Tego is one of the BEST!.......2006-05-23

As far as the kid further below saying these artists need to put music out in English, I'd just like to say, I think Tego's style, AS IS, is fantastic and probably wouldn't sound as hot in english...and I'm not biased, I'm white and lots of his stuff I don't understand at first, but it is that good that I'll go to the trouble of translating it so that I can listen to it and understand. As a lyricist, I think he is very profound. Tego's music is HOT and his style is unique and sounds amazing!! If you don't like it, fine, leave it as a matter of personal taste in genre, but you can't put it down because you simply don't understand it. Many people who don't speak Spanish still enjoy his music. As for the album, it's great, just like all Tego's stuff.

This kid below is trying to make a statement on the culture and following of Reggaeton music. Problem is, nobody knows what the hell he's talking about. I think he's mad that he wouldn't be able to decipher the Spanish lyrics, and if he does speak Spanish, he'd realize that Tego is less Reggateon per se and more hip-hop. Tego IS a straight lyricist and from what I've heard, doesn't make dance music. If this Cali kid would listen to the music first and quit trying to be editor of XXL, then he'd figure this out on his own. Tell me who has compared Tego to Nas or Biggie or 2pac--surely this person making the comparison needs to get their head checked. Anyone buying into that claim and feeling the need to dispute it by posting on Tego's CD review page needs to listen to more Tego and quit listening to what people think of him. You're whack, kid...and your rants on these pages have nothing to do with Tego's music, just about what you think that his music isn't. This isn't hip hop music.......2005-11-20

I don't understand why reggaeton artists think their music is profound and true hip hop. Reggaeton music is not a culture. Reggae and true dancehall music is a culture and those artist make music for everyone to listen to. If artists like Tego Calderon and Daddy Yankee want to put out music for everyone to hear. At least put out material in english y'all. Also, I've been labled a "Reggaeton Hater" just because I'm voicing my opinion on the genre of music. All I got to say to those people is, you guys don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Aguanta Que LLego Grandpa.......2005-07-09

The most underated artist in the genre--the black horse of the movement. But behind the scenes everyone knows who the godfather is--a REAL hip hop artist making great music. With all the real Puerto Rican flava and some lyrics that you wouldn't understand unless you lived on the island. 100 % Criollo ---el Abayarde reminds us of what being Boricua means--It won't be easy for him to crossvoer like DY, and most people outside of PR may not understand what the hell he's talking about. But he is reaching the people he is targeting. Not for everyone but true boricuas will enjoy it.

Great album..but as someone else said they are many remixes from old songs and they dont make the song better..the album is still good, Tego always bring heat!!

early baroque fake-book inspiringly read.......2005-10-07

This is inspired playing/interpretation of an obscure Mexican cittern(!) instruction manual on viol, cittern, chitarrone, and various percussions. It's full of familiar tunes reset -- the folias, canarios, branles, ..., and some you've never heard before. Some of the rhythms are conjectural, but the results make you want to dance. If you like Paniagua, you'll love this.

Excellent, highly recommend.......2005-04-27

I had the pleasure of meeting Los Pleneros at Rutgers in 1995 and I was immediately hooked. While Bomba and Plena music is lots of fun all on its own, this group takes it to another level. I can't seem to keep my Puerto Rican hips still when this CD is playing. If you ever get the chance to catch one of their performances, I guarantee you won't be sitting down for long, they'll make sure of that!

Puerto Rican Roots.......2000-07-19

If you haven't encountered Plena before, one of the great musical traditions of Puerto Rico, this album is a great place to start. It's a beautifully conceived project wonderfully well executed. Be prepared to hear great soulful vocals with terrific folky arrangements.

Somos Boricuas.......2000-04-19

This is an amazing CD. When I first discovered it a few years ago, I felt like I found something antique and valuable. I still feel that way. The most interesting cut on the CD is "Tilin", which almost any African American raised on the East Coast will recognize from Sunday school as "He 'Rose". Whether the tune came from Africa to both Borinquen and the States,or the early Puerto Rican migrants brought it to the States where it was adapted by African Americans, it shows a clear overlap of cultures. The CD should be your first purchase, if you're interested in learning about bomba y plena.

Thr essence of Puerto Rican Music.......2000-04-05

This album is one their best. Especially their fine tribute to a true "son" of Puerto Rico Pedro Albizu-Campos. One of the islands most vocal leaders/statesman. Who voraciously fought for Puerto Ricos Independence, during the the early part of the 20th century. The albums beautiful blends of "Bomba y Plena" help mark the islands unique folklorical history and music. The album is a real joy to listen too.

Definitivamente un "must have" para los que siguen su musica. Eddie le rinde homenaje en vida al compositor de su mejores exitos(Luis Angel). La interpretacion de los temas por Eddie definitivamente es la mejor de su carrera. Una voz muy clara y con el estilo que siempre lo ha caracterizado.

Estoy muy feliz de volver a escuchar a Eddie de esta forma.
Las canciones son muy buenas,algunas ya viejos exitos del cantante,pero con una madurez interpretativa sobresaliente.
Flor dormida y Fantasia herida son mis favoritas.
Excelente en todos los sentidos,un cd que para los amantes de
la salsa romantica resultara muy gratificante.
