If like me, you have been following this series from the beginning, you`ll know that there have been a few dodgy tracks, let alone cd`s in the recent past, well thankfully BRUNO seems to have taken time out and reflected upon this. What we have here is a welcome return to the ambient tunes, which quite literally takes you off to that happy place in your mind, where nothing can disturb you, absolute Chillout at it`s best, but not lullingly, a little more up-tempo type than say the balearic style. Of course thats my opinion, and no doubt there will be opposition, but please dont hesitate, this really is a worthwhile purchase.

Too many vocals.......2006-02-24

I'm a fan of the Cafe del Mar series and love it for its atmospheric internationalism. I find that most vocals, though, bring the music too much into the foreground. Or, perhaps my taste is just shifting away from CdM...

Interesting and Solid But More New Age Than "Chill".......2006-01-15

Chill really should be a dance oriented tracks for the day after ... these are pleasant tracks but they tend to be more New Age tracks - nice but not chill in the sense of the previous CD's in the set and not in the dance music sense.

Now, if you're a DJ looking for chill-like tracks you can manipulate, twist and drop these on top of other beats - this CD should do the trick for you but for straight listening - not really properly 'chilled,'

Some people like the earlier Cafe Del Mar compilations, and I have some earlier ones myself (5 and 8, for example). And certainly those compilations had some great tracks on them, often from very famous artists. But for some reason, I'm really enjoying some of these later Cafe Del Mar releases even more. They seem a bit more cohesive and this one in particular doesn't have any tracks that start to get tired after awhile. Maybe it's because I don't know the tracks already from other compilations, so every track is a surprise.

This CD is a great abum to put on when you have friends over for drinks and conversation...or just if you want to chill by yourself. Every time I listen to it, I hear something that I didn't before. I highly recommend it.

Evoluciones - is a great song which talks of the current mexican situation, pretty revolutionary. 3/5

Esta colección de Les Luthiers es una de sus mejores obras, a pesar de no contar con un gran número de piezas. Es uno de sus discos en estudio, grabado (creo) en 1976.

"Teresa y el Oso" es una pieza narrada que cuenta la historia de la búsqueda del príncipe que realiza la princesa, y los avances del oso 'libidinoso' -- una ingeniosa representación de diversos animales utilizando los ya famosos instrumentos diseñados y construidos por el grupo (Tubófono Silicónico Cromático, Dactilófono, Yerbomatófono d'amore, entre otros).

"Mi aventura por la India" habla no del país, sino de una indiecita (indieciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiita) de la que se enamora el cantante.

"Yegua mia" es una 'triunfo/empate' entre dos cantores que discuten las bondades de su yegua, ambos con opiniones encontradas, pero siempre hallando un punto intermedio en sus puntos de vista.

"Doctor Bob Gordon shops hot dogs from Boston" es una obra instrumental del género foxtrot, utilizando, nuevamente, los particulares instrumentos de la banda.

"Serenata Mariachi" es el encuentro entre dos enamorados de la misma mujer, que luchan por su amor mediante una serenata de marichis, con un final inesperado.

Tremendo disco de Michael Stuart. Todas las canciones son buenas, el tema 5 es regular. Las mejores canciones son "Casi Perfecta", "Inexplicablemente", "Tu No Me Dejes Nunca" y "Tu Hijo Se Muere" un tema social con Vico C rapeando presente.

Legend in the Making!!!.......2001-07-12

Michael Stuart is a legend in the making..."Subeme el Volumen" is the young sonero's third album that delivers the goods of what salsa music is all about...making the listener feel the passion in the music and in the vocals. This album definitely does that! Michael has a great voice and the arrangements by Angel "Cucco" Peña are absolutely awesome. Tie that in with wonderful, romantic lyrics and you have yourself a great album. From the beginning to the end this album delivers. "Inexplicablemente" "Tu No Me Dejes Nunca"(Salsa Version), and "Facil de Amar" are by far the hottest tracks on this CD. But you can't ignore the other tracks...believe me you'll be wanting to "turn up the volume" when you hear this album. Watch out for Michael Stuart, he is definitely a legend in the making!

Who says pretty boys are shallow?.......2005-12-11

Volumen Cero occupies a privileged position as my favorite rock-en-español band whose name suggests they don't actually make sound (other contenders include Heroes del Silencio and El Gran Silencio).

"Estelar" hits that sweet spot of alt-rock bliss - north of indie-garage-band, south of corporate, not too noisy, not too precious. The songwriting is every bit as consistent and inspiring as the material on their major-label debut, "Luces" - these guys are obviously in touch with their muse, as guitarist Marthin Chan writes so much good stuff that he has top-flight songs left over for his English band Popvert and EMI's great bilingual prospect JD Natasha.

The result is that Volumen Cero is either a group you like or you love. It's really hard to find them offensive in any way, unless maybe you were in a fight with them.

There are a few annoying moments, however. The otherwise gorgeous "A Donde Quiera Que Voy" (not written by the band) is so lavish in its praise for some deity or other that it almost gives off a cult-like "My Sweet Lord" vibe. Also, during a 5/4 bridge that would otherwise inoculate the guys from "pretty-boy" criticism, they violate the rock ethos a bit by using vocal overdubs to "flawlessly" execute a vocal line that leaves no space for breaths. You guys aren't LU, ok?

"Universe" is another outstanding song marred by an unusually sacchariney vocal performance from Luis Tamblay and a corny opening line: "I am lost in our universe, can anyone hear me?" V.C. phone home? Oh, and the floating-eyebrows album cover isn't exactly "Abraxas," either.

But on balance, "Estelar," is, well, stellar; it absolutely deserved its Latin Grammy nomination and as far as I'm concerned should've won the trophy.

ESTELAR es el titulo del nuevo cd de esta super banda, en este disco se escucha a volumen cero con un sonido bastante potente en las guitarras, letras de una calidad bastante buena, una produccion de once temas,algunas de las canciones que me gustan en particular son: autos, despiertame, bailarinas, diviso, a donde quiera que voy, si tu deseas, biscayne, practicamente el disco esta super recomendable, yo pienso que esta banda tiene mucho que ofrecer y aportar al mundo del buen rock en espanol, [que ultimamente es un poco limitado] uno de los mejores lanzamientos en lo que resta de este ano.en este disco se escucha una madurez musical bastante notable, martin cha definitivamente ha logrado una identidad unica en la guitarra, asi como fernando sanchez en la bateria, y luis tamblay como primera voz, un trabajo bastante bien logrado.

Best of Volumen Cero ... So far.......2005-02-14

I have always heard about Volumen Cero but they didnt really get my attention until they did The Cure's "Love Song" in spanish. So I bought Luces, but wasn't too impressed. Then I bought Estelar and didn't think it was that great either, but a friend had one of their songs from Andromeda on his ipod and I thought wow this song is better than anything on both of their lates cds. The song was Jugete. So I began searching and had some trouble, I guess they didnt make many copies of their first album. After a while I found it and now play it all the time. Just about every song is a good one. I highly recommend this cd to everyone that likes alternative rock... thats not too heavey!

I've looked for the Andromeda cd everywhere & I finally found & I'm very pleased with its content. Andromeda sounds very different from Luces. Luis' voice sounds beautiful & I recommend this cd to anyone who likes spanish rock!

Volume Cero's music is original and addicting.......1999-05-04

The first time I heard Volumen Cero was at a live performance. They were the opening act for a band that I went to see. When I first heard their music I was captivated by the originality and great quality of their music. Right after the performance I bought their CD Andromeda which soon became one of my favorite CD's. Their song 15 anos is one of my favorite songs. This song is very futuristic and soulful, almost other worldly and very refreshing. Their music is very original and fresh unlike most of the other music that has been coming out. Volumen Cero's music is definitely the sound of the new millenium.

Tamblay's clear, fresh voice stands out........1998-08-24

Luis Tamblay's fresh voice stands out in Volumen Cero's Andromeda. This group is not a completely new sound; at least not yet. But there's quality here. Opening to most cuts sound thin, but overall, the arrangments are coherent and the tunes rythmic and memorable. The greatest strength is in the lead singer's crystal clear voice (a voice that sounds like it will only get better and better) and interesting lyrics presenting a young and incisive point of view. There's a detachment to the lyrics that serves as counterpoint to intense moments, remembering how he made someone cry or not remembering a face or a goodbye. That detachment also works well in presenting lots of sexual and space age imagery. Favorite cuts: La queen, Navaja, Monica's pullman.

A mixture of stuff I've already heard before -no originality.......1998-06-17

Volume Cero, formerly Orgasmic Bliss, puts out an album filled with cliches from the eighties. I was excited about their album coming out but dissapointed with it - extremely dissapointed... They label themselves as innovators but all they do is copy others.
