Soda stereo is great, but............2001-12-02

The thing that bugs me about this one is that it is a live recording and it doesn't say that on the cover or the description. I think the studio versions sound better.
But don't be misled by this review..Soda Stereo was one of the greatest latin rock bands ever. If you are a first time listner or a moderate admirer I would reccomend the "Chau Soda" record instead. Even the selection on this one doesn't do justice to them..they have even better tunes.

Excelent Selection.......2000-06-14

Soda Stereo is the best of latin american bands. This selection includes some of their classics..."Ella uso mi cabeza como un revolver" o "Disco Eterno", one of their bests songs are here. I srongly recommend this album for all you people to understand latin american rock music and to see the excelent musicianship and voice of Gustavo Cerati, their leader. A must have.

this is yet another collection of her privious songs. this being one i prefer myself for it has alot of the songs from different albums i enjoy.if you are looking into an album to learn about this artist,this is a good attempt.Although some older songs I consider good are not here,these you can be sure have not been played out by being repeated on just about all her other collections. Don't get me wrong I like her voice however repetition can become boring even to the best. A good attempt though. Este es otro intento a coleccionar canciones de ella.Estas son unas que me gustan mas. Si no estan familiarisados con ella este es un album a conseguir.Las canciones no las estan tocando tanto que lla no los quieras oir. Un buen intento de todas maneras.

Another great album from a band i was in, in 1992 in bogota when i lived there!

This band is cucu. They mix pop, various tropical genres, rap, heavy metal, bolero, and jazz into a pickel of a style. This is like a "greatest hits" package which I think is great for a first time listener, this features tracks from all of the records that came before "gozo poderoso". my faves are "bolero falaz", "florecita roquera" and "candela". I am not a huge fan of them, but I will admit that they are original and if you like rock or "alternative", then this is worth checking out.

in the new era of español music, this Aterciopelados leads the sound of the new generation of rock musicians, with fresh lyrics and with music sometimes remember me, punk rock, almost a mystery. Keep cool "mis amigos"

Sturdy, But Where's "Mujer Gala"?.......2000-06-17

I am a big Aterciopelados freak, and bought this best-of CD even though I already owned all the albums it drew from. (By mistake: I thought "Serie 2000" was the follow-up to "Caribe Atomico"; it isn't -- the new CD is due sometime next year.)

It's a terrific compilation, though nothing like the mix I would have made. And that's a good thing: Some songs that seemed a little weak came to life on their own in this new context (take Florecita Rockera: in "El Dorado" it's just one more song with softish acoustic verses and crunchy fuzz-driven chorus (very Pixies), but on its own it's terrific).

Truth be told, there was a lot of filler in the first three albums, but with enough outstanding material to warrant a double CD of early hits. "Serie 2000" does a pretty good job: it even plucks one of the band's oddest efforts, Miss Panela, a Beastie Boys-style rap that is interspliced with vallenato (accordeon dance music that bears no resemblance to polka, other than the aforementioned accordeon). And there are enough lovely ballads and fast crunching numbers to give you a taste of what this oddball Colombian rock band did before giving us "Caribe Atomico" -- that gem of electronica that you really, really need to get. Right now.

"Serie 2000" is a fair overview loaded with great material. One quibble: Where is Mujer Gala? That was the punkish, two-minute hit that made them famous -- it's on the first two albums, and it's terrific, and it's nowhere to be seen here.
