....then you probably don't have a pulse. Every song is eminently danceable, and the band never sounded tighter. What's amazing is that is not a compilation CD, it was an album released in 1958, a true CLASSIC.

Pure BIG Band Salsa.......2003-05-25

This is true big band sound salsa, before the name salsa became popular. Originally released in 1958, You can go back and feel how great this music was back then and still feel the how great it still is today. This tells you this is a treasure chest of great music. Just enjoy and dance as if he is playing at the good old days at the Palladium Dance night,in NYC. The recordings allow you to hear clearly every instrument that was played and precise harmony of the full orchestra. Be carefull playing this while driving in the car, you will be force to pull over and dance a few cuts.

One of Tito's tightest and most soulful albums, with sharp-sounding horn charts and funky rhythms galore. Recording with the full technical expertise of the RCA studios behind him, Puente's late '50s albums had much richer, better defined sound than competitors on smaller, independent labels, and the brass tones that distort into distorted shrillness on other albums are smooth and clear here. Great material, and a ton of tight session players who were the cream of the crop in the latin dance scene. Highly recommended!

Aqua remixes are awesome. Some of the remixes are better than the actual songs. After listening to this CD, you will want to get up and dance to the cool techno-ish beat. This is REALLY worth the high price of an import. Any Aqua fan should definetly buy this CD! Take my advice! A++++

This is an excellent choice for any Aqua fan! ..if you enjoy good up-beat damce music this cd is for you! DJ's have taken Aquas creative music and transformed them into music that you can't sit down to! ...great for parties, and DJs...also includes the prevoiusly unrealesed track "Didn't I"...an excellent song...very catchy....this cd is certainly well worth your money!

I'm a huuuge Aqua-fan, and I love all their songs, and I've always been wondering what they would sound like if they got remixed. Well, I got the answer by buying this CD. There are very many good remixes, but I miss the verse on very many songs. The Perky Park Club Mix of "Barbie Girl" is good, but where is the rest of the song? I can only hear the refrain! Some of the other remixes are like this too, but my favourite remix is the Metro Scuba Club Mix of "Turn Back Time". This fine ballad has been remixed into a catchy dance tune! The CD-ROM-videos are also very good. The "Barbie Girl"-video is my favourite!

Nostagic sounds on CD.......1999-07-07

This CD perfectly demonstrates the wonders of technology. Having struggled to listen to a gradually deteriorating taped version of SINA MAKOSA, that classic by LES WANYIKA, since the early 1980's, I am now able to enjoy this and other equally exceptional classic recordings on CD. The quality of guitar playing, the rythmn, melodies and harmonies of these songs is exquisite. They have soul. To anyone with memories of Kenyan music in the 70's and 80's, or anyone who wants to acquaint themself with this spirited music, this album is a blessing.(Also check out LES WANYIKA's new CD AMIGO (CLP001).)

After years of looking through CD bins in search of this title, and only coming up with the commonplace "Volume 1," I was delighted to see that Tito Puente's "Dance Mania Volume 2" had finally been reissued. Well it certainly was worth the wait because now it's available at a budget price to boot! Both of the "Dance Mania" Volumes are an essential look at the classic Afro-Cuban music of late 1950s and early 1960s. "Volume 2" boasts classic cuts like "A Gozar Timbero," "Guancona," "Separala Tambien" and "Baila Como Es." You have to be dead not to feel this multi-layered rhythmic groove, but the musicianship of Tito Puente and His Orchestra is also spectacular, so it appeals to both your mind and body. You'll be dancing in the streets after purchasing "Dance Mania Volume 2."

THE BEST ARABIC FUSION DANCE ALBUM IN THE WORLD.......2004-12-11

I have to admit that I read reviews before I buy an Album. One of the reviews,the only review on all the sites I visited, claimed that another CD is better than this one. To tell you the truth, I owned that CD, before I gave it away to a friend, and it is not even 1/5 the quality and feel that this Album has, and that DJ is using Louie's music on his Album, which is enough evidence to show who is better.

Anyways, This Album gives you everything from Hip Hop, Trance, Tribal, Dabbkeh in a way that makes you Dance from the first track to the last. There are 10 tracks on the Album with some remixes, and that is normal for Arabic albums which usually contain 7-8 tracks, but this one is not just about 1 song and the rest is nothing, every song is great and has a unique style.

I highly recommend this Album and trust me, you will love every track on it.

An EP CD masquerading as a full-length CD.......2004-12-05

First, my main complaint with this dance album is the length: the total time on this CD is only 45 minutes---and that's rounding UP! In the liner notes, the artist apologizes for taking "so long to realize this album." Perhaps he should have spent a little MORE time coming up with enough original material to fill a CD. Now, on to the songs themselves. If you like hip hop music, you'll probably like the first two tunes; otherwise, like me, you'll skip to the 8 remaining songs. Of those songs, three are remixes (you can do the math). One of these remixes is touted as being an "extended" version, from 3.5 minutes to 5.5 minutes---two whole minutes more! On the otherwise lively instrumental track "Oasis," a female voice periodically interrupts the song to proclaim, "Oasis," seemingly only to alert the listener to the ingenious title of the song. On the song "Shake It" another spoken voice has to continually remind the dancer to "shake it." Note to artist: in a dance tune, if the folks aren't already shaking it, then you haven't done your job. These vocal inserts are redundant and distracting. The song "Move Your Belly (Live)" also appears on THE FAR SUPERIOR ALBUM "ONE THOUSAND & ONE NIGHTS" BY SAID MRAD. CHECK THIS ONE OUT INSTEAD!!! For my tastes, this CD should have been edited down to the 4-5 good dance tunes (with no filler "remixes") and released as an EP (and cheaper) CD. Or, maybe I should just have waited for the releases of the REAL extended dance singles (if they come out) of the handful of songs I like here.

THE EAR HAS NEVER HEARD THIS...AND WILL NEVER FORGET IT!!!.......2004-11-04

When I bought the CD "Everyday", I listened to it at 4:00am in the morning on a disc-man. I wasn't prepared for what my ear was about to experience. I could not turn it off. I was tired and could not stop listening. This new sound that Louie pioneered captured my imagination and spirit. Louie has always been a trailblazer and soul mover when it comes to music. On "Everyday", Louie nails every cut with hits that I believe main stream DJs and radio will have to spin and play. I am certain that there will be a ground swell all over the world and that "Everyday" will become the "Thriller" in the Middle East and bring Middle Eastern music to an audience that has never listened to Middle Eastern music before. "Move Your Belly" is sure to become a show stopping epic (reminiscent of "Aisha" and "DiDi" by Khaled)...the song that you play when you want everyone to scream and pack the dance floor. "Shake It" will be a must play in night clubs and lounges all over the world. Last but not least, "Everyday" will hit pop radio and finally bring the real Arabic vibe to main stream radio. Mark my word, other pop artist will try to emulate Louie's sound. The world should thank and applaud Louie for giving a brand new sound to the world that will move not only your belly but also you BUTT

TRULY ONE OF A KIND.......2004-09-23

I have been a DJ for over 15 years, and I have heard it all. But I have never heard any Fusion CD similar to this. This CD is a MUST for anyone. It starts with Belly dance and HIP HOP fusion (Belly HOP), then you get into R&B and HIP HOP with middle eastern fusion, then Dabbkeh and after that TRUE club sound blended with Ethnic instruments like nothing you have heard before.

I Rate this Album as 200 out of 100 and I admire the Artist/ Producer (Louie) who put it together.
This is a work of art and it is going to be a global hit.

This is the most outstanding remaster of 1958's Dance Mania, boasting Tito Puente at the peak of his popularity and the height of New York mambomania in the late 1950s. The sound quality of the collection is incredible, capturing with vivid clarity the sentient brass, lush layers of percussion, and big-band interplay on some of the most superb interpretations of Cuban son montuno, bolero, guaguancó, cha cha, and mambo. The Best of Dance Mania saunters and struts with a sensual Cuban passion that makes one want to grab a partner and mambo in pumps and beehive across the living room floor. But these are only a few of the reasons to adore this CD. Some of the greatest Cuban musicians were in Tito's big band at this time: vocalist Santitos Colon and his classic, silken voice; Ray Barretto and Francisco Aguabella and their surefooted congas; and a youthful Doc Severinsen--not to mention the astounding timbale and vibe work from Tito himself. Note to collectors: contrary to the Allmusic website review, this compilation does not feature all the master tracks from both "Dance Mania" Lps, though it features 2/3 of them, plus a few alternate takes. Specifically, 9 of the 12 tracks on "Dance Mania" (rec. 1957) are here, and 8 of the 14 from the follow-up, "Dance Mania Vol. 2" (rec. 1960).
But you have probably already figured that out, as the CD is titled "Best of..." Not being a Puente expert, I don't know if it's a good tradeoff or not, having six alternate takes instead of the 9 original Lp tracks that are missing. But it's great music, remastered well, and can be had for a bargain from marketplace sellers.

HOT CD.......2005-08-17

On July 17, 2005 I purchase Tito Puente's The Best Dance Mania & Dancemania 99, Live at Birdland If you're a Salsa/Mambo ON1or ON2 you are going to love these two CD's. The music back in the day has that perfect tempo to get your boogie on, so Mambo lover these are 2 hot CD's. Eddie from JC

I was searching for just the right party music for a small gathering. Dancemania was so popular with my guests that after five minutes the furniture was moved and the dance began! Lets Mombo!!

I grew up in The Bronx where the party didn't begin until the Tito Puente Dance Mania was heard. This CD still holds up as one of the best Salsa recording around. The live performances I was able to attend watching Tito Puente; Tito Rodriguez and Machito are priceless memoriesI will never forget and this CD brings back those memories.

Fantastic album, the best of the best in the LOUD-AND-HAPPILY-ECSTATIC-AS-HELL-FOR-NO-APPARENT-REASON-EXCEPT-THAT-THE-NIGHT-IS-YOUNG-AND-DANCING-AND-ROMANCING-ARE-DEFINITE-POSSIBILITIES-HANGING-IN-THE-AIR genre of Cuban music. I don't have volume 1 yet, but almost every song on volume 2 is a classic demonstration of everything authentically Latin and Street-Wise that came out of the New York Jazz scene in the '50s. The musicianship is tops and the horn players are the best of the period. The only other records I've personally heard that reach this level and combination of purity, Dancibility and substance are "The Best of Irakere on Mundo Latino," and "Willie Colon pressents Ruben Blades,"

Great follow up to DanceMania.......2000-10-19

Well I just finshed listening to DanceMania Volume 2 and I have to say it was great Tito Puente has done it again with his latin music and putting a little bit of jazz in it as well. Alot of great songs that include A Gozar Timbero, Baila Como Es ands the title track DanceMania. So if your in the mood to dance or just have fun this is the cd for you.
