This is a very commercialized version of paraguayan songs. I'm from paraguay, and did not enjoy listening to this CD. I highly recommend Explorer Series: Paraguay - Guarani Songs and Dances
instead.

With its melodious rithm you can feel the sence of the beatiful fresh and warm life of central south america with its ucomparable sun & forrest along with its exotic and contagious melody. It's been an unexpected and a real pleasant surprise to find this album here

Paraguayan Harp.......2001-05-23

Much of the best performance (and solo performance at that) of masters of the Paraguayan harp has not yet found its way into the CD format in the international marketplace. This recording by Aldo Malaquias and his group "Iguazu" offers one of the best introductions to what is arguably the most brilliant style of folk harp as played in today's world. Other widely known styles of folk harp are the Irish/Scottish, the Welsh, the Mexican and the synthesis of traditional styles with contemporary styles heard in the work of such masters of the folk harp as Kim Robertson.

This album features traditional Paraguayan tunes, a composition or two by Aldo Malaquias and a treatment of a well-known Mexican song "La Feria de las Flores"-typical Mariachi fare-done as a Paraguayan "huapango". This is definitely music to relax with and has a good instumental mix for a recording done by a group, although as mentioned above, aficionados of the Paraguayan harp may well wish for the solo virtuoso performances that show the brilliance of the Paraguayan harp at its best. All in all, this album is a must for lovers of Paraguayan music, the folk harp and "Latin" music.

A Heavenly Atmosphere.......2004-01-23

That's what it feels like everytime I listen to this CD. It has the soft and relaxing blend of harp, guitar, flugelhorn, sax and more. Roberto's use of having these other instruments in his songs is what sets him above all other harpists that I've heard. Some of those joining in on this effort include Marc Antoine, Peter White, Richard Smith, and Tony Guerrero. There are a number of great cuts, but my favorites are Take Your Time, Hermosa, and Love The Way. This CD is worth checking out.

Good Mood Music.......2002-03-29

I listen to the selection entitled, "Joia" repeatly while driving my car. It's the most beautiful music I have ever hear. I think "Joia" offers a pleasant, soothing and warm beat. All of the artists are playing with lots of creative energy. Its a good mood (Good Feeling) music!

Enjoyable!!!!.......2001-05-05

This is a good CD, it is somekind romantic and it has a great mood. The harp's gliding sound is mixed to a "coloured jazz", you have to hear it, is lively!!! (There is no comparison in between but, have you ever hear Oscar Castro Neves, or the 1-2-3 first pieces from the CD Rainbow by Ron Coley? So you can get an idea about this terrific artist). If you love multicultural influenced music, you can't miss it. Just let yourself be transported to an enjoyable jorney!!!

Jazzy Paraguayan Harp.......2003-11-18

This is the original CD released before the newer version which is enhanced. Considering that it has been released twice, all be it in slightly different formats, teststifes to the belief and faith in this product. Roberto Perera's plays a mean Paraguayan harp like no other. The results are sensual, sexy syncopated Latin tinged beats that are quite fitting to the title of the disc, "Erotica." Although the music fits into the dreamy, other worldy category of New Age or smooth jazz, it is so different that similar artists like Andreas Vollenweider are more appropriately put into these niches. The Latin grooves established probably contriute to the authentecity of the Paraguayan harp best on the opening track entitled "My Paraguayan Song." The opening track sets the table for a Latin feast for the ears by creating lush sounds as the harp's strings cascade over a percussion that drives the music as the fretless bass gives the song additional texture amidst the keyboards and the other stringed instrument, a Sinthy Roland guitar. The song is a knockout and nothing short of exqusite. It is probably the best song on the disc. The pace is slowed down considerably on the title track "Erotica" for one of those mood enhancing songs that is as relaxing as the afterglow of a beautiful encounter. Most of the songs have a dreamlike quality and is clearly demonstrated by track #6 entitled "The Artificial Dream" where the Paraguayan harp's strings are plucked for an ethereal effect while the keyboards add additional characteristics in sound. As stated, this disc has a somewhat New Age style to it and with songs with titles like"Winters Stars" it is no wonder that the music can be a bit out there.This is one of those discs that can be played anytime as it is very soothing and flows right through you. It is also great mood music for those special moments with that person you want to be with. Also recommended for a mind excursion of the third kind.
