FINALLY A DECENT SONY GORME REISSUE.......2007-04-25

I was hesitant at purchasing this 2CD reissue, as so many previous Sony reissues rehash the lovely recordings with Trio Los Panchos, that they've been trampled to death. In this set, all of Eydie's Sony Latin recordings are covered, making this a definitive Best Of. Granted, you cannot have everything. The Spanish Version of "Blame It On The Bossa Nova" (Culpame De La Bossa Nova) is missing, and the packaging is not up to par (outside box, but no Jacket booklets or inserts for the CDs (same for a 3CD set done on Vikki Carr). The music is the star here, as it covers from 1964-1992, and all four Sony Latin releases. There are songs from Amor, More Amor, De Corazon De Corazon and Eso Es El Amor. Because the latter two albums are so hard to find on CD being out of print, it is nice to have remastered versions of some of these great tracks. The lovely duet with Roberto Carlos of Sentado A La Vera Del Camino is included, as is Mis Amores with Steve Lawrence from Eso Es El Amor.

For a complete set of the recordings with Trio Los Panchos, add the GL Release of Eydie's Amor and More Amor, a 2on1 album CD, to this great set. The Spanish "Blame It On The Bossa Nova" is available (but not sure if in print) on the Personalidad Series for Eydie Gorme Y Los Panchos (not the solo Eydie Gorme issue in the same series). This will probably have you at 95% in collecting Eydie's Sony Latin songs. Other GL releases include Eydie's other Latin recordings for other labels. GL is Steve and Eydie's own reissue label, as they own their own masters.

However you wish to handle your own Eydie Latin collection, this 2CD set by itself is a great start.

3 cds featuring a good selection of songs sung by the great Vicente Fernandez for less than 12 dollars ! This is really worth the money, even though it doesn't contain the most popular Vicente Fernandez songs, the songs here are great, and this is a must have set for any fan of Vicente.

A simply wonderful singer and a fine album.......2005-09-22

Milly Quezada deserves the over used title "Queen of Merenque", because her singing is technically about the best that is out there in the Latin singing world, and expressively, has few rivals. She has always shown herself to be extremely versatile in how she shades different styles of merengue and occupies the unique essence of every song.

Now Milly shows us that her way with bachata is at least as impressive, even more so. There is nothing more you could ask for in her wonderful phrasing, varied timbre, and perfect vocal delivery.

Manuel Tejada has provided us with superb arrangements, even by his amazing standards. The first four songs are really wonderful, from the plaintive "Penas", to the the ingratiating duet "Pideme", the delightful "Que se Mueren de Envida" and the lovely "Mesita de Noche." The next three songs are not quite in the class, but still very fine. There is also a Juan Luis Guerra song, and in no way does she copy his singing - she puts her own stamp on it, as does Tejada.

There follows a merengue Pideme, which is a nice variation, tho less good than the bachata. The merengue Un Nuevo Amor, is the least interesting track on the CD. I would have liked to have seen one or two more bachatas on this CD - with two "version" cuts, 10 tracks is a little slim, and the CD comes to a less important conclusion than I would like.

Despite this criticism, Tresoros de Mi Tierra is a must-have.

El disco es completamente bueno desde la primera cancion hasta la ultima. No dudaba que Milly hiciera un trabajo asi, pero es un trabajo musical increible. El arreglo, la combinacion de voces. De esta produccion clasifico como la canciones sobresalientes son: Pideme, Que Se Mueran De Envidia, Mesita De Noche, Dos Rosas, Antologia De Caricias, Un Nuevo Amor.

Este CD es increiblemente bueno. La "Reina Del Merengue" por fin grabo un disco de bachatas. Esta maravillosa produccion estuvo a cargo del maestro Manuel Tejada, para SONY. Una excelente variedad de romanticas bachatas que con la voz unica de Milly Quezada lo hacen un exito. Los mejores temas del disco lo son "Que Se Mueran De Envidia", "Pideme" (a duo con Fernandito Villalona), "Mesita De Noche", "Antologia De Caricias" y "Un Nuevo Amor". El disco tambien inluye el tema "Burbujas De Amor" del gran Juan Luis Guerra. Pero la REINA no se podia quedar sin incluir merengue en este disco "Tesoros De Mi Tierra", por tal razon se incluyeron las versiones en merengue de los temas "Un Nuevo Amor" y "Pideme" (a duo con Miguel Vasquez). Todos los temas estan excelentes y tienen unos arreglos unicos. Sinceramente Milly Quezada tiene voz para cantar de todo...merengue, balada, bachata, salsa y todo lo que se llame musica. Cuando hay talento y una voz como la de Milly todo es posible.

Tambien recomiendo el CD de la que a mi opinion sera la nueva "Reina De La Musica Tropical"...Jessica Cristina titulado "Pasional". Asi que si a ti como a mi te gusta Milly Quezada, te encantara Jessica Cristina. Te lo recomiendo.

Aqui hay algunas recomendaciones de otros discos de bachata: "Bachata Rosa" de Juan Luis Guerra, "Decidida" de Sonya Cortes, "Unplugged" de Monchy & Alexandra y "Corazon De Bachata" de Juan Manuel.

Milly Quezada is an excellent singer and her fans say that she's the Queen of the Merengue. In this time, we have a new album, but we can see that eight of the ten tracks are "bachatas", another dominican rhythm. Instead of that, Milly has given us a brilliant production, with beautiful songs, excellent arrangements and her unforgetable cheerful voice, plenty of sense and power. "Tesoros de mi tierra" can demonstrate that Milly does it always the best!

Wonderful and different selections, great sound.......2007-06-08

The 3CD treasury is unique in that the majority of selections are not the same "hits" that you see on other CD compilations of Cuco Sanchez. If you only know the Cuco Sanchez standards, this is a great CD to introduce you to more of the greatest Mexical singer.

The treasury includes some corridos such as Juan Charrasqueado, Las Pavorreales (Lucio Vasquez); Gabino Barrera; and Corrido de Monte Rey and Valentin de la Sierra.

The only song I recognize here that is always on his other collections is Corazoncito Tirano.

I especially like many of the popular songs that may or may not have been written by others, like: Las Gaviotas, Atotonilco, La Barca de Oro, Adios Mariquita Linda, Cartas Marcadas, etc.

Cuco sings with such passion as you will hear in Por Un Amor and Pobre Corazon. He has a beautiful soothing voice, and the music is excellent. This is a keeper as most of the music is remastered. .....MzRizz
