of Latin America such as Brazilian samba and drum choirs and tango from their native Argentina. Their version of 'Strawberry Fields Forever' is first rate with guest vocals by Deborah Harry of Blondie and tasty horn solos set to a strict ska tempo. Even my 75 year old mother likes that one!

It should be noted that the track listing for the second CD is incorrect and that most tracks on both discs are real corkers, as we say on my planet! Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are leaders of the 'rock en espagnol' (Rock in spanish) movement and my guess is that Los Lobos have a lot to answer for and that these boys deserve the praise. You don't need to speak Spanish to enjoy this album, but you do need to know how to have....FUN!

me parece que un disco excelente ya que siempre se han identificado por su ritmo latino con mesclas de salsa y ska .. me parece que es el mejor grupo en este genero y yo recomiendo todos los cds...

I would like to recommend this cd and especially "rey azucar" to everyone who likes ritmolatino. The music really makes me happy and I can not listen to it without moving my buttom.

Since i listened this compilation i havent stopped to play it. The music elements that this latin band uses is simply awesome. you can find infinity of styles like ska, reggae, rock and a lot more... the really fans of los fabulosos cadillacs will not find a real deal buyin' it, except for the 2 unedited songs, but for all the others that want to pick a real winner grab this cd inmediately!!!!

Dos En Uno - "Rocio Banquells (1985)" & "Entrega Total (1987)".......2006-09-14

This CD is not really a compilation, but rather 2 complete albums from her Warner Brothers years mixed up in a random order.

However, the last review of this album was not lying when discussing the awful sound quality of this CD. It does indeed sound like a treble-less muffled recording, reminiscent of cassettes. I don't understand WEA's lack of professionality in releasing this CD at such awful quality. I know they could have tracked down a better master of this. Both these recordings have been available for some time in Mexico on CD and do not sound this bad!

But I give this album 3 stars merely because I know these two recordings are not entirely easy to find in the U.S. and I'm glad that people are at least able to have these songs in some form. Especially after all the exposure Rocio has received after appearing on the reality show "Cantando por un sueño".

It's not an awful sound...but I know they could have found better sounding masters of these songs.

I hope WEA releases a REAL "Greatest Hits" CD soon with songs from her other albums on that label, like her gem "Con El (1986)" which featured one of her biggest hits "No soy una muñeca"

Victim of bad remastering .......2006-07-06

First and foremost, in the same fashion that Andrew Lloyd Webber's office considers Rocio the Mexican "Evita," I've always considered myself Rocio Banquells #1 fan in North America. She is one of the best soprano voices to come out of Mexico. There is no doubt that Warner put out this CD to capitalize on the newfound fame and respect for her voice on the Mexican show "Cantando Por Un Sueno," especially since she and Warner had a bitter parting in 1989. Warner compiled this CD from two of her early albums for them. In actuality, this CD consists of two albums in their entirety: the first pop and the first ranchera albums. Though the songs are interspersed, it's the pop songs that suffer from bad mastering, sounding as if lifted off a bad audio cassette, the hissing evident from the first track. The ranchera songs sound okay in quality at best...but not much different that the way they sound on the original "Entrega Total" ranchera CD. No joke here: I own the pop cassette and it sounds better than whatever Warner was left with, since she and her husband left with most rights and the master recordings. Rocio's soaring soprano is evident and I give it the five stars it deserves. It's a voice that has been complimented by Madonna and Barbara Streisand when she recorded broadway standards on the CD "Un Sueno Alguna Vez Sone." Barbara lent her the microphone and Madonna was recording songs for the "Dick Tracy" movie in the same studio in L.A. where Rocio was recording. Ms Banquells deserves better quality than this and I'm sure she'll soon get it after winning on the TV show. For a better complilation with much better sound and remastering, pick up "Coincidir" or "Ellas Cantan Asi."

LA MÁS GRANDE !!!.......2004-09-17

Y qué decir de VALERIA... Considero que es "La Número 1 Indiscutida" en lo suyo. Esta recopilación es absolutamente recomendable para todos aquellos que la conocen, como para aquellos que poco o nada saben de ella. Más aún lo es para mis hermanos latinoamericanos, como mi amigo David Montoya -de Colombia- que es fan suyo, pero debido a esas cosas raras de las discográficas, no pueden acceder a todo el material de un artista de los kilates de Valeria, ya que no lo editan en sus países. Incluso la difusión de sus obras es en muchos casos, nula.

A todos ellos les cuento que la LYNCH interpreta baladas, tangos y otros ritmos COMO NINGUNA !!! Baladas como "Qué Ganas de No verte Nunca Más", "Fuera de Mi Vida", "Señor Amante", "Arráncame la Vida" (de Ricardo Montaner) o "Piensa en Mí"; tangos como "Nostalgias" o "Los Pájaros Perdidos" (de Astor Piazzola) y otros ritmos como la lambada "Una Historia para Contar", el tema de Michael Sembello "Caravana de Sueños", el clásico de Alberto Plaza "A Cualquier Precio" o el súper pegadizo "Baila Conmigo". Además de excelente intérprete con una voz privilegiada, Valeria es muy buena compositora; y así lo demuestra en "Esa Extraña Dama", "Luz de mis ojos" y la fabulosa "Río Revuelto".

Todos estos temas y más, los vas a encontrar en este compilado de RCA. No lo dudes ni un instante y corré a comprar este CD de VALERIA que está ESPECTACULAR !!!
